We had the large Donairs, we both had beef though I had mine home style, which is added grilled onions, mushrooms, and peppers. So freaking good. I come here a lot after school, and often bring my friends. I totally recommend the service is top tier!! once my friend came but didn't have enough money and the worker gave her a small portion of their poutine. Speaking of poutine, it's delicious!! beef or not, the portions are HUGE, tired the mozzarella sticks, 6 pieces for 6$ totally worth my money with the very flavorful sweet and sour sauce and they stretch beautifully. The service is warm and welcoming and PEAKK!! the atmosphere is pretty out dated but it gives the place a neat vintage look, the prices are kind of big BUT the quantity and quality is outstanding it's worth my wallet, and YES I'm speaking in my opinion so no hate plz. The only down sides are that they or low staff most of the time and their atmosphere could use some more decor. I've heard a lot about this place. People at work talk about it and shared how they made trips out of the way to pick donairs up to go. We stopped by on a Friday night around 11:30pm. One other group was dining in and only one group came through for take out. I would have expected more for a Friday night. They offer beef, chicken and mixed donairs. Additional toppings beyond lettuce, onion and tomato include canned mushrooms, pickles, green pepper, jalapeños, and banana peppers. It's nice to have options. We went with the regular beef donair combo which included a canned pop and fries. The fries were crinkle cut but really thin. They turned out to be a little over cooked so since they were thin they turn out very crispy. We had to ask for extra ketchup to make it through. The donair was fairly large for a regular. The meet was moist but not freshly cut. Likely that day but it came from a roaster which is not surprising 30 minutes before closing. We went with the classic three toppings and added mushrooms, pickles and green peppers. Everything was good except the onions which were too overpowering. Also, although I saw the server put on the sweet sauce on, I sure couldn't taste it. The place was clean and the staff attentive. The food was fine but forgettable. There's a better donairs within minutes of here. It's a nice enough place but it doesn't live up to the hype. Unlike the people at work, I won't be making a special trip back. read more

Mundane. Another "notch in my belt" on my mission to sample every donair E-town has to offer. Staff were...friendly enough I guess. Place was clean enough. WWE wrestling on TV... Ordered a regular donair. At ~$9...pretty standard. Portion size was reasonable. Meat was juicy and seasoned fairly well. Veggies seemed pretty fresh. Points lost for some of the worst "sweet sauce" that I've never tasted...and could barely tell was applied. I had a cup of garlic sauce on the side ($0.50 extra). Took a run out for some late night munchies & decided to give this place a shot I waited in the car while my husband picked up the food, so I can't comment on the interior or how the menu display is set up, BUT THE FOOD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF! We ordered a Jumbo Cheese Donair with fries & a can of pop for $15 and let me tell you, it was ! The meat is a bit spicy which works awesome with sweet/donair sauce AND THEY PUT REAL MOZZARELLA ON THE DONAIR!!! Instead of that weird cheese sauce so many Edmonton donair shops use. We were disappointed when we saw the fries were crinkle cut frozen fries, but they must fry them in some magic oil or something because honestly they're the best crinkle fries I've ever had. And the top it was a salt mixture, maybe seasoning salt? Anyways, they were perfect. This is definitely our new fav donair shop in town, even beating out KOD and Blowers & Grafton who boast "east coast style" donairs, which is really saying a lot! Definitely surpasses Swiss and Queen as well It looks like they might also serve burgers & subs, if anyone was wondering. Regular donair with cheese, sweet sauce, banana peppers, onions and tomatoes. That is what I always get from here and it is delicious. The sweet sauce is the best in the city in my opinion and I love how they chop up the meat into small pieces making it easier to eat. They always pack in the meat and pour on the sauce and they don't hold back on anything unless you tell them to. In the summer they stay open til 3am on the weekends and people coming home from a night out always stop here. Nothing compares to a donair after a night of drinking. They also have a great donair salad (which is just donair meat, sauce, and vegetables) for anyone that wants to be "healthy". It's pretty funny, the guys that work here are always trying to explain that donair's are healthy. They aren't healthy, but they are damn good. read more

