This happened in November 2024 but I'm finally posting about it: 99% of the reviews I write are 4 or 5 stars. That just emphasizes how ridiculous this place conducts business and how horrible our experience was. A woman named *Brittany* promised us over the phone that if we drove an hour each way from the city they had the EXACT car (color, model, everything) we wanted for us to take home SAME NIGHT and they'd have everything ready by the time we arrive at 5pm. So, we cancel dinner plans and head to the dealership! We show up and mention we're there to meet with the manager *Carolina* as directed but are shuffled around to someone else who doesn't know what's happening. After an hour of sitting around waiting for answers, we're told they don't have the car as promised. Instead, they had a different color that we could get TOMORROW. We ask if they'd at least give us a good discount for all of our troubles and when they go to talk to *Carolina* again (never met her or spoke to her directly by the way), we were waiting another ten minutes with no answers before we walked out. Moral of the story: they lie so that they can get you in the door. I'm incredibly frustrated and feel absolutely disrespected. I'm truly shocked and wish these people nothing but failure. read more

I went there about a Honda Accord. Mind you they don't list the damages about the car on their website. Going in I could instantly tell the front bumper needed to be completely replaced but for the price I was willing to do it myself. I come to find out the rear bumper also has damages. They don't disclose it all nor do they tell you. If I could I would have never bought the car but now I'm going down the rabbit hole of replacing the bumper and later on fixing the rear. I'm pretty sure this car had an accident but instead of Honda wanting to fix, they cheated me out. I will never buy again from Honda. I bought my Honda Civic here a few years ago. they were condescending to me throughout the process as a single woman buying my first car. They were also mad that I had my own financing and wouldn't be financing through them. When it came time to sign documents fo the sale they tried to trick me into applying for financing. After lying to me that if I didnt sign the financing form, I couldn't buy the car- I started crossing out the parts that authorized them to run my credit. They whipped the paper out of my hands and told me I was "ridiculous." We finished the sale quickly after that. I should have walked out but I needed the car. read more

DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM THEM. Like others have reported, they may never get around to filing paperwork for a title. They keep telling you not to worry, when you can even get a reply, because your temporary tags last three months. Well, days away from that three months and nothing. I called the BMV and they said no application had been made in my name, and no application had ever been filed for the VIN on the vehicle. Like others, I am having to take legal action and go through the state attorney general's office to get a car, which I have paid for, registered in my name. Also, as others have reported, do not trust ANYTHING that you are told via text message. Our car was vibrating so we brought it to Honda City. They said the diagnostic would cost $189. We agreed and paid it. They said that the air duct had a tear and it would cost $300. They CONVIENTLY had the part available in shop for a 2016 CRV. We got the car back and it's STILL vibrating. I called them back and Daniel Flores said I told you it was just a GUESS. He NEVER told me it was a guess. He said bring back the car and they will do another diagnose. I asked how many guesses do I have to pay for? He said as may as it takes! read more

Finally after months waiting. We went to take our car in for the recall. They said it would take 3-4 hours. They arranged a Lyft so we didn't have to wait. The service member Jason told us he would contact us once it's done and will get us a Lyft back. Hours pass and haven't heard back. We tried calling, went to voicemail. We tried calling our salesperson and they said services are closed. We are now carless with things to do. We have to take off work because they refuse to help us. They can only give us any information Monday when they open. Just to let you know. Don't make plans. Don't trust the people here. Call them every hour until they tell you it's done. Untrustworthy. I do not recommend anyone buying a car from Honda City. In February 2024 I bought a new Honda Accord from Honda City. I traded in my Mazda3 . They charged me a Documentation fee of $343, which was for doing the paperwork on my car deal. I kept my same license plate , so all they needed to do was transfer all the documents required to the State of Illinois and I would get my title transfer and be able to renew my plates on 6/30/2024. The finance manager never sent in the proper paperwork, including uploading the images so my old car was still registered to me. I contacted Carolina the General Sales Mranager on July 7, 2024, but even at the end of July no paperwork was sent. I finally contacted the Secretary of State thru my State Senator and was able to get my plates renewed. read more

