My pup is a regular at All-Star, she's a great dane on the small side, but still pretty large. This place just IS fantastic for her and me. They have an indoor/outdoor area for dogs to come/go as they please. I have tried a few different daycares since adopting my dane a year ago. When we pull up to all-star, she is excited. She loves the staff, which is obvious when I hand her over and she could not be more excited to play. I feel that All-Star has curated a really wonderful pack of pups that attend regularly. At other daycares, my dog has been injured, but never from another dog at All-Star. But most noticeably, she is happy when I drop her off and happy when I pick her up. Huge fan of the owner and the team at All-Star! John, the owner, is always generous about giving tips for my dog when I ask. He is extremely knowledgeable and kind. When I travel I leave my dog with All-Star. She seems just as happy after I pick her up from a multiple-day stay than when I pick her up after regular daycare. Highly, highly recommend this place! Our dog comes here every week, and she LOVES it. It's especially great that they have a webcam, so that we can check-in on her during the day and see what she's up to. Spoiler: she's usually trying to wake up a dog during nap time to play with her :). Their boarding service is also awesome, and extremely affordable. We offered to pay for an extra day and drop our dog off the night before, since our flight was so early, but John let us know that we could save money (and spend an extra night with our pup) if he came to pick her up the following morning. During our trip when we checked in on how she was doing, they got back to us quickly on the weekend. I truly LOVE this daycare and wish I could give more stars. The staff are all so wonderful with humans and the dogs - friendly, communicative, easygoing. John (owner) is so generous with his time for clients. He truly goes above and beyond to get your dog set up initially and then is so willing to help after that as well. We love All Star! It's our Pyrenees pup's literal favorite place in the world. He goes 3 days a week but probably wishes he went everyday. John and the rest of the staff are wonderful. Our dog gets boarded there periodically as well. Pricing is very reasonable. There's a webcam from 10-4 so you can peek on your pup and watch them play with their dog friends, which we may do a lil too often than is healthy. Highly recommend! read more

Best owner. Best staff. We boarded our dogs with All Starr while we were on vacation, and they dropped them off at our apartment the day we were supposed to return. BUT our flight was severely delayed and we worried it would be cancelled. We called the owner in kind of a panic-- and without making any big deal out of it he said he'd swing by, pick them back up, and had them stay at his place for the night. Then he texted when they were safely at his place eating their dinner. It was such a relief. The staff are equally great. You can check the webcam and see the dogs at daycare just having the time of their lives. And whenever our dogs see an employee on the street they practically jump out of their skin they are so excited to see them. If you're able this is the place for walks/boarding/daycare. I would recommend them 100 times out of 100. read more

I can't comment on their pet care services, but what I can comment on is the [human] customer service. I called about 2 and half weeks prior to needing to board my dog. As I've never been here before, they required that my vet fax over records, then would be permitted to schedule a temperament test and only after passing the test would I be allowed to ask them to hold a spot for my dog on my selected dates. I suppose they are just covering their bases, but wouldn't a credit card be sufficient to at least hold a spot for a period of time!? Anyway, I specifically asked the person [man] that I spoke to how far in advance I would need to make the appointment, and I also specifically referenced the exact dates that I would need to board. He told me that it can vary, but that they can usually accommodate with a few days of notice. Fine. Great. So I then had to schedule a vet appt to get another vaccine that they required and the dog didn't have, then subsequently had my vet fax the dog's records over. THEN, this same man emailed me complaining that the vet had not sent him a concise enough set of records and that it was THIRTEEN WHOLE ENTIRE PAGES THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO SORT THROUGH. OH THE HORROR. This was followed up with a phone conversation (I called him) where he continued to complain about the records that were sent and challenge me about the fact that my vet is the ONLY vet who has EVER done this to him! He finally conceded that he had what he needed so we could proceed with scheduling a temperament test. Fine. Great. A few hours later, I received a curt email informing me that they no longer had any availability on the days that I needed and that in the future I should call at least 2 weeks prior. (It was 10 days prior at this point) I can only assume that he just decided that he didn't want to do business with someone whose asshole vet had the audacity to send THIRTEEN WHOLE PAGES of records to him and so instead gave me the brush off. Regardless, this guy was annoying as hell from the first interaction that I had with him (though I initially chalked it up to enthusiasm?) and continued to get more and more annoying each time we interacted. I'm sure it's a fine dog boarding facility, but make sure you call well in advance and be ready to play by their rules, because man, will you be lucky as hell if they'll let you purchase their services. P.S. None of the other reputable dog boarding facilities that I have contacted refuse to allow you to reserve a spot prior to jumping through a few hoops. Who knows why, maybe it's because they got confused and think you are the customer. read more

