Although the employees are super nice and friendly, the installations are sadly in need up repair. Not maintenance, repair. We were in theater 8 in row C, seats seven and eight. One of the seats was literally missing an arm, there was a piece of one of the chairs just laying in the seat of the chair. The seats are incredibly worn, some broken, and it was dirty. The arms of the seats were tacky, probably from soda being spilled and not being cleaned up. We loved coming here when it was Cinetopia and even though the theater is just about within walking distance, we will probably drive to regal or if we want to have a really good experience, we'll just go out to McMenamins and get the full experience that we miss so much. read more

Let's start off with the positives! The staff was really friendly and welcoming. And the caramel and cheddar popcorn duo was yummy. Unfortunately this theater is a bit rough. Overall I feel like it's run down. The seats especially need an overhaul. They're rough and have a lot of miles on them. It has a dingy dark feel that is off putting. They do not recline and several were broken including one we sat in. They do not dim the lights for main previews and forgot to dim them for the movie evidently. Improvements at theater were a positive. Went to A Working Man with a friend and we were both disappointed. The movie sound was muddled, and the lighting was dark, couldn't make out a lot of the scenes. What's up with this? The #1 movie in America cannot possibly have poor sound and bad lighting. If you're reading this review you probably love movies. You want to go see a movie - and somehow your phone gave you showtimes to this AMC CLASSIC Mill Plain 8 and there are a few things you should know. The building that holds these 8 screens used to be the most luxurious and fine dining movie experience out there. I saw Avatar here back in 2009 and with the sequel having just come out, I often think back to the miraculous movie experience that used to be here. Imagine 21+ only screens with food service to your seat, adult beverages, a full service restaurant just outside the auditorium and wine tasting galore. It was so fancy at the time that I was mad that I lived in New York City. WTF. MY hometown of Vancouver gets this amazing facility, and I get boring ass stadium seating with AMC or Regal in Manhattan? Should I move home? First and foremost, to the people working at the Mill Plain 8 right now, you guys are the underdogs of the entire cinema going experience . You're the Mighty Ducks of movie theater employees. You're doing your best with what you have, and the folks at AMC, aren't giving you much. Let's start with the good. I saw a movie in Theater 6, and it retained heat. I had a winter coat with me and I didn't really need it. To top that off there was a screen at the front of the room and it was white. When light was passed through a projector, it shined an image onto the screen, and the screen was free from rips or tears - so a big visual win. The speakers around the room also worked pretty well. What probably was surround sound was had by all, but as I was seated a little lower in the room you may not get as much rear speaker action. Yet this sound issue is going to be the least of your worries. From the outside, the building is definitely worn. The actual box office is a storage area, and closed, so you gotta buy your ticket from concessions. Well I used the AMC app so I was one step ahead. Once upon a time, the food and snacks here were top notch. They are just standard AMC run of the mill mediocre movie fare now. The carpet in the primary hallway was nice and the place actually for a moment seemed to be put together. The place was eerily empty. Yet I wasn't quite prepared for my visit to the men's room. Did you ever see the movie Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist? There is a scene where a young girl, drunk, obsessed with her gum, is in a bathroom stall at Penn Station in New York City. Envision the most public bathroom you've ever seen, updated with the most lack of public funds you've ever seen, then envision this girl dropping her gum into the toilet, and then her trying to fish it out with her hands because she wants it back. I told you, I love movies. So this was the vibe of this men's room. It might technically be clean, but it's clear that its just as important to AMC than public restrooms are to the Penn Station. I found my hand sanitizer and skipped the sink I walked into the area that housed what might be a Bar? I don't know - it looks like one, but nobody is around and nobody cares. A few feet away a few curtains hide a giant empty storage space that used to be a great restaurant. The potential in here is amazing, yet it has been murdered seven times over by a serial killer in a David Fincher movie. While skipping the trailers, since I don't watch them anymore as they spoil too much of the movies, I made it to my seat in the dark as Nicole Kidman welcomed us back to the movies. In the dark, with white light flickering - I could tell that some of these seats were worn out AF, and I didn't even take my assigned seat. As the movie came to an end I noticed how a little bit of paint could help with some of the spots on the walls that so badly need it. My movie was free anyways due to using some AMC Stubs points, but this facility and this theater should be paying people the $8 ticket price to come here. Cinetopia was a dream movie product, until they opened a location near the AMC headquarters in Kansas City, and they played some hard ball with using their corporate leverage to deny the new trendy new Cinetopia location access to first run movies. This goes to court. Cinetopia vs. AMC, and mysteriously the case settles and Cinetopia disappears and their three surviving locations become the AMCs that we have today. I don't know if some AMC executive is Regina George incarnate, but withholding the funds to update these properties is just plain and simply, mean. This was supposed to be a review of the late and great Cinetopia, now masquerading as an AMC, but this really reads more like an obituary. Maybe something can happen and the employees here can make some movie fetch happen, and turn things around. Maybe they make a movie theater mighty ducks storyline about them someday. That would be something - until that happens though, proceed with caution if you come here; wear a diaper. read more

