Trip charge and diagnostic fee $215 which includes a fuel surcharge. Tech spent ~10 minutes and diagnosed the issue as a failed capacitor. New capacitor quoted at $600 additional for the one on the truck (universal) or $400 for the specific part and would be in within a few days. To this day, the pitch about "universal part now for $600" or "wait a few days for the specific part at $400" does not sit will with me the more I think about it. I paused the repair to do a little homework and discovered that Home Depot carried the capacitor for my A/C for ~$40. I'm not saying home depot's quality is the same as what the HVAC industry uses, but $400 for a $40 retail part and a straightforward repair took me by surprise. I did call the office and verified the tech was quoting accurate pricing which was based off a "national catalog and pricing". I would have been ok paying maybe $300 total which is an acceptable markup on the capacitor because of the price floor in our area, convenience of having someone else do the work and supporting local business. However, I could not wrap my head around an additional $400-$600 on top of the $215 I already paid on a ~$40 retail part. I do think the diagnostic fee was fair and appreciated the prompt availability. All persons I dealt with were polite and courteous. I will not be using Home Comfort Alliance again. read more

I had the worst experience ever!! Worst customer service. Worst treatment by another human being! he was there for NO MORE than 15 min to "fix" our problem! We woke up to a 73 degree home when it was set for 69 degree. Of course, I called them and OF COURSE, they couldn't come out until the end of the week! I was so glad I ended up calling another hvac company because within minutes of opening the side panel on the AC unit, he saw the leak from the accumulator right away! The refrigerant connectors are located on the outside of the ac unit, so I know for a fact he didn't open the side panel. So the $100 level 2 diagnostic is a joke!! read more

Chose them through Costco and would not recommend them unless they get serious about their quality of work. Three major callouts 1) I chose to include the UV Air-Purifier add-on that supposedly helps kills germs but found out 3 months later that they forgot to install it in the first place 2) called them in the first month under warranty, when the HVAC turned off automatically and the technician asked to just wipe off the water beneath the unit and put back the water sensor switch. At this time I was new to the internal specifics, but later realized this was a dumb fix and there was serious water accumulation, rust and corrosion inside the unit 3) the technician who came for the first complementary check up did not even check the upstair units, just checked some coolant levels and left. Overall worst experience and I am sad Costco even recommended them read more

What a nightmare of a company to work with. They overcharge for everything. I recently paid for an annual service call, and they charged me twice; once for the annual service which I don't think they did, and once to troubleshoot a broken compressor. They blamed the malfunctioning compressor on the electrical panel and wanted to charge me to send one of their electricians. It all smelled fishy to me, so I sent my own electrician who was able to diagnose that the problem was with the compressor on the unit that Home Comfort installed. Somehow Home Comfort thought I should pay them for their faulty troubleshooting. Plus, they charged $2k for a warranty replacement of a compressor. When I called to complain that they were charging me the troubleshooting fee in error the phone woman said there was nobody there who could help me. She concocted some kind of BS story about how at 4:00 PM they do not have customer service agents. Also, be warned that their very high annual fee to come check on your furnace/AC/heat pump/whatever does not include a filter; you have to go get that and do it yourself. They will sell you the furnace and they will charge you a shit ton for that and annual service, but they will not give good customer service. read more

Can't recommend highly enough, Sam and Scott. They made sure my heat pump replacement was level on a new concrete pad, the furnace was installed properly with many tests, added all new condensation PVC pipes, new flexible gas line for earthquake protection, build custom duct fittings in their vehicle and programmed my new Google Nest. I appreciated all the explanations and staying much later than expected to finish the job in 1 day. They cleaned up after themselves as well. They exceeded my expectations! read more

We got several estimates to install a Mitsubishi mini split in our living room. HCA gave the best price and was recommended by our neighbor for whom they had installed a heat pump purchased from Costco. They showed up on the scheduled installation day and took about 4 hours to do the job. I was extremely impressed by the installers and the result. Particularly their electrician was very friendly and helpful. He also fixed for free a couple of nagging issues lingering from when we had our electric panel replaced a couple of years ago. The heat pump unit is functioning quietly and flawlessly albeit haven't had a chance to really give it a workout due to very mild weather. Will update if we need any service in the future but for now an emphatic 5 stars. read more

