Food is good. The first time we went, I ordered a Ribeye cooked medium rare. It was well cooked. My husband ordered the club sandwich, he was pleased with it. Their salad dressing is delicious. Service was so-so. The second time we went with 2 friends. Once again the food was good. I had the stuffed sole...delicious. However, our server was very rude...my husband asked for more sweet tea, she rolled her eyes at him! My husband went Friday morning on his way home from work. He ordered Steak and eggs. There were only 4 tables with patrons. Once again the service was horrible. She brought the steak and hash browns and said she would bring the eggs out shortly. (He ordered poached). He finished the hash browns, and half of the steak. The servers were standing at the window talking to each other. He had to go ask the server about his eggs. He noticed there was a bowl sitting in the window which he was sure was his eggs. She sarcastically said, they are not finished yet. She then picked up the bowl and brought them to him. By this time they were cold. We experienced the same "attitude" from 3 different servers each time we patronized the restaurant. I hope the owner sees this review and talks to his servers about their attitude when taking care of customers. The waitress that works the non smoking section on weekend mornings is horrible. She has screwed our order up for the last time. My husband ordered an omelette with no green peppers and guess what it arrived loaded with? Green peppers. He sent it back and they brought him "another" one suspiciously quick. Well, apparently they just went through and picked the green peppers out. We know this because they missed a few and the entire omelette tasted of green peppers. She never comes back to check to see if you want a refill until you're getting ready to leave. The food arrives cold more times than not. The service is drastically better in the smoking section but who wants to dine sitting in a cloud of smoke? There's better places to eat. read more

Food is good, but their cheese in the burger is kinda funky so I recommend picking a cheese or ask specifically for american cheese. The wings are delicious, spicy and lots of sauce, I also love their fried mushrooms! The place is kinda dingy, divey, but it has a nice feel to it in a wierd way. They do allow smoking and vaping. They do have a bar as well as restaurant seating...the booths are nice and wide and can seat 6 minimum. If you dont like to be around smoke from one side of the smoke controlled area, then dont go there. I enjoy being able to have some drinks and get something to eat when I get hungry! read more

We have always enjoyed Holties food. Ordered a take out last night. Food was not even started when I arrived. They forgot. That's OK. Their food is worth the wait. I enjoy the customers. A mix of down home people. What was disappointing was the manner in which the people made fun of the waitresses wearing masks. Social distancing was about two or less inches from each other at the bar. Ignorance is a blessing. What you don't know you will learn later. Once you are informed and still persist with the old attitude then you turn into stupid. Ignorance is tolerated, stupid is as stupid does. Felt like I had walked into a petri dish of stupidity. I'm giving it a 2 as I do love their wings. We drove up one night at 10:30 just for one drink. We had some time to kill as needed to pick up our child nearby at 11:00. As we were parking we saw a worker spot us and then rushed to lock the door. We got out of our cars as it says they close at 11:00 online. Well when we approached the door, a worker came and unlocked it. So we (2) walked in and the female bartenders face was not happy. She told us the kitchen was closed. We told her that okay we just wanted 1 drink. She didn't look happy. So I said, "Are you closed already or do you close at 11:00?" She said that she was supposed to say 11:00 but... then just gave us a look and said, "If I don't tell you we're still open till 11:00, I'll get in trouble but, uhhh...." So yeah. We got the hint and left. There was still a couple of customers in there but I guess she couldn't wait till 11:00 to close. I guess she had a hot date that was more important than keeping the set hours. Nope, we'll never go there again even though we've enjoyed the wings in the past with friends. Too bad. read more

