I was extremely impressed by the honesty and professionalism of the manager, Rich. Couple months ago I took my very old car (2010 Sonata) for oil change and the mechanics spotted several problems and gave me a list of job to be performed on the car. I have put it away for a while until I finally decided to keep the car for a longer period of time, I brought it back to honesty-one to replace the CV Axle which is more critical for safety reason. Rich then passed it on to the mechanics and after they had checked it up again, Rich came back to me and told me that the problems they previously diagnosed are not significant and I in fact do not need any repair for now! I was really very grateful for them being so honest and ended up saving me couple hundred dollars which I would have paid anyway since I took their previous recommendation for granted. I took my car in for a tune up and asked to have the spark plugs changed. They said I an intake manifold replacement. I gave them the go ahead to do while doing the tune up. They charged me over $600 for just that part and never touched the sparked plugs while insisting I needed a $10,000 new engine. The intake manifold needs to be removed in order to reach some of the spark plugs!!! Now, I need to go somewhere else and pay again to have a tune up and my spark plugs changed. The person at the front desk was completely different when I showed up with my brother to pick up my car. He suddenly did not push for me to get a new engine. I arrived and was told the manufacturer of the car only takes synthetic oil which is conveniently a $38 upcharge. I've had the car for 10 years and never gotten synthetic oil and I've gotten oil changes at Toyota (the manufacturer) and did not get synthetic oil there. I told the employee that and he shrugged and double downed and said I could sue them for using regular oil if "something" went wrong in the future. He then said he wished the voucher warned people, which I was confused because they can write that in the Goupon details. He told me about the synthetic oil after he redeemed the voucher, so I had no choice. While I was waiting, I read yelp reviews and another woman had been in the same position a year ago, but they raised the synthetic oil upcharge by $10 more since then. In her review, her brother who is a mechanic also agreed that it was false. I feel really slighted that I was bait and switched with the Groupon and have to pay $38 every time on false pretenses in addition to what I paid for the Groupon. They fixed the first manifold but not the "second" They should've told me that I should sell my car at the gate instead of fixing one problem not telling me about the other. I purchased a Groupon for a VIP coupon on 12/30/19. I made an appt for an oil change and took my car in 12/31/19. I was upcharged $40.99 after the service, which I can only assume was labor since the Groupon said the oil changes were free. I honestly have no idea. The mechanic was nice and the service was quick. I have an appt this coming Monday 3/9/20 for a diagnostic for my check engine light being on. The guy I spoke to this morning said it is $148, but my coupon card says 1/2 free. But this morning the lead mechanic at the Aloha Honest 1 send me a private message over facebook that was very gross and sexu6 involving my mother. Now I dont have any friends in common with him nor have I ever interacted with him on facebook. So I don't know if my mother actually personally upset him or if he just chose a random female customers name out of the Honest 1 computer. But the face that through his work he has a access to my personal information and is sending these types of messages out is terrifying. I'm running a few days behind in making this post but it is a post I feel that those who do their due diligence should consider. That and I wanted to be able to sit down, take the time and write a review that I felt was befitting and well deserved sooooo strap in....I'm about to make a short story long. Look, doing research in an effort to find a shop with quality personnel who won't "raw-dog" you, a shop that will do you right, shoot you straight and skip the upsell, ...it's a daunting task. In my lifetime and considering the many locations I have lived in, finding one is a rarity. I've had a mechanic in TN tell me not to drive too far on a water pump that was going bad because I had heard a squeal under the hood and refused service due to the high quote I was given. Had 2 other shops tell me the same thing (my mistake for telling them what the first place said). In total, I passed on 3 water pump replacement service quotes, only to find out during an oil change in Kansas a few months later that the squeal was a serpentine belt that was going bad. I drove that vehicle over 100K more miles and sold it with that same stock water pump in it. It's probably safe to say the vast majority of us have experienced something that ranges from similar to far