We are in the process of purchasing a home. My agent recommended this team of experts, among others. I was skeptical, at first, I wanted to use a company that I was familiar with but I went ahead and did research on this team. From the time that I called and spoke with Ericka, I was happy that I reached out to them. Ericka was personable and patient - I called a few times with questions and scheduling concerns. I was able to get the day and time that I wanted with no issues. The email reminder for payment and the upcoming appointment were great. On the day of the inspection, I pulled up to the home and Patrick and Anthony were there waiting. I was happy that they were there and they were on time. Patrick and Anthony (and the WDI inspector) were kind and available during the inspection to answer and ALL questions that I had and pointed out things that needed to be taken care of. The report that we received was very detailed and I received it later the same-day. The price was competitive and fair. I had/have one issue and that was with my credit card being double charged when I made the payment online. I will be reaching out to my bank to get that taken care of. I relocated from IL to MD and this company was highly recommended by my realtor; I relied on their expertise and moved forward with the purchase. Fast forward 9 months and Terminix goes into my attic space to inspect only to be informed that there are dried rodent droppings present. I am now having someone clean out the attic space and they have discovered three dead rodents in the space. When the dropping was first discovered, I called Home Team to review the photos of the inspection only to be told that they did not know what it was ...... deny deny deny!! disappointed and would not recommend. If you do use them, I suggest following the inspector into every crawl space. read more

The Service: I was getting a 1 level basement condo inspected. Patrick and his team did a great job at servicing the area. He pointed out and broke down serious to minor issues. He helped me understand what needed to be fixed and who to contact to fix it. My basement unit had a leaking problem that Patrick suggested a waterproofer for, which ultimately lead to me not going with the house. I do wish he would include cost estimates in his assessment, which I have seen in other home inspection forms. However, being a first time homebuyer, I had a great experience with hometeam inspection! The Wait/Price: Patrick and his team showed up and started working before I got to the house. The inspection was thorough and took about an hour for a small space. His explanation was quick and informative. I was able to inspect the basement for $350, which included termite inspection. This company did a structural and mechanical inspection on a condo my husband and I were purchasing. They did a detailed and complete job, provided the written report the same day and the cost was better (lower) than most inspection prices. They sent two inspectors to perform the assessment - never had this before... most companies send one inspector. read more

Stay away from these people if you ever need an inspection service. The report they provide is has some lies to say the least. From the basement you can see the water pipes that run through out the house, it is PVC, they said it's copper piping on the report. From the basement you can see water leaking marks coming from the kitchen. That was not mention in the report. We moved in the house 3 days after closing and the kitchen sink drain pipes are flooding the kitchen. There are more things mentioned in the reports that is a flat out lie. read more

I would not recommend Home Team Inspection for any type of inspection in the Maryland area. First, after initially determining there was no heat source present in the living room, they had to send me an updated addendum eliminating this part of the report after re-checking and concluding it is present. Second, they failed to identify that the HVAC system doesn't provide air conditioning to the basement since the duct-work only covers the first floor of the house. When purchasing a house, I would highly recommend using an inspector that friends and colleagues can vouch for, and don't just depend on your realtor. read more

We've bought and sold many homes/condos and this was truly the worst inspection we have ever received. The inspector missed many basic items and did not go in the attic because he claimed he could not find it....it is no more than 10 steps from our door. The inspector missed no GFI outlets in the bathrooms (they were in the kitchen but not the bathrooms). Both toilets were leaking. Three of the faucets in the condo leaked. The AC and furnace had not been serviced in 8 years! The thermostat was from the 1970's and contained mercury. The deadbolt did not work on the front door. I've written to the company directly about the poor quality of this inspection and their response was "please contact us to discuss this further". Horrible customer service. read more

Home buyer BEWARE of this company. I closed escrow on a house that they were entrusted to inspect. Although they had findings all over the exterior of the house they COMPLETELY FAILED the critical areas of plumbing and leaks. When I pulled up the laminate floors there was black mold in the underlayment in every room in the living room the floor was actually sopping wet. That isnt the worst part--the mold and wetness was coming from cracked cast-iron pipes that were 98% clogged with sludge and years of hair and buildup. The contractor said that if the inspector had simply used a moisture meter I would have been able to order more investigative testing. But now I am having to bring lawsuits and make insurance claims. The estimate to clean the lines, epoxy them and restore the foundation slab that had to be jackhammered out was around $20,000.00. On top of this, I have to rent a place to live on top of making mortgage payments. Do not use them! read more

Garritt, Roman and Steve conducted a pre-purchase inspection for me this morning. I've had inspectors talk down to me (much like auto mechanics), but Garritt was thorough and explained every item they found to me in non-technical terms until I felt satisfied that I understood what the problem was, why it was a problem, and what it would likely take to fix it. I was impressed with their level of respect for the property: they wore cloth covers on their shoes and they were careful to leave the home in the same condition they found it. They also flagged issue areas with blue tape, a bit of thoughtfulness in terms of giving the homeowner a heads up regarding areas requiring attention. I have not yet received the written report so if there is anything worth mentioning once I have that, I'll amend this review, but as things stand right now, I was very pleased with the team's demeanor, courtesy, and the level of detail with which they inspected the property. HomeTeam was recommended to my wife and I by our real estate agent and we are very satisfied with their service. I showed up about 15 minutes late to the appointment (sorry guys) and found three inspectors waiting for me. As soon as the door was open they flew into action - each inspector taking a different floor. Towards the end I was led through some of the most significant issues and given a detailed explanation of the home's mechanicals and maintenance tips. Shortly after, I received the full inspection report via e-mail and was very impressed at the attention to detail these guys demonstrated; they caught things I doubt I would've noticed after years of living there. This is my first home purchase and the impression I got of home inspections is it could be a little pricey and would take 2+ hours. The price was good and these guys were in and out in less than an hour. Of course the time spent depends on the home; mine is less than 10 years old and not that big. They were fast and efficient and very nice. They have 2 guys doing the home inspection and another guy that comes to do the pest inspection. I haven't experienced other inspections but we keep finding problems with the house they inspected. I understand they take no responsibility in the end but there was plumbing and electrical work not done right and it was overlooked during inspection. Danny Blankenship from Home Team Inspections in Ocala Florida missed several safety and functional issues in our home. Exposed live electrical wiring, broken gutters, missing electrical box coverplates, and more. He never went in attic. We had to hire another home inspector to uncover these missed items. BEWARE!!! An inspection was done on my home and in the report it was stated that the furnace and thermostat were functioning properly. Yet, the first time that I attempted to turn on the heater in my home since the inspection, the furnace would not turn on. The furnace guy that came out to repair it stated that the thermostat was not wired correctly to the furnace and thereby not controlling the turn on and off of the furnace. He had to trace the wire and rewire the thermostat in order for the furnace to "function properly". Therefore, there is no way that this was checked during the home inspection as stated in the report. When I spoke to the owner, he made excuses and disregarded the blatant error and mistake. I doubt the entire home inspection report and don't believe in the quality of work. read more