Awful experience. I went online shopping under the certified pre-owned section of their website and found two cars in their inventory that we liked. I called and I asked if the certified pre-owned warranty cost came included with the cars and was promised it was included in the cost. Set up a meeting time with the person I spoke with on the phone and they had no idea we were coming or what we were looking at when we got there and got a completely different person. We set up an appointment an hour from home for no reason. They didn't have enough desks for their workers and we were directed in circles while I told them which cars we were trying to look at. Then when we sat down to look over pricing, they said the certifications advertised on their own website are not actually bought for the cars and YOU have to pay $1800 for them after we'd already test driven them. It doesn't say this on the website, I checked what fees we were looking at. They lied on the phone when I specifically asked. They were unwilling to budge about a price they told me over the phone UNPROMPTED that they'd be willing to lower. The advertised mileage on one of the cars was off by around 12,000 miles and they had no idea why. We couldn't take the cars on the highway so we couldn't get them above 40mph to see how they run. Overall, horribly misleading website, phone calls, and team. They tried to make the excuse "well those are just our online workers" but that's a problem when I need to know facts about the cars. Told us he couldn't give us the carfax until we bought the car (you can view those online for free.) We couldn't take our offer with us because he said he had to "protect himself." read more

I had my car selected over phone and sales told me that the car will be there during my expected time range. We also talked about the markups and the price on website being the base along with tax and reg, to which sales kindof agreed and assured me that they will have a good deal. I walked in after investing my 1.5 hours to see the sales and close the deal, to my surprise the sales which I talked to lured me into the trap of car being available early whereas the actual incoming date was 20 days later than we discussed, when I confronted why did they falsely lured me to the manager she told me that, her reps work is to bring people in she is not in sales. This pissed me off but I was calm as the price on website was good and I wanted the car. When we started talking numbers a 29,800 MSRP car was charged with 1500$ for warranty 2600$ for dent protection and premium showroom service to drop and pick vehicle off. 1000$ of all weather matting. a total of 5500$ markup the 29,800MSRP car was shown to me with Price of 39,000 and this dosent include the 10% interest on financing. So they wanted me to give them 35-40% of the cars worth, because of their insane markup. This tipped me off, and I confronted the sales with it to which they replied if you cannot pay these markup someone else will. I told them I had a better deal at Motorwerks and they said me to go there. I would recommend people to not go there, or just go for a test drive if you want to drive the car before you research and buy from someone else. Hilariously bad service--checked off every slimy car dealer cliché in the book. Called about a specific model, which they told me they had ready to test drive. Made an appointment for the same day, and once I arrived they told me me that vehicle was in the shop and the only thing available was the most expensive, highest end model. Classic bait-and-switch, which the salesperson even admitted to. Test drove it anyway, told them we wanted to purchase the cheaper model they have in the shop, but they kept pushing for the higher end, like they hadn't even heard us When we finally did get numbers out of them, they added on a $4,000 "market adjustment" which is just a way for the dealer to gouge the price and tried to convince us it's like that at every dealership across the country. Bought a car from an out of state dealer the next day without all the dishonest "market adjustment" tactics. This place is a complete joke--thoroughly insulting and unprofessional. Would not recommend. I wish I'd checked the reviews ahead of time, because it's clear the folks here have no respect for anyone's time. I called ahead to schedule an appointment, explained to them my issue (tire pressure warning; wanted my tires inspected and fixed), and was told it would take 1.5-2 hours in total to fix it. I scheduled my appointment for 7:15am and was the third customer there. It took them FOUR HOURS to inspect my tires and replace two of them. I didn't leave until after 11am. I expressed multiple times that I was in a rush (needed to leave town that morning) and was told on that phone that it would only take 2 hours, and they continually just told me "the person on the phone shouldn't have promised you a time." So then... fix your policies. The customer should not be waiting twice as long as they were told. Many other customers came and left in the time I was waiting, and I was barely given an apology. When I complained, I was offered a measly $15 off a $350+ service (and even then, only IF it took them OVER 4 hours). Every time I was given an ETA for the next step, it took almost twice as long as they told me. The diagnostic alone took them 1.5 hours (and when I told them that was the ETA for everything, they said "well you got the answer about what was wrong, didn't you?"). Nowhere else does it take four hours to inspect and replace tires. Avoid. read more

