Was looking for a trustworthy mechanic close by home and this place came highly recommended. I just needed an oil change and an estimate to replace my windshield wiper pumps. The location was closing early so they said they would call me prior to closure for an estimate on the pumps, he advised the pumps would need to be purchased from the dealer most likely. After leaving my vehicle and thinking about the parts coming from the dealer I opted to hold off on replacing them and just got the oil change done. The price was very fair and when I picked up the car, the mechanic advised me of some issues with my oil pan that may need to be addressed on the next visit, the mechanic was very friendly and very nice. read more

I would give one star but the mechanic, Jim, is a cool dude. If not for him, the owners deserve a low rating. I came in because of a check engine light on a car that hasn't been moved in over a year. The mechanic suspected rats had chewed up the wires and showed me the diagnostic code then told me it's going to be a big job and expensive. I have to get the car fixed.. and both the mechanic and the guy on the phone from earlier that day told me to bring the car in on Monday. They were slammed. Come Monday morning, vroom vroom the car is in but check engine light is gone. Parked it and checked in. Harry at the counter gave me a bill for diagnostic test.. $159.. said that goes to the cost of the repair or if I pick up without work that's how much it costs. Called back that afternoon, 3 times, no one picks up. Instead you get this insane voicemail option where you can only find people by their last names or know their mailbox #. Yeah.. like mechanics have time to check calligraphied voicemails. Called the next morning a couple times before finally getting Jim. He told me they're very backed up and won't get to it till maybe Wednesday or Thursday. But he could smell dead rat from the car. He said it stunk. I didn't notice a thing around the car. By Thursday I went by the shop and of course, the car was exactly where I parked it. Never even moved. I can see watermarks on the windshield it reads 'I've been neglected' all over everywhere. There's no one in the office as usual, Jim was there and thank god he didn't charge me anything for doing nothing. My dad had me all fired up to give them a talking to. Took the car to a second shop and just did the standard and found no rats, no smells, no chewed up wires. read more

Harry Jr was quick, easy to talk with, and did not try to overcharge me for the service. I was driving on the freeway when my skid guard (plate underneath engine) came loose and started scraping the road. I ended up going to Honest-1 because it was the closest auto shop to where I was. When I got there, I talked with Harry Jr asking for a quote on replacing the skid guard. He said he'd have to look at the damage and call Honda to get me an accurate quote. I then asked him how much it'll cost to just take the plate off in the meantime (since you don't really need a skid guard and most people just take it off). He quoted me $30, which honestly seems kind of high as most oil changes remove it as part of the service but it was still reasonable so I agreed to it. He takes off the skid guard, while I watched. And showed me the damage and missing clips. He then calls Honda and gives me an accurate quote, which was really high. Because it was so high, I offered an alternative. My alternative if I can just bend the skid guard back into place and order more clips to put the skid guard back on. And I asked him how much it'll cost to do that. He said he won't charge me extra for that and I agreed. So he bends it back the best he can and then he orders the extra clips. He tend puts the plate back on with some zip ties and sends me on my way. That fact that he could've charged me extra for bending the plate and putting it back on but didn't means a lot. The whole process was fairly painless and I don't feel like I got ripped off. Definitely recommend this place! read more

This is the worst place to take your car. The customer service is horrible. I took my car in for service. I asked for these services: Brake pad replacement, Alignment, There was a small leak somewhere. Also, the TPS sensors for tire warning lights were on. I wanted that fixed too. It's an old Range Rover 2008. Less than 30K miles. I got a call and was told transmission fluid is leaking and had to be taken to a specialist for transmission issues. Part for it ws going to $2800. Parts for brakes won't come in til the next day. I said, hold off on the transmission issues. But work on the rest. Got the call to pick up the car the next day. I got there and brakes were done. Then, casually...by the way, one of your lug nuts broke off. You can run the car with the 4 on there. I said, are you going to fix it? Harry, the guy who is helping me says, Well, it's not factory so it's not our responsibility. I asked him if the other lug nuts had any issues. He said no . I said, how is that my fault if you broke my lug nut. It wasn't broken when I left it there. He tells me that it must have been the people who put it on there. I asked how much would it cost to fix it. He reluctantly estimated that it would cost me over $1800 to fix. WTF? I asked, why wasn't I told about this when it happened? He responds, I just found out about it just now. He also asks me, what would have changed if I had told you when it actually happened? (I don't know, tell you to stop working on the car and inspect what happened?) I am about to lose it. I pay for the service but then I asked, what about the rest of the things I asked to be fixed? Oh, there's a noise in the suspension. I couldn't even do an alignment because of that. (WTF) What about the TPS sensors? We don't do 22 in rims. (Unbelievable) These guys are a joke. I would never recommend any of my friends to this shop. One of my friends warned me about them but I didn't listen. Sad to see a shop like this in the city where I live. read more

