The place was VERY busy while I was there but the lines moved fast and they had multiple places you could buy food and drinks which helped. They also have a little market with all types of snacks, food, and drinks that are perfect to enjoy out on the lawn or patio. We were too late to see the farm or animals but we could view them in the distance which was a really cool and unique experience. I cant wait to come back for one of their many events they seem to hold. Quick tips: parking was a disaster, don't assume you will be parking in their lot if you go on a busy night or weekend. They had options nearby though that you could walk from. Also, the margaritas are strong, but in a good way! Don't be fooled by the premixed drink, I had two and was definitely feeling it.

We didn't get a chance to do the farm tour since we were limited on time, so we just grabbed something to eat from the cafe inside the market, got some coffee, and hung out for a bit before heading out. Caramel Rosemary Latte 5/5: Surprisingly good. Savory Toast with Egg 5/5: From farm to fork, this was so good. Ham and Brie Sandwich 4/5: The kids got this. The filling was good, but the bread was a bit hard. Tuna Sandwich 4/5: Same with this one, the sandwich itself was good, but the bread was a bit dense. Overall, it's a great place, the food is great, and I'm looking forward to coming back.

I took my Mom who I learned my gawking skills from and we had an excellent time walking and gawking at all of the amazingly designed lighting exhibits. There were quite a few parking attendants around to point people toward spots and away from full lots. We went the day after Thanksgiving and it was full but it didn't take us long to find a parking spot. There were signs and the attendants also pointed everyone in the direction to the entrance. At the front, security checked bags and scanned tickets and ushered people into the park. Guides at the front suggested a route which included following the arrows lighted along the routes through the garden. It was so gorgeous! People were quite respectful of others trying to get photos of displays and couple and group photos. At one location I became the honorary photographer after helping out a few people. We walked around and posed and all for over three hours. It was a well spent wholesome family evening. You're killing it, SD Botanic Garden!

From the moment we started planning, Shannon (our wedding planner) was nothing short of exceptional. I had such a terrible experience at another venue and when we made the decision to change venues to Secret Garden, she metaphorically took my hand and turned planning into the BEST and MOST magical experience. She made what is usually (and had been) a stressful process feel effortless, organized, and honestly... SO much fun! She's upbeat, enthusiastic and clearly LOVES what she does, which makes everything feel exciting. She anticipated needs before we even knew we had them, handled every detail with precision, and made us feel completely taken care of the entire time. Not only that, she made us feel special, seen, heard and adored. Her magical energy made the whole process feel like we were planning our wedding with people who cared for us like family! And, every visit to secret garden -before, during our ceremony, and after to pick up decorations - she greeted us like we were family! We felt so welcome and so special. On the day of, Cheryl (our wedding coordinator) brought everything to life seamlessly. She was calm, kind, incredibly on top of everything, and made sure every moment flowed beautifully. She even put bandaids on my bleeding feet and helped sew my ripped dress. I never once felt stressed or pulled in a million directions--she held the entire day with such grace and professionalism, which allowed us to actually be present and soak in every second. And, the whole time it felt like she was going above and beyond to make sure we loved our day. And the vendors... WOW. Every single one exceeded expectations! The DJ Harry O was AMAZING! He even captured photos for us and sent them to us after the wedding. He was such a delight. The efficient made sure paper work was taken care of effortlessly. But, my favorite detail of all were the decorations and the flowers! Vanessa and her family who have been doing flowers for generations are AMAZING! They were beyond stunning--elevated, romantic, and even more beautiful than I could have imagined. The arrangements felt like they were pulled straight out of a dream and completely transformed the space. She went so far above and beyond to make my vision come to life. Truly unforgettable. This is a family owned business and it feels that way from start to finish! What stood out most is how above and beyond everyone went. This wasn't just a "service"--it felt like a team of magical people who genuinely cared about making our wedding perfect. Every detail, every interaction, every moment felt thoughtful and intentional. If you're considering getting married here--do it. This team delivers not just a wedding, but an experience that feels magical, seamless, and deeply personal. We'll be reliving this day forever