beyond. My first experience with Honest-1 was a couple years ago when I was living in Hillsboro and had a caliper issue. It was a manufacturer defect and I was taken back to the bay and shown first hand right where my issue was. I was told what had happened and shown exactly why/where I may have issues due to how my new calipers were installed. I took pics while the mechanic pointed his finger right at the point in question. I never forgot how diligent they were. Hell, I was even given a beater car to drive back to my house for the day. Definitely not a car to take the wife on a fancy date in but I appreciated the gesture to no end. This has been years ago and I cannot verify that this is still an option that is afforded to anyone but it was much appreciated! FFWD to 3 days ago, right. I now live in Woodburn. I have for 2 years and I have utilized the services that are available to me here. What a joke. I've been upsold, lied to and upcharged. All I kept thinking was, "Dammit....I should have made the drive to Beaverton. This is what I get. My fault". I had a clicking/ticking sound coming from the rear end of my truck. I had ignored it for over a year but then it got worse. Google research had all kinds of ideas and when you're not a mechanic, self diagnosing is akin to using WebMD to find out why you have a headache. I either drank to much or I have cancer....somewhere in between there. The ticking was loud enough that my wife and daughter had asked me what the sound was as I pulled into the drive one day. "Honest-1". I told my wife, "I'm not fooling with these guys here in town. I'm taking it to Beaverton". So I did. I pull in, drop it off about 15 minutes after they had opened. We ran through the pleasantries, this, that, you know....the other. I sit at a table waiting for my wife to pick me up. Facebook, Insta, TikTok time. I don't even get to the Insta part before a shop mechanic sticks his head in the front door, "Mr. Harrington, you wanna come out here? Today is your lucky day". I'm like...."ummmm....what? It was so simple, you're already done"? He says, "I had a feeling soooooo....." then he kneels down at my left rear wheel, grabs the plastic end cap. It's cracked and missing a piece from my fat a$$ stepping on it to get into the bed of my truck (In my defense, I am older. These used to all be made of steel). The end cap is missing the retaining ring so for at least (probably longer) a year, it's been wobbling with the rotation of the wheel. click...click...click..click.click,click,click. End result: pulled the cap off, tossed it in the cab of the truck, pulled the other side off (because I like to match and all) and off I went. No charge. Diagnosed and cured within 10 minutes of me being there and within maybe 2 minutes of the mechanic having taken it. I felt stupid and my man card took a hit that day but I assured them I can run a mean BBQ in a desperate attempt to hold whatever bit of tattered card I still had pinched between my thumb and forefinger (pinky pointed out...but whatever). There are a looooot of other places who would have taken advantage of that situation. I'll forever make that trip from Woodburn and if you have to, you should too. read more

I was furious when they told me I HAVE to get a full synthetic oil change & it was going to be an up-charge of $28. It didn't make sense to me because I have never gotten a full synthetic oil change before in my life. After I called my brother, who was a mechanic, told me that I don't need to do a full synthetic oil change, which I already knew. I came back inside and asked them if they can just do a synthetic blend oil change and they REFUSED to do it & tried to up-charge me even more by saying it was $32?! At this point, I was livid and walked out and also asked for a refund on my groupon. They were not friendly during this whole predicament and towards the end, one of the works actually raised his voice at me. At that point, I was so livid that I walked out. If it wasn't for my brother, I probably would of went through with them. I am grateful that jiffy lube was next door and I went over to ask them a few questions. I took my car in for a simple oil change and to locate a power steering fluid leak. The next day I was quoted over $3000 worth of repairs including a radiator leak. I only authorized the most serious repairs but had to finance the bill at 149% intrest rate. But the real issue is when I went to pick my car up, they said 'by the way you have a serious lifter knocking and that this is common for BMW's'. Fist of all it wasn't knocking when I took it in and I said that they would have clearly heard the knocking when they pulled the car into the shop yet never mentioned it until I picked it up. After spending almost $2000 over the last year, I was hoping for better care. I had my car towed here for a water outlet hose crack. For replacement if the hose, and a coolant flush $726 is what Im quoted. I know the pandemic