We've rode by on the Brown Line several times and have been wanting to try their outside patio. We stopped by a few weeks ago, and while we were quoted about 30 minutes for an outside seat, it only took about 10. While waiting for our table, we stopped at the bar, and since I'm more of a "fruity" cocktail fan, I asked for some advice from the bartender. She was the only drawback of Homeslice. She could not have been less helpful or friendly. She suggested one and then literally turned her back on me and finished re-arranging some clean glasses. We tried the Vodka Radler, and Ginger Sour and neither were that good, so those were the only drinks we had for the evening. We opted not to invest more money in a less than ideal bartender. The outside (in back) is beautiful (they also have seating in the front but definitely not the same ambiance as the back). Some are booths and some are picnic tables, but there are dividers between your side and the group next to you. It's definitely a "young" crowd place - being so close to Depaul. I can see this place getting pretty loud late at night. My husband and I each started with the Mixed Greens salad - which was very good and larger than I would have expected. Certainly not a small side salad. We would have loved to have tried the breadsticks, but there was like 10 per order - way too many for two people. We then got the Smoke Show medium pizza, and it was delicious. The crust made the pizza - nice and airy and great ingredients. Overall - great food and atmosphere and we will be back. read more

I didn't understand why they carded me at the door at noon, even though there was kids in the place. We ordered a medium pizza and it was really really good! The service was a little slow though. We saw our waiter maybe 2 times the whole meal. He wasn't very attentive and we had to go find him to try to refill our drinks. My family and I went to the city to see some fall colors and try to get a taste of normalcy! We stopped at Homeslice for lunch and it was the perfect choice! We did have to make a reservation in advance for outdoor seating and tables have an expiration time. It was a brisk day so heaters were set up in the tent for some warmth...it was lovely. We ordered a couple of pizzas, the BMZ and Bennett's Beauty. Both were delish! The crust was the best. It had a flavorful crisp to it but not crunchy, it was still soft! Yum! This place is great. I love the uniqueness of it and the outside and semi-outside seating. The service is amazing and it just has such a chill, feel good vibe to it! The theme is part camping and part hipster. There is no shortage of outdoor seating and you should expect to be pleasantly surprised by the decor out back. I love the vibe. I was pleasantly surprised by this lively spot! They added a huge outdoor area with a great vibe. I shared the large Hughes Delight veggie pizza with vegan cheese. There was an overwhelming assortment of toppings which made the slices heavy, but the vegan cheese I recognized and was delicious!! It tasted like normal pizza, which I missed so much. We also shared the Sesame Soy salad, which was alright but not a huge portion. The pizza portion, however, was quite impressive. I only had two slices and another leftover, so I'd say the pizza is a good deal for the sheer size, toppings, and flavors you get. The Matcha Lemonade was simply amazing! One of the best drinks I've had in a while. Not sure how much alcohol was in it though; they might have skimped a little. Great local place with a nice rustic type of feel. At Christmas time they go all out with the decorating and it's pretty impressive, especially for a local pizza place. They also have a fair amount of outdoor seating in the summer in the back and the side of the restaurant. I've been here about 4 times in the last few months and they've been pretty good all those times. I want to make it my local spot to recommend, but for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on I can't say it's amazing. The service is usually fine, but they are sometimes slow even when it's not too busy. So that's why 4 stars is a solid rating for me. This was the first time we ordered Homeslice - I found them online because I was looking for a place that offers vegan cheese pizza for my son who has a dairy and egg allergy. When I called, Julie answered and was really friendly, informative and reassuring that they could safely make my son a pizza - she said that she'd go back in the kitchen to talk to the cooks about my allergy order. My friends and I noticed Homeslice a few weeks back but just recently got the chance to stop in for a Blackhawks game. It has such a cool vibe with a modern wood cabin feel. The decor alone is what finally got us to stop in, but we'll definitely be back after