I just moved to the neighborhood and was using my serger for the first time since dragging it 1,700 miles to NY. It was working fine - until it wasn't. Started making some noises then an entire part broke and flew off at me, mid sergering! I panicked. I don't have a car anymore (we sold them when we moved here), so I was happy to see that this shop was less than 1/2 a mile from my apartment. Yay! I called to make sure the shop was open one morning, then once I got confirmation, I loaded both my serger and my sewing machine into my wagon and off I went! I went ahead and left my sewing machine along with my serger as I feared that the long drive in the u-haul might've caused the issues with the serger, so I just wanted him to look at my sewing machine and do some overdue general maintenance while fixing my serger. He told me that he'd "take care of my babies" and I left them there along with my name and phone number. I got a call the next morning, letting me know that they were ready. That was fast! He replaced the broken part on my serger then did maintenance on both machines. They are BOTH working like a charm!! I didn't catch the man's name, but he's an older Greek guy who was very kind and friendly. We chatted for a bit each time I was there, and he was very nice to talk to. After weeks of warm drinks, rock-less cocktails, and an inability to put ice on sore muscles, I contacted Mike. He got back to me quickly and sent a technician here right away. Unlike a New York public school teacher during covid, the technician got to work. He removed the ice maker assembly and suggested it might need to be replaced. I began mental preparations for taking out a second mortgage, as Viking parts are absurdly expensive. In short order, he determined that the assembly worked fine (pretty impressive for a 20-year old fridge). A piece of food had gotten into it and blocked the water flow. He fixed it, put it back, and I was back in the ice-making business in no time. He could have totally fleeced me, but did not -- restoring my faith in humanity, but not New York's teachers' unions.

When he arrived, he made sure to cover his shoes with blue covers and he was able to quickly diagnose that my oven door needed new hinges and gave me the price, which I agreed to before he then promptly fixed everything.