I boarded my australian cattle dog here for a week and watched him online and it seemed like he was being well taken care of. The staff was always helpful when we called in to see how he was doing... Oh and the staff did a temperament test on my dog before we could sign him up which i thought was really responsible.... at first. When we picked up our dog we noticed that he had a HUGE gash on his face. Apparently another dog had bit him a couple of days before we picked him up and no one told us!! For as much as dog boarding costs, I was really disappointed that no one had told us or noticed this! read more

Still giving John and crew 5 stars. Just wanted to comment on the woman (hannah k.) who has never used their service but gave them one star. Seriously!?! How can you review them? That should be taken down! She gave them one star for throwing poop away in the alley . . . SO rogue, those guys. And for the record the outside area she is talking about is only a fraction of the property. The dogs have *p*l*e*n*t*y of room to play indoors, with toys and blankets to lay on, and fun workers who throw balls and wrestle with the dogs on the floor! What more would a dog want than a place to play all day, hunker down for a nap, get in a good walk, and occasionally use the bathroom for relief? But not according to hannah k. . . . Imagine having your dog use the facilities at its leisure instead of having to hold it all day waiting for you to get home; [shudder] the horror! Anyway, still take my dog here almost 3 years later. We moved farther away and I still refuse to take my dog anywhere else. John picks him up from our house in the morning, and we go get him in the evening -- then he sleeps for the next two days, exactly what the exhausted pet owner wants at the end of the week. Okay, this place deserves a 5 star because they are give really good service and its very.. VERY reasonable. John was really nice and recommended me the groomer for my dog Miccah (Shih Tzu) and my dog was soooooooooooooooo HAPPPPPPPPPPPY!!!!!! Sure, you could board your dog at PetSmart and save yourself a couple bucks, but I guarantee there is no way the big box stores can give your pooch even half the care and attention that Jack (John) and crew dole out at All Star. We've boarded Milo over the holidays (and a couple other times when we were out of town overnight) and have had nothing but good experiences here. Jack is always flexible on pick up and drop off times too, which is a big plus. Our last visit was for a grooming and nail trim. Milo's nails were pretty long and one of them ended up getting cut a little too close (no fault of the groomer...this happens quite a bit as he's a squirmy little rat terrier). When I came by to pick him up he had started bleeding a bit (which I hadn't even noticed) and Jack got down on the floor with Milo to apply some meds to his paw. My dog, Leroy, seemed to have a great time here. We needed a daycare place for him for one day while we were having some work done on our condo--he can't resist being constantly underfoot. For us, it was a great location (2 blocks away), GREAT price, and small number of dogs. No contest. Leroy is not really a dog's dog...he much prefers people. So I was a bit nervous leaving him. However the next day, he wanted to go back! He usually crawls in his bed & goes to sleep in the mornings, but instead he followed me around the condo and waited by the door for us to head over there again. I felt bad leaving him at daycare, and then felt bad leaving him at home the next day...you can't win. We will definitely be back in the future. read more

My boyfriend works here so I'm just commenting as someone who knows the guys that work there. We have an English Bulldog that goes in with him at least two/three times a week and she LOVES it and comes home worn out and happy. I know for a fact that he (and the guys he works with) LOVE those dogs! They seriously get spoiled and play all day, it's cute. It's so nice to sit at my desk and be able to check in on the webcam for a little entertainment! I also will say, in response to the claims of people who say their dogs have been bitten, it does happen. I know for a fact though that there are always people watching the dogs every second. Those dogs get undivided attention but sometimes arguments break out and those little tiffs are broken up immediately and things always go back to normal. It's inevitable! They're dogs! In order to prevent it 100% you'd basically have to lock the dogs up, and then the complaints would double! All in all, I just think it's good for people to know that the people that work here are honest and love dogs and baby them like their own pets! read more