We paid for a new AC & heat pump mid June and had installation. Since that appointment, we have had 7 technicians coming out trying to troubleshoot as the unit is still not functioning. My husband and I have had 7 days of work interrupted, I am 7.5 months pregnant and the AC is still not functioning. We have escalated with home comfort alliance manager James and he refuses to call us back or acknowledge our issue. We are at a loss that you can pay for a ~$20,000 unit and have little to no customer service or care. We just want a unit that works. I would be very cautious on working with this team because if an issue happens to arise, you will not get base level customer service. We are now having to explore legal options for recourse. I wrote this review a year ago at google. I just realized I didn't write yelp. There were a lot of cancellations with schedule, no call, no show. Or showed up with the wrong parts, or knew nothing about the job. Always a different person. Finally today, one guy came to do the install of the furnace, and it is not working. The old one was working, just really old, so we then have no heat on a night that's freezing temperatures. I have 2 small children and that is not acceptable. I tried to call many times, left messages and no one called me back. It is VERY hard to get hold of them. Also, the intake duct was not completely sealed. It has large gaps a 1/3 of multiple seams. Very unprofessional and we regret using this company. We paid a lot of money and as most people would, expect a quality product, considering we got them from Costco. Very disappointed. Update: manager contacted to us and communication is a little better. Finally, the last guy has come to add 2 ducts today but edges look like trash. Too much seal, and edges could be much cleaner. Very low quality work done. Another weird thing is with this company asked for the whole payment before the job was done. I had a tremendous experience working with this team. From the first consult with Bobby, I trusted his advice and recommendations for a purchase you (hopefully) only make every 15-20 years, so my knowledge was limited. Bobby provided the pros and cons of each option presented to help build my confidence in the purchase. It's not a fun purchase to make, but at least I knew I was getting the right solution for our home. After the decision, we were able to get an install booked ASAP, which was nice as temperatures were dropping! As for the install team, Drew and Josh were total pros - they were punctual, great communicators and thorough. This is a belated review for excellent service early last month for our furnace. Our thermostat burned out, the second time in a year (12 months apart), the prior company closed (owner retired) and this was the first time we have used Home Comfort Alliance. The assumption was an intermittent short between the furnace and thermostat. The house is 120 years old with the furnace in the basement and lathe and plaster walls up to the thermostat in the living room. Kevin was our technician. He had an electrician come out to confirm the voltage and wiring as best they could. The best option was to install an equipment interface module on our Carrier furnace that communicates wirelessly to the new thermostat. It also allows us the monitor/control the temperature remotely. I could not have possibly asked for better service than I got from Kevin. The price was quite reasonable. I will always ask for Kevin if needed in the future. read more

I paid over $16,000 to have an new air conditioning unit placed in my home. When Home Comfort was waiting for me to pay they could not have been nicer. The unit was installed this week and makes a very loud humming noise. I asked Home Comfort to stop by to check to make sure that the installation was correct. They could not come out the same day i called ( even though i called close to 9:00 am). It took me three different phone calls and text messages before they got back to me. They made an appointment for today with the technician supposed to be at my home by 3:00. At 3:40 i texted Home Comfort -- they assured me that the technicians would be here -- they were just running behind. At 6:30pm no technician and no call or text to tell me that they would not make it. This is NOT the type of service I expect for an expensive system. They need to do better but if I could do this over i would stay far away from this company. read more

Thank you for responding to my comment HCA, but I didn't find this to be necessarily true and plenty of contractors give you quotes for free. Again, how else would one compare quotes? You get three (which is standard) and you are approx three hundred dollars in already before any work is done. I went with a different contractor here (with no fee) and am satisfied with the price and service. read more

Im giving this review to the local HCA contractor M M Comfort Systems. ( 2 star rating because their technicians are/were solid.) That said since the install was booked 10/2022 and performed we had to have them replace both the thermostat AND the WIFI adapter due to being defective. It took a direct call to COSTCO cust service to get a response from M M Comfort Systems. Now as the weather has warmed up we went to use our new AC And the effing condenser fan is frozen! The pump is cycling and immediately shutting of while getting dangerously hot. read more

