The contractor for my kitchen cabinet refacing project recommended Home Pavers (owner Palmer Iriarte). The job was paver landscaping from my condo front gate to my large front door step. We came up with a curved paver design with artificial turf alongside on about 40% of the area. Palmer helped me with all phases from start to finish. His crew was headed by an exceptionally talented foreman Lizandro. Palmer, worried that rain water might pool, suggested we re-route the water, beneath the turf, to run into the bushes located outside my courtyard. When a corner paver on my step did not fit Palmer's crew quickly returned to cut a new cornerstones. Before,,during and after Palmer made time to stop by and confirm plans, progress and post job satisfaction. Did I mention that the price was very reasonable. Home pavers put in a paver patio, fire pit, and fence for me a bit over a year ago. A plank in the fence has already fallen out and there are nails sticking out of other planks. I've called them and left 3 messages over the last 2 weeks. They were never returned. I called again, and the mailbox is full, so I couldn't leave a message. I hate leaving bad reviews on yelp, but I contacted the company to stand behind their work, and they chose to ignore my messages. I'll add, that I assumed the fire pit would be custom built, it was just a prefabricated one that was already rusty inside. If Palmer decides to fix all of this, I will take down the review. The real test of this kind of work is what it looks like a few years later. Our installation was in November 2016, and of course it looked great when it was freshly installed. Here we are a little over two years later and we're seeing shifting pavers, growing gaps, and the sand dropping out between them. We were told that they spent more time than other companies on prep, dug deeper, and packed it harder. I understand that some shifting might be normal, but 1/4"-1/2" gaps between pavers is not. We did have them out about a year ago and they simply put more sand between the pavers. Clearly not a permanent fix. Definitely disappointing for the money we spent. read more

This is an overdue review, although well deserved! We got our front outdoor area paved using this company and were very pleased. The project was challenging due to needing to remove a tree, a tilted outdoor areaof dirt, and other challenges. We hired them to come do our backyard. They did the pavers for us. we dealt with a pretty rude project manager named Jeanne E. she was kind of short with us during the process but we looked past it since the reviews on the company seemed good overall. Once the results were done the back yard looked great. the team did a pretty good job. However not even 8 months later we had some shifting of bricks which formed a crack. they need to be refilled and leveled. so naturally we called the project manager back up... she no longer works for homepavers. thats a good thing. however she basically yelled at my wife over the phone to the point where she was in tears. all we were looking for is resolution. Jeanne thought that was an opportunity to tell us to go "suck it." no joke... I called Home Pavers (Palmer) after moving into my newly built home in Pittsburg, as the backyard was just dirt and needed some work. Palmer was very accommodating and quick to come out for a walkthrough and quote (even in the rain!). We went in to contract, which he clearly had outlined, explained very well and a start date was set. After trying to reach out to many other local concrete and brick companies in the area, my wife and I finally landed on Home Pavers. Palmer and Fernando were really responsive, and gave us an estimate within a few days. They completely transformed our small backyard in Oakland, and were very communicative and helpful the whole way. We had some issues with sealing our pavers after the work was completed, but Palmer was really good about making sure we were satisfied with the finished product. We hired Home Pavers late last year to redo the paving in our back yard. Jeanne E seemed to know what she was talking about but got her calculations wrong twice before finally giving us an accurate quote. We should have run then, but what did we know. The team showed up and worked really efficiently to get everything done. (In retrospect, they were rushing and didn't do things properly). It's been 7 months and there are gaps between the pavers and the ground is unlevel - it's starting to buckle a little. I emailed Jeanne to get this resolved and received no response (TWICE). When I finally called her, she spoke to me in a very condescending and berating manner and hung up twice. She essentially told me to take it up with Palmer. My husband and I have called numerous times, left voicemails and received no responses - so unprofessional. I have also not received any response to the emails I have sent. Their work apparently comes with a 27 year warranty. It's total BS and we will be reporting to the BBB. Steer well clear of these jokers. read more

Yes I was - after you called me and yelled at me, asking me what the F*** my problem was because I wouldn't allow you onto my property unless I was home, and after you insisted I did not need to be present for you to get it fixed. (This, after you telling me you would call to schedule - and then did not and just showed up when I wasnt home. Again - YOUR FAULT, not mine.) Like I was going to trust you to fix it correctly, after you lied and tried to tell me that weeds growing out of polymeric sand was normal - IT SUPPOSED TO SEAL. SEAL means water wont penetrate it...so how do the weeds grow? BECAUSE IT WASNT SEALED. I had to threaten you with a small claims action just to get you to agree to do the work, after you tried to get your salesman to tell me that I could FIX IT MYSELF. It STILL isnt correct, I have to wait until next year after the rains to hire someone to seal my pool edge. So you can blame me all you want. Truth is, your salesman left your company because he was so sick of the unhappy customers you kept leaving him with. Want to blame that on me too? read more

