Just an oil change on my old fearless Honda. But as I age, I get more intolerant of disrespect. I'd been a customer of another Honda for 15 faithful years. But I'm a long time loner and I put maybe too much stock in decent treatment by people I give money to. From doctors to dry cleaners to service departments of dealerships. And the few employees I observed, dealt with or overheard treated us Honda modestly living sorts decently. I won't name the prior dealership who for most of those 15 years did miracles and were beyond decent. But staff changed and so did attitudes. What am I chasing in this world? I brought my civic in because my car jerks when I accelerate every time... they tell me it's "the wrong floor mat so it's jamming under the pedal and that's the reason the car is jumping". It's been doing this since before I put the mat in, so that's not the cause. I try explaining this to the advisor and she argues with me that the tech is certain it's from the floor mat. Now this being about the 15th problem I've had between both of my vehicles purchased at this location, with majority of the issues not being fixed and having to go to another dealer, I started to get pissed. I know the floor mat is NOT the cause, and at this point the service manager is involved. I ask if they even drove my car or just assuming it's the mat and he tells me his head mechanic is fantastic and wouldn't just assume. Says he drove the car around the lot and it's fine... some more arguing and the manager finally says okay to have his mechanic take the car on the road for a test drive. I see them pull out, and once they come back they bring the car right back into the shop. Come to find out, as I already knew, it's NOT THE FLOOR MAT. It's the air hose which is cracked so it's pulling in more air than it should. They give me a quote for almost $195, although it's only a $20 part at advanced. I get home, show my friend the part that's cracked and as we're looking under the hood we come to notice they took the plug off one of the reservoirs and never put it back letting debris get in. It isn't the first time they didn't put something back on either, as they forgot to attach the plastic cover to my engine in the past and it fell UNDER the engine, that when I found the piece it was burnt to hell. My other car they had to replace a part for the air conditioner and they forgot to attach the defroster back in so I had no defrost over the winter. Seems like this place has no care for safety, they will tell you whatever they please and not fully assess your vehicle unless you push it. I highly suggest do NOT use this dealer for service, only reason I do still is because my cars under warranty through them, so I'm kinda stuck. Thoroughly check that your car is repaired if you do use them! I don't trust them at all. read more

I have a 2012 Honda Civic with about 75000 miles. It shouldn't be having ANY issues at this point in its life. Right? Wrong. I've had it fixed 16 times so far this year (and its only the beginning of May, so that says a lot) the first 2 times at my machanic and the next 7 at Honda. First time at Honda to get it fixed they had my car for about a week after telling us it'd only take a few days, which i was okay with because I thought it was going to be fixed. I come to pick it up and they LOST MY KEY!!!! Yes, you read that correctly. I got into the car with my 2 page long receipt, the key I (thank god) brought with me, and genuine hope they'd done their jobs. The key was never found. I ended up having to go back and wait a few HOURS to get a new key made. Car was driving beautifully, I was excited. About 2 weeks later, driving on a flat road towards a stop sign ALL OF THE CHECK LIGHTS THAT IT STARTED WITH, but this time an extreme jolt each time I hit the gas shook the car and it was put into "limp mode" (which means it'll only go 25mph max) but it ended up breaking down again before we even made it 3 miles. Got it towed, and (long story short) i had no car for another 3 days while it WASNT being fixed. Got the car back, the radio and passenger window were broken. The radio had physical damage but the steerig wheel buttons were still functionig and i hadn't noticed the window for a few days so I was just driving around and then i decided to bring it back to get fixed and they decided THEY DIDNT CREATE THE PROBLEM and said they'd only see if they could buff out the plastic on the radio (that the buttons didnt even work on) and MADE IT WORSE!!! THEY BROKE IT FURTHER AND ONLY THEN AGREED TO FIX IT!!!! They told me getting the part would only take a few days and it ended up taking over a week again. At that time I also told Bill about some downshifting problems on the highway to which he responded that "theres nothing we can do without a check light" They then called my father and told him I should bring it in and the radio fix would only take about 30 minutes. Awesome. I came in the next day 2 hours before my class started since I'm a college student with no extra free time. Bill Dempsey showed up an HOUR after I had been waiting because only he had access to the radio (which is super sketchy BTW) for me to get the comped replacement. So I only have an hour until class starts, my friend and I start a conversation with a lovely gentleman waiting for his own car to be fixed, and Bill lies to that person when I explained all of the issues I'd been having because Bill didn't want to take responsibility for Honda's mechanical and system problems. So it's about 15 minutes until my class starts, i'm already running late, and I go to Bill's office to ask what he's doing and why it's not done. He says "oh, we're giving you a complimentary car wash" First of all: i was not asked if I wanted this car wash, which I didnt Second: they didnt even check that the window was STUCK OPEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SO THE WATER WAS GETTING INTO THE CAR And finally, because it's hackettstown honda so of course something else had to go wrong, when I got the car back there were SCRATCHES AND CHIPS IN THE PAINT ALL OVER THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR!!!!!! THEY LITERALLY MUST HAVE WASHED THE CAR WITH ROCKS BECAUSE I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE COULD HAVE MADE THAT MUCH DAMAGE IN A CAR WASH SCENARIO Never in my life have I EVER had so many problems with a customer service or repair service. I am only posting this review after finally giving up and selling the car. Never again will I buy a Honda and I recommend everyone else sells theirs. Get out before the problems start because no matter how many times you try, it'll never be fixed. And NEVER go to this repair center even if you do keep your honda. You'll end up spending more than your car is worth and having more damage than you showed up with. i know we did. read more