The dog gets 3 walks a week and goes to daycare twice a week through All Star. I hate to be one of those dog people, but it really feels like he has caregivers than he does people who simply watch him. They remember his likes and his problems, and let us know if anything unusual happens. I feel like I should write more, to talk them up or annoy the people who gave them bad reviews, but there's not much to say. We tried All Star Pets after a bad experience with another daycare/boarding center, and were so pleased with how professional, knowledgeable & nice the people are at All Star Pets. We've now used them on several occasions for both boarding & daycare, and have always left happy customers. As another reviewer noted, it is basically an empty warehouse where the pups play, rest & run around as they wish. There is also an outdoor area that is open during nicer weather, and used during colder weather for shorter bathroom trips. It's certainly nothing fancy, but the dogs obviously don't care and our pit/lab mix Boca always comes home happy & exhausted :) We also really appreciated how seriously they took cleanliness -- especially after our previous bad experience at another company. All of the tennis balls & dog bowls are regularly cleaned, and you can always see the employees cleaning up immediately if there is an accident. The WebCam they also offer is great, and offers that added bit of reassurance if you are an attached pet owner. Not to mention -- their rates are very fair. These guys are great. Simple as that - What's most important to me is that they take good care of my dog. If you're concerned with image, or a cluttered desk - head somewhere else. If you're looking for a good, trustworthy group of guys who will watch your pet as if it was their own this is the place to go. See, I can offer a unique perspective. I live a few doors down and work from home most days. I see these guy walking dogs all over the neighbored and the dogs are always happy and so are the walkers on the other end of the leash. We have been sending our mutt here for daycare for about 6 months. . At daycare, he runs, barks and dances on his hind legs! And then comes home tired! It's pretty awesome. I like that the dogs are "interviewed" before coming to daycare and that there is lots of space for the dogs inside. Whenever we go out of town, we trust All Star Pet Care. The staff at All Star Pet Care genuinely love dogs and it shows! They are very thorough with screening the dogs that they watch, which, as a dog 'parent,' is very comforting to know! You might expect less from a dog boarding facility, but when it is your dog involved, rest assured that they are looking out for his/her best interest! Our pug loves All Star Pet Care! The best part about their boarding service is that they let the dogs hang out together in one big area, not in individual runs or cages. This really seems to make the dogs enjoy their stay as they become part of the 'pack.' We adopted the love of my life, our Border Collie/Aussie mix, Sasha, in March, 2012. When we adopted her, my poor baby was in rough shape, to say the least. The day after we got her, I walked over and met John at Allstar. Sashes is a bit weary when it comes to strangers, but I knew it was love at first sight when she had NO issue with running up to John for some belly rubs. The following day Sashes was getting daily walks with John or Jimmy. They were both so great with her, and I knew that every day she would be in good hands. I completely trusted John & co. with my dog, as well as with having a key to my apartment! We liked the little notes they left every day, and the occasional pictures of Sasha we would get via e-mail during the day. On a side note, John is extremely knowledgeable about dogs, and could answer every silly question I would ask. Overall, great local business and great people. I probably have the most energetic dog known to man, I hate leaving him in my apartment all day while I'm at work, so I like to take him to All-Star Pet Care so he can play and come home tired and rested. Well that's exactly what happens. My dog loves it there; they even have a webcam where I watch him play with the other dogs. John, the owner, clearly loves animals and so do the rest of the guys working there. I have a pit bull, and they make sure before any dog stays there that it's friendly with other dogs. Also, your dog has to be up-to-date on it's shots/vaccines. If I have to go out of town and need to board my dog, All-Star is where he goes. I know Bud is in good hands and well taken care of. Highly recommended! We've taken our dog here for both boarding and daycare and he loves it! Our dog plays with John and his team along with the other dogs all day and comes home relaxed and ready to just nap on the couch. I recently needed a new day care facility for my labrador retriever Sam, when his former day care closed on very short notice. In a bit of a panic, I remembered that I had seen All Star here on Yelp and that it had uniformly high ratings and glowing reviews. I called John, the owner, and after confirming Sam was up to date on vaccinations, quickly set up a temperament test. They gave him a thorough test to make sure he 'plays well with others', and now he's part of their gang on a daily basis. From watching the webcam constantly (don't tell my employer), I can see that John and his staff are extremely engaged with the dogs - constantly playing with them, tossing a ball around, and taking them outside for potty breaks and occasional walks around the block too. Sam has never been happier (or more tired at night), and he drags me to All Star every morning. I'm very glad to have found such a great facility with a caring, fully engaged staff. read more