Dishonest-1 Auto repair Beware of Dishonest-1 auto care, calling themselves honest-1 auto care! They also have the highest diagnostic fee in the industry at $275.- I made my first mistake, by having them diagnose a check engine light on my Jeep. Their diagnosis suggested that I replace the Jeeps PCM at a cost of around $800.- excluding labor and a secondary source to program the computer (at who knows what the extra cost and time). I decided to take my Jeep to Mandalay Auto in Walnut for a second opinion and to have my Jeep credibly diagnosed. They said that I had a broken connector and fixed my problem at a fraction of the dishonest quote. I ended up paying only $180 USD and I was now ready to have my Jeep smog checked after driving it for 100 miles to re-establish a driving history on the computer. I went back to the dishonest auto place to request a refund of my diagnostic fee; since they failed to accurately diagnose my vehicle. The owner asked if he could look at the repair work done by Mandalay Auto. Stupidly, I granted him access. After his best efforts of pushing and pulling the wires; he successfully dislodged something, causing the engine to run rough and re-engaged the check engine lights on my dash. When I asked him what he had done, he denied any wrong doing. Now I have to re-re-establish the driving history on the computer and another tank of gas! So the moral to the story is to deny a dishonest auto repair place to mess with a job well done by an Honest repair shop. I plan to report the dishonest repair shop to the Bureau of Automotive Repair for their attempted Extortion!!! I hope that this review helps anyone needing an honest auto repair shop and to avoid the dishonest ones... read more

Beware college students!!!!! Crooks!! Charged around 165 dollars for a check engine scan and ended up giving the wrong diagnosis as well. When I replace the "damaged part", the engine light still stayed on for a month. Took car back home and my dad's friends resolves the problem instantly. Ended up not even being the right sensor. Dishonest, incompetent, crooked, expensive corporate chain shop. Took my Chrysler 300 in for a front suspension rattle. These crooks charged me $80 to confirm I had a problem, then wanted another $200 to diagnose the problem! I got the hell out of there. My car lower control arms were improperly replaced by a different crooked shop (American Tire Depot) where the bad noise started. Honest-1 couldn't diagnose the problem because they are incompetent. A competent shop/mechanic will give you a free estimate- and diagnose the problem! This is a corporate chain shop that makes its money by ripping you off with a diagnosis charge. Got the car FIXED in 15 MINUTES at a real mechanic: Phillips Undercar in Upland. That mechanic drove the car, put it up on his rack, checked the front suspension and found driver side components that were loose. He charged me next to nothing. That's what a competent mechanic does. When you get ripped off by "Honest-1" Auto Care, you will be sorry you took your car there. read more

They use 90mins to do an oil change for me, and before the work they said it gonna take 40mins. I won't come here anymore. Many place can do oil change, if they can't make it in 40mins they should tell me, then I won't get late for my work. I don't think they do The starting system check and alignment check, cause after I leave 80$ for them and they didn't tell me what's going on with these two issues. Came in on a Saturday morning. Disclaimer: I've been a customer here for years and have never had problems before like most of the folks here. But today they lost a loyal and long time customer for life. I asked the bald guy at the front desk if he could just listen to my father in law's car, who I was trying to help with - on my day off. I told him if it needed deeper inspection I would be fine with paying the full diagnostic fee. He said give him 5-10 mins and someone will ride with me to listen - but almost like he didn't want to be there. I waited 35 minutes and not a word. It wasn't busy. I asked if he was busy - he was rude and very unprofessional - almost like he had temper issues and was attempting to control my question. I know the father who owns the business here did so with pride and had always done an excellent job of being good with the customers. I'm extremely disappointed in the attitude I saw today. I've gone on to an excellent mechanic who was able to diagnose the issue right away and didn't charge a dime - which I was willing to pay for. read more

After check, I was told to change AC compressor and charge is additional $1791 , no way close to any other quotes. other places are $1000-1200(incl check and repair) and these are top notch repair shops. Would not recommend, too pricey. Customer service is poor, not informed after leaving the vehicle. I have to call and get updates what is happening before the store closes. read more