This is the 3rd used car we bought from Honda of Hackettstown and I have to say all 3 times were good experiences. This time our salesman was very attentive to us. He was not "pushy" and just guided us on our journey. From sales to finance we were happy with. Love the sand timer in the finance office, means they respected out time. Sale manager understood our need and between the salesman and manager they exceeded our needs and expectations. I would highly recommend you give these guys a shot, we looked at Toyota and felt we were just another customer, but here at H of H, we felt like family and friends. read more

I was driving through the area and noticed my tire indicator came on ... low pressure I stopped in asked for helped honestly not realizing it was a Honda service bay ( see I own a Hyundai and the dealership was next to the Honda dealership) ... anyways , the tech was so nice and filled my tires with air and gave me advise ... Very happy with the service I am provided by Hackettstown Honda. From the person answering the phone to make the appointment all the way thru to the valet to get my car, everyone (and i do mean everyone) I have dealt with really seems to go the extra mile. The employees seem to be empowered by management to take ownership of situations, its actually quite refreshing since my last car (not a Honda) went to a dealership which seemed old school shady. This last visit, I would like to give a shout out to Bobby M, who really went the extra mile. Thanks Bobby for providing superb customer service. Service center is amazing here! The staff was extremely friendly, professional & helpful(especially Meghan). They were very honest & told me I didn't need my tires rotated as my car indicated instead of just trying to get a sale. They even washed my car. Will be back!! read more

Newer to the area. Came here to have them take care of the airbag recall on my wife's Civic. They were very nice and accommodating.... they also didn't call me and tell me I needed a new car or 10k in additional work like some of the Subaru dealerships I have been to so that was a nice change. Just one thing to note, I had an appointment for this so I expected to literally drop the keys off and walk away. Nope! You have to check in with the valet, then go inside and sit in a waiting room for a service advisor to call you. Then you tell the advisor what you need. Pick-up was just as overly complicated. I went to the counter who gave me the key, then I had to give the key to the valet to get the car. I guess they really don't want you driving in their lot. I understand this is probably a Honda thing but it just felt overly complicated for no reason. read more

I have been going to Hackettstown Honda since I purchased my CRV back in 2014. I feel this dealer is honest, and I have been pleased with my service experiences as well. The Honda brand is well respected, and it's nice to have a local dealership to take the product to an even higher level during the sales process and thereafter for routine maintenance! We leased a 2016 Honda Accord Sport and our salesmen was excellent. However, the car comes with no charge oil changes for the life of the lease. We have been there twice. Both times it took an HOUR AND A HALF with our scheduled appointment. WAY TO LONG!!! What takes so long?? *Get the customer in and out.* If it takes more then an 1/2 hour they are doing something wrong. So if you are planning to get your oil change done here. Pack a lunch!! But in all fairness not a bad dealership so far. But I hope they will make corrections based on their customer complaints. read more

I am very disappointed in Honda. Last year I turned in a lease car early and bought an Odyssey. I was told that the dealership was taking a loss on the deal only to find that they added $5000 to my cost. Now this year they sent an offer for a CR-V that looked great- only to be told that I owe $10000 more than the car is worth. What happened to Honda's retaining their value.
