As a New Yorker, I will say, I had limited expectations for a North Hampton restaurant. Visiting 5 star Michelin restaurants each week, I didn't have much faith this place could hold up but it did! I came here on my first of 3 nights in north Hampton as we had a wedding and was completely blown away. The atmosphere is perfectly quaint, but has a great buzz about the place, with a full bar and what looked like amazing cocktails (I had a glass of wine, so can't comment here). I was greeted by our waitress and quickly ordered the Kale salad and Polipo which were two of the top dishes I've had in some time. The kale was perfectly crisp but provided a bitter texture while being balanced with the hazelnuts. A unique addition I've yet to see before. As for the Polipo, it's an exquisite perfectly cooked piece of octopus accompanied by some lentils that represent caviar and are spectacular. I finished my night with a glass of wine, but knew I needed to come back here for more,, so I made a reservation for my only other night out in the area. I was excited to be greeted by the friendly staff and take in the environment of the restaurant and was seated on the back patio which was perfectly quaint and accompanied by a tomato bush. I had the kale salad (again) the focaccia which was very fluffy, and the chicken. The chicken with parsnip and a parsnip purée was one of the best I've ever had! It could truly competed with the chicken at Nomad in NYC which charges $75 per person. To finish the night there was a chocolate salted mouse which was out of this world. I truly hope the chef of homestead takes his talent to NYC and joins the ranks of the top restaurants in the world. read more

Second time coming into Homestead- this time for our anniversary. Homestead is definitely a special occasion restaurant for us, as the ambiance is nice, but the bill can add up quick, even without alcohol. We started with the whipped ricotta, which is a must order here. We also ordered a Shirley Temple, which was a deep purple, so that was delicious but a bit perplexing. The cherry was so good in this ST. I ordered the Mafalde, and my wife ordered the Rigatoni. I loved the Mafalde it had a light corny taste, almost like a salad. The Rigatoni was okay, but did not have a lot of flavor. This place is still a great spot when looking for somewhere a little more upscale to dine in Noho. P.S. Bring back the bucatini. read more

Visited for the first time with my boyfriend and it was amazing! Jeremy and his staff are killing it in the kitchen and Emily is running front of house beautifully. I'd say make a reservation because it was below zero last night and the place was packed! Everything was so good including the drinks but I'm definitely doing the pasta and octopus next time and I hope the tiramisu is officially on the menu and no longer a special. We had had the most amazing meal last night with two other couples! We tried 5 or 6 small plates (ricotta, burrata, olives, butcher steak, kale salad, squash!), two or three entrees (whole fish, pork) and a smattering of desserts (cookies, chocolate pudding, tiramisu). This place is the BEST for sharing food; everything was incredibly delicious and fun. Our server was sweet, smart, attentive, and quick and helpful in answering questions! I don't eat flour or sugar, and I found it really easy to navigate their menu. I was also able to adjust cocktails to be sugar free. They also make their own homemade pasta! This is the kind of Italian restaurant where people who love meat, vegetarians, and people with dietary restrictions could dine out with ease! Top notch restaurant experience! read more

We moved out of the area a couple years ago but always make a point to eat at Homestead. anytime we are in town. The food is always outstanding and the service never disappoints. The cocktail program is outstanding we love the espresso martini and vodka gimlets. You must try the Mafalde which is an elevated mac and cheese! Our waiter Steven made a great recommendation to add pancetta! Also don't forget to try the tiramisu! One of the best I've had! read more

Ok, so I really wanted to give this a 5-star review for their food and cocktails, but a few things to improve on. First, the ambiance was nice, but a bit bright for me. When you go out to dinner with your loved one at a nice restaurant you look for a romantic/ambient feel, and this certainly was missing here. Second, service could have been better. Granted, being a former server for 20+ years and knowing restaurants are struggling now, but I had to chase my server down a few times to get her attention. I don't blame her, I blame the help from other staff and management. A ton of space with both indoor and outdoor seating. We decided to choose inside. We started off with a few cocktails and their focaccia. Both were amazing! We also shared their whipped ricotta, which was also delicious and very, very fresh. When you look on their website they mention "hand-made pastas, and local rustic Italian food." You don't find many of these upscale restaurants in this area but I'm glad to have found this one. Some of the finer restaurants are either closed permanently or have selected hours. For entrees, my husband had their bucatini and I had their gnocchi. You can really taste the quality of their pastas. The portions were a bit smaller compared to others, but great that we could share everything and very reasonably priced (when you are from Boston...everything is pricey). I am so happy that we had a chance to dine here and I know I would love to return at a later date. Be sure to check them out, they are worth a visit! read more

