Went to rent scaffolding from Home Depot and surprise!! They threw all their stuff out and had nothing for rent! Luckily we did a google search and found this great spot! If you're in need for equipment or party rentals they have a very large stock for you to choose from plus their prices are so much better than Lowe's or Home Depot. The employees are so nice and well mannered, seems like a family owned business. They assisted loading & unloading everything carefully from my hubby's new truck. Like the others I usually don't leave reviews, I rented some hundred diner plates at Hometown Rental, they told me i don't have to wash the plates before i return it just us long that's no food like big steak and chicken so i wiped all the plates. But they charge me $50.00 for not washing the plates. Don't rent to place. read more

I usually do not leave reviews, even with a bad experience, but I felt I had to share my experience with Hometown Rentals. They do have pretty decent rates compared to competitors in the area, but that is the only decent thing I can say about them, and even then like others have said, their delivery fee is ridiculous. To start, top to bottom everyone I came in contact with was very rude and clearly doesn't care about customer service and all seem like they hate their jobs. After setting up the tent, they left the 8 tables and 35 chairs and table cloths in our backyard and were about to leave when I asked if they were going to also set those up. The delivery guy snapped and me and said that's not included in their ridiculous delivery fee. Fine I am ok with that, but didn't think I needed to be given attitude for a simple question. We rented some easels, and one was missing a clip needed to hold the frame we made. I called the office and instantly knew this was not going to go well. The guy who answered again was very rude off the bat. He told me I needed to come to the office to get a new rental, and when I said we don't have time as we are setting up the event, he got more rude and blew me off. If you're charging that much for delivery, I at least expect everything to be delivered correctly and for you to correct your own mistakes. He eventually agreed to have someone drop off a new one "after hours" which seemed to piss him off. Then when discussing the pickup, I called to confirm when they would arrive as no one would be home for a good portion of the day. Again the same guy gave me a lot of crap even asking when they would come and that they could only come at a specific time. I literally had to tell him to relax on the phone, I just wanted to know what time they were coming. My biggest gripe though, was the absolute crap quality of their rentals. I posted pictures of the tent, which looked filthy and we all, including my guests, felt gross just sitting under the tent. Who wants to look up and see all that grime on there? Unacceptable. Also, the tables they provided all showed signs of severe water damage. They were all very wobbly and distorted, and they literally used duct tape to tape the tables back together. WTF? All in all, spend the extra $ using another local company, we've used a big one in the area before and everything was pristine quality and they didn't chew my ass out every time I asked a simple question. Yeah I was at the same wedding that patio heater exploded. It was bad. I work for a warehouse safety department and the condition of those heaters were bad. I literally had my kids and family move to another table away from the heaters. Legit feared another one was gonna blow up too. I hate seeing this kind of poor display of peoples safety. Rental prices are very comparable to most places in the area. I have rented from home town rentals a few times in the past. I was looking to renting tables and chairs for an event I'm having in November for my daughter's baby shower, but the $75 delivery fee is high considering they're literally going 1 mile from their shop four minutes away. I asked the manager if he would be willing to work with me on the delivery fee but he said with the price of gas and because he'd have to put two guys in the truck it's $75. Honestly they wouldn't even use 1 gallon of gas to deliver and pick up these chairs from me. The guys that would deliver are on payroll so I don't understand how that would warrant extra pay. Cricket Party Rentals in Alhambra will deliver and pick up for a total of $40. It's unfortunate that I will have to use them when I try to keep business in my area. If you want your appliances to not work and to CATCH FIRE, then this place is for you. My husband and I recently had our wedding and we ordered 4 outdoor heaters. During the reception 2 out of the 4 heaters did not work. One even caught on fire! Literally, and we have video, our guests had to quickly jump up and turn off the gas. It's unfortunate because they were super helpful during the booking and delivery process, but as soon as my husband informed them about what happened they assumed that we didn't know what we were doing. They asked if we turned the gas on first and if we know how to work the heaters, which we own 2 other heaters ourselves so of course we know how to work them. They gave my husband a hard time when he asked for money back for the 2 heaters that did not work. They're response was, "we're only returning the money for the one that caught fire. The other worked when we tried it." So I'm assuming they turned it on and thats it? Which is ridiculous because it would not stay on the whole night. Super unprofessional, they obviously don't care about customer service, and they clearly don't care about customer safety. Never again. I'm making sure to tell everyone that we know who lives in our neighborhood to never rent there. read more

