    Malasada

Anytime I go to Maui this is a must! The breakfast sandwiches are simple and delicious, the loco moco is so good with the egg cooked perfectly every time and of course the malasadas are not to be missed! Whether you decide to get them plain or cream filled they are always delicious!

We come all the way from Seattle for their malasadas! Make sure and get the cream! Their breakfasts are great too. I love their Portuguese sausage. When I order my eggs I like them scrambled soft and they're one of the few restaurants who cooked them correctly.

We arrived in Maui early and were starving and my friend found this place. I don't understand why anyone would want to eat here. The service is nothing special and the place was not very clean and since the door was left wide open, flies were everywhere. We ordered the french toast which was so dry and there was no flavor. The butter and syrup did not help so we didn't bother finishing it. The Loco Moco was bland and even with salt it was just okay. We kept having to swat the flies from getting in our food. The coffee was decent which is why I am giving it 2 stars.

The family at Home Maid Cafe is just great! The breakfast sandwich and BLT never disappoint. Their sugar malasadas are hot and delicious! Thank you for being my favorite comfort breakfast;) I take mine to go so I can enjoy it in my garden

Came in for some malasadas, but they were iut if the cream filled ones. Service was quick and the malasadas were made fresh to order. I believe she was the owner and the place was definitely a small hole in the wall with quick comfort food.

One egg and hash. No meat.

Not a very good place to eat, grumpy lady does not want to serve clients nicely or patiently.

BUT, seafood here is over the top, my wife had a white fish like ONO, but too long a name to spell. Walked in before 5:00pm with no reservation for a party of four. Well, that was a mistake. Despite idle wait staff and maybe only five occupied tables out of 20-30 total they made us wait for about a half hour. The reason was other people made reservations and were expected. When they finally sat our party the restaurant was still 2/3 empty. There was really no reason to keep us waiting that i could see. When you see someone in the party is disabled and using assistive devices you should be more accommodating. It kind of felt like we were being punished for not having a reservation. Also, expect a 3% service charge for the back of the house. Really, for the prices they charge for mahi fragments you could pay those people without a surcharge. Portions here are tiny. My mahi fragments were dry, over spiced and served with two unseasoned baby bok choi leaves and a slice of grilled tomato. For the price of almost $40.00. The beer was good and so was our server so they got one star for that. Otherwise, this place is touristy, overpriced and the maitre d' is slow on the uptake. Overall, there are plenty of great restaurants on Maui, recommend you try one of those.

But the vibe is beachy and laid back with surf board tables and smiling helpful staff. It was about 25-30 minutes from when we joined the line until we got our food. My husband loves the fish tacos! As a vegetarian, he convinced me to try the tofu veggie tacos when they explained all the toppings were the same as the fish tacos minus the fish. We also got fries and a side green salad with pineapple mango vinegarette (yum!). Other vegetarian options include onion rings, taco bowl, taco mountain, impossible burger, coleslaw, mac salad, rice. I wasn't sure what to expect with these Hawaiian tacos (I've had some bad tofu tacos elsewhere) but these were amazing!! I tried to take notes to see if I could recreate these at home! My guesses: The tofu is fried and maybe in a chipotle sauce. With tomato onion jalapeño cilantro lime salsa, topped with the cabbage slaw (coconut milk, mayo, sugar, lemon, ginger), diced tomato and then with a mango salsa that has cilantro/lime, cheese in a white corn tortilla. Just delicious! My husband's fish tacos looked exactly the safe except had fish instead of tofu. The order comes as two tacos. Looking forward to returning! It's in a plaza so plenty of parking. Also family friendly. There was also outdoor seating (did not take a photo of it).