I've used them for six years and they even installed an AC unit for me. However, I will be using a different company going forward for my maintenance needs. In trying to replace my furnace filter this week, I was unable to remove the access panel after the furnace had been serviced by one of their technicians in December. I called the office and the tech was sent the next day. Surprise, the technician was also unable to remove the access panel and ultimately had to also remove the upper panel to access the filter area. Even though the issue was obviously due to the servicing tech in December, I was still charged for the service call. Not the type of customer service I want to give my business to. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. We went through Costco to order 3 mini split units for our home 3 months ago and are still dealing with this donkey show of a business. Our original install date was pushed back 45 days because they forgot to order all of the equipment. Their "customer service" team had no clue what was being installed or when. When we finally had an install date the installers showed up with only two of the 3 units we purchased. They installed the two units but told us a remote wasn't included. I was able to get one unit to work via the Samsung app but guess what?! We came home this evening and there was water pouring out of the unit that was working. So as it stands now, we PRE PAID $35,000 for one units that doesn't work and another that leaks all over our carpet. AGAIN....stay away from this place and shame on Costco. I originally got a round of estimates from MM (via Home Depot) and others in 2018 to have a four-head ductless system installed, but decided that I couldn't bring myself to spend that much money when it doesn't get that hot here. Well, it does now. I started getting estimates toward the end of June before things got really busy. I went through Costco, not knowing who the contractor would be, and it was MM. Russell came out and ran through the options and got an estimate to me quickly. (They install Lennox, I believe, if you go through Costco, and I wanted Mitsubishi, so I opted out of the Costco program.) Since I already had estimates from the "Lion" company (who wanted $28k for what ended up costing me about $14.5k) and another company who turned out to no longer be licensed, I told Russell I'd sign the paperwork that day if the numbers were the same. The work started was scheduled for early August and I was moved up a week, which was a treat. Installation took about a day and a half and mostly consisted of running the hoses through my attic. Everyone was polite and professional. Everything worked great when the crew fired up the system. The next day, however, I noticed water dripping from a frozen wall unit, with another wall unit not blowing any cold aid. Had a tech out the next day who knew what the problem was before he got there (switched wires). After that was fixed it's been pure bliss. The head units and compressor are super-quiet, and I can get the room down to sub-arctic temperatures if I want (it seems like a capable heater, as well). As an aside, Mitsubishi uses 1980-era remote controls that do very little, and the optional wi-fi adapter is expensive and (apparently) terrible. I ended up getting Cielo Breez Plus thermostats, which lets me control everything from a console on the wall or via my phone. MM loses a star for health safety. The original lead showed up on the first day with a raspy throat and occasional cough. I wasn't thrilled about that, but we were both vaccinated, he kept his mask on and I propped open all of my windows. The next day I was told that one of the people in that crew had called in sick. I asked the scheduler to let me know if anyone got a positive covid test, and I never received a response. Since I was going to a party for a very pregnant woman that weekend (and am immunocompromised myself), I paid for both rapid and PCR testing to make sure I was in the clear, which I was. Bottom line is that businesses need to communicate with their customers in this environment. read more

HCA installed our Mitsubishi heat pump. It broke within the first five years. We called them to repair during the coldest part of the winter; no heat. It took them three visits and they did not fix the unit. On two of those visits they no showed and I had to call multiple hours into the scheduled appointment time to be told that the parts were not in and had to reschedule. We paid $1000 in repairs and still no heat. read more

We recently bought a heat pump through Home Comfort Alliance. The purchase process was great. The sales rep was knowledgeable and gave us a very detailed, clear, and fair estimate. The installation crew (Sam & Tony) are fantastic to work with. They are knowledgeable, communicate well, and have been wonderful to deal with. The one reason why I'm not going 5 stars is that it's taking them 3 visits to finish the heat pump installation because of a missing part. Full disclosure, our system is a new system they have never installed before and is quite complicated. So, they are learning on us, and they are very up front about it. That said, it would have been great to have it installed with one visit. I also got great help from Shasta in their office! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a heat pump, and I would gladly go to them again! read more

Looked like a good deal at Costco, but not the case. First of all, the salesman who came to my home didn't bother to write down on the work order where the AC unit needed to be placed. The workman told me that is typical of him. I had to move very heavy piles of paving stones that were stored there. (I'm a senior citizen, 73 and 5'3")Then he decided that the unit couldn't go there after all. It needed to be on the opposite side of the house where a huge hydrangea was happily growing. It was very heavy and difficult to move by myself. Now, it's 5 months later and I received a notice from PSE that my heating bill has a doubled since last year at the same time! I had been having problems with my heat since the AC unit install. I typically keep my heat at 65 degrees and lower at night. I called MM and was told it would be $100 just to show up although I knew it was their issue since my heat had been fine before. I ended up calling the company that had installed my heat pumps. He checked all the vents and took temperatures around the house. It was 11 degrees warmer upstairs and cold downstairs. The heat blasts out of the vents in some rooms and there is no air flow at others. We went into the crawl space to look around. It was warm there too. He pointed out many dented ducts, sagging ducts, holes. We could feel the heat coming out of the ducts. I don't recommend MM even with the rebate they give. It's not worth the poor workmanship. I tried calling and texting the salesman during the installation about the problems he caused by not noting on the work order where the unit should be placed. He never responded. Now I will need to have someone correct the problems unless MM replies and fixes their mistakes and damage. read more

