We just recently started sending our dog Buddy to the doggy dojo for daycare. The staff is fantastic! They take great care of him and he comes home worn out! I practically have to drag him into the vet or groomer. Doggy dojo he runs in willingly! We just needed to board him over night for the first time. Two nights away from home. I was very anxious about it. Denise the booking coordinator told me I could call or email to check up on him. I emailed the morning after his first night. She responded right away to let me know his first night went well. She even sent pictures of him playing with the other dogs!! He looked so happy. She really put me at ease! My husband and I moved to the area about a year ago with our pittie and we LOVE the Dojo! We've tried a few doggy daycares as we've moved around the city and this is by far our favorite. The staff is super helpful and love the dogs so much. I know that if there were any issues with our pup, they'd let us know ASAP and I trust that they would do the right thing. After our doggy daycare unexpectedly closed and gave us very short notice, The Doggy Dojo swept in like a hero to help us out and give our two boys some much needed attention and care. The transition from our old daycare to The Doggy Dojo was very seamless, and our boys love getting out of the house and visiting their human and canine friends-- and they always come home tired! Doggy Dojo does a great job of giving your updates and making you feel comfortable. They are easy to communicate with and make transportation and payment super easy and casual (yet still somehow professional?). They are incredible affordable especially for those of crazies who have 2+ dogs. I would recommend The Doggy Dojo to my nearest and dearest, and I am so thankful for how awesome they are! We started using the Dojo right before our wedding when we needed to board our puppy in a pinch the weekend of. They gave us a free trial day to make sure that our girl Olive was a good fit and she LOVED it! They took great care of her while her mom and dad were getting married and now she gets almost weekly visits. The whole staff is SO sweet. As soon as we walk in the door we hear "Hi Olive!!!" They seem like they truly care for all of the dogs that come through their door and that's all you can ask for when leaving your pet in someone else's hands. I could not be happier with this daycare. It really impressed me way more than all the other daycares I toured during my search for a good place for my Lakota to play. It is clean and adequately staffed with the friendliest and most knowledgeable people. I can be a little annoying when it comes to my baby Lakota but they did not ever show a hint of being impatient or annoyed with me and that is golden. We are new to the Doggy Dojo family and echo all the other reviews. This Covid stuff has brought Axel's trips to the beach and big dog park on hold. My husband and I are both healthcare people and we have been kind of tired and getting him up to the big dog park has been a challenge. Can't say enough good things about Oscar and the Doggy Dojo. They came highly recommended from a friend who sends her lab to the daycare. We've now sent our lab mix both to the daycare and had him boarded (cage-free) with the Doggy Dojo for nearly two weeks! Our dog is 6 years old and we'd never boarded him before, but once we met Oscar we had no qualms about it and knew he'd be well taken care of. Our dog came back happy and handsome, fully brushed with a cute bandanna. Once you meet Oscar and crew, you can see that these are truly people who understand your relationship with your pet and care about your pet's well-being. They take the time to get your dog comfortable with them and the daycare and give updates on how your dog is doing (like a teacher would to a parent :) ). Totally impressed with Doggy Dojo. Our pup absolutely loves going to day care and we feel confident that she is happy and well taken care of by Oscar and crew. That's number one for us, but in addition, DD is super flexible (we can communicate by text and email and adjust schedules whenever necessary) and very reasonably priced. Before we started sending our pit-mix there, we had a dog walker coming to take her on a 25 minute walk each day--now she gets 4+ hours of exercise and socialization for the same price! If you've been doing research on day cares, you'll quickly see that DD is a much better value and no reason to suspect the service is less than top notch. They are a small operation, so in fact, I think our dog gets more attention then she would at a larger facility. Another plus is that they pick up and drop off for free--huge convenience. If I ask my dog Scout if he wants to go to the vet he looks at me with dead eyes. If I ask Scout to go to the park he runs to the door. If I ask Scout if he wants to go to Doggy Dojo he jumps around and does wild excited doughnuts all the way to the door. That's how I know Scout loves the Doggy Dojo as much as I do. Scout has been going to Doggy Dojo for several years now and every experience I have ever had with their team has been positive. Some of the little interactions that make Doggy Dojo great: When I drop Scout off every member of the team knows Scout by name. They always return him with all of the items I left him with (harness / leash / etc.)... I have a difficult time keeping track of that stuff, I don't know how they do it for all their dogs. They are flexible on scheduling. Boarding is cage free. Invoices are emailed and payments can be done online (yeahhh! totes convenient). The cost is reasonable. And Scout looooooves them. The team at Doggy Dojo is friendly, attentive, caring, patient, professional, flexible, easy going, and just down right wonderful. read more

