Convenient little shop with everything you may need! My boyfriend lives a block from hometown liquor and frequents this place. So many times we have needed something quick- a toothbrush, roll of paper towels, bread, some soda, a snack, etc, and we always go to hometown liquor. For being such a small shop they have pretty much everything under the sun. Their wine and beer selection is pretty impressive and pretty much what you'd see in any grocery store. I won't be going in this place anymore. I've stopped by 4 or 5 times (like if I want a lotto ticket or some water) since I work nearby. The customer service is a joke. The guy behind the counter with the long hair is so rude. He never greets me, barely looks my way. He usually just says the cost of what I buy and that's it. Oh! BEST OF ALL he also likes to drop my change in my hand from a very high distance. Like, really? That money you're touching is dirtier than my hand. I'm not sure if it's because I'm black or if he likes to treat everyone like a giant germ. If I need a beverage, lotto ticket, or whatever I'll just go to 7-Eleven (which I hate because it's a large chain). I usually like to support small businesses. The liquor store on Center Street is a nice alternative too and staffed by kind and helpful people. read more

This store is fondly nicknamed "Corner Market" by many Gundo locals. You would be surprised other than their copious amounts of liquor, beer and wine. For example, one day I needed to make jello shots. I ordered cups on Amazon and they didn't arrive in time. I called Hometown market (that's my nickname for them!) and I asked if they had jello shot cups. Well, turns out they did. Saved me a trip around the South Bay during the holiday season! They also carry groceries including dairy and produce. You can always call ahead to save yourself a trip. Definitely support this local business. We don't want it to leave us! read more

My husband and I LOVE this store. It's a convenience store with class and heart. Not only is it beautifully designed and stocked with the finest of wines and cigars (includes a large, walk-in cedar humidor), but you can also get anything that would be available at a chain convenience store, but at a better price. My 12 year old picked out a Perrier and bag of cookies. The bottle slipped out of his hand and broke at the cooler. Alberto the cashier quickly told him " you are paying for that". Not knowing how to handle, he paid $2 for the accident. He walked to the park and told me what happened. I walked to the store and asked Alberto if that was the policy of the store. He assured me the owner makes him charge people for accidents like I described. I asked for the owners number so I could ask him. He refused and told me he doesn't have his number. I won't be returning and I will make sure other teams that play at the park are aware of how this store treats its customers. read more
