My fiancé and I had an incredible experience adopting our new dachshund from Vegas Roots Rescue. From the start, Lauren made the entire process so smooth. She was responsive, thorough, and genuinely cared about ensuring we found the right fit for our family. We were able to meet our sweet boy and even bring him home to see how he blended with our other dogs--which went perfectly. Now, we have another little angel to love and spoil. The two women running this rescue are nothing short of amazing. Their dedication to saving animals and finding them the best homes is truly inspiring. If you're thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, I can't recommend Vegas Roots Rescue enough. They're making a difference one pet at a time, and we're so grateful to be part of that story.

My beautiful girl, adopted from Vegas Roots.

Amazing communication and heartfelt cause. I adopted the best puppy from them. Everyone wants to take her home, she has the best temperament. I also offered to foster with them. All around great experience and life-saving cause.

There were only a few cats which was incredible, because so often they are full. The dogs, though, broke my heart. Their cages are clean and the animals were all healthy, just sad and lonely. We went to kennel after kennel and it was just heartbreaking to see so many sweet, beautiful, adorable, and needy dogs. It makes me want to beg all of Las Vegas to please go and adopt a sweet new dog, but I know that not everyone wants a dog or can have them for whatever reason. We don't even have dogs, but we do both love them. I just hope that the people who can adopt dogs will go to the animal foundation and help give an animal a forever home.

A volunteer at this Nevada SPCA found the dog. Veterinary team did tests. The doggy had a condition. When said doggy was adopted, the people that adopted him mastered how to administer medicines for the condition! Glad said doggy is now adopted into his forever family! I was told on 23 NOV 2021 by the foster mom "I sent all your texts to the operator of the rescue I foster for and she's very happy with everything your doing to ensure Avalanche's arrival. Her only concern is if for whatever reason it doesn't work out and we have to come get him your all the way in Georgia and not that we're saying it won't work we just have to think of every possible scenario for Avalanche's safety is all. But you seem sincere and I've been talking to her about it." I then told the foster mom I would sign whatever needed that would require me to return him to Nevada. The foster mom and I then messaged everyday. I got all the things he would need and want. I got the food he was on, his favorite treats, toys, brush, leashes, collar, harness, toothbrush, shampoo, seat belt for his harness, bed, crate etc. I scheduled a vet appointment and two daycare evaluations locally as well as to meet with a professional trainer. Then on 06 DEC I was emailed that I cannot adopt him as I live out of state and that's their policy. This was the first I was told that policy. I've since offered to fly out there (I was going to have a rescue group transport him for me which I filled out all that paperwork) and rent a car and drive back myself (2,000 miles). I offered to do a FaceTime and have any other person they trusted that was local (from another rescue organization) to see my home as they require a home inspection. Now they are messaging me telling me "Please reach out to those rescues who will make exceptions. We will not make the exception. Thank you. We will no longer entertain ANY messages or emails from you as we have been clear on our end". I feel betrayed as I couldn't sleep the night they told me. I kept looking at everything I had ready for him and crying. I thought rescuing an animal was the right thing to do and instead I'm left with a broken heart. It's not okay what they did to me.

We run into Nutter Butter that had just arrived at the PetSmart on 2140 N Rainbow Boulevard. I believe his arrival date is 5/52026. My wife and I immediately love him, but our determination was based on how he reacted to our children. Our daughter is four years and our son turns two in July. We knew he'd be shy, but Nutter Butter responded very well to our children, and that's what made us take the leap of faith to bring him home. Less than twenty-four hours later, Betty the Adoption Facilitator sent me a text at 7:33am, denying our adoption request, and even went to the length of stating that she refrains from adopting to family with small children. She informed me to wait until my children get older, THEN at that point we can adopt a cat. I expressed to Betty that Nutter Butter was very receptive to my children and that's what made us sure in our determination to adopt him. I would like to state that Betty was not present for my family meeting Nutter Butter. After informing her that I felt this was blatant discrimination, and that I'd be filing a complaint, she immediately requested to meet her at PetSmart so we can discuss adoption at 6pm today. However, the initial encounter was so negative that I canceled the meeting. If this is how your adoption facilitators conduct themselves when dealing with families that want to give cats a loving home, then this adoption company isn't very helpful to the cats they serve. My daughter cried when I informed her of the very abrasive text message Betty sent me. What she texted me after in a disrespectful and condescending tone is what moved me to file this complaint. This really turned a hopeful and memorable moment into a terrible experience with this adoption company. Adoption Facilitators like Betty are hurting the company, and evermore the cats they continue to house.

They went to 2 separate homes as planned. Unfortunately, shortly after bringing them home, we learned they had panleukopenia (feline panleukopenia virus). Our resident cats are all spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and receive regular veterinary care. Despite taking those precautions, we came home to find our cats had died after being exposed. We now have to isolate and treat the rest of our household cats, which has been emotionally devastating and financially overwhelming. We sent Heaven Can Wait our veterinary records, diagnosis, and bill, but instead of showing concern, they questioned whether what happened was true. That response was incredibly disappointing during an already heartbreaking situation. I understand that rescuing stray kittens comes with risks, but I believe shelters and rescues need to do everything possible to screen for highly contagious diseases and be transparent about those risks before adoption. I hope they improve their protocols to help prevent other families from experiencing the same loss we did. This was a devastating experience, and I encourage anyone adopting kittens--especially those rescued from the streets--to ask detailed questions about disease screening, quarantine procedures, and what testing has been performed before bringing them home.