When our furnace's blower motor broke during the week of Thanksgiving, it filled our house with the most horrible smell--like burnt crayons mixed with cumin (don't ask me why that combo; that's just what my nose kept telling me)! Because my husband and I are Costco members, we contacted Costco first about having our furnace replaced. They referred us to MM Comfort Systems. We contacted MM on a Monday and talked to Vince. By Friday, their installers Adam and Juan came to replace our furnace. Now that's service! By the way, we would have hired them earlier but were waiting for an estimate from another company on Wednesday. The second estimate was good, but not as good as MM's, especially with our Costco discount. Adam and Juan were friendly, professional, and efficient, and within about three hours, our old furnace was gone and our new Lennox furnace was in place. Did not expect to have such a poor AC service from MM Comfort with a $20k+ purchase through Costco. The initial consultation was easy and quick - confirmed that the installation would be very standard & easy. Super disappointed later - 1) The installers only worked 3 hours on the 1st day and then did not show up at all on the 2nd day, leaving a big hole on the wall outside during rainy days. The coordinator would only send someone two weeks later. 2) The installation did not pass city inspection and we have to follow up with MM Comfort several times and only got someone to check the issue ten days later. 3) 1 month after the installation, one unit is already leaking water into the wall. Couldn't believe a professional can make such a mistake. read more

Bob was wonderful and walked through my crawl space to put together an accurate quote and gave some good advice on things to do to keep our home energy efficient. Chris and Andrew installed our new furnace and AC in two days, and figured out ways to make the vents and piping look better than originally planned. Sherry, Shirley, Jenah, Hannah were so great at following up, making sure we were ready and then satisfied with the installation and I had the proper rebate invoices. All in all we're very happy with MM Comfort Systems and they were a wonderful choice for our home investment! We live in Kirkland and went through Costco for the shop card benefit too. They are a great choice for your HVAC needs. I had four people come in for quotes. MM Comfort Systems had the most thorough and detailed quote, and competitive prices when accounting for the Costco Shop Card. Their services were really well run and I recommend them. read more

I will preface this by saying I reach out to Home Care Alliance on how they could make it right. I told them the only way to make it right was to refund me completely. Since writing this review they HAVE refunded all of my money. I recently called Home Care Alliance (who use to be MM Comfort Systems) and was very disappointed in the Service. Prior to Home Care Alliance, MM Comfort Systems (who I have used in the past) was a very Customer Service orientated company. I did not find that to be the case with Home Care Alliance. It was all about how much they could charge and continue to charge. The office was not friendly nor timely in responding. First Visit = $220: I originally called and the sent a nice young man who enjoyed what he did seemed to know what he was doing. He thought the issue was a Pressure Valve which he helped me find an OEM Pressure Valve on-line. I installed the part but turned out not to be the issue... So, I called back... Second visit = $220: The second Tech could not identify the issue but guessed that it might be the Circuit Board. I asked him how long to get and how much to replace and he said probably a couple of days and somewhere around $500 but the Office would need to confirm. I also told him that since he was not 100% on the diagnosis could he please confirm with a Supervisor. When I called the two days later to see where the quote was, an Office person said she was sending over. I asked whether or not a Field Supervisor had confirmed the issue, but she had no idea what i was talking about. The quote I received was +$900 (not $500) for a part that was over a week out. So, I was going to be without heat now for two and a half weeks. I called the Office individual and said why did it become $900 for an OEM part that only costs $180 on-line and takes 1 hour to replace? She said she could not get parts for retail prices nor as fast as I could.... Eventually a very nice and knowledgeable Feild Supervisor called, and we discussed why after already spending $440 for two rather questionable diagnosis would I spend another $900 with Home Confort Alliance for a 13-year furnace I can replace for $5000 and was he sure it was the Circuit Board?? He said most like the circuit board or wiring issue. I asked if he could come and diagnosis himself and could he please investigate why the cost was so high... He did call me back but could not be out to investigate anytime soon but did determine they could reduce the cost and replace the part for $600... So once again I asked why i would spend over $1000 for a13 year old furnace with an average lifespan of 15 years that I could replace for $5000 and instead of getting 2 years I would get 15 years. Needless to say, I am going to: 1) Replace the furnace 2) NOT use Home Comfort Alliance 3) Use a small Family-Owned company that has been around for 50 years with reasonable prices and great customer Service. Summary: Do NOT call Home Comfort Alliance where corporate greed exceeds customer service. read more

