Im not sure why this place received bad reviews. My husband and I stopped here before getting back onto the road. We both decided to get whole wheat breakfast wraps. Wow, they were absolutely amazing and very delicious. Everything tasted homemade as well. The prices were a tad bit high, but it's the times that we are in now , I understand that. My husband also picked up homemade chocolate chip cookies they were on the hard side , they were chewy and delicious. Overall, I would highly recommend coming here and checking them out. read more

This place was good then bad but now it good again. Meatball hero's are my favorite. Quick turnaround time and the place is very clean.

This place has some amazing food. Their BEC is without compare. Besides 2 eggs in it, there's enough bacon for another sandwich. Never over cooked and dry. They are also a small grocery store and newspaper stand. That they are off the beaten path, covid didn't close them down they way it did to places in the malls. Although I'm from out of state, I was raised in the City. A family member tells me this deli is good. I passed by it before, and although it looks like it needs some updating, she treated me to the Boar's Head roast beef sandwich here. Although it was rare, the sandwich was overly chewy than how I remembered it should be. I guess you can order it how well done you want it, and I broiled it extra at home. The kraut and mustard tasted good, but needed more for my taste. This was the thinnest RB sandwich I was ver had. I hope she didn't pay too much for it. Overall it wasn't a bad experience. I finally found the perfect home fries. The ladies who run the kitchen know their stuff!! While all the food is delicious, the home fries truly hit the spot!! Convenient shop to grab a bite to eat. You can order pretty much everything from the deli and they seem to have a nice range of menu options to guide your decision. It does not look and feel the cleanest, but the food I have had has tasted good and I have not had any sanitary issues. Well, had to make a trip back to Fishkill to drop my father in-law off after a having a great visit with us out in Chicago. Hometown Deli was part of my regular morning stops for breakfast back in the day when I lived in Fishkill. I was so excited that the Marinaccio's had taken over again. Before my 14 hour drive back to Chicago, I stopped by to pick up 2 Bacon Egg & Cheese Sandwiches for the road! Yes they had SPK on them as well. Just what this native NewYorker needed for my drive, I really think I could have eaten at least 6 along the way, cause they are that good!!! I gave Hometown a horrible review after the first time I went there. They screwed up my order and let's just say I may have been slightly hung over and ornery the morning after my sister's wedding. Secretly I enjoyed the breakfast I was given even though it wasn't close to the correct order. Quietly I savored every bite of a sandwich I had no business bringing home. And to be completely honest I went back not once; not twice; but three times since the original one star review. The fact of the matter is all delis are going to screw up an order from time to time. Maybe you can't judge a book by its cover and shame them because of one bad experience. Truth be told, they have some of the finest breakfast sandwiches I can find in Dutchess County. I just left the hometown deli. I will be going back only one more time to speak to the owner about the behavior of one of his employees. This man was making my sandwich (that one of his awesomely pleasant coworkers recommended. This woman knew exactly what I wanted somehow, even though when another customer asked her for help she said she did not work there...) and I witnessed him cut a few pieces of lettuce, put two on my sandwich and put one in his mouth with his gloved hand. I immediately asked him about it and this guy flew of the handle. He started yelling at me in front of all the other customers and came out from behind the counter screaming and spitting out the lettuce in his mouth all over the floor and got within a couple inches of my face, still spitting and screaming about how I called him out. All in front of a handful of customers. I asked for the owner and this guy told me the owner is dead... I have been eating at this deli for years and have never had an experience like this, but people need to hear about this kind of aggressive behavior and clear violations of health code. Since moving from the city I have been searching without luck for the perfect diner.... WELL I HAVE FOUND IT!!! OMG I got the western omelette platter which is supposed to come with ham, home fries and toast, I don't eat pork so this usually means an extra minimum $3 from anywhere I have ordered from WELL NOT HERE! No extra charge they simply asked me what I wanted (had the pastrami). The food is delivered in a crazy rain storm, hot and quickly. There was so much food that it was more like 3 people could have eaten, the presentation was beautiful and the best part no need to add any seasoning.. BEST FOOD SO GLAD TO HAVE FOUND THEM!!! read more
