They were so kind and attentive! I explained exactly what color I sought before heading to a conference and the nailed it--pun intended. They offered my daughter and me drinks, which she loved as a little one on a big trip to the nail salon. They treated her like a little queen and she was absolutely delighted. My attendant was so careful and thorough with my nails. She was insistent on getting the right look with the right number of pant coats. I have been coming here for a while now for pedicures. I always get in right away without an appt. Sometimes I make them but you don't have to. I never ask for anyone specific but each technician does a great job! I am always super happy with my service. I usually get the Hollywood pedicure which is like 10 dollars more than basic but the treatment is heaven! You really feel pampered! They also have a list of one complimentary beverage per person. We're talking mojito, wine, cocktail drinks, also a variety of hot teas and coffe! It's always clean and sanitary and I feel the price while not cheap is not over the top. 9/7/21 On 9/4/21, I stopped by this store to get an idea on what the waxing price would be.  I think its is a good idea to have more than one place to get waxing done.  Especially if your favorite place or esthetician(s) isn't available at the time. Since I was driving from Roslyn Va,  taking the backroads, I ended up seeing this place on my right.   The first thing I noticed about this place is the sign on the door.  I saw that even if you have gotten your required vaccinations,  wearing a mask/coverup is required. No exceptions for not wearing a mask. Upon entering the establishment,  I was greated warmly by several of the staff members.   I asked for a menu and shown where they are located.   One of the ladies had a smile on her face as I was leaving the store.  I now wonder if she recognized me. Nevertheless,  this place did not have a chemical smell in the salon.  I am happy about this.  I think the prices on waxing are pretty fair.  I might just take a trip to this store soon. I like how the treatment of new protential client was handled.  I saw some of the reviews on this place, but I will see for myself later on this month. read more

It used to be my go to spot 3-4yrs ago. I recently moved back to the area and decided to check them out. It's so sad to see how much they've increased their prices and how terrible my nails/pedi came out. 1. I asked for coffin shape and got square 2. The nails were sooo uneven another person had to redo my nails. She tried but the damage was done. 3. I got a pedi and later that SAME day the color was chipping 4. I was charged $120!!! 5. DO NOT GO THERE! I highly recommend going somewhere else. One good thing was the young lady who answers the phone and the only one that speaks English. She still kept going when I saw blood on my right toe thumb. She did not even bother to tell me that she had given me a deep cut. I told her to immediately stop. She was very apologetic after that. One of the main reasons that I love and recommend Hollywood Nails & Spa is because of their focus on cleanliness; they go above and beyond to ensure each customer as the luxury of a clean and sanitary environment. All utensils come out of a sealed package, and each pedicure bowl is covered with a plastic barrier when each and every customer who receives that service. The details go a long way, and I appreciate the level of care and that goes into ensuring a comfortable and cleanly experience. I have been on the quest of finding a good nail salon in Arlington and I think I finally found it! I was recommenders this place by multiple friends and they are right. I was advised to make an appointment than going as a walk-in. So I called an hour before and made an appointment for pedicure and I am glad I did. All the technicians were busy serving one customer to another. Vy did my pedicure and she did exactly as I had expected. She cut into the ingrowing toenail and relieved me from the pain! The nail tech started by ripping off my acrylics without soaking them first. By doing this he ripped my nail bed and made it bleed. He did not say a word. I am a socially anxious person so I didn't say anything either. He then shredded most of my natural nail off to the point where I could feel the heat from the drill. He said he could do this design but he obviously couldn't do it well. My nails are lumpy and too thin. I'll be surprised if they last more than a week. read more

Jessie does the best dip nails I've ever seen! Between my daughter, my cousin and me, we've been to a lot of different salons, but Jessie is by far the best I've come across. PROS: 50-minute foot massage--deep tissue too, vast polish selection of OPI, Essie and others with both gel and regular polish options; massage chairs, and complimentary refreshments including wine. CONS: The salon could have been cleaner, but it wasn't in hazardous conditions; just older fixtures and a little dust probably from filing acrylic nails. There was a sterilization box, but I didn't witness her get the tools and open the new package. I suggest they open the sterilized pouch in front of the client, to make sure they know the tools are sanitized. OVERALL: I went to get a pedicure on Saturday, April 15, 2017, around 6:00 PM. The salon wasn't too packed, but a number of people arrived after me around 7 PM (an hour before closing). This was my best pedicure experience in the 7+ years I've lived in Arlington. Typically, I frequent Nails 2005 in Cherrydale Arlington, but I wasn't up for the drive, so I opted for a location closer to Ballston. I intended on just getting the deluxe spa pedicure which includes a 50-minute massage, salt scrub, hot towels, and callus remover for $38, but she did such a great job, I decided to get a manicure for an extra $10. Also, note that all manicures include a paraffin treatment. This was a relaxing experience that definitely eased my feet and leg soreness caused by my recent return to long-distance running. read more

