Let me tell you about this place, STAY AWAY!! First at 10:30am the waitress states she was closed for 30 mins because she was on break, come back 45 mins later, waited in a huge line, got seated, whew, order a drink, didn't see her for 30 mins longer, which I didn't mind as there was huge line of people waiting, 60% were turned away! If I had to guess I'd say this business won't be here much longer. Finally she comes back, I think to take my order, but instead she hands me my check, I ask if I can order food, she informs me that they are closed. It's 12:30! Arrived at 10:15. Breakfast was over. No prob. ;-) We switched to the lunch menu and asked for gumbo. Our server said the gumbo was likely not ready because they don't prepare the gumbo until after breakfast, which ended at 10. We said we would wait. Our flight was delayed. She offered to check when it might be ready. Our sweet server went to the kitchen. I heard the guy in the back raising his voice at her. I walked over to cancel the order and heard her apologizing and saying she just wanted to know if we should wait or go somewhere else. I flew out of MEM on Monday and didn't have much selection for food. The nearest restaurant was in the concourse on the opposite side of the entire airport from my flight. I made the trek and found Home Team Sports. The food was over priced and tasted like freezer food that was Microwaved. The wait staff was not rude but far from friendly. Trying to get my waiter to take my order took some time. It was the same way when trying to pay. I had to run to the other side of the airport to catch my and barely made it. UNBELIEVABLE. I feel so bad for their servers. Examples? For breakfast on a Monday morning we decided we had an hour before our flight so sat down at a table. 7 minutes later our overworked server showed up and asked what we'd like to drink. 10 minutes later our coffees arrived (no waters that we had asked for). We ordered their "Granola, Yogurt, Fresh Fruit Plate" $8.79. Our server informed us that they were out of fruit as the person that cuts the fruit works Mon-Friday and they hadn't started yet. Anyone ordering fruit on a Sunday gets Friday's cut fruit. We replied we'd live with no fruit, just give us a bit more granola and yogurt. 15 minutes later 2 bowls of yogurt arrived (2 bowls per person!). Awesome .. lots of yogurt! Such a sad airport, this place was the only place open on a Saturday afternoon. I tried to order a beer, they only had 4-5 beer options, and nothing I usually drink. I asked if they have food, the bartender said only a cheeseburger or a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce tomato cheese and chips. I was like ok. Give me the chicken sandwich. When I paid, I was kinda shocked. A beer and chicken sandwich was $22 and change. Holy cow. When the sandwich came out it was the smallest chicken sandwich I had ever been served. I had a 1 1/2 hour layover at the Memphis airport so I thought I'd grab a burger. After listening to servers yell across the room asking about "did you get your chili!", three times, I realized I may regret the decision to eat here. The menu was sticky, the server acted pleasant but the place was in obvious disarray. While I waited, I looked through the window to the kitchen. The cook was texting on his phone, pictures, and rubbed his beard. He did not wash his hands. He locked eyes with me and laughed to a coworker about me noticing his actions. He starts working again, again, did not wash his hands. I saw my burger placed in the window, and thought nope, not going to eat that after what I witnessed. I got up and left. I would have spoken to a manager but again, this place was a mess to the point where servers placed orders under wrong tables and 7 people huddled around the register to figure out what in the hell was going on. RUDE‼‼‼ The two ladies (which is being very generous with this description) were sitting on their cell phones at 6:30 AM while the sign says they opened at 6 AM. I walked in to ask what time they would open and she said I had to get out of there because THEY didn't have their masks on. I said "oh I'm sorry I thought you open at 6 AM and the one lady said "it also says we close at 12 and I was here until 6." Not really my problem, they didn't have to be so rude. An hour later my daughter had NO WHERE to sit so she sat down in a chair near the rail & was told she could not sit there. My daughter cried bc the lady was so rude. My husband and I both worked in the service industry for over 20 years and tip very well, this business will be out of business sooner than later. read more

This was a nice place at the airport to grab lunch. Most of the times, I don't talk to much about or expect much from most dining establishments in the airports that I travel to. I ordered the Southwest Fiesta salad today and it was really good. It far exceeded my expectations of typical airport food. The greens were fresh and not wilted. The chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. It comes with salsa ranch salad dressing and a small serving of guacamole. It was a good portion size, not too much and not too little. I would order this salad again. My waitress was really friendly and attentive and after taking my drink order, and delivering my food and drink, she constantly came back to check on me even though the restaurant was busy. read more

