I just received a great Christmas gift--the gift of sight--and it's all thanks to our wonderful…read moreoptometrist, Dr. Schwartz, at Albertville eye care! Last November, during my annual eye exam, he caught a microscopic abnormality in my left optic nerve--before he had even dilated my eyes. After months of tests and ruling out other things, the doctors at the U of M determined that it's an optic nerve sheath meningioma (tumor). Thanks to Dr. Schwartz's expertise, it was caught before any vision loss (the doctors were shocked as it's rarely detected before the patient has symptoms). After radiation treatments and my follow-up MRI yesterday, I am so thankful that the tumor shrank a little and I only have very minor vision loss. This would not have been possible without Dr. Schwartz and I will never be able to thank him enough for blessing our family with not only top-notch, hometown care, but for saving my eyesight (and more). While I didn't plan to share this much on a public page, I couldn't explain how awesome Dr. Schwartz is without sharing some of my experience. I highly recommend him, as does our whole family. Thank you so much, Dr. Schwartz! :) I posted this review on some other local pages last November about my visit then: "It's so wonderful to be able to get top-notch care without leaving the STMA community. I ended up having to pay full price for the single vision and not refunded any money. I was told I could pick up some readers from WalMart for $20. I asked if they had readers there and was told yes but I would still have to pay full price on those and couldn't get a price break.
