I've been wanting to decorate my apartment more, especially with seasonal items, so I figured why not check out HomeGoods. The store itself is very clean, and the workers here are really friendly. This location has a great variety, although feels a bit smallish and cramped, if that made any sense. The prices here do feel a bit steep to me, but maybe that's because I don't go to one of these stores often and the prices feel the same as a department store price. I did find a couple cute, non-holiday but still autumn items here. I spent about $140 for two throw pillows, a throw blanket, a costume for my dog, a vase, and some dog pooh bags. Racist experience at checkout--completely unacceptable. I had an extremely upsetting interaction at the Woodbury Town Center HomeGoods location today. When I approached the cashier and began placing my items on the counter--focused and silent--the cashier said "hello," which I didn't immediately respond to as I was arranging my items. Instead of waiting a moment or continuing professionally, she called over another employee (an Asian woman), who then looked directly at me and said "Ni hao" as if that was appropriate or welcome. This was not only racially presumptuous and unprofessional, it was dehumanizing. I speak perfect English. I don't need to be greeted in a language that wasn't mine just because of how I look. When I confronted the situation by saying "I speak perfect English," the employee walked away. The cashier didn't apologize--she just proceeded with the transaction and asked which store I work at when I placed my employee discount card on the counter. There was zero accountability. No apology. Just quiet dismissal. This kind of racial profiling masked as "customer service" is disgusting. If you're a person of color shopping here--be aware. To corporate: Train your staff. This is my favorite place to furnish my house. They have amazing deals, but you have to buy something as soon as you see it because the next day it could be gone. The prices are also so reasonable. Good place to find gifts for friends and family. Sometimes you find good varieties here. You have to be patient because some items are disorganized and there's quite a lot of clutter. But if you are patient enough you will find some hidden gems. There aren't staff walking around so if you are looking for something in particular then you have to look for it. Home goods has it all. There is a huge disservice that this location has and involves returns without a a physical receipt. I've been to stores like REI where they're able to go the extra mile and search up your purchase history and receipts based on the credit card you use to purchase the item. I guess home goods doesn't do that or doesn't want to because when my hamper strap broke within the week I bought it, they refused to help me in anyway with an exchange or refund without my physical receipt. They didn't offer a way to find me in the system based off my credit card. They didn't seem interested at all in helping or finding solutions. read more

This place is STUFFED - sometimes hard to maneuver around people and display stands. Lots of items all over the place and unorganized, but that's probably more the customers' fault than the store. They have all the usual categories - kitchen, decor, furniture, etc. We were debating on getting a huge wall clock, but the price wasn't right. Ended up getting a Woodstock plush, which made me happy! It's always a great surprise for me to find the little guy. Staff seems nice enough. This place carries lots of one off items. Some fairly good quality at discounted rate. Overall not a place I visit all the time. 1. Place is a mess, hard to find things. 2. Customer service horrible. There was a listing for frying pan; both look the same but different price. I figure it must be a different model but unable to tell. None of the staff could tell me why it is listed as different price even asking if they are different model. Keeps telling me because it is labeled at higher price. There is no way a customer should pay different price for the same item. You should know before shopping at this store location in Irvine off of Irvine Blvd. Go somewhere else especially if you're also an avid shopper that likes to spend. Purchased some home decor items, pillows and plants in July. Due to COVID, was not able to get out to make a return due to compromised health, their hours of amended opperation and the really bad air quality due to all the fires. I called earlier today to explain the situation to the manager over the phone on 10-6-2020, they said sure bring it by tonight. Went in at 8 pm, asked to speak to the manager and he said no only store credit. I explained everything again and he was rude and said nope. The cashier even said sorry for that. From the store manager to several of the associates, we have had multiple condescending, argumentative or outright rude interactions which we have never experienced at any other HG. One female associate even went as far as to say that we were free to complain; her job was secure no matter what happened. There are a few nice associates here, but they are few and far between. It is evident that those hired are a direct reflection of the hiring manager and a reflection of his poor customer service standards. This store is close to our home and the most convenient location. I came to this store yesterday specifically looking for a single bowl raised pet dish. They didn't have any, but I settled on a double dish one and went to the check out area. There were two cashiers and one was busy with a crazy woman. She was trying to return items that were different than what was on her receipt and she was yelling she wasn't a thief and demanding cash and that no one could see her drivers license. It was insane. There were only a couple people in front of me and even with the one cashier it moved fairly quickly. When the cashier went to ring up my purchase she decided it was priced wrong. The only price sticker was on one of the bowls and it was $4.99. She went to get another one which I told her there weren't anymore. She came back with another kind and told me she was going to instead charge me $12.99 like the other kind. I said that makes no sense. It's marked at $4.99. After a few minutes I asked for a manager. I felt bad with the chaos going on next to me to also have a problem but come on. A manager and another cashier are called and the manager proceeds to tell me that yes she will charge me $12.99 or mark the stand down and sell it to me with no bowls. So the piece comes with bowls, clearly - why would I agree to that? If something is marked a certain price that's what it should be sold for. It was clear the sticker couldn't have been removed and replaced, and I was in the store less than 5 minutes total. The manager was not friendly and both her and the cashier had an attitude. It's just bad practice to behave this way and not honor a mistake (if it even was) on your end. I purchased a single bowl stand at another location for $3.99 so the price at $4.99 was not surprising to me. It was extremely lightweight. The entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth, I did not purchase the item, and I will shop at another store next time. read more

