Outside tables were dirty. Outside area is filthy in general. Videos being shown were inappropriate for children. Entertainment choices more for the two guys working than the guests. Although we were asked how we wanted our burgers, they all came to the table extra well done. Need to have an actual cook at the grill. Food was OK otherwise. Served without napkins or utensils. Peggy Sue's used to be so much better, but no one seems to care anymore. This was our last visit until things here are significantly improved. read more

I've been here one other time and it was okay but since a few people I know told me to give them another chance, I did.. I got the BLT which was okay and a caesar salad which I was upset about. I paid $10 for lettuce, Costco croutons, Parmesan and some dressing. Hubbs was craving an ice cream and googled what was available in Kihei and found out Peggy Sue's stocks Roselani ice cream, his fave, so we had to give it a try. Easy free parking right outside the door, a few outdoor tables and then you open the door to reveal a 50s diner in blue and pink with counter stools and booths, great vibe! The ice cream selection was delicious and I ordered my usual mini Haupia with hot chocolate fudge, while hubby went for a sugar cone with orange/pineapple. It was a little hot in the restaurant but we were eating cool ice cream so not a problem. Their menu has a 50s diner feel too with burgers n fries, milk shakes and chicken wings and the usual fare. Peggy Sue's is a very nostalgic place to me. I remember coming here for the first time as a teenager. My go-to would always be their milkshake and a plain cheeseburger. Nowadays, I'm opting for their Great Balls of Fire burger that is juicy, full of flavor, and is a great balance of fresh ingredients with a grassfed burger. The service is always great at Peggy Sue's! Everyone is so welcoming and happy to be there. I don't know why this diner is rated low. It's nostalgic and what we ordered was flavorful. We ordered a garden salad with Blackened Mahi Mahi and a grilled cheese with sweet potato fries. Basic diner food so no surprises there but everything was spot on. Grilled cheese and fries came temperature appropriate, it was not greasy at all. This burger exceeded my expectations! I only came here because it was right next door to Coconut's Fish Cafe. I saw on the window that their beef is from Maui Cattle Company. I looked up that company and was pleased to find out that is was 100% grass fed and finished as well as pasture raised. That was enough to sell me, and man was it absolutely delicious. I got the one with mushrooms and the beef was shockingly flavorful. It didn't taste like just any burger, you could taste the high quality beef. We will definitely be back soon! My Tuesdays are usually reserved for shopping adventures & of course food. Except this was an unexpected treat getting to stumble across Peggy Sue's Maui a restaurant I surprisingly haven't tried yet. However the ladies in my Ross Tuesday crew mentioned they've dined here before & stuck to ordering their favorites. I on the other hand was intrigued at the opportunity to experience this classic 50's style diner. From the moment I walked in I was practically drooling over all the ice cream flavors visible from the entrance. Plus once we found a booth to sit at I was still trying to check out all the art decor throughout the restaurant. It definitely has an old school cute vibe. I was definitely happy our server was super nice, accommodating & brought everything out in a timely manner. I did find a few items that I'd be interested in trying but ended up settling for one of my absolute favorite things to order, a Caesar salad with added avocado. Which was delicious, I enjoyed the even amount of ingredients so each bite had a little bit of everything. If I wasn't so full I might have attempted to lick the bowl clean. Ooooo Peggy Sue's has been around forever. So glad we went here. We walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly gal. She asked if we knew what we wanted and I said no she gave us a menu. Looked over it for a few minutes and knew what we wanted a bacon cheeseburger with avacado. Yum. My favorite anything and everything with avacados makes it better. We talked to people we knew but we also did social distancing. Perfect for me. They have every other table taped off and no seating at the counter. Our order was cooked fast. Wow, what a cute ice cream parlor. Complete with jukebox, neon, framed photos of movie, stars, and very good ice cream and prompt service. A dad and his little daughter were seated at the counter and happily having milkshakes and burgers. I had a hot fudge sundae with two scoops and the personable and attentive server named Luis, made sure I had ice water. Beforehand he offered tiny tastes of every flavor of ice cream as the choices are plentiful. They also have lo Cal flavors. Here is truly a great little fun spot in Kihei... ideal for your gang to celebrate while they salivated over Kona ice cream! It definitely doesn't feel like the "Hawaii" experience since it's a 50's diner theme, but Peggy Sue's serves up a mean burger. Mushroom burger- very filling, but the fries were underwhelming Buffalo chicken wings- not very good, didn't like the texture and it was too saucy Shirley temple- tried to be cute and got this, it was not good lol There's indoor and outdoor seating, and the service was very nice. Sadly... this is where we got the only one food item that was enjoyed by anyone in our party. I don't know what it is about food on Maui! We tried the 4-5 star places. So, we thought, let's go to a regular diner. Cant go wrong w chicken strips and fries, and we were right lol. The burger was not good at all. I was starving but i couldn't finish it. I can't believe I haven't been here before. I have really been missing out! This place is located at the Azeka Marketplace in Kihei. It has both indoor and outdoor seating (during Covid). When you walk inside the decor is 50's but it also kinda reminded me of the Peach Pit from 90210. The kitchen is in the front of the restaurant so you can watch them cook your food. The service here is amazing! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The menu includes appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, entrees, salads, shakes, malts, floats, and various other drinks. We ordered burgers and they were some of the best we've ever had! They are big and tasty. The patties are juicy and the buns are soft brioche rolls. The burgers come with fries which were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The milkshakes are huge and made with Roselani ice cream. They are served the old fashioned way with extra shake in the mixing cup. The rootbeer float was creamy and went perfectly with the burger and fries.
