I say expected because everything is automated. You have many things to watch and read. When you go through the process they read it to you anyway to make sure you know what's going on. Everyone was nice and informative. You have to have nice and plump veins in order to donate. I was in and out. On your first couple of times being there they tell you to just cut the line. It's a courtesy. I spoke with someone was "in front of me" and they knew. However, everyone there is trying to make some money. Interesting experience. No trouble. Obviously no pictures because of their policy.

If they do let people know, It's on a piece of paper at the office but if you get out of work at 5 and you plan to get there at 6 because they close at 7, you won't know that until you arrive. The gas is already wasted, the time is already wasted. they close early on Saturdays around 2pm, but lately they have been closed in general on Saturdays. There are a lot of people who donate because they enjoy donating, but they also need the money. They are able to put out a notification on the CSL plasma app. They do that occasionally but nowhere near enough. The service is fast when Kevin is working, and Ten was really cool, but she left. There are definitely a few people here that are incredibly nice and take care of you fast and efficiently. The phlebotomist in the back are nice and fast. I never really have a problem. They just need to fix their hours and hire more employees.

When someone finally checked me in they asked me to have a seat. Fine. Then, after sitting there for 15 minutes a man comes in to donate. The person attending states, hey there are two of you. Who didn't check in? The person who walked in 15 minutes after me says I didn't check in. The woman then said, ok I'll take you first to the late comer. Then I was the only person sitting there and I quietly left without having given my donation. I felt I didn't owe anyone that I should sit and be ignored. I've given blood many times and this was a poor experience. If I ever donate again I'd probably try another agency like Vitalant or some other.

You can also buy certain supplies such as first aid kits and cpr kits here. You sign up for the classes online and you can pay by credit card. There are at least classes once a week. Parking is scarce so come early. Park by the Van Wyck highway, there are no meters there. If you don't, you are going to have to pay for parking. The classes "fly" by quickly.

This is a new blood and plasma donation center that's exceptionally clean, relaxing, and free of…read moredistractions--perfect for donating blood or plasma. Upon entering, you'll sign in at their computer and answer a few quick questions, such as your last donation date, blood type, etc. Shortly after, a phlebotomist will escort you to the back to begin the process. The phlebotomists are kind, calm, and professional, and not overly chatty, so you can easily zone out, listen to music, or read while donating. They also offer magazines in case you forgot your book or want to browse the latest NJ Monthly. Afterward, you'll head back to the front of the store, where a long, spotless table is set up with refreshments. I especially appreciate the sink they provide so you can wash your hands before eating or drinking. Walk-ins are welcome, though making an appointment is recommended.