Car was listed as having 7,500 miles. When I got there to test it and buy it, I find it has 75,000 miles. Simple listening error would but ok, I even said as much, but then thought about how the the salesman said, "ya we have asked online people to change it." Now here is the problem: they knew the listening was wrong yet texted back and forth and emailed back and forth and despite knowing I was 20 min away, they never once told me about the discrepancy. Doing any service/maintenance to your vehicle. Please go somewhere else. I brought 2 different cars at 2 different times. Both for the same service (oil change). BUT, I was charged $24.95 before taxes and labor AND the second time I was charged $39.99 before taxes and labor. HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? Both cars have the same amount of mileage. Both are performing the conventional oil change. When asked, they respond by saying "company's policy has changed." But the windows and elsewhere all advertise the price to be $24.95. $15 is a small amount of money, but I personally think it is a matter of integrity and consistency. The company has failed to notify their customers about this "service change policy." I do not know and I am not making any claims of any potential discrimination or racism act from this service center. But there is definitely a possibility. The prices are really just randomly determined by the customer service representative at the time. If he/she is in a good mood, maybe they will provide you with the better price. Maybe when it is busy, they will provide you with a more expensive price. Who knows? But my experience here being charged 2 different prices for the EXACT same service is just ridiculous to me. read more

This was one of the worst experiences we've ever had with any business. Writing this, I'm embarrassed that we bought a car from them. Wish we would have waited and not worked with them. It took 5 hours and the deal constantly changed. The actual mileage in the vehicle was 30% higher than was listed online. We got the original price quote online, when we arrived they added $1,900 more with an undisclosed options/service package that we didn't want. We had to haggle with them to reduce that. The sales team was extremely dismissive of our concerns. I had to constantly advocate for us since the details were always shifting. For instance they wanted us to sign some blank documents that they would fill out later. They promised services verbally until I required them in writing at which point they said they can't perform those as part of the deal. Before I agreed to buy the car they had already transferred the plates from my trade in to the used car. I was shocked when I found out and started to have them reverse the plate transfer and leave, but at that point they accepted all the original terms we talked about. I felt like I had already wasted so much time and didn't want to go into another car dealership again. It was a lose-lose situation at that point and buying a car (which could be exciting) was excruciating. I think I got a reasonable price and I'm glad to have a different vehicle more suited to my lifestyle, but would have rather paid more and used Carvana or possibly another dealership. I hope to never have to work with a dealer again - especially this dealer. Several employees in the office were not wearing masks if that is something that is important to you. read more