I always leave my little Dogwai with John when I need to rid myself of the little monster for one reason or another (and she gives us plenty of good reasons). She consistently has a great time, even though she is a small dog and many of his other resident pups are bigguns. He is great with the dogs and has a good regular group of guests at his place. C'mon sit on ol' jeff's lap an I'll tell ya a story about a beautiful business called All-Star Pet Care: If there was ever a place to give you the real deal, it's all-star. They've handled my daughter and I's dog Charlie well for months now and I swear he comes home smelling better than he does when he's in our very own care. Has to do with staff: a place that gives good care to a dog gives good care to its staff as well, trickle-down happiness. If they're willing to pay their employees under the table to avoid tax hindrances, you know they're going to bend the rules to help your dog out too, and btw we've had last-minute schedules that they've accomodated for us that you probably couldn't get from a regular dog daycare place in Chicago specially. It's not a big deal if they advertise 24-hour staff and, if the boarding attendance is low, just go out to the bars or whatever or maybe sleep at home, cuz I can tell when Charlie's been fed or maybe gets excited and has a hard time sleeping- whatever natural herbal methods to put my dog to sleep are fine with me. They give the dogs freedom to roam around cage-free, unless they do something stupid (the dogs), so they get put in there for a little while just like at home, which is how it should be. Employees make sure that the dogs get full freedom to engage eachother naturally, if you know what I mean, which is part of the joy of being a dog. So if they get real close, even if we all know those two dogs don't get along, I'd do the same thing: wait till they start snarlin n bitin to pull em away... part of bein a dog. Dogs get three walks a day unless ya watch the cam closely - but I'm bettin ya those dogs get outside to do their business at All-Star more than anywhere else. They got a backyard out there, and depending on traffic, you gotta go through the alley to save time and take a gander at the outfit out back. Rigged with plenty of space, a bullet-proof barbed-wire fence, little bit a rust but who doesn't have their at their place at home, and sometimes there's fresh rain water that collects into pools and you know what a happy pup does with that. uses it, damn straight. A shit can's a shit can and they keep that backyard clean, tho if your dog does love a shitpile like Charlie does, it might get its fill for free. The dogs are all screened for vaccines and what not so no big deal as far as mouthful a dog shit go. better than soakin into the indoor facility; if charlie ends up bringing up a stomach-full of some other dog's rear-end, at least we have a clue why the hell he's so darn tired! big day for a dog and that's what we pay for. Can't say I don't love the online webcam: not only can I sit at my job and stare at the screen for what seems like seconds just to find it's been hours, but when you take no audio and add that to slow technology with the web cam and what not, there's really nothing there but the occasional picture to tell me what's going on. Sorta like a phonecall every month from my distant son. Lets me know everything's okay without really worrying me. It might've taken em a few years to jump on board having an air conditioning system in a fairly unventilated, questionably-zoned business space, but I'm pretty sure that thing is installed whether or not it's on when we come to pick charlie up, which is kinda like the webcam: I know it's there. All in all, without All-Star Petcare, I'd have to buy my friend a case of beer to get the same kind of service, and to be honest, that's how much their daycare service costs. Might as well just leave it to the professionals and keep drinkin and dogwatchin separate. 5/5 and thank you allstar read more

