I'll give you a honest opinion Don't expect much in terms of service. This is an Indian restaurant and you know the type of staff they employ - not ones who will be attentive. Ordered pav bhaji, pani puri and dahi puri. The hot dish came out in 5 mins. It's been 18 mins since ordering - I have yet to get my simple pani puri dish. When I asked one staff member he asked 5 other people in confusion about my order. I come to find out my food was never placed but they were happy to collect the money but not happy enough to go find out about my food I had a staff member come tell me - their cook had to go to school and didn't make our food. I'm sorry last time I checked restaurants have staff scheduled for those who are leaving. But I guess this was my problem because school was more important. Anyway as I write this - I am still waiting on my food. You bet I will be not be returning. What a disappointment !! read more

Sometimes we need to travel a bit to find good food and this place surely make the trip worth it! Being vegetarians who miss their street food from back home, we keep looking for places that serves good food and Honest(ly) doesn't disappoint! We ordered- They are famous for paav bhaji , so it has to be ordered-hence we went with Special pav bhaji- buttered paav tools served with bhaji that had generous sprinkling of cashew and a big dollop of butter! Choley bhatura- chickpeas curry served up with big size puri(fried bread)- not very spicy curry and hot hot puris.....perfect... bonus was the gulab jamoon and the pickles that was served with the main dish! Dabang dosa- a fusion dish that combines the crepe from the south india, veggie masala stuffed inside from north India and generous amount of grated cheese on top.... Woah.... Absolutely delicious!! And coming from the Southern india, most of the sambar( the dal and tamarind based gravy served as a dip for dosa) doesnt get above B+ in my ratings but this one is surely an exception that i actually packed the few teaspoons of leftover to take back home To wash it all down, i had ordered masala soda- soda that is mixed with spices... do give it a try!! A lady walked by my table and spilled an entire cup of lassi on me. I asked the gentleman behind the counter for a towel and he replied with "I'm sorry we don't have anything like that here. You can go to the bathroom and wash off and then use the hand blow dryer." At this point I am still dripping in lassi and the cheap napkins are not doing the job. Terrible service. read more

I have many great memories of the honest restaurant. I have visited many times in India (Ahmedabad). When I knew that we have the same honest restaurant here in Atlanta, I was very excited to go and order my all time favourite and one of their speciality dish "Pav Bhaji". I felt the pav bhaji was mediocre. I do feel that the food taste could be improved a bit to match the Indian street food taste. The restaurant was pretty well set up, service was very good and very friendly cooperative staff. However, the washrooms were not cleaned. This used to be Chopatti and I liked its buffet. Now it is a franchise branch of Honest Restaurant under the same management. Some dishes have stayed the same but now they feature the Honest Restaurant bhaji pav dishes as well as some other new dishes. It opened up in mid 2017 and has developed a new set of followers who come for the signature Honest Restaurant dishes. I originally wanted to come here because one of my Facebook friends got a great looking big dosa from here, but once we got here I realized that we needed to order some fun dishes for Robert who loves bread, potato and cheese dishes. Here's what we got. Cheese masala pav mixed with bhaji. This dish is basically a variation of the bhaji pav dish (vegetable gravy curry) with chunks of bread mixed in and cheese on top. (The other bhaji pav dishes come with bread on the side.) Definitely for people who like bready kinds of dishes. Lots of flavor too. Robert loved it! We also had the tokri chaat which is a fried potato basket filled with spicy chat - very, very flavorful! I liked this one a lot. It's quite large for chaat. Also scores high on the crunch factor. R calls it an Indian chaat version of Irish nachos. Finally we had a rava masala dosa, which is a wheat version of dosa with the potato stuffing. Lovely!! The chai tea is strong, the way we like it. The sweet lassi was also very good - thick and full of yogurt cooling power. We will come back so I can try the big dosa. We are also curious about the pizza. Pardon the hyperbole, but I had a religious experience eating the Bhakhri Pizza. The Pav Bhaji brought me back to the street foods of India and the Chilli Cheese Paratha was sublime. We also had the Chef's Special Dabangg Dosa which was straight out of a "fancy" South Indian dosa places in India. All in all, great quality food with a taste that is on par with actually eating in India. For anyone familiar with Indian street cuisine, you know that the former statement is the highest compliment for an Indian restaurant in the US. The owners are friendly and helpful as well! Living in a other busy city I was used to eating South Indian food from several different restaurants. But this place really hits it well. First of the the cleanliness of this restaurant is amazing. Starting from the counters, kitchen, restrooms and even the staff dresses up wearing a suit. Second, their rules of not blocking a table before ordering which makes it very easy to find a seat after you order. Third, the quality of the food was fantastic, delicious, delectable, flavorful and scrumptious. Fourth, their prices are very reasonable and they fit anyone's pocket. Last but not the least the customer service was amazing!!!! The owners along with the staff go out of their way to make you feel like you are a guest and they respect your privacy and keep asking if you like the food and need anything else. We tried this place out on a Saturday evening. There was a line at the door. There is no table service to order. The place was jam packed inside the restaurant. So much so it was difficult to walk around. It was quite noisy. Children were allowed to scream and jump up and down at their tables. This was more than one table of kids. My friends who we met there ordered dosa and they had to wait for over half an hour to get their order. Food was mediocre. I will not go back there. Also, as a final note the line to get get grew and grew. The place inside was chaos with so many people. This is one restaurant that has consistently served fresh and flavor food every time I have visited. My only issue with this restaurant (and many other similar India restaurants) is the way their Kitchen is organized. It looks like the Kitchen is focused on a food item and not on an order. We were two of us and ordered one Veg Pulao and one Pav Bhaji. Both in my experience are quick to assemble. We were told when we ordered that our order will take 20 minutes and items will be served as they are prepared. Please understand that is not OK for the following reasons: 1. Some people will be waiting while others eat. This is a cafeteria model and not a restaurant model and does not give your customer a good dining experience. 2. Your tables will be occupied for a longer period than required when you space out delivery. Which is bad capacity utilization and not good for business. If two people took 30 minutes to complete a meal that consisted of 2 items that are quick to assemble, imagine what will happen to a larger group of say 4 or 10! At first when I read vegetarian restaurant, I immediately thought I was going to dislike it. Not the biggest meat lover, but I am no vegetarian! This type of Indian cuisine is quite different from what I am used to experiencing. I am used to the naan, butter chicken, & chicken tikka masala. This is very different. & not in a bad way either. I came here with a group of 4 of us. We ended up trying their Chatni Puri, Dahi Puri, Bhaji Pav, & masala dosa. The masala was a huge crepe with soup. My absolutely favorite was the chatni puri. All right, so before I dig into writing the review about this place, I would like to say that I have been to the Honest chain of restaurants (it's an Indian chain and they have opened a franchise in Atlanta) over a couple of dozen times. So this visit was more out of nostalgia then anything else. Also, I had been to Chopaati earlier and I had a great experience of that place. However, I was not that thrilled with my visit to Honest. We ordered Pau Bhaji and Bahubali sandwich (a jumbo sandwich with multiple chutneys and sauces). The Pau Bhaji was quite up to our satisfaction however, the sandwich was kind of mediocre. The food is fresh and delivered to your table quickly. My wife ordered the cheese pav bhaji which is served with vegetable curry and the amazing pav (bread). The Chana Puri is truly one of the most amazing things I've ever put in my mouth...you should go just to experience it.
