If I could leave zero stars I would. If you are considering using this agency, please contact me…read morefirst and I will give you four years of horror stories, the last being: On Friday, Cindy from Ideal called me to state that she was sending a new aide to relieve the aide that had already been working 10 days straight 24/7. I stressed with Cindy the fact that the new aide be made aware of my father's condition since he is bed ridden with a catheter and is on hospice, and also the fact that I was working around the clock and would not be around to meet or instruct this new aide. Cindy assured me that the aide was instructed on all aspects of my father's care. She even went on to tell me that the aide had been in their employ for many years and was well trained. Then on Saturday when their new aide arrived, Margaret Clark at 8:30 am, she was annoyed because she found that my father was confined to a hospital bed and was not mobile. She claims she was informed by the office staff at Ideal that he. needed minimal assistance getting to the bathroom. She told all this and showed her disgust to the aide that was leaving his shift; he knew Ms Clark was not happy. Then 15 minutes later Ms Clark left too! She closed the door and walked out... Leaving my father unattended! She proceeded then to wait on my driveway and call an Uber. Amanda from Ideal Home Care did not call me until 10:06 AM to let me know that the aide on the case left my father alone. THAT IS ABANDONMENT!!! I was 5 1/2 hours away from my home and could not get there right away. Amanda from Ideal Home Care stated she was having problems finding a replacement aide; that in fact she called over 21 aides and couldn't find a replacement. I told her, "that's NOT my problem! Get the owner of your company, Nicole to my home to care for my father". Amanda said Nicole was out in field signing up new customers. I went crazy when I heard that comment... "You're worried about signing up new customers and you can't even take care of your existing ones." Ideal home Care did not send a replacement aide until 2:50 PM, which means my father was alone almost 6 hours, and that aide left at 10 PM. That meant my father was left alone again from 10 PM at night until the following day at 9 AM. My father is entitled to 24/7 care, seven days a week. By the time I reached my father's bedside, his urine was purple. My father then passed away on Wednesday morning. So if you are thinking of using Ideal Home Care for your loved ones, think again! Not only are they not trained properly or follow laws regarding abandonment, they are filthy! The aides do not clean anything, not even light housekeeping or even clean after themselves. I had a brand new apartment made and it now has mold and mildew all over. I even found a Subway sandwich wrapper stuck in a chair. I have pictures of how disgusting they left it. And now I could even tell you about the aide, Natasha that I found hitting my dad in the head with the showerhead, while cursing at him. I have stories and complaints that go on forever

Errands were shot without the ability to drive. The floors, oh my gawd, the floors needed some love.) The person Jennifer, the owner, sent over delivered above and beyond anything I imagined. It actually pained me to say farewell to Louise. I found them by searching for "elder care" "help" in the Suffolk County, Long Island area. My late night call was returned promptly, with a (free) assessment meeting scheduled that very week. Having had experience with terrible home health aides I honestly didn't think I'd get much out of this service. But when you need help options seem limited. So here's the thing. Louise showed up the first day and didn't stop moving until she left three hours later. I had booked the minimum weekly time (3hrs 2x/week) for budget reasons. I figured we'd start to chip away at the massive to-do list. Nope. We finished my list in short order and tackled a host of other challenges. Everything and anything you'd like to do with an extra set of hands. Home Health Companions are typically something you'd book for older folks. They are a wonderful resource to keep an eye out on the elderly or infirm. (Note: They do not do heavy lifting like showering someone. They will be available to assist.) My parents eagerly looked forward to the smile Louise would bring, as well as her witty and very funny insight. If you're on the lookout for a trustworthy organization this is the one. Items will not go missing with Family First. As an example, we had been discussing my new favorite spray deodorant. As I was at the end of a bottle I offered it to Louise. Her expression was priceless. "Goodness, no! We never take any items from a client." (It never occurred to me how someone with dementia might start to give away important possessions.) I could go on and on and on about this organization. Big thumbs up!

After 4+ years of making it work, my mother became sick to the point that she needed more care and supervision than I was able to provide due to my work responsibilities. A friend recommended Kelly from Helping Hearts and she was wonderful. She came to my office for a meeting to explain all of my options for care, was immediately available by phone whenever I had a question about the program. Kelly constantly took care to make sure the aid watching my mother was the right fit for her. She accompanied the aid on the first day to supervise everything to make sure it was to mine and my mother's satisfaction. Very professional, courteous, kind, and understanding.

We contacted Home Care Assistance who came and met with us to assess the level of care required and to find a caregiver with the required skill set to appropriately take care of my mother. They found 2 caregivers within a day and reviewed their qualifications and experience with us. We requested an interview with one of the caregivers which was immediately set up. After selecting the caregiver, our Client Manager accompanied her on the first day and stayed a while to ensure a smooth transition. Our Client Manager keeps in contact with us regularly to make sure things are going well and if there is anything additional she and the team can do to assist. It's hard enough deciding it's time to get a loved one some help, so choosing a home care provider is a very important decision. We are very happy with the care and interest Home Care Assistance staff and personnel have supplied with the care of my mother. In a fast moving world with numerous responsibilities to attend to daily, it's very comforting to know that there is someone there taking good care of my mother and to ensure she has everything she needs. In addition to finding qualified help, it was very reassuring to discover the honesty of our caregiver as well. With my mother's dementia and confusion that comes with it, she paid her caregiver $50 cash her first day. The caregiver brought it to my attention and handed me the money. I was so grateful for her honesty as many people these days could have easily kept it.

Following our dad's death, my siblings and I placed my mom (who has moderate-stage Alzheimer's)here for temporary respite care while her house was being sold...with the plan of having her move to my home out-of-state. When the end of the respite care was near, our mom expressed how happy she was there and expressed her desire to stay as a resident. We were hesitant at first, but thought we would give it at least a few months to be sure she enjoyed it. Does she ever! Almost 6 months later, we have never seen her happier. She is in a unit with other residents who have similar difficulties (the "Transitions" unit) where she receives the assistance she needs, great socialization and numerous activities. She has even gone to several "field trips" to outside restaurants. The facility brings in wonderful outside entertainment for their residents, and organizes activities for the residents and their families. The shared areas and individual rooms are kept impeccably clean! I would encourage anyone seeking an assisted living setting for themselves or a loved one to make an appointment to visit. After seeking a placement for several weeks, I found that there was no comparison between this facility and others. There are several different units of care aimed at the level of residents' needs. In addition, I found the pricing to be slightly less than several others in the area.

I signed a contract to a different location in Nassau County prior to him visiting what would have been his new home and community. Needless to say, my father father was miserable in the place I signed him up for. He stated that no one showed up for the scheduled activities and it lacked social interaction with his new peers. My father and I were still grieving the loss of my sister, he had been through so much in a short period of time, including the fact that he moved away from his friends and home in Florida by moving to New York. It was crucial that we found the place my dad could happily call home. I researched many communities, however, this time I had the benefit of bringing my dad on the tours so that he could decide for himself where he wished to settle in. The Arbors was his pick! Lisa gave us the tour and my father was warmly greeted by the staff as well as the fellow residents. The Arbors offers a plethora of activities everyday and my father is hardly in his room. It's a warm and friendly environment. The staff is attentive and my mind is at ease since I know that my father's medical needs are addressed. My father has been residing in The Arbors since 2023 and continues to tell family and friends that he is "living his best life" and has absolutely "no complaints". He has a beautiful apartment, which is cleaned everyday by the staff...it's as if he's living on a cruise ship, except it's on land! Big Thanks to The Staff and Residents at The Arbors, you've made my father and I so happy :)