We've been taking our dog to the Dojo for almost a year. We moved into the area and searched around for a dog play group. We have a 3 yr. old beagle/rotweiler mix and she loves to play, at times she acts like she is still a puppy. Due to her size (37lbs.), she was originally placed with the smaller pups. I remember telling Carlos and Oscar that she likes to play with the bigger dogs which they soon realized. I highly recommend the Doggie Dojo. The staff are very attentive, friendly and on time for pickups. My husband and I are extremely pleased because our furry friend is taken care during the day, tired when she comes home and excited to go to the Dojo. We used to use Tucker Pups for overnight stays but now that we know the Dojo offers overnight we would prefer the Dojo. They offer a better price for the play groups, overnight stays and the play area is larger. read more

This place is amazing. I'm a super protective annoying dog mom and I honestly never ever stress when I drop off my pup here. Everyone knows you and the dog by name. They're so friendly. No cages. My dog can be hyper and high maintenance and she comes home so tired. She practically bolts out my car door every time I drop her off because she's so excited to go. The Doggy Dojo is a second home to our dog, Avett. We've been with them since he was a puppy (he's now 3) and we are not going anywhere! The owners, Oscar and Carlos, treat our dog (and us!) like family and have proven themselves over and over again as trustworthy business owners. Before we found the Doggy Dojo, we tried out a few other daycare facilities. Nothing comes close to the level of service, affordability and reliability that Oscar and Carlos offer. Further, their facility is very clean, not overcrowded (as many doggy daycares are), and has an outdoor area. Additionally, their boarding is crate-free. Their offerings and level of service outshine their competitors. Chicago is full of daycares and for anyone searching, the Dojo should be at the very top of your list to check out. What's more - Oscar and Carlos really enjoy what they do and LOVE dogs. In an over-saturated market of daycares and boarding facilities, this is something that you shouldn't have to worry is missing in the care of your dog. The Doj is like Cheers for your dog. At least that's how I like to imagine it. Drop dog off (or get pickup service) and let them canoodle with everybody who knows their name. Oscar and Carlos (+the whole staff really) are top of the heap in this business. Their care and attention is second to none. We have been sending our dog here since he was 6 months and 2.5 years later we would never bring him anywhere else!! Curious what your pup is up to? Duh. We all are. If we could give Doggy Dojo 10/10 stars, we would. Our dog Oshie was been going to daycare with them for over two years. He is always happy when we turn onto Belmont and he knows where he is going. Everyone at Doggy Dojo really cares about the pups. We had done trial days at other daycares in the past where Oshie would come back with scratches or random bumps / bruises. At Dojo, you can tell the employees know the dogs personalities and they facilitate a day with them where the pups who want to play get to play and the pups who want to sleep or hang out do just that. We have never thought twice about leaving him in Dojo's care. There is nothing better than dropping him off, and having someone greet him who knows his name and he is happy to see. We love checking the Instagram story every day to see if there is a photo of him. We joke about Oshie have his "daycare girlfriends" when we see the dogs he likes to play with. We love that there are no toys at Dojo and the dogs are free roam all day. Oshie comes home very tired, and very happy. It is easy for us to tell when Oshie is stressed or unhappy and at Dojo he is the opposite. He is happy and well looked after when he is in their care. read more

We've been using the Doggy Dojo services for the past months for our 6 month old weim and have nothing but fantastic things to say about Oscar and his team. Having a weim requires a lot of attention and commitment to an active lifestyle and Doggy Dojo completely compliments our busy schedule and the needs of our energetic puppy. Before Doggy Dojo, we took him to a combination of classes, training, and hours in the preserve throughout the week, but he would still wake up from his naps wanting to play hours on end, basically running me and my husband ragged. Now that he's going to Doggy Dojo day care, we find him happy, tired, & sleepy in the crate when we come home. Also, we needed dog sitting services over the Thanksgiving holidays and we had Oscar watch over him. Our pup was back home Friday morning with a cute little bandanna, a big smile and smelling surprisingly fresh and