Home Paver did our yard remodeling two months ago. It was a big project. We replaced our concrete driveway, added sidewalk and entry way and also extended the background. Total square feet was around 2000. In addition, they also built retaining wall for our front yard. The workers were hardworking. They came everyday from 8 to 5 and working continuously and stop only during lunch break. I interview ten contractors before finally choose Solis and Pallmer. What I like about them is they are straight forward. They won't pressure you using sales tactic like a lot of big paver companies. They both were very involved through out the project and responsive and flexible to changes. I would definitely recommend them. read more

I met Palmer through Yelp after reading the 5 star reviews of his company. I also rated his company a 5 because he was open to listening to my ideas while I also learned about his expertise with paving. The job was to replace the old steps that were ecstatically not correct as well as being uncomfortable for elders. You had to step down as you walked out of the sliding door vs stepping out and onto the same level as inside and then step down. And the width of the steps were half the size of the sliding door so it looked incomplete or just not done well at all. Palmer worked with my ideas and applied his expertise. The results were great! Home Pavers is a company you would never want to do business with. Palmer loves to say "why are you being negative" when you lodge a question or bring up something about the job you are not happy with. He is very antagonistic. They left the job a mess: Concrete scatter about from the final lap of pavers they do around the perimeter. I had to ask them to come back to clean up the mess. Palmer didn't like that.. They left a muddy mess in the middle of the yard where they cut the pavers with the tile cutter. As a part of the job, they replaced a small area with new cement next to existing cement in order to ensure the water drained properly to the newly installed (incorrectly) drains. The cement cracked terribly and I asked Palmer to come back to inspect and fix. He came back telling me it wasn't a problem. I told him I completely disagreed and that brand new cement should not chip off and crack.. it was not draining properly due to the cracking and chipping. He said "why are you being so negative" (for the ump teenth time) He refused to fix the issue. When I asked him to ensure that it was fixed, he said someone would come look. They never did.. Recently I contacted him again to have someone come fix and he said he was under the weather and couldn't come out. I waited another two weeks and contacted Palmer and he never wrote back.. Additionally, some of my pavers were loose... The whole experience was a mess and Palmer is a horrible business man. Once he has the money in his pocket he does NOT stand behind his work. The crack is still leaking / draining water towards the basement rather than into the drains.. I would never recommend home pavers.. NEVER! It's been since May I have been trying to get them to come fix the cracking cement and noone comes back. read more

I just finished a job using Home Pavers, and am very pleased with the result To start I called around and contacted many contractors to ask for quotes, and found that most won't call back... not even to say they're too busy to do my job. I'm big on communication and it is annoying when you leave a message with a so called professional only to not receive a call back. It wastes a lot of time and speaks negatively about a company's integrity. When I called Home Pavers a return call was forth coming in a timely manner. I received a reasonable quote and a start date was established. I will say that in the first two weeks something occurred that caused communications to temporarily stop. When I mentioned my concern to Palmer he apologized and communications between him and I was very good there after. Palmer was easy to work with, took the time to listen about what my needs were, offered good design ideas, and seemed very professional. We were very happy with hardscape and landscape work of Young's Complete Landscaping (YCL) working in partnership with Solis Masonry and Home Pavers. We were looking for someone to do a complete front yard makeover, and I found the highly rated YCL on Yelp. I already had one bid when we called Bill Young to come take a look at our yard. After seeing the size of our yard and discussing the general idea of what we wanted done (new walkways, new patio, stone veneer on the house and replacing the lawn with draught tolerant landscaping), Bill gave us an estimated cost range that was about the same as the previous bid. Bill then introduced us to Fernando Solis (Solis Masonry) and Palmer from Home Pavers to discuss the hardscape. Fernando gave us a bid on the hardscape and we decided to move ahead. Bill never produced a detailed drawn plan. His approach is more interactive with the homeowner. We discussed ideas, types of plants. Once the site was cleared, he came with Fernando and Palmer to paint outline of where the walks, patio and stone walls would be. Fernando's contract stated that the hardscape work would be done in 4 weeks from the start. Once they got going, 2-4 people were here working everyday including several weekend days. He completed the work in 3 weeks and apologized that it took so long! When is the last time a contractor completed your job in less time than originally estimated? We are really pleased with the attention to detail and final results. Both Fernando and Palmer very responsive; they kept us informed on every step and responded to every phone call promptly. Then we got serious about the details of the landscaping part of the project. Bill took us to see several of his completed jobs to get more ideas and see the quality of his work. After I knew exactly what I was spending on the hardscape, I gave Bill an upper limit (top of his original estimate) and he stuck to it. His crew was also on the site virtually every day once they got started and they also finished a week ahead of schedule. Bill was in contact with us at least every 2-3 days during the hardscape part and everyday while his crew completed the landscaping.
