Honestly my absolute favorite restaurant for breakfast! I refuse to get a country fried steak from anywhere else, no other place has come close to comparing. I've never tried anything outside of breakfast here, it doesn't look that appetizing to me when I go, if I'm being honest. But the breakfast has a hold on me either way. Service depends on the day, with it being a small business- you always get the same handful of workers. Sometimes they're great but they also come to work not feeling well because they don't have the staffing to give anyone a day off. It is an older diner in a small city, but I love it. I absolutely love this place!! My husband and I go here often, when we want to eat out. I usually get the Slinger, always a good choice! He loves their pizza. Food is always hot and so good! Staff is always nice. I always see someone cleaning when we go. I highly recommend them! read more

We have never had a bad meal at Slingers. Their breakfast is THE BEST I have ever had. No one can make my eggs so perfectly, no, not anywhere I've been, snd I've been to a multitude of places for breakfast in my 69 years. I know it's wrong, but someday I'm going to break into that kitchen snd kiss the chef fright on the mouth. (Haha, I crack me up). Now smoke-free! I love this place. The burgers are great they taste homemade. The pizza tastes like a st Louis original. I highly recommend this place. If you have a chance to meet the owner's they're very nice. Very friendly and family atmosphere. read more

Tried to go for lunch with my son. Establishment is seat yourself. Chose table right in the middle of room near counter. Sat for about 10-12 minutes with no acknowledgement from staff. Meanwhile 2 tables next to us that arrived about 2 minutes after us had drink orders filled and had already placed food order. Got up and left. Willing to try one more time soon but for now this is a one star review. read more

Nice little diner - clean, nice staff, good coffee, good home style food served in perfect sized portions. They're known for their slinger, but the slammer is also a good choice - saw the grill cook getting other breakfast standards ready and those looked good too (pancakes, french toast, etc). Early open, but the weekend breakfast crowd shows up later...mostly families with kids - nice crowd We will definitely go again read more

I got the slammer with biscuits on the side. The best biscuits I've had. Great service here means your coffee is full and you like your stay. They check in quite often to make sure you're not lacking something you need. Overall amazing eats for amazing prices. read more

I cannot exaggerate how horrible the food was. They served me a yellow/brown salad that was slimy. The potatoes and gravy almost made me vomit, i'm not sure it it was the brown gravy or the potatoes that were worse. The chicken was burnt and hard to eat. So let me start by saying I have ate at Slingers many times and had fairly good experiences. A couple fridays ago my family and I (3 people total) arrived at 9:25pm they close at 10:00pm We were greeted a few feet inside the door and were promptly informed that we could not be seated and if we wanted food we had to get it as carry out because they were closing soon. I looked at my watch and said it's not even 9:30pm and was told "well we can take your order and make you something to eat but it'll have to be carry out" I was very upset by this as I wanted to sit down with my family and have a Nice meal away from home. I cannot complain about anything. You get exactly what you expect and unless you are literally blind, you will know this is an old time diner/dive type place. They still have $2.00 burgers and their fried cauliflower is as good as it gets. The wait staff are also what I expected. I strongly like all aspects of this place. Hands-down one of the most underrated restaurants! Everything on their menu is amazing! Rob makes the best basted eggs out of any restaurant we've been to in the entire St. Louis area! And we LOVE trying different restaurants. Pancakes are also unbelievably good! Wait staff is attentive and always helpful. We have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Having eaten at restaurants where we pay $100 for a meal and other places $30 for a meal this is an unbelievable restaurant at a great value with delicious food and excellent service. Hardly ever a wait and if there is it's maybe 5 minutes. You can sit down, order and get your food in 5-10 minutes. Very fast! Give it a try. You will not be disappointed! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! The food is very poor quality and served in tiny portions. The kitchen was filthy and so loud I could barely hear anyone talking at my table. If this wasn't bad enough, I ordered two one-piece kids chicken strip meals and the waitress rung us up for the adult meals. When I pointed out the mistake, the manager refused to correct it even though I didn't order it. Then I find out that the waitress was instructed to ring up my meals as adult and not kid, so they're trying to pull one over on their customers! Quick basic greasy spoon at a good price. Got an omelet and hash browns for five bucks well my friend got eggs with Chile on top of it. They do have a smoking in a non-smoking room but I'm glad I got there at 6:30 in the morning that there was hardly anybody smoking. They open at 5:30 in the morning read more

It is rural diner. It is not smoke free, but not very smokey. It is not shiney and new. They make a good slinger. I got the hamburger version and it was very good. My son got the slugger which is a slinger with sausage gravy instead of chilli. Also very good read more

WARNING! This establishment allows SMOKING! the food is substandard but for a hole in the wall I can deal with that for cheap food close to home. What I can not deal with is while I was trying to eat my breakfast the couple at the table next to us were chain smoking. On 9/18/18 I was traveling randomly through MO and checked google maps for a diner near me and came across Slingers. The breakfast was a very good value for the money and they had good coffee. What impressed me was the waitress. I accidentally lost my grandmothers ring in the booth and it was returned to my by the waitress before I left the diner. It was near and dear to my heart because it was my grandmothers. I am going through chemotherapy and have lost considerable weight thus it was easy for my ring to slip off my fingers. I am leaving that ring for my grandchild and can't thank that waitress enough for being honest. I did leave her a nice tip. I hope the manager reads this review. read more

We went there today for the first time after it being recommended by a cashier at the local grocery store. We were greeted by Ashley and she was also our server. This young lady has a wonderful attitude and a bubbly personality, she was simply a pleasure. We ordered breakfast and it exceeded our expectations! We are new in town. Making our way around all the establishments, finding out what is available. The service was fair. They were pretty quick to fill our order. The waitress was neither cheerful or grumpy. Just fair. The food was good. We just wish we would have read the reviews first. The smell of cigarette smoke greets you as soon as you open the door. Slingers has a very wide variety of things to eat. The staff is friendly and always welcoming. The food is pretty good. Pizza is St. Louis style and they have a variety of good toppings to choose from. Their burger is good but wish it was a little bigger, which is what keeps me from giving this a 5 star rating. This is a little hole in the wall that is filled with cigarette smoke and it's always freezing. They can never get my eggs right which is just over medium they always have running whites their pizzas are awesome and cheap!
