    Pitiful fish tacos
    Christopher G.

Decided to give them another try since i saw notices that they added Fish Fridays (Lent) and fresh pasta options. Wife and i went and she ordered "fish & chips" and I ordered the fish tacos. My order came out and was a frozen fish patty cut in thirds and thrown in taco shells that they did not even fill half of. Wife's fish & chips were literally two dry, flavorless fish filets and flavorless potato chips. Somehow this place is owned by an Irish named pub and doesn't understand that the chips in fish & chips are fries. Will not be a third visit. Save yourself $30 and go buy a box of fish sticks and stay home.

We finally tried this place. I had been looking forward to for quite awhile. We got the Big Poppa and onion rings. We debated the gigi and the OG as well which both sounded good. The pizza was good. I would've liked a little more sauce and next time I would probably ask for it. They gave a military discount, which I don't expect but always appreciate. The workers were nice. It closed at 8 rather than 9 but with COVID ongoing it is always better to call places now. It was clean and has outdoor seating. Walden seems like a nice little neighborhood and there was live music that sounded good at the coffee shop nearby.

The pizza place looks warm and cozy and the pizzas look inviting and delicious. However, the pizzas themselves are quite bland, unflavorful, and dry. We got the Wowie Mauie and the Big Poppa and they both needs more sauce. They are just dry. Considering their price tag, I expected a little bit more from them. I do want to support the local business but sadly i won't come back to this. There are other local pizza places with more reasonable price and better pies.

Loved Home Slice! There's street parking in the front and a big lot in the back. Inside is modern, clean and very welcoming. The aroma inside of fresh baked pizza was inviting. I walked in before the lunch crowd starting coming in. There were constant walk-ins. Most of them were for take-out, but enough people eating-in that all tables got full. This was on a Monday, a weekday. I got a slice of white pizza and my friend got a Gigi's. Both were excellent. The crust is crispy and perfect. All the ingredients tasted fresh and good quality. The staff was super nice. They didn't have printed menu to take out, but the girl at the counter said that full menu is available online.

Loved it!! The dough is hand made, and has a nice crispy crust. I love the sauce he uses and like that he put plenty of it on. Best part was the cheese though, super high quality obviously! The service is good, they've only been open a few weeks so it's definitely possible it could take some time if they get busy. The wings were excellent. Very crispy wings, just how I like em. The mango habanero sauce is awesome and Dawson told me he uses fresh ingredients to make that sauce. Also - it was nice to have a few options from Flinchys. The chili is out of this world. It's located right after you enter the main entrance for the Walden Shops. Really nicely designed, very nice bathrooms. Easy to find, plenty of parking and you can walk around to some shops before or after.

We've ordered from here two times. Both times were carryout. The restaraunt is small but very well done. Cool artwork and all cohesive with the home slice theme. Would be fun to eat at during a slower time but I imagine it gets full quickly. We've tried the OG cheese pizza and the Gigi grandma style pizza. One time we got the white pizza as well. The OG I would give a 4/5. The sauce is good, the flour that they use is high quality as well. The Gigi was a 4.5 and the favorite that we've tried. The crust isn't deep dish but is baked longer and is a little thicker than the OG. The white pizza we got was not very good - I don't like white pizza to begin with but the people at our party who tried it said it wasn't great so I'd say 2/5. We are always happy to support a local pizza shop and will be back to try some of the other offerings again. Next up on my list is the wings!

Everything we got here was perfect! I really loved the pizza and I'm very picky about pizza. Definitely will be my new go to spot. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back and try different food.

This is probably the reason most entertainers and people of fame who come from Harrisburg move away and don't say they are from there But anyway... Me, having Philly family and being a Philly fan of everything, especially those Eagles (don't stop reading because of that!), I had a chance to get a cheesesteak from South Philly Hoagie, and let me tell you, I was impressed. The bread makes everything, and then of course the meat. I ordered mine with mayonnaise, cheese whiz, and of course, mushrooms. Now, I did order it through the Uber Eats app, and I wish I could've added provolone, but I never had to add pizza sauce to my cheesesteak until today. I'm glad I did! It made it pop, even though it was missing that provolone. One thing I do wish is that they would actually take the bread and get some of that steak juice right on the bun. Other than that, I'm not mad at it. Of course, it's not Philly. It didn't bounce me right back to the hometown of Will Smith, and it didn't have me saying "I'M A WORK OF ART." However, I was pleased and satisfied. Maybe the flavoring can hold me over until my next pay next week so I can take a train down to Philly. The French fries were amazing, if I must say. The sub was plenty full and had plenty of meat on it. If you asked me, "Would I buy this again?" Yes, I definitely would! And I would do it over-the-counter so I can have it my way, like Burger King! Some were great, some good and others should have never been called cheese steak subs. We moved to PA a few years back and have explored our community for the best places to eat. It was one day about 3 months ago, my wife and me had a hankering for a really good cheese steak sub. We punched in the request in our GPS and several places displayed upon the screen. After a quick check on reviews of the various locations, we settled on South Philly Hogies. Although the trip was 18 minutes away at 23 miles, off we went to try this establishment. We both ordered the California Cheese Steak and fries. We drove home and I can tell you by far this was the best Cheese Steak we had ever eaten. The bread it is served on is so soft and fresh and they have no issues with making it your way. I would be remiss if I didn't make mention that the staff are always nice and friendly. The quality and quantity that you get with your order almost seems impossible these days. We were so pleased that every time a family visits us here in PA, South Philly Hogies will always get a stop from us. We enjoyed every bite and discovered that we like it so much that as soon as we receive our food, we travel to the shopping mall and eat on the lot. We never make it home now with our food. All you hear in the car is lips smacking and people saying "um, um , um" I must also report that they are truly wonderful with regard to prices. I have paid upwards of almost $30.00 for the food we ordered from other establishments and the food was not that great at all. Not wishing to see price increased at this location but I would gladly pay a little more because they are that good. Thank you guys for doing such a great job with your service and your food. We will see you again as you are now on our once every 2 week visit list. For ever! Mr. & Mrs. Green

I opened their website and ordered the pizzaboli online, to be picked up in about 25 mins. I received notification that the food was ready right as I was getting in my car to head over. I am a pizza snob and truthfully, boil isn't my favorite. This however made my whole night! The sauce, the meats, the never ending cheese? Perfection. Their description alone sold me: "Seeded Hudson roll, shaved ribeye, caramelized onions, and Cooper sharp cheese melted into a sauce. This right here is the main event." Say no more. Take my money and hand over the cheesesteak! At $16, I was optimistic but a little cautious. It arrived in a hefty white Styrofoam box that smelled incredible. The moment I opened the lid, I knew I had made the right decision--it was massive, drool-worthy, and everything I hoped it would be. One bite in and I was in food-vana. The meat-to-cheesy-sauce ratio was perfect, the roll was dense and chewy with just the right crisp on the outside, and it held everything together beautifully. No soggy mess, no flimsy bread--just pure cheesesteak glory. Honestly, it really did taste like a million bucks. We paired it with bacon cheese fries for the ultimate heart-stopping combo, and together it made the perfect carb-loaded, finger-licking, "oh my God this is good" kind of dinner. The total was $27.18 with tip--not cheap for cheesesteak and fries, but definitely not robbery given the quality and portions. Parking is plentiful since Amici's is in a strip mall, but we opted for takeout because the dinnertime rush was a little too chaotic. Either way, if I'm craving an amazing cheesesteak, Amici's is at the very top of my list.
