This super cute and vibrant bakery has two display cases filled with assorted pastries and beautifully decorated cakes that would be the center of attention for any occasion, sometimes in shapes of kawaii animals. On this visit I was craving something sweet and bought a few...one for now another for breakfast and the gentleman there was just a delight waiting patiently for me to make my choices...cream horn, hot dog, and apple pie. Picked up a birthday cake for my daughter's 22nd Birthday. It was fantastic! Top tier. They are on the smaller side and not cheap but well worth the quality and artistic value. The free shared parking is very convenient - as are all of the food vendors along the strip. Home + Bakery has beautiful refrigerated fruit and cream cakes. The bear and piggy cakes look too cute to eat! I was drawn to the individually wrapped pastries which are great for takeout consumption. Right by the cash register was a batch of hotdogs. I tried one - hmmm - the bun is like a regular hotdog bun. Nothing really outstanding. The hotdog was average, too. It just looked fancy! The taste was alright. The next day, I went back. The super polite lady wasn't there. Instead, the younger gal seemed kind of upset because she had just finished dealing with a difficult customer before me. Sorry. I asked for a sausage pastry because I like savory. Eh - it was ok. The pastry is very airy and soft. Taste wise, it's not memorable. I went back to make sure - and got a croissant. It's not buttery nor flakey. The outer layer barely has a crispness. It's more on the light side. The size is deceiving - there are many air pockets... Haha! Maybe I should go back for a cake. This is a message for the management or owner of this bakery- if you want to sell cream tarts, figure out a better way to hold the tart. You cannot have your untrained staff shove it inside a narrowly sized bag and smash the cream and still expect to sell it. We go to this bakery in town for one specific item. Butter croissants with NO glaze! The croissants are buttery, and when pulled apart, there's that crispy, flaky, pull apart glutenous texture that makes a croissant a croissant. During our discussion with the staff there, we discovered that the batter for the croissants are shipped in from Korea. After having the pastries and breads in Korea, we can attest that the croissants are the "real deal". Go ahead and preorder plain croissants without the glaze. Yum! read more

I have been eyeing out the cakes at this bakery for months! We shop at Don Quijote periodically and you cant miss this bakery because it is right next to the entrance. They always have the cutest cakes on display and I have always wanted to try one. So for my birthday this year we decided to order one! We ordered Fruit Cake #1 ($26.98) this is a 6" cake, which is perfect since it was for only 3 of us. When we picked up the cake, it came in this really well made box carrier, a plastic cutting knife, a cute happy birthday topper, and 3 candles! We did ask them to write my name on as well :] Because this cake was already so pretty, I only added a couple things to it to make it really personalized my birthday. So full disclosure I added my own star toothpicks and sailor moon prop. The cake came with a handful of fresh fruits on top. The flavor of the cake was not too sweet, light and moist (which is the perfect Japanese style cake in my opinion). It was filled with some light whipped cream and fruit in the middle. These are crazy times and small business really needs our help. So, utilizing my last American Express, shop small credit, I decided to try this bakery I often walk past, but never patron. The lady there was super polite, friend, and efficient! She even picked out the best-looking apple turnover for me! They have a wide selection of baked goods, but they did run out of raisin bread, which apparently is a big draw. The seem to have more sweet than savory choices, but that might be because I went after lunch. They also have a wide variety of gorgeous looking cakes, but that's for another day, and for a post-COVID party. I picked up an apple turnover, cream bun, cranberry vanilla bun, and a custard bun for a little over $11 with tax to bring over to my parents' house. The apple turnover was incredibly flakey, but without that overpowering butter taste that off balances so many turnovers. The filing was a good amount of apples with just the right sweetness The cream bun had a light and airy cream filling, with super soft bun breading. The cranberry bun was also super soft with a slightly sweet, slightly tart cranberry flavor. The custard bun had a good amount of very smooth, and light custard with a sprinkling of almonds in, you guessed it, super soft breading. They take American Express! Parking is easy with the two large parking lots servicing the shopping center. There were never any sit-down areas in the shop before COVID, but the nearby benches have been removed, so eat in your car, or drive down to the beach park nearby and enjoy your pastries 6 feet apart from each other. 3.5 stars. read more

