Their estimate was quite a bit lower than the actual cost, even though we packed everything and it was ready to load. The movers did not seem to be well trained. Some of them were clearly inexperienced. They were very inefficient with time (moving one single box by hand at a time, instead of loading a few more in a dolly). They did not lift boxes in such a way that would be safe for their own body, as well as our belongings (jumping down from the truck while carrying a big box). The movers arrived on time, were courteous and fair with their hours, but ultimately we feel that the business owners need to provide more training to their staff. If we were to move again, I would go with a different company that has a more solid record on efficiency and training. read more

Had a great experience moving with them a couple of weeks ago. Their estimate was very fair and the price came in a bit below the estimate. The team of movers we got were fantastic -- funny, helpful, upbeat, and really encouraging throughout, greatly reducing the stress of a move. We used Home Team Moving for a recent move and they were amazing. We've moved 4 times in the past 5 years, one of those being across the country, all with young kids. And Home Team Moving provided the best moving experience we've ever had by far. The estimate was done virtually over FaceTime. This was because of COVID of course but it made the estimate and scheduling process very convenient. On the day of the move the crew showed up exactly on time and made quick work of the move. They were fast, professional, and didn't cause any nicks or damage to either our old or new place during the move. Past moves: a missing Tang Dynasty Horse, a driver who got the street name right but the city wrong, a hung-over kid in need of sleep, an irritable guy who made "ok, lady, where do you want this?" sound like a prosecutor addressing an invisible jury of our peers. Which is to say our bar for our next moving co. was already pretty low. The job, however, was fairly complex, involving downsizing, upsizing, transferring, two states, and four pickups and drop offs. Bids came in, all about the same, except one which was over the top, maybe 50% over the top. This was Home Team. We told them as much. One of the owners, Ben, offered to come over and double check his estimate. "My partner likes to be conservative," he explained. His revised bid turned out to be lower than average. And after meeting him, and liking him, we went with Home Team. A very different moving experience. On time, polite, careful, no raised eyebrows or macho posturing, a problem with the truck getting stuck in mud which was addressed without veiled complaints about our location. And the final bill was the same as the estimate, nothing tacked on, despite a number of changes. At the end, when everything was accounted for, Ben and I chatted for a bit. Turned out we had lived on the same block and played in the same alley as kids. Needless to say, our bar for moving co.'s has since gone way up. read more

After a fun filled first half of 2011, I'm FINALLY back in the yelping saddle! And one of the things I was busy doing was moving. Again. For the third time in 2 years. To say I'm experienced with movers is an understatement. This time I'm sure I'll stay more than 6 months, but if I don't, I'll be giving these gentleman a call. They were recommended to me by a bartender friend. I was a little strapped for cash, so I cancelled my deposit at one of the big boys and took a chance on Home Team Moving. They were new and eager to please, and got me a price WAY lower than what I was quoted by the other mover. They showed up 10 minutes early, got a look at the place, and started working. They were so fast!!! They moved a 2 bedroom apartment across town quickly, in some brutal heat, upstairs, and were actually cheerful the entire time. All three of them. They took apart only the things they needed to, and didn't f*ck around trying to pad the bill. I haven't seen hustle like that since I was in little league. Now that I'm unpacked, I can report that this is officially the first move I've ever had where NOTHING was broken. The best part, though, was seeing the bill. This was the first time I ever hired movers as the expected costs always steered me away. I have moved many times and have been hearing frequently through co-workers and friends to hire a mover.. it's worth it! I made the decision to do so this time around, knowing it would be crazy expensive but feeling good about the decision to not ask my friends to help out, to coordinate and rent a truck, and to be sore for at least a week from climbing 3 flights of stairs while lifting heavy items. Now, about Home Team Moving. They arrived a few minute early; They were really fast, extremely nice and helpful. We were gone from my old place within an hour and on to my new location where they hiked all of my things up to the third floor and some down to the basement for storage. I hope every time that i move in the future it will be in the same general area as I would hire this team again in a second! The best part of the process? Home Team gave me the better quote out of the two companies i looked into. They actually finished sooner than expected and my final price was $100 less than originally quoted! These guys were professional on the phone prior to the move. The movers were nice and courteous, but they broke some things due to carelessness. I would not be writing a negative review if they had immediately replaced the broken item. Instead, they waited weeks and tried to find a different retailer to save themselves money (instead of thinking with customer first mentality). On top of that, the owner of the company stated that it broke because it's cheap furniture. Funny, it never had a scratch when I moved it myself on the same exact move last time. So, let it be known. If Home Team breaks your stuff, it's because it's cheap, not their fault at all! That's from the owner. Edit: In response to the comment below, the comment apologizes for the extra time it took - the time wasn't the issue despite me having to chase the problem on my end. The issue was diverting the cause of the problem and then trying to save ~$50 on shipping a replacement. If your company is more worried about saving $50 than fixing a problem quickly, it shows where values lie. That's the issue. Not how long it took. read more

