This cute and sweet bakery is a hidden gem in Downtown Honolulu. I was looking for a talented local baker who could meet very specific requests. I have traveled a great deal and have acquired a taste for specialty cakes. I was looking for a specific flavor, Dubai Chocolate, and a specific look and, for the most part, Honolulu Rose Cake Shop did not disappoint. The cake looked amazing. I'm sorry that I don't have pictures but if you look at her work on Instagram, then you'll know that she's an artist. We were a little out off by the frosting because it was a bit thick and buttery, definitely not recommended for eating leftovers on the next day. I don't think Dubai Chocolate is an easy flavor to deliver, to be honest, as a cake. Without the frosting, we loved the cake. Love this cute little bouquet bakery downtown. Also love that it's super close to my office, making it incredibly easy to pick specialty items up for events. I don't come often, mostly for my better half's birthday and valentine's day as it is a bit of a splurge. However, it is absolutely worth the money as the quality of the baking, decorating, and ingredients can be tasted. This is not mass-produced stuff that you'd get at a certain blue and white themed bakery up the street. As for the only real nearby competitor, Beyond Pastry, they're more pastry and savory rather than cakes and confectionaries. Both are delicious but different niches. You can order online or just drop in and see what's in the display case for the day. Usually there's a good mix of whole cakes, cake slices, cookies, cheesecakes and other stuff you probably should not eat in one sitting alone. Everything I've gotten from Rose Cake Shop, from a strawberry cake to matcha cheesecake, to the cookies has been delicious. The owner is polite and easy to talk to. Been coming on and off here for about a year and Wow! Serena never ceases to surprise us. Mini cheese cakes... a wide array of eat and go bao, Cakes... more cheese cake... They've got this cheese cake that's unique where it's whipped. Like a cross between a traditional NY style and a Japanese style cheese cakes. Occasionally they have this honey loaf or whatever.. I love them because they are a family-run business that specializes in desserts that are "not too sweet." For Asians this is a huge plus and they get 5 golden stars because every dessert I've got from them never disappointed me in being too much of a headache to eat. My favorite strawberry shortcake is from here and I always like to get it :). Their cupcakes are also delicious and do not give me that headache I usually get when something is super artificially sweet (you know what I'm talking about). First review of the new year! Called to order a green tea and strawberry 6" cake for celebrating new years eve with friends. Their price was really reasonable. Selena was very responsive to my questions and made the cake fresh that morning for me. The taste was really good, everything was really fresh, the cake itself was nice and moist and there was just the right amount of cream between each layer. This is a small bakery shop in downtown Honolulu. It's in the hallway of the building so you'd have to go inside to see it. I stopped by here to get a treat for my coworker since it was his birthday. I got the pumpkin crunch for him and mentioned that, so the lady at the counter offered a candle, which was perfect. She even let me pick the color and gave me a bag. So we got 6 lemon and 6 strawberry cupcakes. The owner was very kind and able to make cupcakes for me on the same day I ordered! They were so cute and the owner even put buttercream on the bottom of each one so they wouldn't slide! For the cupcakes itself... Honestly they were really really dry and tasteless the day of, and pretty much all of my friends agreed... Seeing...hearing...and been wanting to visit this shop after much buzz I was just super excited to have seen them being a part of the Food and New Product Show at the Blaisdell this past October 2023. Not to pass up this opportunity to sample their treats scanning it all and deciding was the real dilemma as they had Cinnamon Rolls (Original, S'mores, Oreo, Pumpkin and Ube), Cookies (Brown Butter, Ube Oreo and Strawberry), Cupcakes, Mini Cheesecake and Pumpkin Crunch Cake. With having a friend that just celebrated her birthday I decided to get a couple of Cinnamon Rolls...Ube and Pumpkin so I have no idea how they were but the first thing they said how beautiful they were and I do agree, and also grabbed a few cookies that were huge by the way...Ube Oreo and Strawberry. This moment...the phone was too slow to eat first sadly but that I can describe as the Strawberry had the absolute cute and dainty look as the pink blush cookie was dried in white chocolate sprinkled with some adorable pearl like confetti and was just the right amount of sweetness but it was the Ube Oreo that got the unexpected...woah from us...a friend that I shared it with lol! Amazing flavor done so beautifully and packed in a simple cellophane bag it held it's own solid without any breakage until consumed I just can't wait to visit their shop and see it all as this sweet little bougie place is a delight. Another downtown gem that is worth your while! I absolutely love Asian style bakeries because they're not as sweet compared to American bakeries. We all know how downtown parking can be so your best options are either street parking or by the post office for an hour (or less if you're just grab and go). Her shop is located right across from the CPB building and in the same location as Allegrini Mozzarella. I came around lunch time so there was still a good amount of selections left. I originally had my eye on the Strawberry Matcha Shortcake but the person in front of me snagged the last one.....so I compromised by ordering three other cakes to fill the void... I got to try the regular Strawberry Shortcake, Earl Grey Cheesecake and Mango Cheesecake and I loved it all but much to my surprise, my favorites were the cheesecakes! I truly don't care for cheesecake because of how heavy it is but she somehow created the right balance; I was so reluctant about sharing it with my family (tbh I regretted it) I love that her flavors are so prominent! It's almost been a month since I last had it and I still think about her cheesecake. The prices may not be what most people are used to but for the quality, I think it's worth it. This bakeshop is an Asian style so I am guessing that all their bake good are on the lighter side. I return here another day and tried their traditional Korean drink, Su Jung Ga. It's like a gingerly drink with cinnamon, jujube and pine