$17 for a couple of slices of cucumber and a few cherry tomatoes. Ladies and gentlemen, that is your smashed cucumber salad. The balls it must take to serve such a diminutive bowl with a straight face. Seriously, FU for that. The dining room is poorly decorated with mismatched tag sale chairs. No candles. Dingy old prints on the wall. No style or flair. Loud as hell. If you're going to F me at least give me a reach around. The one cocktail I tried, ordered by my companion, had far too much lime and was too warm. It was like drinking straight up lime juice at room temperature. For this they charged $14. I'm surprised she finished it. The much hyped ricotta dumplings - a stingy serving for $19 - were decent and the rapini pesto was alright. The spicy sausage was mostly MIA and when the small scrap was found, proved unremarkable. Our server was attentive if a bit too eager to remove plates that had food still on them. I'm sorry, friend, but at these prices with these small portions, I'm licking the plate. Whether I like it or not. So give me some time please. read more

I came here on my birthday, looking to treat myself and my wonderful friend and boyfriend to a delicious and expensive meal, which I hardly ever do. After looking at the menu online and hearing it was good, I figured it was going to be amazing. It was mediocre at best. I got the meatballs and a mocktail to start. While my friend got the olives. It was all good, but not great. The mocktail was even average, and this is something that matters to me since I don't drink at all. I want a nice drink. I shouldn't be sacrificing taste or quality just because there's no alcohol in it. Not what you would expect from a restaurant like this. I didn't really know what to get from the menu because I couldn't really understand the menu, which is no one's fault but my own. I still figured the ricotta dumplings sounded good and so I ordered that. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and my friend got a salad and the meatballs. The dumplings were ok. The dumplings themselves tasted good, but the sauce that came in them had way too much pesto and pine nuts. The flavors just didn't match up together. I was very disappointed. My friends salad was also very average. We both thought the meatballs were good, but they weren't fantastic. I expect to be salivating at how good the food is when I come to a restaurant like this. My food did not have that effect or even come close. I will say the chicken was close to perfection. Very moist and a good size portion for what you pay. It was actually very good and I know my boyfriend enjoyed it. He also got a cocktail that he really liked. Overall I just think the quality of the food was average. It wasn't worth the ~$200 I paid for the check. I was pretty disappointed and I won't be coming back. read more

Perfectly OK dining experience. Indoors with Covid and all. Cocktail was pretty interesting, a whisky sour essentially with some flemmish ale floated on top. Would have liked a stronger whiskey flavor but I like the booze forward cocktails. GF had a mocktail that was SUPER sweet. I think they just removed the booze from one of the cocktails and expected it to balance the same way, it didn't. Charred snap peas and the fancy chocolate pudding were fantastic! Salad and pastas were just OK, seemed to lack something to make them really stand out. Overall the food was good but for the price was hoping for something to wow me a little more. Server was excitable and friendly but the meal flew by. Not sure if we ate fast or if they were just moving people through but we finished in an hour... which ended up being fine because for some reason near the end of the meal the AC started to blast directly on our table (it was 48 degrees out, please no AC!) We didn't mention it though since we were about to leave, so no points off there. Homestead was solid, I probably wouldn't go back simply because the quality compared to the price but maybe we just had an off night? read more

Walked in out of the blue and sat at the bar after a recommendation from a brewery employee elsewhere. Sam was our bartender and she was awesome! Helped us picked the perfect food & drink & never seemed inconvenienced, despite a busy bar. She was happy to help and was genuinely engaged in our experience. Had Sam been the end of the goodness, we would have been thrilled. But both the drinks and the food were awesome. We got meatballs and focaccia to start and then 2 pasta dishes. We seriously considered coming here 2 nights in a row but opted to try more of what Northampton has to offer. But honestly, do not skip this place. Delicious! Hearty dishes in great serving sizes - sizable enough to take leftovers home but you could also finish the dish if you have an appetite. The bolognese was a touch salty but still delicious. Ravioli was a favorite for our table. My family had such a fantastic experience at Homestead on a busy Saturday night. The service was exceptional. Decor was very nice in a tasteful and cozy way. The restaurant is on the noisier side so be prepared to talk very loudly and lean in to hear your companions. Still we had a wonderful evening and ate almost every bite of appetizer, dinner, AND dessert. Would love to give it 4.5 stars. read more

We started the night with the supposed hostess telling us we couldn't have the table we wanted because they only were able to accommodate three at that table. However there were four chairs with settings for four. When we were leaving she sat four people there. Maybe we weren't young enough for the front window. The food was boring at best. We wanted an out of the way table so we could talk. The hard surfaces created so much noise we could barely hear each other. The martinis were small and warm. Meatballs boring with acidic sauce. The pasta was dry and not worth the money we paid for it. I would not recommend this place. read more