has made proces high but when Im told by another mechanic that the parts are roughly $100 at most... this seemed outrageous. I also learned I paid too much for the other services I received recently. But when I am a single mom on one income, this is frightening. I told them I would pick up car and to not do the repair. Guess what? I still get charged $171 for assessment fee. No service. How can anyone afford this? I will never recommend this establishment to anyone. I took my car in to Honest 1 because I had a squeeling coming from my engine bay. I called Honest 1 and asked what it would cost to install a serpentine belt if I brought the part in. They told me $110. I said ok, brought it in and they changed it same day and I got my car back. The next morning I realized that the issue was still continuing. I took the car back in to see if they could find out what the actual issue was. Later on they called me back to give me a quote for the work. On this call, I told them that I may be able to get the parts for the repair. At this time I was told that if you bring in your own parts, there would be no warranty, and that labor would cost more. I gave them the go ahead to do the work. After picking up my car, I looked over the receipt, since they don't give you the cost breakdown prior to paying. I was billed $404.77 total for 3 different parts. This seemed a little bit high so I did some searching and found that OEM parts were cheaper. I went back in to ask Rich, the man sitting at reception, why there would be such a price discrepancy. I was told that I was given the bottom price and that's just what they pay for parts. Now this got me thinking back to when I was told if I provide the parts, labor would cost more. If you're not marking up the price of the parts, then why is labor more expensive if you're not charging me for parts? When I left, I wanted to be sure I had more accurate information for this review, so I called a dealership and asked for the price of the 3 parts, which came to a total of $270. So somehow the Honest 1 after market parts cost about 50% more than the same parts from a dealership, which everybody knows isn't giving anyone a deal. After getting my car back, the noise was still making the noise, so I took it back for them to take a look and try and resolve the issue. They had my car for 5 days, and every day they called me to let me know that the squeeling was not happening long enough to figure out what was wrong. On the 4th night, they said that they would try to put a new belt on to see if that would work and that I could pick up the car the next day. I went in to pick up the car and was handed a $270 bill. I asked what I was paying for, and they said that I had to pay for the new belt that they put on (that didn't solve the issue, and already paid for a new belt on the first visit) and that I had to pay for the technicians time. I told him that I understand that they took time to look at it, but in total I had paid them $1000 in a 2 week span and the did not fix anything. Since Talkin with Rich, the manager every day for 4 days to let me know that they couldn't figure out the problem, he did not mention that charging me for the time or the new belt that was "tried" to see if it would fix the issue. They put new parts on the vehicle, but the problem I brought it in for still exists. I called the dealership again to get a cost on the second serpentine belt that they charged me $120 for and the dealership sells the part for $75. Do not bring your vehicle to this establishment. Save yourself the time and headache and go to a shop that will actually communicate with you and maybe get the work done you need. I'm not sure why i gave this place 2 stars instead of 1, maybe just because I got my car back, so perhaps the experience could have been worse. Save yourself and steer clear of honest 1. read more

I used to enjoy taking my vehicle here but the service has gone down hill (new manager I believe). I don't recommend anyone use this place. First, the manager Scott does not wear his mask (unless you count around his neck, not mouth/nose). Second, the manager told me my car needed a transmission flush and that he had no record of me having it done there prior. I took his word for it, regrettably. I came home and found a receipt from this same business. I had gotten the flush done just 10k miles ago. Talk about being dishonest! The front office guy is really pleasant, the shop is in a convenient location, and I've had otherwise fine service from this shop that would mean returning with my business, but after a major mistake during a pre-purchase check, I feel taken advantage of. I can't imagine returning without this being acknowledged and refunded, and would not recommend taking your car to them for a pre-purchase check. After paying the 100 (on the website there was mention of the check being free) to have the car checked out, the team made no mention of tires being in poor shape. I know I could have checked myself, but I pay professionals to do these things and expect them to be helpful. Three months later, I took the car in for an oil change and they said I needed my tires replaced immediately (I don't drive much- only about 2k miles over the 3 months, so this was a major surprise), then offered a quote of over 700 to buy tires through them. I feel like I should get a refund on the pre-purchase check since they missed something so major, but nothing was offered beyond an "I'm not sure why they didn't mention this before". read more

