Upset with my first trip to a Homegoods in San Rafael. I would have given this place 5 stars for the cleanliness, overwhelming things to buy as I was a kid in a candy store being very excited. Maybe because I was an easy target the bad customers wanted my cart items and wanted me to be frantic which they got their wish. Then 2 things destroyed my visit here. I left my cart with some cookies that only had one left on the shelf so I was excited . I made the mistake of leaving my cart on corner of store and did a sprint to explore each aisle one by one as I wanted to see what this store had and having a cart with me would slow me down. I also took a day off to head up north for an event and this was supposed to be a quick hour stop. After I was done about 20 minutes, I went back to look for my cart and it was gone. I doubted myself and backtracked where I was. I am sure others in store was wondering what I was doing holding a bottle and a box of cookies in my hand running around. I was getting extremely frustrated and mad how someone stole my cart and took my items! I decided to give up and I wasted more time here than expected which made me late to my next destination. 2. As I gave up my search for the cart I was only able to use my brand new $25 gift card on $15 worth of items I was able to find, since I lost the other half. The cashier called me and had problem ringing up my gift card. She reset everything and gave me my receipt and didn't return my gift card. I asked where's my card and she said it was empty. I was shocked and confused. I didn't know what to do. I didn't keep my original gift card envelope and I never scratched the code behind the card either. My mind was not in a right place as I was hungry and late for lunch. So I left. She had a lady behind her watching her 2 cashiers and she never came forward to help. So staff here are not efficient. Later as I went another hour north and finally ate lunch to be less dizzy, I studied my receipt and it said it had about $15 left on gift card. If I do go back, later will they believe me as I already left? I give up. This is ridiculous and I am too tired. 3. So much items in this store that it was dangerous as times were stuffed on shelves very tight and when you grab one item, then everything falls. It happened to two people and I helped them pick up the stuff and put back on shelf. So these 3 key points brought down my original 5 stars which I would have given. Sorry store, I did enjoy your unique and cute items here.

We went to Home Goods and looked around the store. They had a lot of Halloween stuff out. They were clean in the store. My friend found a lot of snoopy stuff at this store. The staff was friendly and my favorite area was stocked with different foods. I would recommend going to this store. If in the area again I would stop in to see what is available.

A friend of mine recently took it upon herself to remodel my living room. According to her, it needed a "woman's touch." I told her that I had a very tiny budget for any kind of interior re-design. She assured me that for under $500 she could guarantee me a whole "Trading Spaces/Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" kind of experience. Needless to say, I had to take her up on the challenge. Sure enough, she came in gave my old living room a much-needed cosmetic make-over (and for just $440). So how did she accomplish this? Simple answer: she purchased stuff at HomeGoods in San Rafael. She got me a rolling bar-cart; a number of colorful throw-pillows and home accents (eg candle sticks, a set of decorative antlers; vases; table lamps; and some other creative knick-knacks). The end result is a living room that I'm now proud to live in. No joke (see attached photo). My friend gave me an apartment make-over for under $500, and it's mostly thanks to the fine goods she purchased at HomeGoods! I can't wait to see what she and HomeGoods do for my kitchen and deck!!

Does anyone know if they are open yet post covid?

Soo soo sooo sad to say no, they are not open yet :-(

    When will this location reopen?

I just looked on Home Goods website- it says the San Rafael store will have a grand opening on September 8, 2019. Not sure if there will be a "soft" opening before this.

I used to live in this neighborhood so was very familiar with the location of this store even though I had never been inside. I decided that I wanted to "shop local" vs purchasing everything online. I have my new kitchen and bathroom designed, the electricians are coming and I am ready to make my selections. I take time from my day to drive over to this place in my old neighborhood. When I arrived, there was another client ahead of me. That was no problem. I wasn't in a hurry as I had set this time aside for this purpose. I was looking around the room and the woman working there asked me what I needed and when I told her, "a lot of lighting" she let me know that she wouldn't be available to help me for 20 minutes or so. I said, that's fine I can wait. Then she asked me if I had made a list of what I needed and what purpose/function I expected from each light fixture. Ummmm. I have a list in my head. I haven't written down a list. I am not a list making type of person but I know my spaces. Then she tells me I need to go home and make a list and come back when I have it because otherwise, I am going to "fall in love" with items out of my budget. Huh?? I was so confused! She had no idea what my budget was. She literally sent thousands of dollars in unsolicited business out the door. This place must not need new clients. That's ok. There are plenty of places that will happily take my money. I walked into an appliance store today and they were thrilled to show me their inventory and assist me in my purchases. It was a stark contrast to my experience at Lunaria. EDIT: To respond to the response. You are not being truthful with what happened. NEVER did you infer that I step out for coffee and come back. I WAS the person who asked for catalogs to look through while waiting and you specifically told me that would be a waste of time without a list. Even your client seemed to pick up on the fact that you were about to lose a customer and she then said, "Here, here are some catalogs if you would like to view them." and that is when I said, "She just said that would be a waste of time and is not her process." If you're going to tell the story, please be honest about what occurred. Super frustrating experience considering I set time aside to come view some lighting and even was very clear that I was in no hurry and didn't mind waiting for you to finish. You made it obvious, you didn't want to speak to me unless I had a list of lighting with what I expected each light to achieve. Those were almost your EXACT words. Not mine. 2nd EDIT: I just saw in your biz description, "Appointments are recommended." This says it all. You could have simply told me, "I would love to help you but it sounds like you have a big project that will be time consuming and I will need you to schedule an appointment. In the meantime, it would be helpful for my process if you make a list..." That would have been much more productive instead of coming across as dismissive and patronizing. As for misrepresenting what occurred, there really is no excuse for that.

We came in to this shop some months ago looking for a very specific incense, which is difficult (if not impossible) to find here in the US. The shop owner said she would be travelling to Nepal in a few months and would look for this particular incense at the grand market (she indicated that every kind of incense could be found there). I left my phone number with her and, quite frankly, did not expect to hear back. I WAS SO WRONG! She called me back exactly as she had promised upon returning to the US to let me know that she found the incense and had 10 boxes set aside for me. I was so blown away that she remembered and thought to call me. Of course, I bought all her stock in this incense because who knows when we would ever find it again! In case you're wondering, the incense is called Aparajita. It is the scent that the Beatles burned during their recording sessions beginning with the Revolver album. And, no, I don't believe they have any left, because we cleaned them out. :) LOL Also, I learned that in some cases the FDA won't sign off on some imports due to ingredients that have not been approved. I can only speculate why this incense is so hard to find here, but I do wonder if it has something to do with that. Regardless, as Beatles fans and as we carefully attempt to recreate "the vibe" of that recording sesh, we are eternally grateful that this shop assisted us with this search. A million thank yous!!!