Well after 1 hour, we finally got our appetizer. An hour later we finally got our main course. Disappointed that the mac and cheese came from a box, and the French Dip was fatty!! The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 for me is because it is a small bar and it is very smokey also they only have 1 girl toilet and 1 boy toilet. I love Holties! It's a little divey and definitely a no frills kind of place, which is my kind of place. Non-smokers beware, they do allow smoking inside, but that doesn't bother me... The steak sandwich or French dip is always a winner, and the chef salad is everything I want in a salad. The fries are probably my favorite part, steak fries, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. My husband and I go here every weekend for breakfast. The food is definitely home made cookin! Everything is amazing. The trashed (sauced then fried) wings are the best wings ever! I have never been here to drink. In fact I've never been here past 10am because I only come for the breakfast. The breakfast is classic, greasy, calorie laden diner food at it's best. I've never waited more than 5 minutes for a table and the waitresses are all friendly, quick, and efficient. The only downside: smoking is still allowed inside. I really wish JeffCo would finally jump on the non-smoking band wagon with the rest of us in the 21st century. I don't know if they hired a new cook but the food was much better a year ago. I've tried eating there 4 times over the last few months and haven't been too enthused with the results. Ordered a French dip, part of the meat was cold, same with the cheese. Tried to order over the phone a couple times and didn't get what I asked for (just wanted a burger and mashed potatoes on the side, got fries instead). Ordered their buffalo chicken dip and it wasn't mixed, like they layered the ingredients, microwaved them, and left it at that. Ordered mozzarella sticks and they were cold, like they started them before anything else even though it was a to go order. My husband ordered a Porterhouse and I order catfish....we watched his steak sit on the window for 8 minutes...waitress finally brought it....and it was cold....He finished his food before I even had mine....I told the bad attitude waitress to just box mine up when it's ready ....so I didn't get to even eat....and the waitress was very unfriendly from the minute we sat down....horrible....we will never be back. read more

There where not a lot of people there when we went but the food was good and the atmosphere was quite nice because it was one of the few places in Jefferson county that is smoke free in which is very nice. We have had great service at all times of the day. Breakfast is great. I've tried eggs, pancakes, etc. All good. Dinner menu has been great as well, until they were out of steak the other night. Tuna is good, burgers, T-ravs, steak sandwich, has all been good. read more

We were in tonight and when the waitress took the drink order, I ordered a sampler platter because I was really hungry, which I stated. She left and brought the drinks. She came back after 20 minutes and asked if we wanted to order. My husband told her no, just the sampler platter. She came back after another 20 minutes and askes if we were done. With a restaurant not even half full on on Saturday night it took over 40 minutes to get our food, Our waitress was inattentive and when our food finally came, I asked where our order of trashed wings was. My husband's fries were cold and my friend's boneless wings were drowned in BBQ sauce to the extent that she had to put them on a napkin to drain. I've been going to Holties on and off for about 10 years. Even when they're busy (which is most of the time) the food is always hot and fresh. We love their wings, onion rings, french dip, steak fries, fajitas, and the famous Bomman Burger (huge burger, cheese sauce, bacon, giant onion ring on a bun)... As you can tell, the menu is typical for a bar, but the service is exceptional! Pick-up orders are rarely wrong. Dine-in servers are fast, attentive and friendly. ...The only down-side is since it's so small and they allow smoking, there's really no place to sit where you can't smell the smoke (even the non-smoking section.)...The only other real restaurant in Barnhart is Case and Bucks and it is absolutely terrible under new ownership. read more

This is your basic bar food joint. The portions are HUGE and everything is at a reasonable price. I would give this place 4 or 5 stars if the staff was nicer. Terrible!! We waited a year to come back because our previous experiences were not great either. Silly us, because tonight wasn't any better!! The steak was not only over cooked, but it was not seasoned whatsoever. It had absolutely no flavor to it. My husband ordered a burger cooked medium and it came out well done and burnt!!! The baked potato was undercooked and still hard. The last straw was when we ordered a sandwich and fries to go. Shame on us for not checking before we left, but when we got come we realized that they gave us a small house salad to go, not the sandwich and fries that we ordered AND paid for! When I called to ask for a refund of the sandwich to our credit card, the "manager" stated that she was unable to adjust any credit card transactions! She said that only the owner could make those adjustments. She never once apologized for their error or our inconvenience! They acknowledged that the sandwich was still there and that we could come back to get it. We live 20 minutes south, so no, we were not going to go back for it. What a disappointment!