clean! :) You can't beat their attentiveness and care for the dogs, the value of their services with pick up & drop off, and their flexibility to work with your schedule. They take cute pics of my dog and post on facebook and instagram, the guy that picks up Yoshimi seems quite nice and Oscar is super pleasant to deal with. I never thought I'd be someone who sends their dog to daycare, but the Doggy Dojo has been great for my dog! At $18 per day including pick up and drop off, I think it's convenient and a good value. I wanted my dog to get some exercise during the winter and also to improve his social skills and my neighbor recommended Doggy Dojo. I've definitely been impressed with their friendliness and flexibility and my dog returns tuckered out from playing all day. I attended a recent open house and the facility is nice and clean. They post photos and videos on facebook so you can see your dog having a good time. I've also used them for boarding and like that my dog gets to stay in a home instead of in a cage. Hands down, this is the absolute best doggy daycare/boarding facility that I have found. I really don't think there is anything that could happen at this point where I would stop using them. I started using The Doggy Dojo before they became the Dojo and opened their new facility and I have been thanking my lucky stars that I found them ever since. At the time, I had a 6 month old very active lab who could never be worn out. For the first few months after starting day care here, Oscar would call me 1-2 times a week to ask how my dog's activity/exhaustion level was at night after a day at the Dojo. If I said that he was still pretty active, he would up the ante and get him more involved with running games. Oscar is TRULY driven to figuring out and giving EACH dog what he/she needs out of day care (some are older or just don't need activity and lounge in the dog beds together in the low energy portion, and some need to chase or be chased and LOVE the room to run on the huge high energy side). Oscar and Carlos renovated the warehouse into a doggy day care/boarding facility with the pups in mind completely. The flooring laid is recycled rubber (great for paws and very easy to keep clean), there is wooden fencing separating different groups of dogs if need be (small dogs, large dogs, high energy, low energy, etc). There is a gated large garage door that opens on nice days and to let the pups out to the outside run for potty breaks or to play in the pools. I also work a crazy work schedule, where many days I leave very early morning and get home early evenings, so it is such a benefit that the Dojo picks up and drops off the pups. After meeting Oscar, you will understand why he is the only person who I would trust to give my house keys and alarm code to. Have I mentioned that this is the MOST AFFORDABLE day care/boarding in the city!? I fear that this may start to sound scripted, but I promise that it is not. I believe so highly in Oscar and Carlos, that I want nothing more than for them and The Doggy Dojo to succeed. They are SUCH TRUE dog lovers, and you can see that from the moment that you first talk to them. They often text or email to let me know funny things that my dog has done during the day, or who his best friend is at the time :) It was really hard for me to find a day care that didn't just babysit my dog(and a boarding facility that didn't just crate my dog with one walk and 2 times out to eat a day). Oscar and Carlos are so involved with the pups, that they know each of their little quirks and qualms. The day before my lab had to have surgery, Oscar sent him home with a good luck bandana, and then text me the following evening to see how surgery had gone. He is honestly just as concerned with your pup as you are. The last 2 things that I love about the Dojo are the cleanliness and the communication. My dog has never come home or become sick from something common that is picked up at daycares like he had in the past at other facilities. Oscar and Carlos keep the Dojo OBSESSIVELY CLEAN. This place really does smell better than a human child's day care : ) If a dog does become sick, Oscar and Carlos send out an email right away telling everyone what the dog has, a description of what it is, symptoms they may show, and what they personally do at the Dojo to prevent it from spreading at their facility. I am pretty sure that the dogs who get sick don't get it at the Dojo...I would probably eat off their sparkling clean floors. Oscar and/or Carlos also send emails out periodically to let you know what is going on at the Dojo (summer time and the pools are out, they are hosting a dog trainer for a class, etc). I have been sending my dog here for a couple of months and I am absolutely thrilled with this company! I only need doggy day care 1-2x weekly and that is fine. I can even text or email the day before and they've never had a problem fitting my dog in. Oscar and Carlos took the time to show me around the facility before my dog's first day, explained how they separate some dogs, and even explained the type of cleaning products they use. At $18 for a half day with pick up and drop-off included, this is something that I can afford and my dog reaps the benefits. She is happy and tired when she's home afterwards.