What can I say about this place? The parking lot is not that great to get in and out, just how the entire plaza is engineered. But, when you go inside this wonderful store, there is so much home decor and stuff to explore! Personally, I like the plant pots and home decor. I also like signs and cozy holiday decor. This store has a section for bedding, toys, kitchen items, interior decor (mirrors, art, furniture), candy, bedding, various fake flowers. Store is kept relatively stocked, but there are some areas that need organization (curtain and kitchen food areas). I was able to find some Mozart European Salzburg chocolates (which I love and have gotten when I visited Salzburg a decade ago) and it was delicious and cheaper than what I paid during my vacation. I also stumbled upon matching curtains for my bedroom so I grabbed a few of those. Only issue is that some styles only come in 84 inches long so if you have high ceilings like me you have to look hard for 96 inches long curtains. What I really came into this store was to get wrapping paper for a bridal shower and it was impossible to find. There are tons of wrapping paper for birthdays, seasons, Mother's Day and Father's Day but I thought this place would have bridal shower wrapping paper. I went looking for an employee to help me find other wrapping papers stations but none were found. Oh well. I know where else to go!!! Worst customer service ever. Low class, low quality and unprofessional staff. I had to make a return on an item that I did not want due to the quality and defective status the item has (I know items sold here aren't in the best shape but I still need something to be presentable when placed in my home). I needed to return a decorative piece, and the female manager wouldn't accept it saying that the piece "was worn". I never used it, and the original label AND tag was still kept in the same condition I purchased it in. What she kept saying did not match with what the sign of the return policy was stating, I called her out on the discrepancy between her verbal rules vs the ones listed on the sign that she kept pointing to. The male manager was standing behind her listening to our conversation, but not once did he come to include himself to understand or hear my frustration out, yet the lady kept turning back to speak to him. He just stood there staring at me. He could have approached us and showed that he cares, but he was too lazy to even take a step forward. This shows his disrespect towards the customer and that he could care less as to why I am frustrated. Rude female and male managers. Fix your return sign with better, detailed and accurate return policy and have a good set of staff that respects and cares for their customers. Worst location I've encountered, so far. read more

They have fun seasonal items that I always enjoy perusing the shelves for. Prices aren't super cheap, you can buy similar things at other shops for a similar price, but like I said, they do have some fun stuff. A lot of HomeGoods tend to carry similar/the same items, so it's not exactly one off. I enjoy it. The aisles are super tight if you have a pushchair though. I've only been to this location a couple of times, I like it because it's not very crowded and I live really close to it. I'm very impressed at how they're handling their reopening during this pandemic. They have team members outside monitoring how many people are in at a time, they have hand sanitizer in various places in their store and we noticed employees cleaning during our time in the store. They have arrows on the ground to direct traffic and prevent crowding. I came out with things but their inventory seemed a bit wiped out so I couldn't give the full 5 stars. read more

Customer service sucks. I went there after work to buy mirrors for the house and I had to carry all the mirrors with no one asking me for help. There was a guy that worked there that was very rude to me. He was annoyed that I was messing the order of mirrors and when I went to pay. The mirror was scratched so I asked if I can go get a different one. I went with my receipt and the same guy seems me and says didn't you pay?! We are closing in 5 mins. Seriously!! Never been to this location even though it is closer to me than the one in Tustin, and I will keep going to the Tustin location. Not too crowded and definitely no long line to check out unlike Tustin location, but item selection here is incompatible. Actually this location is more updated than the Lake Forest one, but still items are not really up to date. I like shopping at Homegoods to find varieties in good deal clothing,(especially for hubby), and all kinds of little things for needs in all around the house, sometimes I can find a very expensive cook wear for 70% off of regular price! Always loving to buy towels, when they get thin, I get new towels again because they are very cheaper here than any other places. Because Homegoods fast paced restocking, I can always find something new here, that's what I love about Homegoods. But in this location items are not stocked fast enough, nothing really interesting.