After a couple of months installed, one of the AC unit is leaking water from inside. We had to stop using that unit and put a bucket underneath so it won't soak our carpet. I've noticed that they installed the drain line with a sag (picture attached) that prevents water from going down the drain. MM Comfort Systems proposed installing a pump as a workaround. I rejected and requested a clean solution. I am asking them to re-do the piping installation. I never imagined having so much trouble with a company. Definitely don't recommend using MM Comfort Systems and Costco for AC. read more

I selected Home Comfort Alliance for a a/c mini split through Costco thinking the service would be up to Costco standards. I am giving them a bad review based on the following: When first installed the techs said a plug was missing and would not pass code so they would order it and install it and then we could pass code. It took months before the plug was received because they had forgotten about it. They apologized. It was the middle of winter so I didn't miss using the units but there was no follow up from them. The units (2) were installed incorrectly - one would freeze up and drip water and the other would run the fan with no cooling if they were not both on at the same time. When the tech came to install the "missing" plug I told him about this - he tested them and said everything was ok. They did not work ok. When he came back (after yet another call to fix it) he told me that the wires had been crossed on installation and after fixing this they did work well. His comment was "I always tell the installers to put an ID tag on the wires - they mess this up all the time". The installers marred the surface of both units and told me they would order replacements. I called so many times to check on this and was always told they dropped the ball or they forgot or the factory sent the wrong parts. This went on for over a year. Endless excuses but no action. I was so frustrated with their horrible service that I gave up finally. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for quality service. read more

This company has done a lot of work in my neighborhood, so they were my "go-to" people to call for a new A/C install. But alas, I can't reach a human, and no human will call me back. Quoted for $36K for multi-zone 4-ton system. Paid in full. Very poorly installed and was left with a broken and leaking AC, broken zones, and broken controllers. 2 years of "repairs" resulted in only 2 of the issues resolved with addition $2k in service fee. I am moving on and paying out of pocket for people who know how to install ACs to actually repair it. read more

MM Comfort Systems (MMCS) is who I was referred to by COSTCO for my AC install. We are a big COSTCO fan and rarely have had issues with anything that we get from COSTCO. This is one of those exceptions, not too bad but not great either. Tristan from MMCS promptly came after scheduling the visit from COSTCO, performed a survey and presented with three options for installing AC. We asked for a two stage AC and were told that the model on Lennox Elite series was on short supply potentially due to pandemic and not readily available. We waited a few months and reached out to MMCS again and they informed us that 2 Stage AC has been discontinued. So we selected one of the single stage AC units and scheduled the install. The quoted price included adding electrical circuit and 100+ft of electrical run for the outside unit. Which we were told was significant amount of work (and cost) as it involved running power from one corner of the house to the other where the exterior unit was supposed to be placed. [OK] Our install was scheduled for a Monday - Tuesday, and it actually started on Friday. Electrical drop was left fo last so it got pushed to following Monday as it was getting late. [Good] Mikel & Ina who performed the install were great. Explained everything in detail. Actually the entire install team was really nice to work with. [Not Great] On the following Monday the electrical team arrived for the work and they informed me that we already have an electrical circuit from an old furnace and they don't have to run the 100+ ft cable nor they need to add a circuit. So we ended up using existing electrical drop. The guys told us that in order to get the credit for this component we should get in touch with MMCS. [??] The following day inspectors from city came to check the install. We failed the initial inspection because a lot of water was found leaking from the unit. Following day MMCS guys came did some caulking amongst other things but were not able to definitively find the fault. Inspectors came again the following day and passed the install. I hope we don't get the leak again once summer really arrives in Seattle. This was all about a month back... Since then [BAD] I have been trying to reach MMCS to see if there would be any credits for what we were told was an expensive component of the install (running electrical drop over 100+ ft). After a lot of messages and mails I was able to get a call back and was told that I would get $375 back out of $10.5K of the install. Which I though was too little but still agreed to.. That's again more than 2-3 weeks back. I am not even getting replies for my messages. I'll conclude by saying that initial service seems good, after service I hope is good but based on my experience I think it's going to be not so great of an experience.
