We lucked onto this gem during our recent visit to Northampton after reading glowing Yelp reviews. The reviews didn't lie but none of the previous ones also had the experience enhanced by Annie, our stellar server. She could not have been better, from her attention to detail to the great recommendations she knocked it out of the park. As for the food, it exceeded expectations. We split the kale salad and Caesar salad because I wanted my BF's kale salad. We both ended up ordering the ricotta dumplings and I took a good portion back to the hotel for a midnight snack. My pictures include an empty plate. Out of curiosity I had Annie run through the dessert selections and, as a result, I might be headed back for dessert and a glass of Prosecco. 5 stars for the restaurant and another 5 for Annie. Tip: if the weather is smiling on you, grab a seat outside for people watching. Inside is a tad noisy.

    Burrata - Fall edition

What a delicious, fresh restaurant! The burrata was exceptionally well-balanced and tasted like Fall itself. The ricotta dumplings were unctuous and indulgent but in the most heavenly way. The only downside was the newly added bucatini, which was very salty and lacked depth. The service was a bit slow but our server was kind and gracious, especially when we relayed our review of the bucatini. Overall, you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the love cooked in. Would return and highly recommend! Reservations would be helpful as it was very busy even on a Sunday evening.

I love this restaurant. Every dish is perfectly executed and so balanced. The homemade pastas are my favorite, and I've loved every seafood dish I've gotten. We had the octopus appetizer tonight and it was so unbelievably tender. Really appreciate Mary's hospitality last time we went! Always such a lovely place to go for any occasion.

We came here for dinner before heading home to central MA. Unfortunately I wasn't too hungry, but when I tasted the pasta dish we had here I was blown away and we easily polished it off. The meatball was good but not extraordinary. The octopus and potato appetizer was yummy but you can't really screw octopus up. The rye mafalde was this beautiful vegetarian cacio e Pepe that blew our minds. We are the type to always get a pasta with meat or seafood. When our waiter recommended this dish, we weren't expecting that much. It was so incredibly tasty and everything including delicate texture of the pasta, the sweetness of corn and pea shoots, and the cheese and lemon harmonized well together. I would come back to Northampton for this dish. I so wish we had had room for dessert.

Just...wow. If you are in Northampton, in Western, MA, or even within a short plane ride of Homestead, you have to go. Likely the best meal I've had all year and a top 10 in my lifetime of (casual) New England foodie-ism. We didn't have Saturday night reservations but figured we might luck out by arriving shortly after they opened (around 5:20p). We were greeted by the host (and our server for the night) Cam who was an absolute ace. He was warm, helpful, and shared that while they were all booked with reservations, he could offer us two seats at the chef's table looking into the open kitchen. What a treat! The dining room ambiance seemed lovely and low-key, but I think we got the best seats in the house. The chefs were masterful--so much fun to watch and very gracious in our brief interactions. The drinks were top notch. I ordered the Feather Duster Crusta which was delicious and layered. My partner ordered the "Chai Noon" which was to-die-for--for cocktail fans, this drink is worth the visit alone. The body is fresh and fruity but topped with sweet and spicy chai foam(!!!). We'd never tried anything like it. A truly singular drink. We ordered the maple roasted squash tapa which was autumnally delicious. Our main courses were also superb: I ordered the best cacio e pepe I've ever had with sweet corn and pea sprouts. My partner got the confit duck leg with roasted apple, caramelized onion & fennel, farro, thyme, rosemary cider glaze. Our experience was made truly exceptional by Cam's charming, prompt service and the professionalism of every team member with whom we interacted from the front to the back of the house. We visit Northampton every year and Homestead will now be our only "must see" staple from here on out.

The small menu here may not reach out and grab you, but the food surely will. Some of the best food in western mass.

HOWEVER...I've been to Gigantic at least three times now and I have to admit that going out of your way is worth it. The drink list is not huge, but it's never boring, changes often enough to keep me interested, and I don't recall getting anything less than excellent. If they're willing to do a "bartender's choice" type thing (I haven't tried), I might have to go even more often. To address some of the things that others mentioned: Yes, it's small, but lots of good places are. Yes, the drinks take awhile, but I don't know of ANY high-end cocktail place that can cranks them out. Get over it and enjoy your time there. I've never experienced rude or pretentious (anymore than that are always is) service, but that would annoy me. The server/bartender has always been quite nice to my friends and me. I also checked out their list of vintage liquors last time I was there. I didn't try any (because money) but the fact that they have them at all is impressive.

What we did like was the old school music, vintage feel that took on the vibes of an antique shop (it was fun to look around), and the intimate setting. The cocktails were really good and creative with a menu that updates frequently and featured some classics as well. The cocktails were a bit pricey for what you got and for the area, the snack options were very limited and overpriced, and service was very slow despite few people being in the bar. We had to ask to be served and waited over 15 minutes for the check. We are glad we checked out Gigantic and would not recommend going out of your way for it as there are other great cocktail bars in neighboring towns.

I've tried the seasonal cocktails in 3 seasons and so far, always great. Re: food - my favorites are the Waygu burger at the bar, and the seared scallops over risotto. The asparagus appetizer is also good. Only food that I've not enjoyed is the creme brûlée. Felt like it came from GFS and was just carmelized on site. Two thumbs down on that one. Not many people in the place for dinner time, but it is a large dining area; very pretty inside. From there, not much to brag about. Service was non-existent. Either flagging out waiter down, or never seeing anyone in the dining area. Started with the crab cake, which was done with claw meat and not lumb crab. Very little taste...maybe from being overcooked? Looked and tasted more like a mackerel patty. Also had the carpaccio, which was cut super thin, and probably about an ounce of meat...again, no flavor at all. For the main meal, my wife had the salmon and I had the filet. I lump these together, since the thought is the same. Overcooked and lacking flavor. Mine was supposed to be medium, but was very close to well done with no juice or color left in the steak. I would have sent it back, but no one came anywhere near our table for at least 10-15 minutes since the entrees were served. I had one cocktail...would have had at least one more if anyone would have come by the table again. Pretty place, but there has to be better places for a nice meal close by.