UPDATE: I was contacted shortly after posting this and was told they would try to fix the car again for free. We set up an appointment and brought the car in. After looking at the car, they said the issue wasn't what they originally said it was but they would fix it free of charge. They ordered a part and "fixed" my car. Big surprise, it continued to have the same issue. Called them again. Scheduled appointments. Same run around. They tell me it's a new issue but that it's no longer covered under the warranty or whatever so now it's going to cost $450. When I finally have time and money to do this, we call and schedule an appointment 2 weeks out. Two weeks later, we take the car in and guess what? They forgot to order the part. Please don't take your car here. You'll walk in with one problem and walk out with 2 plus a big headache. Honest auto is most certainly not honest. ORIGINAL: Don't expect a long term fix. I brought my car in with several problems and paid over $1000 to have them fixed. After a couple months, one of the problems started up again, a flickering headlight. My husband found that a wire was falling out and that if we pushed it back in, the light worked. So we put it on the back burner. Fast forward to a year later. Another (separate) issue started up. I went down to get a quote and to see if the light could also get fixed again, this time for good. I was told there was no light issue documented on my account so I would need to be charged for it. I told the mechanic at the front desk I had talked to the original mechanics about the issue when I came down the first time and was informed that it had been fixed. After paying over $1000, I didn't want to pay for something I already paid to have fixed. He continued to inform me that I didn't have any light issues documented on my account and this would be the first time it was brought up. Needless to say, I went somewhere else. Another issue they told me was fixed has also started up again and I don't plan on going back. I know cars parts aren't meant to be lifelong but a year is a joke. Far less a couple months. She literally looked and talked at me as though she had never heard questions about cars before, which is imperative when working for an auto shop. I had to stop and ask her if I was irritating her in some way because of how she was talking to me - she said no, that this is just her demeanor and she actually gets told that by customers a lot! Someone like this should NOT be working in customer service. I got a groupon for them. In the Laayoune visit they told me that my brake pads were 98% gone and prescribed pad, rotor and power steering change. He quoted close to 600 for the work. Please know that it is just a 4 year old vehicle with less than 30k miles. I checked about repairing and found "one time" repair in Hillsboro. That guy told me no need to change rotors, power steering fluid is totally clean. Only pad changes are required bbt they are 20-35% remaining. One time rePair changed pads on my 2 cars (6 tires) and changed one engine air filter for 360. Honest 1 was not so honest after all. They also told me to put synthetic oil and took extra 35 dollars in the last visit. Too bad. Hope this review helps other people being cheated by honest one. read more

I purchased Honest-1 Car Care Plan "America's Best Car Care Plan". I was due for Brake fluid flush. In one day they did it twice and in both attempt they fail to do so. In fact, I was driving home with a very unsafe car. Eventually I have to go to Nissan to got my car fixed. From the two attempts that Honest-1, all I can say is that they not only unable to do the job right. But in fact putting their customer in danger. Furthermore, If you are in tight budget, they waste money and time. (the cost for breakfluid and failed, and the cost I have to go to Nissan to fix it) Overall I lost more than $280 dollars. *ABSOLUTE CROOKS AND THIEVES - STAY AWAY * This was without a doubt the worst and most dishonest experience I have ever had with a repair shop. I was charged $130 to 'diagnose' my vehicle even though I already came in with the engine codes in hand with what looked to be a problem with an ignition coil. I was told that all 6 of my ignition coils were 'burned' and the cost would be $1900 for parts plus labor. I received other estimates for $800, $1200, and $1300 from 3 other repair shops that I decided