Bays were full, which means lots of customers. K-cup coffee is nice compares to a coffee pot with old stale coffee. Water bottles are complimentary as well as Internet. They even have a little kids play area, in case you have to bring the little ones. Came in for a FREE diagnosis on my Honda's intermittent starter problem. My son took his Nissan 350z to replace the valve cover that was leaking oil into a cylinder, they suggested to change the valve cover and gaskets, they quoted him 1600.00 to do the repair, he had taken in his car there in the past to replace front end parts and got charged too much for other repair, since he just decided to pay their outrageous amount, the next time he took it in to do the valve cover replacement, they really went for the jugular with 1600.00, I am his father and I did my homework and got a few quotes in other places and most came in between 250 to 400 labor, the parts are only about 250.00 maybe less, so how can the labor come in at 1300.00, I called them acting like a customer and asked the for a quote to replace my valve covers and he asked a few questions and probably suspected I was the kids dad calling, he said he wasn't sure how much it would be and that he would call me back, and it was the same guy that quoted my son the 1600.00 for just one valve cover, he never did call me back, I sounded like I knew what I was talking about because I do my own repairs and have a couple of mechanic brothers. that is ripping off the customer way too much, these people saw my inexperienced 25 year old son coming a mile away, I hope you guys at least be careful and do your homework before agreeing to pay their price, Honest-1 Auto Care is not the right name for this business, it should be "Dis-Honest-1 Auto Care" because they are so dishonest. I had the WOW experience. I walked in and the waiting room not waiting area was nicer than some doctors offices I've been to (keep in mind this is an auto repair shop. They had a coffee machine refrigerated waters and Internet cafe. The restrooms were very nice and clean again WOW. They greeted me when I walked in, i explained what was going on, and he took it from there. The technician Junior was very helpful and knowledgeable. He put me at ease. They ran some test and told me the prices and did the work. I was out on time. They even left me little gift in my car when I was done. The worst of the worst a nightmare. Brought my car in for a simple air sensor replacement after two weeks of them telling me they ordered the wrong sensor. I told them to either get the correct sensor or I can buy the correct one. Harry was not happy with this and said I can come by and pick up my car. When I arrived he said he had not placed the car together. He removed the old sensor and placed it back into the car. Then a couple of days later he said come by and pick up the car. He said pick it up at 5:45 pm. When I arrived the car barely started when ai asked him what happened he said he couldn't find the air flow seal. The car is not the same he ruined my vehicle. I believe he did this out of spite. I gave him the opportunity to at least fix the car the way it was prior to bringing it in and he refused. Please stay away from this place. They are far from being honest. Avoid this place like the plague. They are not practicing any type of COVID protocols no one is wearing a mask. Stay away and go elsewhere. Again stay away. read more

Service is usually quick and painless. The shop is clean and even has a little reading nook for kids. They have a coffee and water station that you can help yourself to. The man was super sweet and accommodating. Do they do a decent job? Yes, they do. But are they specially different? No. While the word "Honest" is clearly in their name, you are well served - whether here or anywhere - to exercise appropriate skepticism. Ask questions about what's included in their service and, most importantly, shop around. That is of course a luxury when your car is on the fritz and your time is valuable. But no mechanic, including these guys, are immune from taking advantage of a less-than-fully informed consumer. To be fair, they are no worse than your average garage. They offer drop off and pick-up service, and their wait area is clean and spacious, with unusual amenities, such as a toddler play area and an internet connected computer. I called last week to schedule a synthetic oil change and was quoted on a price that was just over $80 including tax. I showed up for the appointment, and the price somehow increased about $15. When I asked why the price was different, the mechanic told me it was because of my engine's size, but I explained I told the person I spoke to on the phone how many liters my engine's capacity was when I made the appointment. He broke out a calculator and firmly started a patronizing breakdown of the price and wouldn't budge, concluding in him asking if I wanted the oil change or not. But hey, I did need an oil change, and it seemed they needed the few extra bucks more than me, so I wound up paying the man. Being in business, I know that sometimes miscommunication can happen, fine. Could've been handled better, and I doubt I'd be writing this review except... I get my car back about 40 minutes later, and on the hood are some grease streaks on my finish that was neglected to be wiped off. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this right away. However, I did notice the mileage on the reminder sticker that's supposed to show how many miles my car was at when I got the change was marked at about 2500 miles less than the actual mileage on the odometer. Been looking for a good shop to get my honda fixed. Not sure how many mechanics they had that formerly worked at Honda but I was made aware that Jimmy and Harry Jr had spent many years working at Honda. Had my front and rear brake pads replaced. The prices for parts and labor were reasonable and competitive. At other shops, what I hated was the uncomfortable or no waiting area. This place has a shuttle service, internet, a tv, complimentary drinks, and leather seats. That means they'll take you your house if you don't want to wait around or somewhere else like Starbucks or to work or school or to a restaurant to get something to eat. Also, it's family owned and everyone I came into contact from the mechanics like Jimmy and Saul to the owners Harry Sr, Harry Jr, and Kandie were all very nice and personable. I think it's a great business and plan to be a repeat customer. read more