nuts. It's more of a healthy drink like you would get at Lanikai juice. Very refreshing if you like ginger. Found this place by happenstance. Walked through a hallway simply because I wanted to see what was there. I bought the ube cake. It's the texture of tiramisu but with a creamy ube flavor. The girl behind the counter was very cognizant and aware. As I talked to my family about eating in the car, she asked if I wanted individual boxes and forks instead of a large box for all of our little cakes. She was also very personable. I think this is a family business and perhaps she's the daughter. Maybe the mom might have been the busybody in the background baking and stuff. If I'm ever in that area... I think their cakes are worth an extra 15 minute jog. Support them and maybe they can make more of what I like in a bigger place. Needed a cake in 4 days for my sister's birthday and they had no problem with the time! Easy communication, texted and gave all the details. Very nice visual. My family loves strawberry shortcake, and matcha, so I just had to order their matcha strawberry shortcake flavor! I asked for cherry blossoms drawn onto the chocolate to give the cake a bit more color, but they came out a little messy. It's okay, it wasn't ruining the cake or anything! There were little pieces of added edible gold which definitely elevated the whole look. Now to the actual cake itself. The taste was pleasant. Like a strawberry short cake with a TINY hint of matcha, unless you get a scoop of the cream with the matcha powder on it. Would've liked a stronger matcha flavor. There was too much cream and not enough strawberry. The whole cake was falling apart as you cut into it because there was just way too much cream within and on the cake. Very messy. My husband saw some people posting this new place in the downtown area where they sell slice cakes, cookies, cheesecake, and puddings. Because the pass couple of days they had a soft opening of their store when I got there this morning not to much selection to choose from. The worker did say to me sorry whatever you see here in the showcase is all they got. Will try to replenish the items by the end of the week or early next week. I brought their banana pudding, strawberry chocolate cake, cookie butter cinnamon roll and the cookie butter cookie. The taste on all was ok not to sweet. Because located on merchant Street and in a alleyway between two buildings you have look for their name that's hanging from the ceiling above their doorway. Read a few Yelp reviews of this new bakery. I convinced my wife that we should give them a try. The bakery is located in Downtown Honolulu with no readily available parking. I dropped my wife off and had her pick up some of the delicious looking baked goods (from posted pictures). I wanted a cinnamon roll and the strawberry cake. It was about ten thirty when I dropped her off. They were out of the strawberry cake, so she got me a chocolate strawberry cake. They didn't have a regular cinnamon roll, so she got one with cookie crumbles on top. Other items picked up were banana pudding and a short bread cookie, which had some kind of topping. Both of us were very disappointed at what we bought. The pudding in the banana pudding was bland, all though you could taste the bananas. The cinnamon roll was dry, both the bun and topping. Chocolate strawberry cake did no better. Short bread cookies were not what I expected. It was not the western buttery flavor that I expected. The good was that a young person explained that they had just finished their soft opening week and was trying to restock. The workers were helpful and friendly. I originally posted a very positive review 4 months before but here is an update. I used to come here often but as I've been busy, come out only once in a while. Today, I picked up a tiramisu cake and I am utterly disgusted at what u found...MOLD. Bright black mold all over the back side. I don't realize and took a small bite from the front until my boyfriend pointed out random black spots on the back. Completely disgusted and nauseous. We got another item as well but I'm going to say it's safe to assume that product will be unfresh and poisonous to eat. I really wanted to like this place more, but didn't. Don't get me wrong, was the strawberry cake light and fluffy and not too sweet? Yes it was. Was it the best I've ever had? No. Was it worth ~8? No, I've had better for slightly cheaper. I also tried an assortment of Oreo cheesecake, red velvet and the chocolate cupcake. The Oreo cheesecake was really good and something I'd get again. The red velvet and the chocolate cupcake is definitely something I'd pass on now that I've tried. We had strawberry shortcake and beef bulgogi buns. Super ono. Shortcake is light & not too sweet while the beef bulgogi bun really satisfied my savory tooth. Been wanted to try them out since they open a shop in Downtown. I went around little before noon, the cases are not fully stocked. I wanted to try red velvet, but they don't have it. The slices they have are strawberry and PB. I opt for a slice of strawberry shortcake and a chocolate cupcake. The strawberry shortcake is not sweet, although the cream is little toward liquid side and cake itself is not fluffy enough. The strawberries are sour, need to be careful which brand to use. I pay about $12 or $13 for 2 items. They have street parking outside and they locate inside the building behind Podmore. I probably won't be back. Although owner very nice. read more

Was treated to a slice of the lilikoi cheesecake. Presentation was lovely! Pretty box with window to view the contents. A dainty fresh flower blossom decorating cake slice. All of those little extra touches to enhance a delightful cake experience. I shared my dessert but wish I didn't have to...it was so yummy! It was the perfect amount of light sweet and light tart. Heard about this new bakery and decided to give it a try! It's such a cute little hole in the wall, but really it's a hidden Gem! She's located on merchant St. There is some metered parking right in front, you walk in and you'll see her sign! There's also ample parking not far from the bakery. You'll have to get there early since she does tend to sell out. From my understanding she's the only person in there baking, so have some patience she's a 1 person show. But it's all worth it! I got a slice of cheesecake and it was absolutely delish! The smores cinnamon roll was also to die for! So flavorful without being overly sweet which is hard to do with a cinnamon roll but she managed to! The Korean drinks are so refreshing! I definitely recommend grabbing both so you have no regrets .