The first lie I was told was that the car had a clean title, which in fact it did NOT have a clean title after doing my own research. Honestly, not sure how dealerships stay in business with terrible customer support. They make the sale but fall short on delivery. We sign for the sale of the car and of course they want their money ASAP, we told them next week. We show up as we told them a week later, the car seem to be washed only on the outside, interior was dirty, no manual, half a tank of gas and only one key. Seriously, what kind of service is this, you were told that this is a new car but it seems to be a demo car. This is honestly the worst experience I had ever had in a purchase of a new car. I really don't even want to recommend this dealership to anyone no matter how much cheap they offer the new car to. No thank you for shopping here attitude. Not even a walk thru the car and they parked the car outside in the customer parking lot so you can get dinged. BUYER BEWARE: "HONDA CITY STOLE MY SONS CAR." PLEASE READ Reynaldo, current manager at Honda City and previous owner of Midway Motorsports, arrested last month for fraud and still being investigated, has my sons car and is refusing to give it to him. Honda City, part of BL Auto Group, originally sold the car to Midway Motorsport/Reynaldo. Midway/Reynaldo then sold the car to my son and received full payment for the vehicle from the finance company but did not properly file the title transfer. My sons car was impounded due to issues with the temporary plates given to him by Midway Motorsports/Reynaldo on two occassions. Honda City/BL Auto Group then retrieved the car from the impound with the original title even though it was no longer valid since the car is now in my son's name. He has plates and registration he received from the Illinois Secretary of State to prove the car is in his name. My son has been without his car for over a month now. We have on several occasions pleaded with Honda City to give my son the car back but they flat out refused. My sons is still financially responsible for the car and is making payments for a car he can't even drive. This is now a civil matter which Chicago PD cannot help us with and we are being forced to seek legal council to fight them. This is a nightmare. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! Drove all the way from Edgewater to see a VW Passat I was interested in. The car was exactly as pictured, although a bit dirty on this inside (no big deal...I can always clean a little!) The sales rep was very personable and nice. The price was exactly where I wanted it to be. So I said...yeah, let's see what we can do. About 30 minutes later, they came back to tell me that all the banks and loan companies they deal with had declined to offer me a loan. (WHAT?! My credit score has hovered around 820 for years!) The only loan they could offer me was through a local credit union with a 8.9% interest rate!! (My car payments would have gone from $293 to $456 for a car that was basically a lateral trade!) And they could offer me $8,000 on my trade-in. (The KBB trade in value is between $11K-$13K!) I've been buying cars for 45 years and have never been so insulted by an offer in my life!! I told them that I could get an auto loan through my credit union for 6.9%. They said that perhaps everyone denied me because I had too many inquiries on my credit report! I came home and looked. The last inquiry on my credit prior to yesterday was in 2022!! I said, no way, and walked out. The guy came out to car and asked if we could make a deal if they gave me $9K for my trade-in. I said, no thank, and drove away. I suspect that their credit union is someone they know and perhaps they get a little kick-back. This is THEEE worst car buying experiences I had to go through. Prior to coming up from St. Louis, MO I was told they would honor 2 different discounts, an $150 internet discount and another promotional discount for the new year of $500. This is all the while getting random and repetitive automatic emails and phone calls from multiple employees, while the person I tried to repeatedly contact (Mike Siddiqui) would ignore my emails and calls instead sending copy and paste email responses. The morning of my scheduled test drive Mike calls me in the morning to announce the car in question was ready and prepared for me to see. By the time I arrived at the dealership an hour after, I was told to drive across the block to the other lot only to find the car in question wasn't ready but also covered 4 inches of snow in the very back of the lot. After waiting 30 minutes for the vehicle I had a shady test drive where the representative was resistant to me taking the CERTIFIED PREOWNED car on the highway. Once I was able to take it there I noticed the tires and breaks were badly worn and vibrating when the pedal was pressed. The rep also said the CERTIFIED status of the car was optional and there would be no charges for the current Certified status and only optional charges for an EXTENDED certification if wanted. After the worry-some test drive and throughout a drawn out 3 hour long process, Mike tried to pretend like they didn't know what discounts I talked about until I pulled up and provided the email confirmations. By the time I got met the finance rep to go over the individual charges, they came up with a completely new price $1,700 over what was advertised even before the discounts and blamed it on the car being certified. When the finance rep called the previous test drive rep over, the test drive rep told him to quickly take off the charge but the finance rep refused. Then Mike came over after previously making jokes and eating Popeyes Chicken to argue about why the price increased from the previous advertised price. My brother and I decided to leave and walked a block back to our car in the snow and cold to our car at the other lot. Ten minutes after driving back towards chicago, Mike predictably calls to ask if we had left (OBVIOUSLY) and asked if we would come back if he dropped the price by $400 and then $500. I told him I was basically already home and that it was no longer about price but about principle and honestly. An hour after the same day I immediately drove to NORTH CITY HONDA in chicago and the car buying experience was night and day. NO HAGGLING just the discounts up front. The test drive for myself and brother was alone without even requesting ID or Insurance. They even went out of their way to pull our desired car out from the very back of the lot moving multiple cars in the process. I'm glad I avoided the deathtrap car that HONDA CITY and Mike S tried to overcharge me. AVOID this shady, greedy and highly unprofessional dealer at all cost. They assume everyone that walks in is an idiot and can be easily taken advantage of! They also don't care if they sell you an unsafe vehicle and have the nerve to overcharge from their advertised prices. They wasted 4 hours of my life and had the nerve to make jokes while eating fried chicken in front of multiple angry customers. I hope they wash their hands before getting into their own cars. Go to North City Honda if you want to be treated right. No wonder they sold 4 cars in the time I was there shopping. Blessed to have avoided buying a car from Honda City and Mike Siddiqui. Mike if you're reading this which I know you will... please change the way you do business and treat customers.