Mmmkay. So this place is always a smidge sketchy, idk why exactly. Maybe it's the careless staff, maybe it's the old chairs and rooms that haven't been remodeled in a million years, maybe it's the unwelcoming dark lobby. Whatever. It's cheap on Tuesdays if you are an AMC premier member. Sometimes they see us standing there waiting at the mobile pick up part of the concessions stand, they look down or up or around, anywhere to avoid eye contact and heaven forbid, have to talk to us. Sometime they don't see us. Sometimes they want you to pay outside, sometimes no one is around to ask for your tickets. Mmmkay, we'll anyway. It's the movies. honestly enjoy coming here once in while, not too busy and not TOO dead(more so on the dead side tho) and the movie tickets are the cheapest in the area. but this theater is so run down that AMC should be embarrassed of the theater. now this has nothing to do w the employees bc from my experience they've all been great and friendly, and they have to work w what they got. but half the seats are run down, the ceilings inside some of the auditoriums look like they're molding or something, bathrooms faucets were terrible thankfully fixed. its such a shame as i want to get amc alist but w this theater being closest and the vancouver mall slightly too far idk if i want to. no fancy rooms w nice leather recliner seats to get the most out of alist. i pray this theater gets the renovations it deserves soon bc it has so much potential read more

This location seats remind me of 90s vintage seating. No recliners, no luxury leg spaces. Just older seats that slightly tilt backward. The seating is of an older material but comfy still. I enjoyed the location for a quick cheap place to go. The staff was attentive and recommending services. They have a freestyle machine for drinks. Overall, I did not think the location was as bad as the reviews. My theater was theater 5. So, if your movie is in that theater, it was nice and intimate. The lobby was decent and clean. So was the halls. I will revisit. The parking lot was full so maybe more people go on Sundays. read more

The staff has always been friendly to me and this theater is my number one choice. But like it seems movie theaters are taking a serious hit by movie goers , Now sometimes I sit in the movie with only 3 or 4 others and fear someday they will close it down. Like all movie theaters the concessions are way to expensive. Physically the building is taking its hits. Several chairs have been damaged but it takes money to maintain them. So I was in California most the summer and last time I check this place was something totally different. I guess new owners. It used to be a upscale theatre with recliner seats and you could have dinner and watch a movie and have a cocktail. Now it's just the movies. Well you can still get snacks lol, watch a movie and they do have a bar but it's not the same. The prices are super high for what they have lol. I want back the Cinnetopia! Yes that's what used to be there!! I came here day after Christmas and it was packed in the lobby refreshment area. Just be prepared to wait the same person that gets your popcorn and snacks also orders your tickets for movies as well and you pick your seats. It's clever but this make the line go so slow and takes a very long time for each transaction. Tip: Order online through official website or Groupon! You can pick seats and skip that crazy long line! Well that is if it's busy. If I come back I won't be getting any refreshments! I'll stick to just the movie. read more

I was hoping once AMC bought cinetopia this theater would be renovated. Sadly it hasn't happened and this place is in disrepair. The living room theater seats are broken, torn and wobbly. Carpet is ripped. I'm currently 10 minutes from showtime and we are staring at a black screen. Half of the soda fountain drinks are out of order so they must still have vendor issues. If I could give them a 0 stars I would, what an absolute joke of a theater. This former Cinetopia theater is a shell of what it used to be. Unused equipment, blocked off restaurant, worn and disgusting seats are just a few of the terrible attributes of this theater. Plus no air conditioning in the theaters. AMC CLASSIC Mill Plain 8 - Seats in theater 7 - Cinema Near Me - Vancouver, Washington