Unfortunately I had to edit my review my initial manicure looked great however I developed a fungus under one of my nails. I noticed while receiving my manicure that they didn't take the manicure tools out of a new packet or one of those sanitizing machines. I was tired and assumed that everything was "probably clean". However my suspicions were correct. The manicurist also didn't have on gloves. I started to notice a dark spot on my right ring finger a few days ago. Today I decided to soak off the powder. If I could give this place a zero star after this experience, I would. This use to be a regular place for me in Arlington, not anymore after this experience. I've recommended this place to friends and I've treated my mom to mani/pedi's here a few times. When I arrived I showed the nail stylist a picture of the design I wanted. The picture shows white nails, with a silver glitter pinky, two ombre silver glitter nails and with rounded tips. I told Tom that I wanted that design, EXCEPT instead of silver I would like gold and that I wanted to KEEP my nails square as they were. Instead... this is what I got, trash. The lighting in the picture isn't the best and makes the white look pink, but it's really white (at least he got that right). I shared these exact pictures on my social media page and 69 people told me it looked like trash and needed to go back for a refund or to get them fixed. One of my friends told me it looked like a child just dipped my finger in glitter gold... Like at what point did he think this was OK? How do you look at this picture and say "OK. I'm happy with what I've provided our customer"? I went back the next day to get it fixed or get a refund (I paid $70). Luckily they had another young lady fix it, and to avoid another horrible ombre effect (in case she learned her technique from Tom) I just asked for it to be fixed and to have one finger white and the other all gold. If you don't know how to do a design... why would you agree do it? and if you SEE that it's not correct - why would you still bother to charge? I barely got a manicure as well. I specifically asked for one, meaning the cuticle cut, everything else that comes with treating the nails and a lotion/massage at the end. All he did was cut my cuticles. I also told BOTH nail stylist that I wanted my nails thin... they're all pretty thick with the exception of my pinky. Honestly, I don't like to complain or be THAT customer, but this is just very VERY unprofessional. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Take your money elsewhere!!!!! read more

Walked into Hollywood Nails today for a mani/pedi for the first time cuz my regular place was busy. My technician was attentive and took her time taking care of me. However while doing my cuticles on my fingers, she CUT ME WHICH LED TO ONE OF MY FINGERS TO BLEED. I pointed it out to her and she immediately said, "I'm sorry." While paying for my service, I checked to make sure the BLEEDING HAD STOPPED. Since this was not the cleanest place, I was just worried about infection. The gentleman (manager?) at the register looked at it and exclaimed, "Oh, that's so small!" Umm, how UNPROFESSIONAL? Not a "I'm sorry that happened." Or a simple "Are you okay?" He knocked $5 off my bill but that was NOT what mattered to me; his attitude and reaction was so unprofessional that I was sorely disappointed. I wish this business owner was MORE EDUCATED on how to really GET RETURNED CUSTOMERS OR REFERRALS... Considering I had just read NYTimes' report on how nail technicians have traditionally been exploited in the US, I sincerely hope she doesn't get in trouble. I TIPPED her quiet WELL for her work/time even though she cut me; my mani/pedi was normal nothing spectacular. I only prayed that my wound healed in the next few days without issues... I don't usually read reviews before I visit a place because I don't want to be guilty of any sort of wit plagiarism when I write my own review. In this case I was curious because of allegations of filth and health concerns regarding the sterilization of equipment. So I must say I was relieved to see my manicurist pull her tools out of a sealed bag. Whew! Her English skills were definitely lacking, but she made up for it with her thoroughness and enthusiasm. She paid very close attention to trimming my cuticles and painted all the way down to them. I did end up getting a paraffin wax which I think was an extra $5 when something got lost in translation.... And she also convinced me that I needed my eyebrows waxed. Ok, fine. :-) When I walked in at around 5:15pm, it was not very busy. I observed some of the manicurists practicing, which was interesting. The others were standing near the front talking and taking clients as they walked in. When I left around 6:30, it was much busier. Be aware they may try to up-sell you while you are getting service. Meh - it's fine. Good selection of color if you're getting gel or dip. OK selection if you're not. I definitely felt judged (my feet weren't in great shape - which is why I was getting a pedicure) and during the massage, my legs were covered in lotion AND cuticle oil. Why? No clue. I appreciated the parafin, but it could have been left on longer. The massage wasn't much more than what I do myself when putting on lotion. My nails look OK - again not much better than when I do them myself. I'll put another top coat on tonight myself, but if they are chipped before then, I wouldn't be at all surprised. read more

Came in for an acrylic full set. Left disappointed. My nails are messy. I requested a longer length than what I received. I wanted a different nail shape, received short squares. They lady seemed like she did not want to be there. She also split into my pinky skin while trying to file down her mistakes. My fingers are covered in dried acrylic and it hurts to try to peel it off. I think the lady was new or perhaps still learning because other employees kept coming around to look at her working on me. I will not returning. I could have saved $36 and did an equally terrible job at home. Tried to give this place another try after my gel manicure didn't even last a week. I wish I didn't. read more