to call since something just didnt't seem right to me with the whole situation I was in. This already indicated to me that I was being massively ripped off but this was not even the worst part! READ ON I ended having my car fixed by a real and honest repair shop. They laughed when I told them that I was being told that all 6 of my ignition coils needed to be replaced. If that was the case the car wouldn't even turn on or run they told me, which it did! This honest repair shop diagnosed my car FOR FREE, and determined that only coil #6 needed to be replaced. I PAID $190 FOR THE NEW COIL PART PLUS LABOR. That is literally 10x less than what 'Honest" Auto wanted from me, and for a problem that did not exist! (1 coil was damaged, NOT all 6) This shop is full of complete crooks and thieves who lied to me and stole my money. They lied and cheated me on multiple levels. Not only did they lie about what was wrong with the car, they added insult to injury by then charging an exhorbitant amount of $1900 to have it fixed! If my gut and instincts were not intact, I would have been down $1900 for a non-existent problem. Stay away from these lying, dishonest thieves. Description Of Work: Took a 2007 Nissan Versa in for brakes. Also did a break fluid flush and transmission flush. Comments: Sat 4/25/2015 I arrived at the shop and left the car. I had already purchased the brake pads and ask if they would put them on. Told the manager if he did not like the pads they could use their own. He said they were fine but, there would be no warranty on the pads. They installed pads on the front as the back brakes were fine and only needed adjustment. I arrive home to brakes dragging and squeaking badly. I decide to drive it for a week to see if it improves. It only gets worse. 5/2/2015 Arrive at the shop and describe that the brakes are squeaking badly both when applied and when just driving down the road. They agree they are squeaking and will correct the problem. I talk to the mechanic when I pick up car and he stated "there were some sharp edges they needed to grind off the pad but, they are installed correctly". I pick up the car and get it home and the brakes are just as bad as before. I let the car sit in the driveway afraid to drive it. I have an appointment with the Nissan dealer for an oil change and will have them check the brakes. 5/8/2015 Arrive at the dealer and they state the front pads are missing the shim kit and the brakes are sitting in there loose. That is why they are squeaking badly. The pads are wearing unevenly since they are not secure. I basically pay the cost to have the brakes re-done and they are fine. Totally quiet and stop well. 5/9/2015 Show up to discuss with the manager. He makes a token refund for some of the labor. He stated is was my fault since I brought in the parts. Does not remember I said to use his parts if there is any doubt. It is troubling that they would let a customer leave when the brakes sounds like it needs a brake job. Brakes are important to the car and I commute in traffic every day. I did not trust these brakes to stop me properly. ------------------- Side note. on 5/2/2015 another woman was in the shop stating she paid $1100.00 for a tune-up and they car died two blocks away. It has been over a year since this happened without any offer of resolution. I see this as an attempt to clean up the well deserved yelp rating that this shop has earned. You are the only decent review that this shop has, your four star rating is based on the fact that they told you that you needed more work done than you actually did not need according to the other shops in the area which stood to profit from the extra work and still chose not to tell you that it was much needed work..... You go on to say that your car seemed better after the work, honestly I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Susan W none of the work that you had done would make your car run any differently at all. GS...... You seem to have had the same mind blowing experience that I had myself, taking the time to rewrite a review after so much time has passed seems to be a sign that you really do feel wronged like I do. I am sure it is nothing that a free oil change over a year later would fix lol. Sally D........ Have gone here a few times since my mom bought a groupon package for some free services and oil changes etc. the first time was to put on a new side mirror because mine had been hit. They put it on fine but the Electric to adjust the mirror hasn't worked since. Second visit- I have an oil leak so I ask them to inspect the problem so I can get an estimate. They have no clue. And say it's probably my turbo which is a $3000 dollar fix. Ummm pass. So I take it to the dealership and it's not the turbo at all. Third visit- I go in for a simple oil change. It takes 1 hour. No big deal but when I'm paying they recommend another 500 dollars for a tune up. I decline because he shows me an air filter claiming it's mine and it needs replacement but I know for a fact it's not because I have my bf tune up my car on a regular basis. Also after leaving the third time a few days later my engine light has come on. Sketchy. So I'm taking it to another mechanic to have it checked. Nice people though. read more

