Still, though, the pizza from Home Slice is pretty good thin crust pizza, but, in my opinion, it's nothing unique. Of course, I think Gino's is the best ever, so my personal taste might not be the perfect metric for some people. The place itself is always a solid choice if you're downtown. This place is amazing! My friend and I met one of the managers out one night and since I'm new to the area, he was excited to recommended us to come here. We had some slices, chicken chunks, and mozzarella sticks. The place had a very fun family feel and the employees were all joking and chatting which I loved to see. The slice was great! Reminded me of some slices I had in NY at the million places there are to try and I love pizza. Win win. The mozzarella sticks were good, we waited too long to eat them the first time but I reheated with the air fryer and they were good! The best for me was the chicken chunks. We ordered the cheese bread, Italian salad, potato pizza, spinach & artichoke pizza, and buffalo chicken pizza. Pros: Cheese bread - great portion size and flavor. There were a quite a few pieces on the ends without any cheese though which was a bit disappointing. Salad - huge portion and very fresh Spinach and artichoke pizza - I love spinach and artichoke dip, so this was going to be a winner. Crust was also cooked how I like it. Not as great: Potato pizza - a bit underwhelming. Boyfriend described it as "whole pizza was not better than the sum of its parts" aka pizza and mashed potatoes are good separately but weren't that great together Buffalo chicken pizza - I could tell from looking at it that this was going to be a miss. The chicken pieces looked like they had just been defrosted and nuked in the microwave. Homeslice has had its ups and downs over the years. It's always been a chill, kinda funky small weird pizza joint, but in recent years it seems to have settled into itself and found its groove (though many still yearn for free bacon night). Still near paper thin but without the blitzkreig grease content, these days Homeslice is piling bright veggies and toppings on top of their signature crispy edged but playfully floppy thin crust and choosing not to bury the ingredients in cheese. It's a bold move but a totally right one. The pies are good, the other menu items are ok as well and the beer selection is pretty solid. Went to location after visiting The Toledo Zoo . Was told by one of the guest in our party that pizza was average ( because, I am not a fan of thin crust pizza). Bread was bland , wings had sauce on them; root beer float was a Styrofoam cup with ice cream in it and a 32 oz bottle of Barqs root beer. I am from Michigan where A&W root beer floats are made with A&W root beer ‍. The menu should state Barqs Root Beer Float. So that's where my disappointment started and it ended with the bread. I like the pizza here. It is thin crust and the toppings are good but it isn't what I would call NY style. Service down stairs has always been friendly. The price is just OK for what you get. They advertise an XXL pizza. Truly it is just a large pizza in my opinion it will feed 3 hungry ppl tops. There is nothing super sized about it. When something says XXL you expect to be wowed! My husband, girlfriend, and I smashed 2 XXL with no problem and we are average size ppl. I have been to the bar upstairs a handful of times. I don't care for the service and I think the drinks are over priced compared to other downtown bars with the same atmosphere. Friday night at 12:10 and I want Pizza. I arrived at Home Slice and place my order that I am told would be about 20 minutes. I proceed to the bar upstairs where 10 minutes and still a full glass of a lime margarita later my pizza to go arrived. On appearance its nice, hot and well done. I am home 10 mins later and...the sauce needs a tad of seasoning. A dash of seasoning salt does it. The crust is soft...even 15 minutes later when I am on my 4th piece of this 4 sliced personal pan. I have been here a couple of times already and I love it every time I come. I am a huge fan of pizza and I am a huge fan of thin crust pizza. This place does an amazing job. I have gotten just a basic pepperoni and cheese pizza and also their barbecue chicken pizza which both are absolutely amazing. I usually go on Tuesday nights because it's half off pizza, too good of a deal to pass up. I am also a huge craft beer fan and the upstairs bar does a good job of rotating their draft list. They also offer a decent amount of craft beer in their fridges. The kitchen staff greets you when you walk in the door and when you head upstairs to the bar, the bartender politely takes your order and does all the work by herself as the room isn't that big. Even when it's fully packed she does a great job. I love going to eat here. It's become one of my favorite pizza places. Would recommend to anyone who loves pizza and is looking for a quick place to eat before a Mudhens games. read more

I heard about this little gem on Yelp when searching for pizza places downtown. I'm a big fan of NY style pizza. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is pretty decent, there is a patio outback and an upstairs with a bar which feels better than the downstairs area. We always go during mid-day so it's not packed like it is after a Mud Hens game or so. The pizza is delicious, generous on toppings and it's a good crust. Not soggy and sloppy like a lot of fakes. I've been here multiple times and always have to go once in a while when I am downtown. Makes for a great little date as you can take a walk down by the river or downtown. To all you nay-sayers complaining about the thickness of the pizza or the price....you know what NY style pizza means, right? They offer pretty good drink specials and usually have some sort of offers during the weekdays. One of the best times to visit Home Slice is when the Mud Hens are in town because it is conveniently located across the street from Fifth Third Field.