Feels like broken record sometimes when writing reviews of places in the Memphis airport. The service is simply always less than desirable. I don't know if it is the humidity or what. But this place was no different. As other have said, the food is decent enough, though the wait is still longer than expected. I've gotten to the point where I'm writing reviews about this airport simply to recommend that people get away from their to find good dining. I hope that one day I find a spot with better service. Waited about 5 to 7 minutes when a female server came out, slammed a chair down by a table closer to where she apparently wanted us to sit, and said 'You need to sit here. We only have 2 servers!' We promptly and quietly grabbed our belongings and left the premises. Walked right by her while she was looking at another table, and she didn't even acknowledge us. On catching a domestic flight to Houston first thing I decided to try and grab some breakfasts near to where my flight would depart from (I was in C). Walking along the line there wasn't a large choice but I decided on having a cooked breakfast of scrambled eggs (yum), sough-dough toast potatoes sausages and hot black coffee (is there any other way to have it). I saw some of the reviews whilst sitting down and have to say the place was clean and tidy the staff working were pleasant and whilst the food took a little while to bring you need to remember it isn't a fast food restaurant like certain burger chains so nothing is waiting to be brought out. The food isn't the best in the world but for a total of $14 you are eating what you pay for and I would go back to try something else in the future. read more

For starters the bartender/waitress chick can really benefit from taking 1-2 customer service skills courses!!! She is not friendly at all, like a simple smile or acknowledged would even been better than that face that she hates working there or that she is too busy to tend to you (except if you sit at the bar! There she gives lots of attention to those customers. I ordered a coke... I saw other customers come in after me and guess what !? They got their drinks first , I never got my. So I had to walk up to the bar and get my own coke. This is an airport restaurant so they know you are on a deadline. Apparently that means that you can wait for your server and the food for however long they want you to. NOT. The wait staff was pleasant but not attentive and not quick to greet you. Don't expect a refill unless its alcohol. The salad as well worth the price and were huge. Unfortunately I travel to Memphis 2-3 times a month, and this is the best worst place in the Memphis airport if you want a drink and food. They are all horrible in C terminal. The service and food are always very poor and I've tried about everything. If you don't want a drink, you're better off with the quality of the sandwiches and chips at Starbucks. Bad service? Not for me! Sat right at the bar and joked with the very nice bartender Betty before ordering a cold draft beer. Granted, the draft selections aren't the best, but hey, as I said, the beer was cold. Menu features your typical bar offerings, some with a "Memphis" twist (e.g., the Memphis potato skins are topped with pulled pork). Now that I think about it, all the "Memphis" dishes involved pork. Found a thumbtack in my french toast. Yesterday i ordered breakfast and felt something hard in my mouth, turned out to be a black thumbtack. I watched the waitress tell a kitchen worker through the serving area hole and it was met with a shrug and not a second thought. Walked in at 6:50 with a big appetite. My flight was delayed and there are only a few restaurants in the entire airport. I'm not going to let this delay bring me down though - this oasis is packed with customers. I could clearly see there were two waitresses slowly covering the room. I waited patiently and imagined what I'd order. Burger? Nachos? Overpriced chicken fingers? I waited. After sitting and waiting for 10 minutes, a waitress slowly wandered with a few tables of my beer-soaked table and shouted "WE'RE CLOSED!" I gathered up my things and navigated my way back out of the maze of occupied tables. When the self-pity subsided, I purchased a package of Combos and reflected. I imagined being a small business owner, turning away paying customers (and the people eyeing tables from the outside). MEM is not the airport you want to be stuck in at any hour, but Home Team Sports somehow made it worse. read more

Airport restaurants are in a tough category. They usually are not destinations that you normally seek out. And since Memphis AIrport is undergoing a renovation, it seems there aren't that many dining choices. So if you find yourself at Home Team Sports, I'd suggest going somewhere else. My experience was poor on almost every level. The place wasn't that crowded, but the wait staff couldn't be bothered to clear off the table from the last guest. (OK, I'm not too proud to bus my own table.) But the service was extremely slow - not good when you are on a schedule. And everything about my order was wrong. I ordered a sweet tea and got regular. I ordered the Turkey BLT and got a small toasted sandwich with turkey and some undercooked bacon - no lettuce, no tomato, no mayo. (So, not really a Turkey BLT, eh?) It was smothered in unremarkable fries, only about a third I could stomach. All this for the low price of around $18.00! I'd hate to say it, but this place sucks. I give airport places a pass on a lot of things but I can only get so merciful. Pros: -Our waitress was friendly, but that was the only real pro Cons: -Service was unacceptably slow. Good thing my gate was right next to the place. It took about 15 minutes for my coworker to get his beer due to a keg change. -Poor layout has waitresses reaching over and handing food and drinks to customers in odd ways as opposed to placing items on the table. -Cleanliness was bad. More wiping down of all surfaces needed -The Gumbo was a huge miss. Pretty much canned slop. Bottom line: I don't like giving out 1 stars but this place needs a lot of help. It is hideously understaffed and given the traffic they should be able to handle a little more help I tolerate bad experiences and a bad visit and try to measure it fairly. Airport restaurants come with low expectations... but this place managed to disappoint even our limited expectations. There were four tables with people at them when we arrived and 6 wait staff but yet it took them 15 minutes to come take our simple burger and fries order. Once the food arrived it was incorrect and we then had to wait again while it was corrected. While eating the marginal and now lukewarm meal we were never approached about refills of water or drinks. The only time that help was quick to approach was when a check was requested. McDonalds has better food and better service ... I recommend going there. read more