While the cake looked tasty, it was far from it. The cake was sour and it was clearly spoiled. After attempting to return the cake and brining back a few slices for the shop to taste, the older ANGRY KOREAN WOMAN refused to hear anything that we had to say. She kept slamming her hands on the glass counter and acted out a classic scene from a K-Drama - with so much theatrics, yelling and condescending remarks . I have never experienced such poor customer service before. The worst part is, I hadn't looked at the yelp reviews before making my purchase here. This place was okay, they made the cakes look cute and packaged them nicely bit flavor wasn't there. Also there is some miscommunication with the worker. We asked what kind of cake it was and it seemed like she was just trying to sell the cake and make it sound better then it is. We even spoke jorean with the worker but it didn't help. We asked what was in the fruit cake and the lady said it was a strawberry shortcake so we got it. When we cut into it there was just a little other fruits inside. They also charge for candles without mentioning the charge. We asked if they had candles and she said she would just give us one since we ordered 2 cakes ( which at other baker's they give you candles for free with purchase) she gave us 2 candles and charged us for one even when we didn't need it. Glad this bakery was right outside of DonQ! Finished shopping for home yakiniku celebration and didn't want to drive to another location for a birthday cake. We were debating between the Strawberry Cake with gum balls and macaroons on it, or the Fruit Cake. We went with the Fruit cake ($42) because the employee said that it was also strawberry cake in it. To our surprise, the cake contained fruits that weren't the same as the ones on top of it. The fruits in the cake were like the fruit cocktail we would get in school. Squared pears, peaches and etc. We were hoping it would have the berries or be more strawberry as she said. $42 is around other strawberry cakes from other places but the Fruit Cocktail was unusual. They are occupying the space that used to house KFC at next to the front entrance. Very convenient! Similar to the many other Asian bakeries in Honolulu, they have a limited selection right now. New bakery in front of Don Quijote. They have a wide range of cakes and breads. There are full cakes as well as individual serving sizes. I had the green tea slice which was really good! It had a handful of fruits on top: grapes, black berries, and half a strawberry. The cake was light and moist and they had some jam in between the layers as well as whip cream. It had a nice green tea taste and a fruity taste that I wasn't able to identify. My friend got the sweet potato cake which I had a bite of and that too was nice a light with a bit of sweet potato taste to it. It made me wonder if the doggy cakes that are made out of sweet potato tastes similar with a lower quality. But when I got there (on time), they had sold it to a walk-in customer just because "sometimes people don't pick up their reserved cakes". He was saying that 2 years ago, I paid cash $100 and got change, eighty dollar something. ( that's what he said) but i changed the payment with credit card after so i got $100 back. so that they owe me eighty dollar something. I realized that it's a scam. Spoke to the bakery owner and he said they have been opened since August. Nice corner location next to the entrance of Donquihote. Was KFC there? Can't recall but when they close it's all pictures of burgers on exterior. Kind of weird for a bakery? Ordered croissant 3 stars pretty standard bakery item Sesame ball bread made with mochi center and crispy outer crust. Sesame flavor is nice and mochi center really chewy. Odd combination but it works. 3 stars. Almond cream pastry. I was expecting a creamy center but it was not the case. Crust was nice, buttery hints and center is a crumbly moist thing. Bits of almond on bun and in crumbly filling. Like a chicken tail bun from Hong Kong. 2 stars. I have yet to try the honey castella cake. Can't wait! Update: honey cake was a dry dry thing. Was it because I put it in fridge? 1 star. Might be 4 star if you eat right away? I'll try again next time. Walnut sweet bread 3 stars. Pulled a portion of the bread out and took a bite. We bought a cake from here today for a birthday. Upon serving the cake, several people were mentioning that the case tasted spoiled. I tried the cake and immediately tasted stale, slimy fruit. I returned to the bakery with 1/4 of the cake so they could see and/or taste it. I proceeded to explain to the older lady (mother of the owner) that I had just purchased the cake a couple hours earlier and that while at the birthday party we discovered that the cake and fruit was spoiled. The lady began to slam the counter with both her hands and said that it was impossible for it to be spoiled. She said that she made several cakes that morning and none of them were spoiled. I asked her if she tasted the cake and she replied it's impossible to taste the cake before she sold it, so I said exactly! You didn't taste the cake so how can you say for certain that it's not spoiled? She then proceeded to ask why we didn't return the whole cake? I explained to her that the cake was cut up and served to several guests, once they complained of it tasting spoiled, I tried it and confirmed it was spoiled. I then brought back the remainder of the cake for them to try themselves. The lady refused to try the cake or even look at it. She stated that she's been in business for a long time and no one's ever complained of the cake being spoiled. I then asked her if she was accusing me of lying and she said that it's impossible for the cake to be spoiled. I was extremely disappointed with her refusal to accept the fact that there was a possibility that the cake could be spoiled. Her customer service skill was completely non existent. She basically said that she doesn't care if we never return or if we left a bad review. For a bakery to be so arrogant to think that there was no possible way that one of their item was spoiled is completely mind boggling. I would've been ok with just an apology or store credit, but the lady's attitude was pretty much "Too Bad". I will never ever visit this bakery again and will tell all my friends and family to stay away unless you want to deal with an angry Korean lady with ZERO customer service skills. read more

Truly a work of art and a labor of love by the baker. He was a very energetic, engaging man, and his clerks are just as nice.
