"Honest" -ly lol, I wanted to steer clear from fast food, bar food, overly processed/unhealthy foods tonight. I was going through Yelp as usu and came across Honest. Come to find out the place has been around for 7 months (according to the guy working behind the counter). Apparently, this place is a chain and is located in other major cities and countries such as Bangkok. This is a meatless joint. All vegetarian - capeesh? Which was fine by me. Sometimes, I get grossed out by beef and chicken (I don't eat pork) and just want to stick to non-meat dishes. The lady was super friendly. She told us we could pay at the end in case we wanted to try other stuff and said she typically doesn't do that for people, but b/c we were first time visitors she would allow it. She came to check on us throughout our dining experience and said if there was something we didn't like, let her know and she'll fix it. Well, that wasn't necessary. Everything we ate was pretty legit to say the least. We will be back to try out some other things on their menu. Here's what we got: Starters - Pani Puri and Vegetable Pakora (photos posted) Meal: Cheese Bhel (plenty for two - hubz and I shared...again photo posted) Dranks: Mango Lassis And that pretty much sealed the deal peeps . *FYI: If you're not into plastic and paper silverware/dishware...forget about it. Everything is disposable. Except the trays. Those are tin and you gotta return them. If eating off a paper plate and using a plastic fork and spoon doesn't bother you - carry on my friends!! Found myself in Decatur for a quick lunch which unfortunately turned into kind of a mess. Yelp helped me locate Honest restaurant and I was really happy to find a place that served Pav Bhaji (think Indian street food with Sweet Hawaiian Bread) Walked in and was greeted right away which was great. I asked the cashier what was good and he said Pav Bhaji which I was happy about since it was their specialty. I asked for no butter and he said it already came with it and if I wanted one without it, it would take 20 mins to make. I was like, no, it's okay, I'll just take the one with the butter since I was in a hurry. Pav Bhaji came out to be roughly $8.50 or so and I gave a tip so it was about a $10 lunch. Well, the lunch crowd rushed in right after that and they kept servicing their to go orders and the lady that came before me still haven't gotten her food after almost 25 minutes. I understand they were busy but we were here first. I went up to the counter and said, "Hey, can you just make my order to go? I have got to get out of here, I'm late for my next appointment." Literally, without 2 minutes, he apologized and said your food is ready if you'd like to eat here. Pretty much, all they had to do was scoop and my food would have been ready 20 minutes ago but yet they chose to service to go orders first. This was a very disappointing experience and really makes me not want to go back since there are so many other options for Indian food in that area. This was good, but not great. The cheese masala pav mixed with bhaji was too decadent for me, but my friend really liked it. The Masala Dosa was very good, as well as the Chana Dal. The vegetable pakora was just bad... A few onions and potatoes with very thick breading We got the food to go, but waited a long while in the restaurant, which was cool and the staff and other diners were very friendly. I would not recommend getting food to go. The food was disassembled and had gotten cold and soggy by the time we got home, but the food was hot with good presentation for dine-in customers. read more

This place used to be a Gujarati buffet place and recently got its management changed and the name updated to Honest Retsaurant. This is located in the Patel Brothers complex. The restaurant is small but food is really delicious. Though it looks crowded from outside, it's not too difficult to get a table. We ordered Masala dosa and it was delicious and quite a size. This is a huge chain in India that they recently brought over to the US. We ordered the Bhel Puri, Chole Bhatura/Puri and Pav Bhaji. All items were very flavorful. The Chole seemed a bit undercooked and oily but with some lime it was decent. Pav Bhaji was probably the best dish we had. The best Pav Bhaji anywhere outside Mumbai!! Always order extra bread, it is sooo good. Fried in Amul butter!! Yum! Next time we plan to have fried Mogho (yucca). Great place in the Patel brothers complex. This is one of the Indian restaurants that you can get some awesome food in a quick timely manner. This restaurant is not that pricey around 7-8 dollars for a dish and super filling. It smells great when you walk in because there food is defiantly fresh. I have gone there twice and it does not let me down. Now talking about there food, you can never go wrong with there pav bhaji. That is the best dish they have, and one other dish that is a favorite is there Indian amul cheese pizza omg. its something they do differently super saucy and they can put extra cheese if you'd like. There cheese dosa is amazing to but tell them to put light cheese because it will be overwhelming. The chutney's they have there are awesome ask for some extra sambar and green chutney to dip your food and indulge. Overall in this complex this is the place to go, you can even get a vegetarian thali this place is great for vegetarians and not for meat eaters. I went the first week it opened but I wanted to wait until I went a couple of more times to make sure the food was consistent. I'm proud to say the food was excellent the first week it opened and has been consistent every time I went (6+ times). The food seems incredibly fresh and really flavorful. It's spicy and full of masala and really reminiscent of the pav bhaji stalls in India. The portion is a good size for the prize. Ordered delivery here for the first time and as we say in India - it was FIRST CLASS !!! Had the plain masala dosa and the idols and both came with sambhar, coriander chutney and coconut chutney. First the idlis- being a native South Indian, it's pretty hard to get a good idli that's perfect from a restaurant. My mother is a supreme idli maker (in the sense she makes perfect idlis) and Honests' was somehow beyond perfect!!! The idlis were dense, smooth and airy. Just what I had been craving! Next the sambhar- delicious! Not too spicy, not too sour, perfect! Impressive! Coriander chutney- I'm not the biggest fan of coriander chutnies, I prefer a good onion, bell pepper or tomato chutney any day, but I'm sure they included it to cut the spiciness from time to time, and there-in, it did its job. The coconut chutney- wooow! One of the best I've ever had! And this is after living in south India for 5 years from 2007-2011 + 2014!!! My mother makes a killer coconut chutney too but she spices it Andhra style - as that's where she's from. But Honests' is creamy, thick, plain and delicious!!! Really one of the best. I don't know how they do it- shh I bet it's a secret. And so it should be! It's unseasoned and somehow out of this world. It's sooo sooo good! The aloo- I called ahead since I saw Swaminarayan style on their menu - and they informed the SN style is with no onion, no garlic!!! Yes!!! Score!!! I love that stuff. An aspiring medicine man with a passion for Ayurveda, I love that they get it!!! For those who don't know onion and garlic are avoided in Ayurveda because onion makes one hot headed and garlic does the opposite - it makes one go "under" in a way. In addition they heavily stain and malodorously get into body secretions as anyone whose smelled onion, garlic on their breath or on their sweat can attest! It's gross! I digress, back to the food. The aloo mash for the dosa was perfect. It was seasoned just right, the perfect consistency, with little pops of green chili to brighten your day and raise your pain tolerance. Created the right kind of burn in my belly, and most importantly- left a smile on my face. :). Go SN style!!! You won't regret it. The dosa was awesome. Made perfectly, folded well, definitely a quality dosa. The prices are reasonable and totally worth it! Madras Mantra used to be my go to place in Decatur for South Indian food what with its connections to the famous Madras Chettinad in Alpharetta, but Honest takes the cake hands down! We had a party of 7, and had a fantastic time. They have three styles of thali, and offered three levels of crispness for their dosa. Offered spice level customization. There was a round potato fried spiced disk appetizer that ROCKED our world. Like potato disks 65 style. Lassi came with the thali. Employees were HAPPY, AWESOME!!!