Having been to the other closest AMC to Portland (Dine-In Progress Ridge), this location is an improvement. Since it's another Cinetopia acquisition by AMC (they really must get rid of all the Cinetopia signs), I was bracing for an unkempt theater. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the theater I was sitting in didn't have sticky floors or a creaky chair. I know it must be low standards, but given the lack of AMC theaters around the area, I'll take what I can get. I also appreciated that they actually dim the lights during the previews since the other AMC leaves it on throughout. Now for the improvements: cleaner restrooms, ticket scanner that works, and lights during the movie. The restrooms were a bit sticky and didn't smell that great. I'd skip it if I was about to eat since I'd have lost my appetite. There is only one ticket scanner and it barely works. This resulted in a long queue line of irritated customers not wanting to be late to their movie. Lastly, not all of the theater's lights go dark during the movie so if you're unlucky to sit under a still lit light (like I was), you may experience some bothersome lighted peripherals. read more

Absolutely the WORST THEATRE I have ever walked into. I don't understand how this establishment is even safe to be operating. The chairs were run down and wobbly because the bolts in the ground have came out at one point. We had to change quite a few chairs until we find a more sturdy one. Somebody might fall right on the floor if they just drop themselves on the chair. The black leather on seats had completely worn out and disappeared. The seats armrest were broken and won't stay at one place. Cup holders were sticky and we can see old food and pop corn stuck in the chair corners. Staff were friendly but this theatre was DISGUSTING!!! I had free tickets from wok and I am so glad that all I bought was popcorn. Please! Terrible theater, got to our seats and noticed that the ceiling had fallen onto our seats and we looked up and multiple panels were water damaged and torn in half. Went to complain and they didn't seem to care just told us to move seats no refund or anything. The seats were torn apart and smelt like mold throughout the whole movie and was freezing read more

The seats!!! they're just strange teeter-totter seats without ottomans so I have no idea what to do with my legs when the seat reclines me into the fetal position against my will. The entire theater bonded over this and we took great pleasure in watching unsuspecting patrons sit down for the first time, only to be thrown back against the wall (one lady spilled her drink all over herself). Lady at front desk was extremely rude. Didn't have a name tag on so we didn't figure out her name. Gave dirty looks and had an attitude the whole time we were purchasing movie tickets. Disgusting, our theater #5 smelled like pee. Used the ladies room, and gagged. It smelled like a homeless camp. The staff was nice, though.

My husband and I accidentally went to the theater at the mall, and they were super nice and said they would call this location to let them know we made a mistake and to still let us in to the showing. We walked in about 11 minutes after the movie started and nobody was at the counter. Which of course is understandable as the concession stand closed at 8PM. But we ended up waiting another 3 minutes before someone walked out. He had an attitude the entire time, and my husband explained that the other theater had called. Dude didnt even acknowledge that, and just scanned the tickets. Sure, fine. At least he was letting us in. He made a comment "You know this movie already started right?" Bro. Yes. We aren't stupid. I then pulled out my wallet because I was going to ask for a plastic cup to have water-I am 8 months pregnant and they dont allow outside food or drink. A lady walked in that time and said "Yeah our concession stand is closed, you cant buy anything." And she was snarky as all getup too. I went to say that I need water, and she walked away before I could say anything. Cool. The movie was good but there was a small hole in the screen. The seats are uncomfortable as all sh*t too. This has to be the coolest theatre ever. I love how's there's a bar near the concession stand for while you're waiting for your movie. They also have a lot of creative and interesting food items, such as vegan nuggets and mozzarella sticks. The interior of the building has this rustic vibe that I really like, staff here are really cool and friendly. The movie experience itself was also great as expected. Went to a movie today. Very disappointed with how filthy it was. No one was cleaning up or making an effort to do so. You can now serve your own soda, eww Gross it was a mess. Made it into the theater only to sit in broken down chairs that wouldn't sit upright. Apparently no heat either. Watched a great movie but was freezing & very uncomfortable. AMC took away Cinetopia's amazing menu and replaced it with crappy AMC food, they took the wide selection of drinks and replaced it with the corporate winners from the corporate breweries, they didn't renovate a thing and they are charging the same prices. Hmmmm, why do I feel ripped off? What was a unique experience with great food is just another disappointing AMC theater. My advice stay home and watch Netflix with delivery of your favorite food!