We got married on December 14, 2024 and it was the most beautiful day we could have imagined! As the day approached, we met with our day-of coordination Laura and she was truly amazing!! She helped me create the day of my dreams and was very prompt in responding to any of our concerns. She helped bring our vision to life and I am so grateful!! The very inclusive experience at The Secret Garden was also so helpful. We ended up going through our own food vendor for BBQ for dinner, but everything else was seamless and really helped ease the wedding planning stress. The photography and videography team was so amazing and captured our day so beautifully. I still cry tears of joy looking at our pictures and videos from the special day! :') The DJ services provided were also amazing and we couldn't have been happier with DJ Jason Lyons! Overall, we could not be happier with our experience at The Secret Garden. It was worth every penny to marry my best friend at such a beautiful place surrounded by everyone we love!! :)

A friend of a friend was celebrating her birthday and singing for open mic night. She invited us to go. I really did not know what to expect but I did know that it was a neighborhood bar atmosphere. They also have a nice little patio that advertised they had had a barbecue earlier in the day. We walked in the front door to this very eclectic small bar and made our way to the front to find our seats with the birthday girl. The tables and chairs were tightly packed, and it was a little challenging to navigate. It was quite loud, but people were clearly having a great time. It was a fun atmosphere and lots of people were dancing. The musicians kept rotating out and different genres were performed on a very crowded stage. You can tell it's a locals' favorite spot and people seemed to know each other. It was definitely an older crowd that night as well. It's a funky little dive bar with a great energy (at least the night we went). They have a calendar of events on the wall behind the bar. They have different kinds of music and different foods depending on the night. If I am in Encinitas and wanting a drink or non-pretentious environment, I would return.

We tried some of their margaritas, which were absolutely delicious, and really enjoyed the ambiance. The staff was friendly, the service was great, and the overall vibe made it a fun spot to visit. Our large group has attended Sunset Trivia for 6+ years across San Diego. We are exactly the kind of repeat customers businesses usually want to acquire during weekly events like trivia nights. This was our first time at Carruth Cellars. One member of our group arrived early and specifically asked about the menu. She was told the food menu was small and that most people bring in or order outside food. At no point did the brunette woman behind the counter mention restrictions on outside beverages or that purchases were expected in order to participate in trivia. Later, one friend's bottled soda needed a bottle opener, and when my husband politely asked the woman at the counter for help, she abruptly refused and informed him outside drinks were not allowed. Shortly after that, she came to our table and told us trivia was "for patrons only." The issue is not that the business wants customers to purchase something. That is completely understandable. The issue was the hostile, reactive way it was handled after we had already settled in -- especially when there were multiple opportunities earlier to simply communicate expectations politely and proactively. What felt especially shortsighted is that while many trivia attendees there may already be established wine club members, our group represented a completely different type of long-term customer opportunity. We are regular trivia goers who rotate between locations weekly, and businesses that create a welcoming atmosphere naturally earn repeat food and beverage purchases from us over time. Instead, rather than making new customers feel welcome and encouraging future spending organically, the interaction immediately made us feel scrutinized and unwelcome. Had the experience been warm and inviting instead of confrontational, there is a very good chance Carruth Cellars would have gained a recurring trivia group willing to spend money there week after week. One of our teammates later tried to respectfully explain that it was our first visit and that none of these expectations had been communicated upfront. The disgruntled employee responded that it was "implied" people should purchase something. Good hospitality does not rely on guests guessing unstated rules. We walked away feeling like the business was more focused on policing potential customers than creating an environment that actually encourages people to return and spend money voluntarily. The woman working on the evening of May 19th was not a positive representation of your winery, and if this is how guests are treated, it raises serious concerns about how new customers are being welcomed.

Finally, the owner called me out for staying to late, until 9pm. According to my membership, I can stay until then, but he said that, since I was the only one there, I was using up too much electricity, thus not making it cost effective due to the energy bill.