We are happy and relieved to have made a successful choice with Home Team. They were first recommended to us by a friend. We had Ben come by the house and do an "in-home" estimate. He's very friendly and professional. We were moving our apartment in Cambridge and and our storage unit in Billerica and then moving into our new house in the suburbs south of the city. There were two crews, one for each starting point. Both were about 10 minutes late but called me (interestingly at the same time) to tell me they were slightly behind. It didn't matter though because when they arrived at the storage unit, they knew exactly what they were doing and hustled through it, wrapping everything that could possibly be damageable in blankets. Husband was in Cambridge meeting the other crew and he said they were moving so quickly-- he had gotten them coffee and donuts to start the day and later joked that he was "forcing" them to eat the donuts! :) They were incredibly patient with me when I was trying to close my account with the storage facility and the worker wasn't there. We all met up at again at the house, they pulled in right behind me and immediately started to unload. When they finished and left, it was maybe 10 minutes before the Cambridge crew arrived. Again, they moved quickly, doubling up on what they were carrying. They were also really friendly guys and helped us reassemble the beds in the house. They say that their final cost is within 25% of their estimate, however, the price we got was within $100. Moving is never cheap, but I like to know what to expect for cost. I was happy with the final bill. There was one bit of minor damage on a night stand that my husband noticed and they offered to repair it for us. They came and picked it up and about a week later, dropped it off looking good. I highly recommend these movers. We had called a few other movers in the area (Eagle Lines and Gentle Giant) that were suggested to us and are glad we made this choice. read more

Moving.. the bane of my existence.. seriously I've had to move more in my life than a person should. I've also done it on my own enough times to know that its worth every penny to have someone else do it for you. Now I drive by u-haulers and laugh like a child muttering "Fools! haha!" Anyways.. I used good old Yelperooni to find Home Team,They weren't the first to respond, or even the cheapest but right from the get go they displayed the professionalism I was looking for. My real need and challenge was, I had to move out of a storage unit before the 1st of June and we all know that's probably the second most busiest time of year for movers... (college move in's probably being the 1st in September) I had a few exchanges with the owner and a couple of other people at the office all who were on the same page and able to pull up my info without repeating myself. They gave me the rate and explained beforehand that I'd incur a fee of an extra $10 per hour because it was a holiday week/end of the month, and that was a higher rate do to limited availability. I wont lie it did sting a little, but thats because when you move you are brokereeno! I still agreed and set up the move for 9 on the day after Memorial day. They inteded to perform a confirmation call the night before the move to confirm and took a deposit to secure the reservation. All honkey dory! Though I never did get the confirmation call, I was not worried,, they were right on. They called shortly before 9am the day of the move to explain traffic was holding them up. I appreciated the phone call, and they arrived within 20 mins to the storage unit. Right away they were off and loaded my whole what used to be 2 bedroom apartment into the truck in less than 30 mins - for a 10x15 storage unit full to the top of 30 years of madness... that was impressive! All of the 3 gentlemen sent were polite, curteous, had a good attitude and were very sweet with my 4 dogs the entire time. No complaints on the laborers here, they did not disappoint. They even made mention of some of my rugs having a bit of a smell from the moisture and wanted to make sure I was aware of the possible mold prior to unrolling them.I appreciated that. Filled out necessary paperwork and I offered to let them follow me - but they insisted I go on ahead and they'd see me shortly behind. The drive time between was about 45 mins or so and met with no traffic, all highway. I got home and had enough time to sweep, mop and move my belongings out of the way, and situate my dogs before they showed up... way before they showed up in fact. I was at home 45+ mins before I was concerned. I called the office and spoke with a nice gentleman that discovered at the intake point the drop off address was taken down wrong.and they were going in a different location. I was indeed a bit miffed but I didn't tear the guy's head off or anything. Hey, shit happens! Gladly