trying some of their awesome pizza! We got the Zephy, Strike a Posner, and some meat pizza. As the vegetarian of the group, I loved that they had such a great selection of amazing veggie pizzas! (From what I hear, the meat one was pretty good too.) The dough they use is amazing, so next time I'll probably get one of the breadstick appetizers. The beer list was also pretty solid. Definitely worth checking out! The only downside: the tables are set up almost cafeteria style and not all views have that great of views if you're trying to catch the game. I made the mistake of not researching homeslice before attending and damn did I regret that. Buckle in. The food: I am not sure if they have a kitchen or a toaster oven out back. I have had better potato skins from a box, and they weren't even hot. The pork on top also had gristle in it. I got the gluten free pizza (which is a small might I add) to share and we ate a single slice. It was not cooked and stale at the same time. Beats me how they managed that! She sat on the patio and when we showed up, they wouldn't sit us with her because they said our ID cards and vaccination cards were "fake". They made us sit in a different section and would not let us order drinks, but our friend who arrived first was allowed to order drinks just because they were flirting with her. This place is absolutely packed, even with the limited amount of seating they have, and I can see why. The decor is obviously amazing and I think this would be a great place to take someone visiting the Chicago area who isn't interested in only being in the Loop area. The wait staff did forget about us for probably 20 minutes after we first sat down but they apologized profusely and comped our drinks, which was really great of them. I got the turkey calzone and it was delicious, filling, and not too heavy - next time I will definitely be trying one of their pizzas. I am obsessed with all things Happy Camper/Homeslice. I love these two restaurants almost as much as I love pizza itself. The atmosphere is always fun, inviting. You can tell these people have a passion for pizza and happy stomachs. There is really nothing better than piping hot goat cheese and tomato sauce. I really don't know how/why every person doesn't order this at either restaurant. It's the best thing on the menu. Other than those goat "stix," the Da Duba pizza is great. Our waiter, whose name I'm blanking on but absolutely LOVED, recommended that we dip the crust into the remaining goat cheese mix (which, funny enough, we already had that idea). A little pricy but the ambiance is fun and is a great hang out place with friends. It does get a bit challenging to have conversations if you're seated in the section below the train station though. One of my best friends hosted my wedding shower here last weekend. I have nothing but the best to say about Homeslice and their amazing staff. We sat in the back patio, which was such a fun ambience, especially for bigger parties! I will say though, if you want to sit in the back patio, be prepared for intermittent loud train noises, as the train passes right over Homeslice! We didn't mind it though, because it was a casual get-together. The food itself was good. Not the best pizza I've had by any means, nor the best prices, but definitely worthy of it being called a pizza place. The crust is super crusty and has a lot of flavor. The bottom of my slices were a bit soggy though. I'm a vegetarian so I can only comment on the veggie options but I felt that there were plenty of options and different toppings! If you're looking for some great food, drink and cool atmosphere, Homeslice is your place!! We came here on a warm summer night and sat in the back patio area. The back (and the indoor part) is very decorated for your instagram/snapchat pleasure. The patio area does get pretty noisy as the L train passes right over it! If you prefer a "quieter" place, I recommend just staying in the spacious indoor area! I started off with the a-lotta-colada drink. OH EM GEE. This drink came in a golden PINEAPPLE!! It was one of the coolest drink containers I've ever seen! The amount of alcohol was SUPER worth it for the price you pay for! I highhhhhly recommend this for any pina colada lovers out there. We then shared two medium sized pizzas amongst 4 people. We ordered the Funky McChicken and the BMZ (Big Meaty Ziser). The Funky McChicken has got to be one of the BEST pizzas I've had in a while. It had chunks of roasted garlic that paired really well with the chicken. The crust was perfectly crispy. Ugh. Everything about this pizza was just perfection. I wasn't too impressed by the BMZ-- it honestly was like Costco's combo pizza. I will be coming back for more of their cool drinks and Funky McChicken pizzas!! read more