I needed to rent some chairs, a podium and a PA system for my husband's memorial service a few months ago. After calling around, they provided the best price, the best customer service, were most accommodating, and incredibly helpful. At best, you want to maybe plan one memorial. This was my first, and hopefully the last, but they made it relatively easy. Even at (nearly) the last minute they were willing to make changes and rearrange a few things. I'm knocking off one star for the product quality. The dance floor I rented broke apart within an hour of use. We didn't notice (it was dark) til one of the kids rolled their ankle in the space where it broke. I mentioned it to the guys when they picked it up and the identified where it came apart and told me "some of our equipment needs to be updated". If you know it's outdated, it shouldn't go to someone's home. Thankfully no one was hurt worse. Just make sure to ask them to provide something newer if possible or fully inspect it before putting it together. read more

Delivered my tables and chairs and said the linen would be coming a bit later in the day. No problem except later that day I had no linen, no phone call and no return email to simply explain they were behind. What choice did we have but to be waiting for them to open the doors the next day at 7am. The apology which I had to still call later to receive was "Sorry we were busy and you got your linen so...?" Well I was "busy" too setting up for a funeral gathering at my home. I understand things happen, as I too work in the industry of Customer service. How we choose to handle ourselves when mistakes happen is to take ownership and do right by our Guests. We do not tell our Guests, sorry we were busy. Take a lesson in customer service and do not take on more business than you can handle or you will find yourself short on business to handle. The tables and chairs were nice, the linen clean and pressed. Just be cautious when booking and make sure you know what time they close so you don't call 8 minutes after they close when you are looking for your missing delivery items. read more

My bestie used this company to rent patio heaters for there wedding. Don't do that. There equipment is old and faulty. One of the patio heaters spontaneously caught on fire. One worked and smelled like propane all night. And a 3rd heater never worked from the start. The one that caught fire almost burned my wife's hair as well as another guest of the wedding. Luckily we were able to shut off the propane and nobody got hurt. The worst part is this company made it so difficult to get reimbursed for the heaters that didn't work and they even tried to keep the fee for the damage waiver deposit, accusing us of breaking the heater that caught on fire, that it was our fault. Luckily our security cameras recorded the heater being turned on, working fine for about an hour, and then caught fire on its own, literally a tiny explosion. I'll post a screen shot of it, but the video captures how scary the moment was. The rest of the night we were nervous of it happening again and someone getting burned. Anyway, took multiple calls to finally get a hold of someone that finally gave back money for the stuff that didn't work. They obviously dodged all my calls till I finally wore them down. So obviously I would not recommend this company to anyone. I'm very surprised they have so many good reviews because the customer service they displayed with us was the worse! read more

Dealt with Larry who set us up with, tables, chairs, and a margarita machine for our son's wedding. They delivered everything to our house a day early so we could setup the party, which was not in our contract. We greatly appreciated Larry getting the tables early, it took a lot of pressure off of us. The table clothes were nice, the chairs were clean, the delivery guys were very polite. We couldn't be happier, it was a great setup for an outdoor wedding. Frankly, we were kind of worried about having the right amount of tables and chairs, but Larry was very confident about the various table sizes, in regards to the amount of people we invited for the sit down dinner. It turned out to be the perfect amount of tables and chairs. Hometown sent two guys back the next day, one kid named Brad helped us clean up some of the mess from the party (someone broke a glass vase). My family has rented party and event supplies many times from hometown rentals and they continue to provide top level service. We have rented everything from tables and chairs to coffee makers. The coffee maker is large and professional quality so it can make a large quantity of good coffee- perfect for morning events. We have also once rented the chocolate fountain and used it as a chocolate milk fountain. You could tell it wasn't what it was made for and the machine wanted something a little thicker, but overall it worked well. Our guests were amazed that we had that at a birthday party. We reserved 24' truck on 1/24 to be used in our move on 1/28. Showed up at 8 in the morning and saw only two 10' trucks in the parking lot. That's not a good sign... The guy tells us that Budget never sent him the truck, which doesn't help us in our move. He did call around and then tells us none of the other dealers around him had any 24' trucks and the got us information on his competitor who does have a 26' truck. So at least we did end up with a truck on moving day from U-Haul, but next time we'd just go to U-Haul to start with and not waste our time with them or Budget. read more

Came back again this past weekend when I needed a water pump to drain my pool. Showed up without calling, and luckily they had the pump and hose in stock. Price was reasonable again and service was good. Gladly plugged in the pump to ensure it was in working condition before I left the location and helped me carry it to my truck. On the day of the party, the other place my mom ordered the stuff from had messed up our order and I found out 3 hours before the party started that the jumper and tables and chairs weren't coming.
