Tuesday August 20/2024 @ 10:00 AM. Cashier who didn't know the answers and who took her sweet time ringing me up! This review comes with great disappointment!! I came in needing a 9" round double cake board, box, pink foil. I asked two questions, neither one could be answered. I was ready to check out. I'm standing at the register. Marisela was starting to cut the paper, she then turned around and started talking to a co worker about the scissors not cutting, and how horrible they cut! Marisela will get some this weekend " her words" The other co worker likes the color pink and her scissors are pink. That's great. I just want to get in and out. ! When was the last time you swept or vacuumed your filthy floors. One of your Employees was standing inside looking at me in my car as I was waiting for the store to open. Instead of doing nothing, she could have cleaned the floors while waiting till 10:00 AM. This is NOT a good impression! For the same worker to look sloppy! Leggings, mid drift top showing her navel piercing is NOT professional! Not by my standards!! Just a shame how the standards are lacking here! I will NOT be back! I will go to Bakers Express in Baldwin park. Even though I live 2 minutes away from A & J cakes. Please employees, clean the floors etc. It is not a great first impression! I walked in and looked around for maybe 15 minutes. The woman behind the counter greeted me then didn't bother to look up from her phone during the duration of my visit. It also sounded like she was arguing with someone who was in the back of the store? I didn't buy anything since I wasn't helped and all the stuff I needed was behind the counter. My experience with this business today absolutely blew me away. The owners of this store are what set it apart from any other cake and candy supply store. I've been to this store a few times over the years and have been completely happy with the selection and pricing and everything. I have recommended people go there, but until today, I never felt compelled to post a review. They have almost anything you will ever need, but the great thing is, if they DON'T have it, they will help you find it. I recommend going in and looking around, but you should absolutely ask for their help finding something or how to make a product work for you. Buyer beware of rancid products! I bought over $40 of cute specialty sprinkles for a large cookie decorating party and had to throw out half of them due to the stench when I opened the little cups. What a disappointment! I'd take them back, but I drove an hour each way and do not have the time to spend on possibly replacing them with more bad product. I recently took a class at A&J cake & candy. It was the cookie decorating class with Paula as our instructor. The class was taught very well. I had a lot of fun attending, I also learned quite a bit. This was my first attempt at decorating cookies with royal icing. Paula made it very easy and explain things very well. She's available to answer questions And gives you tips along the way. I truly enjoyed my class and will be watching scheduled to take another. read more

A neat find for the fellow confection enthusiast. Here you can find a good variety of flavoring oils and gold/silver type of dusts all for a more than reasonable price. They also sell lots of molds for candies and chocolates as well as pastry/cupcake boxes. A great place to shop instead of amazon! Free lemons available when I was there that day, take as many as you want! Samples of candy and chocolate also available. I wish that there were more cake molds and extracts instead of oils. It's a small store but they have the basics. I felt awkward shopping here because the workers just started at us. One of the young women who work here kept looking at us like if we were going to steal. The prices are reasonable. They dont have a lot of pans. I didn't see any containers. The lady I'm guessing it was the owner that checked me out at the register was nice. She was telling me they have baking classes. I thought that was cool. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I called this place two days before my event and they assured me they could do an edible print for my father's 75th birthday party. I emailed my image to them the morning that I plan to pick up, I get off work early, fight traffic from DTLA all the way to timbucktoo Glendora. Got sent here to pick up some supplies for the wifey, who works during A&J's business horus; so all I had were pictures and the description of the items from said wife... Luckily, the ladies here were VERY helpful and gave us exactly what we needed; even referred to a guide to show us how big of a cake pan we needed to feed x amount of people. Came here today to pick up some supplies for some cupcakes. I found this place here on yelp and it was closer to home verses the other place I normally go to. Very mixed reviews it seems. My experience was pleasant. However when I first walked in, I was kinda given an off look by the lady behind the counter (she's was talking to another customer at the time). But other than that she was really helpful. There also was another lady who gave me lots of tips and tricks and helped me with a piping bag and inserting the tip. All in all I enjoyed the store and their products. I thought the ladies were very helpful! I would definitely be returning here for my baking needs. They informed me on their classes they offer.
