I've shopped here a handful of times before when it's closer than the Highway 7 location…read more(preferred). It's more compact, and the parking lot can be a bit wild during peak times. It does have a Starbucks inside and does not have the Ulta section some other superTargets have. I went a few days before Christmas Eve, and stock was quite low in multiple sections: no Hawaiian rolls, very picked over board games, and picked over books. Given the time of the year and holiday shopping season, that is understandable. But many of the aisles were in disarray, which was a bit unsightly. I'm sure they are having a hard time with seasonal staffing, but it was quite noticeable. I attempted to do grocery shopping here and regretted it instantly: they didn't have Hawaiian rolls, and so much of their stock was picked over, I ended up having to go next door to Lunds to do the rest. This Target will be an if-I-have-to location for me, unfortunately.

This store needs an overhaul and full gut job. It's beyond neglected compared to all other Targets…read morein the area. It's so tired, dark and old it almost feels dirty. I don't know why but there's a spoiled milk smell that comes from the area around the laundry detergent. It also has terrible inventory management. Not just empty shelved but a lack of selection. Entire shelves can be dedicated to one brand with 6 flavors or variations of the same thing. (I'm sure this is also a function of oligopoly at play.) Perhaps the store intends to close and they just don't want to invest in the location anymore, which would make sense or they feel they don't need to since it's a convenience play for the area and we'll just accept it. I've been coming here for 20 years but it's such a poor experience on all fronts I can't do it anymore and I've shifted my spend elsewhere in the neighborhood.

On Dec. 8, 2023, I went to the West End Makers & Artisan Market that is sponsored by Muddy Paws…read moreCheesecake owner, Tami Cabrera. She created this market to help artists and artisans, and to collect toy donations (as well as household goods and non-perishable food items for humans and pets) for STEP (the St. Louis Park Emergency Program). It's the annual event's first year in this space, and according to the website, the Market will be going on AT LEAST through December 27, 2023, Tuesday-Sunday from 11:00am-5pm. We parked in the ramp across the street and had no trouble finding this space. It was well lit and clearly identified. The space inside is also well lit, and there's plenty of room to move around in. There's a central counter where you bring the items you wish to purchase to pay for them. For the event that day, a donation to STEP earned you a ticket for a free slice of Muddy Paws Cheesecake. They had on offer about a dozen different flavors that evening, "New York" being one, and it's my absolute favorite, both in texture and flavor. My companion chose a slice of the Salted Caramel, which is equally delicious, but in a different way. For environmental reasons, I was so pleased to see the slices being served in paper board boxes, instead of the previous clear hard-plastic clam shells. There's a large section displaying the clothing pieces designed by St. Paulite, Laura Hlavac. Also available are jewelry made by various artisans, artisan pieces made from things such as snow skis, hockey sticks, hockey pucks, metal piping, golf balls, leather scraps and antique flour sacks, quirky greeting cards, handmade holiday ornaments, soaps, candles, lotions & potions, unique clothing pieces, and hats. In addition, you'll find a large selection of locally-designed puzzles. So many different things to see! And if you find yourself becoming a bit "hangry", buy yourself a slice of Muddy Paws Cheesecake and a bottle of water (or a cup of coffee if they're offering it) and set yourself down for a little while on one of the kids' chairs and relax, and enjoy your slice of delight. Or buy a slice (or an entire cheesecake) on your way out to enjoy later on at home!

Your neighbor's cat is pregnant and you're invited to the shower and need an outfit and a gift. Of course this all happens on the same day. Enter TJ Maxx. This location is blended with a Home Goods, so you can find it all. In addition to an extensive selection of clothes for everyone (all styles, sizes, age groups, etc.) at all price points, you'll find an amazing selection of beauty care items to keep you feeling great from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. This includes hair styling tools of all sorts, sheet masks, makeup, and great bath products. There are also tons of things for the home, from rugs to furniture to sheets and towels to home storage and organization. (Note to self: if I ever need to stage a home, I should go here.) I especially love the kitchen section--in addition to the great cookware and bakeware, they have great gourmet items, from pasta to chutney to cookies and tea. You can one hundred percent put together an amazing gift basket for your favorite foodie friend with very little effort. The lines can be long, but they move fast--just keep your ears open for the number of the next available cashier!
