This was our first visit to Comfort Kitchen. Fantastic food and service. We were quickly greeted and seated. Our server, Aidan, was delightful. He loves his job! We started with the French onion soup which was served piping hot in a soup crock and topped with cheese the way it should be! Hangar steak served with mashed potatoes (choices) and butternut squash and parsnips. We chose mushroom gravy as a sauce. There's a lot to see in this historic building. My wife and I have been to this small, cozy restaurant dozens of times. Very consistent in their offerings and quality. Good range of items on the menu with a daily dose of specials to keep it interesting. Tap beer lovers (like myself) will find 6-8 rotating beers including local options. I believe Guinness is a perpetual offering. The Thursday steak night special is our favorite. Go for the charm and food and reasonable pricing. read more

When i was eating the crab cake i swear i could smell the salt of the ocean at Hampton Beach . This is hidden gem for the area. Friendly and welcoming service. We arrived during the transition from breakfast to lunch and they gracefully allowed us to order from both menus. The French onion soup was well prepared. My Farmer's Salad (Caprese salad over a bed of mixed greens) with grilled chicken drizzle with balsamic reduction and honey was delicious and refreshing. Our companion liked Crab Eggs Benedict. The only thing that we were disappointed were the coconut chicken tenders. They were over cooked and burned. Sometimes, when a restaurant has been a restaurant has been a restaurant, you feel a little bit hesitant to come try the newest variant. Someone had heard that this newest place was rumored to be rather good ,so I took my mother here for Mother's Day. We were greeted with a pleasant hostess, and walked into a country kitchen-feeling dining room. There were lots of pictures of historical people and things on the wall. My mother's old physician was on the wall and she had some very funny stories. The cocktail menu was quite unique and we both found something different that we liked. They offered a reasonably priced Mother's Day dinner, but we were just getting lunch before going kayaking. Everything on the menu from appetizers to the sandwiches looked inspired by an actual chef, not a copycat trying to give you basics for a lunch menu. They had salmon skewers with mushrooms and tomatoes, they offered a broccoli cauliflower soup that was in a chicken stock rather than a cream base, and I had chicken meatballs in a delicious dill sauce with Parmesan.The desserts also looked wonderful but we had to keep moving. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you are looking for great service, friendly staff, appetizing choices, and especially, my favorite, yummy cocktails. We were one of the first people to be seated and the waitress gave us menus and said she would be back with water right away. We could hear her take 4 phone orders prior to coming back to take our order or give us water. We wouldn't have minded except it was muggy in the restaurant. We could hear her yelling "It's already starting!" several times-I'm not sure to who; Which if I were to hazard a guess meant that they were already getting busy. My husband and I both had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and summer squash medley. The meatloaf tasted as if they grilled it as part of the prep; like one side was crunchy. The mushroom gravy was heavy-handed being a bit over salty and tasted of an ill-attempted red wine reduction. Summer vegetables were very funky tasting and inedible. When we had asked if there were other vegetable sides, we were told with an eye roll "well that's all there is so I'm not going to change it to say something else". We let that go because we saw that she was really trying to get things going. I really wanted to like the food -but it was just okay. I think the real problem is the service. They were short at least 1-2 people. They had both indoor, outdoor tables and a bar being handled by 2 people. The final straw was the use of the f-bomb several times in the waitress prep section. Sound carries and we could hear all of it good and bad. We still tipped over 20% but we will not back. read more

Chef Daniels grits reminded me of the creamy polenta I enjoyed while living in Italy. Outside of Louisiana, Americans now seem to think Shrimp and Grits is a Cajun dish, it is not and thank you for not serving me salty, spicy grits. Chef Daniel's fruit de mer, was beautiful. I absolutely love this place. I always have a pleasant experience and a good meal. The prices you simply can't beat. The fish and chips is absolutely delicious, maybe my favorite around (not a heavy beer batter). The fried havarti cheese is a way better version of fried mozzarella. Love the chicken/spinach meatball app. They make their own dressings and the blue cheese and peppercorn dressings are great. Salmon BLT, meatloaf, potato crusted salmon, chicken cordon blue, Mac and cheese, grilled hanger steak... ALL really good! Drinks are great, a tiny bit pricy but doesn't mean they don't taste good. Desserts are good. They got rid of rolls with dinner which they should bring back. Every once in a while I get something that is mediocre but that's rare. Sometimes I get a little bummed when I order the bread pudding and it isn't warm, but that's minor. Also, keep in mind this isn't a fancy gourmet restaurant. It's a cute local restaurant with home cooked food that tastes good for a good price. I absolutely 100% recommend checking it out sometime! read more

This restaurant was a little gem! My husband and I went with a few friends and we all loved our meals! I had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection! For dessert I ordered the bread pudding and it was to die for...I'm a bread pudding lover! The woman that waited on us was super friendly and went out of her way to make sure that we had the best experience! The owner even stopped by to say hello, such a lovely touch! Went here over a year ago with my husband and we weren't satisfied with the food, gave a review about it and have now been harrassed to this day by the owner Mike Desmarais. He messages my husband on Facebook very late at night (2:30am) talking nonsense. This has happened multiple times and the fact that it's more than a year later and he still isnt over 1 bad review is ridiculous. He also asked my husband to remove the review on Google so now you only see the star rating and not the comment of why he had given it, so he did remove the comment in hopes the owner would stop harassing him. The service was fine, friendly staff but the food was gross. We would have given a 2nd chance but for the owner to harass us over a year later he doesnt deserve a second chance! Disgusting, embarrassing, unethical, borderline illegal, unprofessional and the list goes on. You'd be speechless with the things that he spews from his keyboard. My husband & I were happily surprised by the food here. He had the pork loin special which he was hesitant to order at first as so often pork loin can be dry. He asked the waitress about it who said lots of people love it so he gave it a chance. So glad he did! Not dry, delicious moist stuffing and the chef went out of their way to "stuff" the mashed potatoes at his request. Ample portions too! I had a Caesar salad with salmon and the salmon was perfectly prepared! Grilled, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. My only complaint was that the Parmesan on the salad did not appear to be fresh shaved. Was great otherwise. Wide bar selections and simple but lovely dessert menu. Wide menu selections also. After an incredibly stressful time at work, my husband and I decided to take today off and try to find some comfort and boy did we find it a Comfort Kitchen and Bar. We randomly stopped here today for lunch on our fall foliage drive. Our server was warm and welcoming to us and the food was delicious. We spend the next portion of our drive discussing the elegance of a perfectly prepared grilled cheese and hand cut fries. The sweet potato bisque was exceptional. Knowing this restaurant is sort of in "our back yard" we decided to drive to Huntington. Beautiful ride on Rte 20 and we were not disappointed. They offer Sunday dinners, essentially prix fixe with three courses. Good selection of apps and we enjoyed the fried cheese. Course 1 is soup or salad. My husband had tomato/chicken and I chose the onion (a slight upcharge) that was cheesy and well seasoned. GF was not an issue as my husband subbed fettuccini for the GF pasta in the shrimp scampi. I ordered the pork chop which was tender and cooked to perfection. The chimichurri on the chop was amazing especially because I'm a garlic lover! Had a chance to speak with the owner, a very nice guy actively monitoring satisfaction and hands on service with his staff. It looks like a great cocktail selection although I settled on a glass of Rodney Strong Merlot. I didn't notice if you can do a 6 or 9 oz. pour. Who cant drink more wine? We took our bread pudding to go as we were sufficiently stuffed from our meals. I would have given 5 stars but my charred broccoli arrived cold. It was quickly fixed and very tasty.