Recommended by a friend who said it was one of the very best in town. My wife and I went and couldn't have had a much worse experience. The first issue was the noise. The acoustics create the noisiest place in town. The waiter, who was very good, had to practically yell to be heard. I ordered maybe the only dish in the menu with steak- (flank maybe, which I thought was an odd choice). While very flavorful, the meat was tough and stringy. I couldn't eat it. My wife's meatless pasta dish was a better choice, but not remarkable. We got the check as soon as we could, and got out of the noisiest restaurant in town. We won't be returning. Well-done hand-made pastas and interesting appetizers. Homestead has a nice vibe to it, young and trendy feel, but also laidback and rustic. The crowd this past Saturday evening was a mix of college-aged kids as well as silver-haired boomers and in-between. (Probably explained the hipster wait-staff but also the 70/80's soundtrack!) We started off with appetizers of their charred sweet peas-in-the-pod which had a nice smoky flavor; a confit-prepared octopus that was very tender; and a burrata garnished with a mint pesto and fat sweet peas - excellent complements to the creamy cheese. We shared a few pasta dishes: a bucatini bolognese (which was good enough that we ordered a repeat of this); duck breast ravioli which was soft and luscious; a very good Jonah crab meat carbonara; and a terrific mushroom risotto, winy and earthy. Our only complaint was that there wasn't any good crusty bread to sop up all the leftover sauces! The pastas were perfectly al dente; the sauces were generally quite good but a tad on the salty side. Desserts were also good overall - we had the chocolate ricotta pie (the best of the bunch we ordered, rich and decadent); the vanilla creme brulee (quite good as well, but the custard was on the cold side); and the carrot cake which had nice flavors and not overwhelmed with cinnamon - but on the dry side, however. None were overly sweet, just right for our palates and went well with their good strong coffee. Prices were reasonable and wait-staff provide excellent service. read more

The menu options are very limited, unless you eat veal or octopus or pork. There are no dishes with beans or fish (except for one trout dish ruined by an awful sauce). The few vegetarian options are heavy with cheese or oil. the pasta dish I had was described as spaghetti with peas and peppers but that is misadvertizing. in fact it was just a mound of white pasta with almost no peas or peppers to be found. It is a rip off with terrible service. first time here we were the only ones in the place and had a good experience despite a very tough steak... everything else was good that times so I let it slide. last night had a HORRIBLE experience - we ordered meatballs which were served cold for some reason, we then waited 30 minutes for the small plate duck which was unnecessarily cooked in gross oil and underseasonned... we waited again for a very long time, we were not brought bread, we were not asked how anything was - when the mains finally came one of them was wrong so we had to send it back... waiting again for a very long time and eventually cancelling the order. The whole point of a place like this is that it should be relaxed, comfortable and even spoiling... So you can focus on and enjoy the unique food...instead there were way too many servers running around killing the atmosphere - for just a few parties this made no sense at all... very strange. When we sent the plate back the server just ran off - not asking if we want to replace it, cancel it etc... When I cancelled the order I was met with a nasty look from one of the cooks and general rudeness... I will not be back. read more

We had a fantastic meal at Homestead. Berthing was excellent. The whipped ricotta starter was so good I would have eaten it as a main course and dessert. We also had a pleasantly tangy black kale salad. For entrees we had the Ricotta Dumplings and the pasta with pancetta. Both excellent. Dessert was delicious, chocolate custard and an olive oil cake with native strawberries. I'm late to post this review, but wow what an experience. We came here for a special dinner while visiting Northampton for my birthday. The food was OUTSTANDING, but the experience was what really made it special. Our server was great: super informative, helpful, and honest- just what we like. I'm still thinking about the whole dinner months later, and will actually be returning for another special occasion. If you don't like a dinner experience that is centered around grazing and enjoying your food whenever it arrives, much like Spanish tapas, then this might not be the dinner experience you want. Lats night, in a fit of spontaneity, we went to Homestead for dinner. We had the cod with a creamy poblano sauce with corn and the panzanela heirloom tomato salad. Both dishes were fantastic. Fresh. Flavorful. Yummmmmmy. service was good. The drink menu was interesting but I had a fresh limeade and my wife had an Italian soda. We got here fairly early on a Sunday evening and asked for a table for two. We didn't have a reservation, and we were told we could sit at the bar or in the window. We chose the bar and figured we would have a cocktail and see where it would go. The cocktails were great, and Tony our bartender, was knowledgeable and friendly, making the experience very enjoyable. I was a pain asking him questions about their cocktails, and he enthusiastically provided details. Then, based on the cocktails, we decided to try the house made focaccia, which also was a winner. We then shared their Roasted Squash small plate and the Rigatoni Bolognese (quite large plate) with a lovely glass of Sangiovese. This was my first time at Homestead. My friends and I really liked the atmosphere and outdoor patio area. The house-made focaccia was incredible, and the spaghetti was great and a good portion size. We ended the meal with the salted chocolate budino which was really rich and filling. The hotel nearby recommended this spot and I'm glad they did! It didn't come up on the local "dinner" search but it's right off Main Street with locally sourced and seasonal plates. Mostly Italian with fresh handmade pasta, yummy salads and a great friendly staff. I had the rosemary focaccia and rigatoni bolognese. You can taste the love that went into this pasta and sauce! Had the tastiest family meal here recently! The burrata appetizer was great, and I'd recommend every one of the pastas, especially the bolognese. Also loved the dessert selection.