the mistaken address wasn't that far and i had called with enough time so the truck showed back up in less than 20 mins. Before I knew it , my entire downstairs was filled with my life in boxes and they carefully placed a huge heavy hutch in my dining area, that needed special care and assembly. At the close of the move, the bill and hourly rate was reviewed and to my dismay i noticed I was charged for the hour of wasted time anyways. I agreed to pay this anyhow with the intention of settling it with the office later, not the driver/laborers fault at all. The next day I re-opened the Yelp message to notify the owner and he was super quick to respond, I explained all of the above and he immediately deducted 1 hr of labor from the final bill, which all in all was not discount rate company prices but also reasonably priced for the short notice and the amount I had to move ( I needed 3 people, all of my stuff would have killed 2 guys!) The stress of moving vanishes and all that leads up to it kind of melts away when you see your stuff all in one building... in the right place! They do have packing services available but I didn't need it. I may need it in the future with my parent's old house and I'm stoked because I've never had a good experience with a mover before to want to be a repeat customer. Overall, I would recommend using Home Team,(especially for smaller moves),,they are professional , fair and mindfuil of your belongings. I would likely use them again... but holy hell I am done moving! read more

These guys are flat-out amazing -- they're gods among movers. My move was kind of a trainwreck, through no fault of Home Team's (I had more stuff than I expected to have, I wasn't done packing when they arrived, and it rained, among other problems) and they cheerfully rolled with every setback and annoyance. They were careful, fast, smart, and thorough, they communicated well (with me and with each other), and they held to their high standards for every minute of a very long day. There was some minor breakage that they dealt with promptly. I will never use another moving company -- Home Team has my business forever. Home Team has a relationship with a charity called Household Goods that distributes used furniture, kitchenware, etc. to people in need. They loaded my donations on the same truck as my furniture and delivered it to the charity later in the week. These guys saved me from a nightmare moving experience. I booked a company before these guys, who proceeded to quote me Triple what Matt did. On the night before I needed to move I was calling people left and right to find quotes, and Matt was the first to respond within 10 minutes! So my sister utilized them more than I did (I utilized myself and boyfriend), but these guys were awesome. I have no idea what it cost since they mostly came for my sister, but they showed up at least 20 minutes early and were SO SPEEDY!! Also SUPER friendly! She had this huge ass sofa (legit enormous) to get downstairs out of our apartment and into a door to door storage pod. Well first they thought it was not going to fit, and offered her storage for $25 for the month (!!!). I didnt think it would fit, boyfriend didn't think it woud fit, and her boyfriend didn't think so either. But, they were amazing and ended up fitting that, and ALL OF HER STUFF, and got it all done in record time. I'd definitely use them again. Super professional, efficient, and friendly. But this time we had a completely different experience. While the moving team was professional and courteous during the move, we lost 4 boxes of our precious books. Talked to a friend who said they were pretty good and saw their truck in the neighborhood. I was doing a full house move but short distance. I had to reschedule over a holiday weekend and the Manager called back and was willing to accommodate my change at the last minute. That was a welcome change - he took the time to understand the situation. The movers showed up on time and were professional - they asked appropriate questions indicating their level of experience and attention to detail. They were really quick and responsive. I was very pleased with the service. The house we went into had a small mark at the top of the stairs from a convertible couch turning the corner. The manager a few days later sent someone out free of charge to clean the mark off the wall - I was not sure what to apply and felt it better for them to try it otherwise I would not have bothered them. I want to marry every single person who works at this place. I've used them twice in a six month period and will likely be using them again within the next six months. My two moves have been extraordinarily stressful. I moved from a home I own to a rental and used Gentle Giant. They wound up breaking a few things of mine when they packed it and I decided I wouldn't be using them again. Three months later, the rental was flipped and I had to move out last minute BACK to the home I own. I called Home Team based on the Yelp reviews and I was so so so happy. Let me say this - I've moved over 15x in the last 10 years. I'm no stranger to movers and moving companies. Home Team has been the BEST experience by far out of any moving company that I've ever used. Hands down. First, I deal with chronic illness that leaves me in pain and not as mobile. This adds additional stress to an already stressful situation. I had Home Team pack my things (because I was unable to at the time). Tom and the team did SUCH a careful job packing my things. Everything was wrapped well, labeled appropriately, and moved to the right place. Everyone was super nice, courteous, and