Love this transplanted slice of Portland smack in the middle of PDX. Duck into this mini-theater for a dark and (mostly) quiet respite from the screaming masses waiting at the gates outside. It's literally a pint-size theater laid out with full-on theater seats, dim lighting and a screen, and some of the stuff projected on there is genuinely enthralling ---- but unless you have a two hour layover, you'll probably only spend 20 minutes or so in here. Which is enough to re-energize you. Free, too. Very cool, and very Portland. read more

When you've made it through security without unexpected delays, and find that you have time to kill before your flight, this addition to Terminal C is just the ticket. Or, rather, it doesn't require tickets at all. Just wander in for locally made, short films. Whether you have 15 minutes, or an hour, this will be time well spent. read more

PDX has been my favorite airport since I first flew into it, some 12 years ago. And it just keeps getting better! This small theater is free. It plays mainly indie/local short films. They are all interesting and family-friendly, without being "for kids". Great dark place to take a load off too, way better than sitting at your gate fighting over powerports! read more

I wish they had more quality documentaries instead of just stuff on Oregon's culture, which is fine but sitting and watching 3 different short documentary got a bit old! The first microcinema in the country (and possibly the world?), owned and run by the local non-profit Hollywood Theater, has now opened inside Portland International Airport! Anyone with a free minute while waiting for their flight can drop in free of charge to watch shorts, documentaries, animation, and music videos from local filmmakers & artists, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! It's located in the C concourse, just across from the Alaska Air Lounge. **Note, if you already are in the A/B concourse, you do NOT have to exit and go through security again to get to the C concourse - look for the signs that point you to the walkway that takes you straight there! The 18 seats are soft and comfortable, with tons of space between so that ever seat has a great view. Thus far I've identified only 3 downsides: 1) There is no popcorn (the Hollywood Theater has the BEST popcorn in town, so hopefully some day they can bring it to this outpost for the authentic cinema feel), and 2) Since it's past the security checkpoint, only people with boarding passes can check it out. 3) the volume of movies is a bit low, so for most people it's kind of hard to hear especially when other airport sounds are seeping in from outside. Hopefully they can turn it up or put a knob on the wall to let people adjust it. Other than that, this is another wonderful, unique addition to what is already the best airport in the country. After that moment when you made it past security; and the frazzled rush frenzy is over (hopefully) this is an oasis in the PDX airport. It is more than just a way to "pass time" but, it def helps with that. Especially, since with traveling via plane all day- it is common to spend too much time looking at a phone, so this theater is an appreciated diverse rest from phone (screen) time. My husband and I got to check this theater out briefly last time we were at the airport, and it was really entertaining with short-films, animated shorts and local music videos. And, honestly, I was a lil' nervous stepping in the door just cuz it had "theater" in the name, I didn't know if it would be formal with seating assignments and show times, or what to expect. I was relieved to find it similar to a movie in a museum on loop and you can go in and grab a seat wherever there is an opening! read more

Went last night for their monthly Cong Fu theater. They have an amazing selection of old Cong Fu films that is a pleasure to watch. The seats are comfortable and the popcorn incredible. You can grab pizza as well if you are hungry and beer or cider. A great place to enjoy the classics. read more

I love Hollywood. I'm a member, but my membership more than pays for itself. When I heard they were opening a space in PDX I was so excited. I bided my time waiting for air travel to come up, and it did today. Hooray! Located in Concourse C, I had to go far out of my gate's way to visit, but I'm glad I did. I saw 3-4 local Portland films before heading back to Concourse D. For not having to pay for movies and having something to do while waiting for a plane to take off, this is pretty awesome. Other than the marquee, this location shares very little with its parent. The room is very modern and sleek, which I guess I should've expected, but it's so different from the vintage and...erm...falling apartedness of the original. The room is small, seating maybe 15, and it seems like most people pass it by without paying much notice. Because most travelers are unfamiliar, they probably don't know they can enter for free and just watch. I'm so torn between wanting to get the word out there and wanting to ensure I'll have a seat! read more

What an awesome place to destress and check out local Portland filmmakers. Enjoyed three short films while I was waiting for my flight to Kauai. Noticed several visitors asleep in their movie seats. It is dark and comfy in the theater but I could not relax as much as my fellow viewers as I definitely did not want to miss my flight to Kauai. Highly recommend stopping by here to spend some time before you flight. read more

Of course Portland has a mini movie theater in their airport... of course! This was so cool- they show short movies about Portland and Oregon in the theater- something different to pass the time! Seating is available in the theater, but limited. We enjoyed standing off to the side and enjoying a quick 5 minute film about Oregon! read more

I love that the airport here has a mini version of, what I believe to be, the world's greatest theater. You can watch, for free, local short films, while you wait for your plane. I think it's the best idea I've seen in an airport since I don't know when. read more

Hollywood Theater at PDX is another reason why I love my hometown and our great airport. They have short films constantly playing so it's a great place to stop by if you have some time to kill. Recently I saw a short film about slugs roaming around on the moss, as well as an awesome, locally filmed rap music video about being your own superhero. Kudos to the Hollywood Theater for bringing a welcome cultural escape to the airport! read more

This place is magical, and it's inviting. Its abundant neon outside is like a giant psychedelic beacon in the Portland night. Inside are soothingly darkly hued yet warmly colorful walls and a sloping hallway up to two theaters on the upstairs floor. The third theater on the first floor has plentiful comfortable seats and a large screen. The staff seem very happy to work here. Don't visit Portland without seeing a movie here. read more

I love getting some milk duds, a Boylan soda, pizza, and some popcorn before seeing a movie. They have all kinds of films, new and old, and really old.