My dog gets excited just walking down the sidewalk on our way to ASPC. when we pick her up after work, she comes home, eats dinner, then goes to bed because she has been playing all day. it's great to know she can have a fun day in the care of good people who love dogs just as much as I do. When I saw all the reviews for All Star I had to give them a try. Normally we bathe Mac and Puggie ourselves because they have had so many bad experiences with groomers. They were soft , silky and smelled incredibly clean. I also warned them that my older dog has issues with nail trimmings and they were as gentle as could be. I really think its the staff writing all these reviews... I read all the reviews on here, citysearch, etc. and thought this sounded like a great place to board my dog. It's right around the corner from my house, which would be much more convenient than driving all the way up to the Bark Bark Club on Broadway, where we usually board my dog. I chose this place over all the others specifically because it said they have 24 hour staff. When I'm away, I want to make sure someone is with my dog at all times. First I called and talked to John, the owner. He sounded very flustered - there were a lot of dogs barking in the background and he couldn't hear me well. OK, fair enough. I faxed him my dog's vaccination records and called back that afternoon. He had to call me back, and when he did he tried to get me to have my dog come for a day of daycare (at my expense) so she got used to the facility. I declined and we scheduled the temperament test. When we arrived for the temperament test, the first thing I realized was that there is no A/C. My dog is short haired and small and she was panting up a storm, lying on the floor. I can't imagine how big, hairy dogs would be. Next I noticed how disorganized everything was. It was the end of the day so things were hectic, but the desk was completely cluttered with things, and we had to tell the staff twice who we were. When they were getting dogs to be picked up by their owners, several of the dogs got out and my husband and I had to help chase them down. They even said "yeah, this is why we like to do temperament tests during the DAY." Um, sorry to inconvenience YOU, we have jobs. When they tried to take my dog back for the test, she put on her brakes and would NOT go back. The guy had to drag her. That should have told me something right then. Normally she LOVES people. When she was in the pen, she did nothing but try to get out. She has never acted that way before. When we were done, the guys took our information (which took a long time because they kept getting it wrong, even though I spelled it). I asked what happened now - did they have us booked for the boarding dates? I was told "No, but you'll be fine. Just call us a couple days before to remind us you're coming." Ummm....ok.... Then, just to confirm, I said "You guys have 24-hour staff, right?" His reply was, "Yeah, talk to John about that. Sometimes if there's just a couple dogs here he'll leave them and go home." NOT OKAY. If you don't have 24-hour staff (and apparently you don't), don't advertise that you do! I knew right then that even if they told me someone would be there, I had no way of knowing if they actually would. That sealed the deal for me. I called the next day and cancelled my non-existent reservation. Go to Canine Crews instead. I know the owner personally and she is fantastic. Everything is highly organized - you can even do reservations online once you are an existing customer. They send a report card of your dog's activities every night, with pictures. PLUS, they offer a COMPLIMENTARY day of daycare for your dog to become familiar with the facility before you board them. And by the way - when my dog went to this place for her temperament test, she was happy and excited to be there. read more

My dog Chewie (Yellow Lab 90lbs) has boarded with All Star Pet Care multiple times while we are on vacation (longest stay was 5 nights). Been bringing my Puggle here for years and this crew has always been above and beyond accommodating. They're flexible with my schedule and my dog always gets hyped up every time we start waking over there. They recently moved to a new location which is out of my walking range. For those of us who don't have a car (and suffer from cabs or Uber's who will accept dogs), they set up a bus service to pick up the dogs at the old location and bring em to daycare. Then they drop em back off at he same spot where you can pick em up. Guys...the cuteness of this is beyond anything I can describe. It's like I'm dropping my little girl off for school !! I love it! We've been using All Star for roughly two years now. This service is everything you would hope for from a doggie daycare. My dog's absolutely love John and lose it every-time he comes to pick them up. John is always available by email, is extremely flexible about scheduling, 100% dependable, and you can tell how much he really loves your animals. It's obvious how hard our dogs play while they are there, because they often are asleep on the couch within a couple minutes of being dropped off. In response to Hannah K's review: We actually switched to All Star because our younger dog came home smelling like pee almost everyday from our previous provider. This has not happened once with All Star. If you think about it, there's only so much they can do to prevent this (dogs will be dogs), it probably should happen occasionally. Finally brought my dog Mochi here for his first day care, during the 15 minute orientation (to determine if he'd be a good fit in the pack), John was also very thorough and carefully examine his behaviors before he decided he could be enrolled. The facility is a little small and chaos when you walk in but they are in a highly populated area so it's inevitable. We live near by in Logan Square and love the convenience of dropping off our schnauzer, Jean Pierre (JP) for boarding when we head out of town for a few days or for vacation. All Star staff are super friendly and have been flexible with us based on our travel plans. We have also used their walking service for long work shifts so the little guy doesn't have too much time in the crate. All Star also has a pet camera feed so we can check in. read more