They should change their name to dishonest auto care, i went here to change my front tires they gave me lowest quality of tires and promised a free alignment and tire rotation and delivered on neither. My car turned 100,000 and I decided, for once, not to trade it in but to get it into good condition and keep it. I researched and discovered that replacing the timing belt is highly recommended, for almost all cars, at 90K, and that if the timing belt breaks, the engine is instantly ruined. I didn't wait for a car shop to tell me, which is just plain logical. Of course the shop has a vested interest in selling you service, duh! I talked to three shops. Each gave me a slightly different viewpoint. The sales guy at Honest-1 was personable. helpful and offered me the next to highest priced service. He told me it's really best to do the water pump when you do the timing belt, and explained why. I called the other shop back and that guy disagreed. So here I was, $550 or $900? I called back Honest-1 and went over the details again with John Henry, the sales guy. He took the time and clearly had expertise. I got off the phone, considered all I had learned, and scheduled with Honest -1. I drove over yesterday. They had someone take me home. They predicted 5 hours and almost exactly that long later, they called to say the car was being tested and that they would be heading over to pick me up. My car seemed better. I paid and they explained the service and made recommendations for future service, that all made sense and was really what I wanted to know. Yes, they were selling me, or trying to. But it was helpful. I felt treated with respect and offered what really was the best thing to keep my car running for another 100K. I really appreciated this. The guy at the front desk called and quoted my wife $1600 for work that "needed" to be done. After having someone else look at it, it was determined that only $100 worth of work needed to be done. Also, my brother-in-law called there after my wife did and the guy quoted him a different price. Do not go here. They will lie to you and rip you off. read more

They schedule me to drop off my car for all wheel alignment on Saturday. When I got there. They told me no technician for alignment work on Saturday. Why schedule me? The guy was very rude and unprofessional. Anyway, never again, I go here. read more

I decided to increase the star rating from 1 to 3. Since my initial post on the morning of 7/1/17. The Manager, Bryan at Honest-1 Auto in Beaverton, OR has addressed our issue on the afternoon of 7/1/17. After meeting with my husband, Bryan, the Manager acknowledged their error, when he checked back under the hood to find a spark plug hanging loose which was causing a misfire and my check engine light to come on. Since Bryan corrected the problem, my Ford SUV does not shake and the check engine light is now off. Although I appreciate Bryan's apology to me and my husband, it does not change the 1st time experience. Therefore we will not be back. I simply took my 1999 Ford SUV in for a free 21-point inspection and a second opinion. When my truck was returned that same day my check engine light came on, and my truck started to shake when accelerating or braking. My truck was not in this condition before I brought it in to Honest-1 in Aloha, OR. I returned my vehicle back to Honest-1 in Aloha/Beaverton, OR (that same day). I was rudely addressed by your Manager, Bryan in front of my 5 year old daughter and other customers. This was my 1st experience with Honest-1 and the lack of professionalism and disrespect was jaw-dropping, especially from a Manager. My husband was very upset to know that his wife was mistreated while he was at work. I demand immediate follow-up with this Manager, Bryan. My 1999 Ford Explorer SUV was serviced on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 9:00 am. Now, on top of the needed repairs, I have to also address the costs of a shaking vehicle in regards to the check engine light that only occurred after Honest-1's 21-point inspection. Prior to Honest-1's inspection, my check engine light was not on, nor was my SUV shaking. Bryan immediately disowned the situation, and became aggressive towards me. The Manager, Bryan was not the least bit customer-centric nor cared to have an ounce of understanding regarding my concern. However, I will give Kudos to Matt, the technician who was the most professional during this matter but still did not yield a resolve. So much for first impressions! I will never consider Honest-1 for vehicle repairs or give a referral. Horrible and fraudulent customer service! Very disappointing!!! read more