Stale and funny tasting meat, skimpy and dry veggies. What a drastic difference from what it used to be. First, I will say, I am picky when it comes to my donairs.. My biggest pet peeves are over cooked meat, dried out wraps, a poor veggie collection and to small for the price... Well... I can tell you, these are NOT issues here! I have been going to Home Style for a number of years.. The staff are so courteous, typically they are extremely quick. The meat here is always well cooked, but never over cooked. The veggies are fresh, a good selection (not great, but has all the stuff our family likes). The donairs are substantial! Want a big donair? Order a Mac Attack.. Dear god, what a Donair! I swear, its the biggest Donair in the city, if there is one bigger, I want to know about it! I have always found the place clean, rarely are there dirty tables. They have a decent drink selection, and if you want some Donair Poutine, this is a good place! Super delicious donair! I love that their portions are out of this world huge, and their chicken is phenomenal! My only downside for these guys is that last time I was there the felafel were definitely pre packaged frozen ones, as I have cooked the exact same ones at home. A donair is by far the most horrible thing you can order. It's fat, it's greasy and it does horrible things to your body. But if you're going to do something wrong, do it right. Go to the professionals and don't bring a date! Don't bother with napkins, you'll look like a pig just for eating there. You'll be given a bag with a piece of bread wrapped loosely around a heap of deliciously spiced meat. Every bite requires you to plant your face into food for a taste and smother your mouth for a bite, it's just a step up from eating out of a trough. There is no way to take a bite and resist another. You will feel disgusting and dirty and you will thank them for it. It will be like finding a new kink in the bed that you would never tell your friends about. Great service, low/no wait time. Haven't been here for a while, but i passed buy it today and wanted to grab something to eat. I ordered a regular donair, usually i get a jumbo but wasnt hungry today. i like this place cause you can see and watch how they make it, i was there around noon, so i got my meat fresh, and they give a generous amount, and they are not stingy when you ask for extra toppings, i got extra jalapenos and onions, but only thing they charge extra for is cheese like every other place. When i ate the donair is was hot and fresh, it has that unique taste of the donair meet and the sweet sauce, very flavorful. This place is a bit far from home, but i know whenever its convenient and im hungry, definitely going to grab food from here. read more

This donair joint used to be the king of donairs in Edmonton... like 3 years ago. However since the owners have sold the place, the place has gone downhill. The building is still the same, same decor and everything, but what I think has changed is the quality of the donair meat used and the cooking process. Everytime I visit this place, it seems like the donair meat is never cooked properly so they have to bust out the sawed off frying pan and cook the meat on the flat grill. Which is okay, I guess, but nothing beats the donair meat cooked on those special rotating cookers. I do however like the fact that the give you a sample of the meat while you're waiting for your donair. It's a nice litte touch that they kept around from the old owners. All in all, this donair joint is alright, but there are better places around town. read more

I admit it I love donairs even though they are so bad calorie wise and nutrition wise but this place does a one up by giving them a grill before putting them together. The only issue I have is that we only buy one, they are far too big for one person, even with my incredible appetite. So unfortunately they only get one sale every time we drop by on our way home. Finally, when you get a chance to start stuffing this overstuffed pita in your pie hole it has got to be, by far, the tastiest donair I've had in a while. (All except "Mike's Sub & Donair" donairs which is why I can't quite give Home Style a five :) Thank goodness they're in my neighbourhood though so I can get my donair fix when I want. read more

I am from the opposite corner of the city and I was visiting a friend for a NFL draft and needed something to eat. I decided to try this place and was surprised how clean it was inside and the variety on the menu. I have never seen crinkle cut fries and donair meat mixed and served with gravy and cheese kurds, someone else was ordering this. I ordered a regular donair and liked that they had other veggies (green peppers, jalapenos, frank hot sauce) to put on it. Easily the best place to go, they make their food just right and what you'd expect when getting a donair. They don't overprice any of their items and they include a free drink so win-win.