professional. The next day, they moved me to my house and again, were extraordinarily nice, professional, prompt, and courteous. They return calls quickly and are wonderfully communicative. Ben was the team leader for the pack and move, and I LOVED him. I left a toolbox in the rental which my prior landlord moved to another unit (I don't know why) and didn't tell me. I thought that Home Team accidentally left it on their truck, so when I called them, they said they'd look for it and when they were unable to, they offered to reimburse me for the cost of my tools/toolbox no questions asked. Fortunately, I found it and it was not an issue, but I really appreciated the way Home Team handled this issue. Second move - I moved again from the home I own to another rental. I work in Boston and own a home too far away, so the commute is killer. I also have two large dogs. So, I found a unit in a basement that would take the dogs but it was a PAIN IN THE ASS to get things into. Home Team saved the day. Batista (Bati) was the team lead on this particular move - extremely professional, efficient, and knows how to get things done. He's also a serious hottie, but that's another story. He came with Tom (who was at my first move), and another guy whose name escapes me but was also equally awesome (guy with two braids, tattoos, and a goatee). We had to move half of my things into storage and the other half into my apartment. They didn't fuck ANYTHING up. They loaded the truck properly so that what I wanted in storage went into storage in the right order and I had easy access to the things that I wanted to be able to reach. Secondly, they tried EVERYTHING to fit my boxspring into my unit before giving up; I mean, they really tried EVERYTHING. I decided that I wanted to move my boxspring to my storage unit, which meant a return trip for them. It also should have been a return trip for me, but Bati, instead, took my storage key and mailed it back to me to save me a trip. They were efficient, considerate, friendly, and a pleasure to be around. I fucking hate moving. Everyone does. The guys at Home Team make it seem like they LOVE moving heavy things around. I want to give these guys a higher rating, they gave me such friendly service to put my stuff into storage at a friend's in December, that I used them a 2nd time to unload my stuff out of storage a few months ago for an out-of-state move, but I used another service to unload on the other end. Now both movers are blaming the other for the unfortunate damage that happened to one very nice piece of my furniture. I'm sure the Hometeam movers wrapped this one piece poorly in the truck on the 2nd move, but it's my word against theirs, so they won't take responsibility and are blaming the other guys, and it's turned into a hassle I don't know how to win because the insurance company also said it'll be hard to prove having used two movers. So, I have to live with the damage, cause I don't have anymore time to go through hoops when I just started a new job as well. The furniture also could've been damaged months ago when they moved it into storage, I hadn't seen this piece since the first move. In all other ways, their team was meticulous and courteous, wrapped everything else in plastic and/or blankets both moves, but this one piece was the unfortunate part that ruins my ability to rate them well. I paid for insured movers, but now I can't get the damage covered, so I have to look at that damaged piece of furniture, that was fairly new, indefinitely! Also, they didn't tell me up front the first move that they charge you from their garage in Belmont and back, so if they run into traffic trying to get to/from your place, you're already in the hole. They did give me a discount because I didn't know this, and maybe this is what makes them appear more reasonably priced than other movers that charge you more for moving hours only, but make sure you factor that time in when you plan your budget. If you live far outside of Belmont, this alone could eat up any savings by using them. Just an additional note to consider. read more

They wrapped my delicate expensive furnishings, so that nothing was damaged. They moved everything back in two and a half months again very carefully and professionally. We recently bought a house and sold our condo, so as you can imagine when it came time to move we had limited funds. We had planned on having friends and family help, but we realized that wasn't realistic and began researching movers. I called Home Team after I found them on Yelp. James called me back right away and I liked him from the get go, and decided to hire him (not to mention his quote was at least $200 less than any other company I had contacted). They arrived the morning of my move (they were a little late, but did call to let me know ahead of time). I was originally quoted a price for 6 hours, which included the 24 miles distance from our condo to our new house. To my surprise, the move only took 4 hours from start to finish, and it was $100 less than my original quote. Nothing was broken (and we had LOTS of breakables), and they took extra care after my husband mentioned how much I loved our China Cabinet - They were very protective and ensured that made it there safely! The movers were all so nice, and friendly. I gave Home Team's information to my real estate agent so she could pass it along because it was incredible service at a great price. Thankfully I won't be moving again for a long, long time - But, if I was, I would gladly hire Home Team again and recommend them to anyone looking for affordable movers, who do excellent work. read more
