I've had multiple dresses and jumpsuits hemmed by Nancy's without issues. They are efficient (usually takes about a week) & affordable. She has 2 dressing rooms in the shop to change into your clothing to be hemmed. Because there are only two dressing rooms, If you go when it's busy, you may have a to wait a bit. I had a bridesmaids dress that I had sized up to fit my hips better, but then it was verrryyy ill-fitting through the waist and chest. I'm very picky about tailors and when I moved here, I was dreading having to find a new one. This was one of 3 tailors I had bookmarked (thanks for your help, Fellow Yelpers!) and I only went here out of convenience - so happy I did! The lady who helped me was warm, helpful, and totally knew her stuff. I felt comfortable right off the bat, I was pretty confident that they were going to do a good job, not a feeling I get from most tailors. The stakes were high too, I was dropping off 2 brand new suits. Price was about what I expected, $90 total to hem 4 lined sleeves, 4 lined legs, and a minor repair to a pocket stitch. When I went to pick up, the same woman who helped me before greeted me and immediately offered for me to try everything on, which I was grateful for because I often feel like a PIA when I've request this from tailors in the past. Everything fit perfectly, and the stitching looked good too. This was my first time visiting Nancy's Tailoring & Boutique and I had a great experience! I needed work on my wedding dress; I had it altered, hemmed and added a bustle for $450. I cannot speak to their experience with everyday clothes, but as far as gowns, I'm very happy with my dress! I went in for the first fitting and gave them 3 weeks until my second fitting. She was on time and more than flexible with my need to reschedule - twice. I really appreciated this! Everything felt perfect! I asked for it to be tightened around my butt a little without restricting my thighs, and they naiiiiiiled it. In addition, I let them know that I'd like one more fitting about a month out from my wedding (July 2021) and I asked if I could leave my dress there. I'm so appreciative of the fact that they are currently storing it for me until I reach out for one more fitting. Great location (Boba Guys is across the street - you're welcome) and great service. Being a full figured women, I needed a silver bra that was available in any stores. I took Nancy my bra and you would have thought she designed it herself and covered it in silver. If you have the luxury of time then this might be the place for you. I needed a dress altered for an out of town event. I called ahead of time to see if the hem of my dress could be shortened and delivered back to me by Friday if I dropped the dress off on Monday. I was told they only needed a couple of days so the timing was sufficient. I dropped off the dress on Monday morning and reconfirmed that they would be able to get it back to me by Friday evening. They agreed. I got a call on Friday morning, yes the day of pick up and was told they couldn't have the dress ready in time. I told them it was unacceptable because I had confirmed with them three times that they could have it ready. The owner then said ok they would be done by the afternoon. I arrived Friday evening and the dress was ready. Everything was fine with the alteration, but I won't come back because of the uncertainty. read more

Hands down the best tailoring experience I've ever had (well, with the exception of the lady that fixed my wedding dress). Nancy is personable, efficient, honest, and prompt. I brought a skirt in to Nancy, and let me tell you, it was WAY too small. WAY TOO SMALL. Somehow she got her workers to work their magic and that skirt now fits like a glove. I was actually SHOCKED that she was able to get the skirt to fit. She had me try on the skirt, gave me a price, scheduled a time for me to try it on, I came back, she suggested more alterations, and the skirt was ready for me a few days later. Nancy's Tailoring has been my go-to for all of my alterations for the past 10+ years. I'm very petite so almost everything needs to be tailored to fit me. They've tailored everything from delicate dresses, heavy coats and pants hemming and the results are very professional -- even was worried about expensive coats I've had tailored and they came out beautifully. Sometimes if a garment is more complicated or if I drop off a bunch of items at the same time, they need more time than expected so just call ahead to ask if they're completed on the date of pick-up before driving down there. read more

Nancy is loved on yelp and with good reason. She and her team are rockstars when it comes to alterations. I need to alter pretty much every piece of clothing I buy. It's a sunk cost that I have factored into every pair of jeans/pants/dress/top I wear. I had a nylon trench that I wanted to size down a couple sizes. Nylon can be hard to tailor so I decided to go to Nancy since she got glowing reviews from fellow yelpers. She is also fun size so she knows my struggles to make clothes fit. We spent a good 15 minutes pinning, unpinning, and discussing what I wanted to do with the jacket (take in the sides about 4 inches, shorten 3 inches, shorten sleeves, attach belt to belt loop so it doesn't slip off, etc). It was a lot of work but I knew that I was going to get quality work and she quoted me what I thought was fair. I picked up my trench and it fit perfectly - she explained to me that they had to take apart the whole jacket and rebuild it from scratch. I went in last week to get my suit tailored for a wedding happening this friday, and when I call no answer, and I walk to the store I see a sign saying there's a family emergency and wont be open until the following week. A call letting me know, or letting me pick up my suit so I could take it somewhere else would have been simple and courteous, but I was unaware I'd be left without my suit for my wedding. I used to take all of my tailoring to another tailor in Redwood City. Which I had been using for the past 15 years. I discovered this new shop on Laurel Street in San Carlos called "Nancy's Tailoring & Boutique". Imagine my surprise to discover that this is THE NANCY that I used to take all of my items to in Redwood City! I haven't had any tailoring done for years. Mainly due to weight gain and having been unemployed for a little while. I am now working and have recently lost some weight. I was in desperate need of revamping my wardrobe.
