We got the 6 people combo and ordered the prime rib and galbi and some other side dishes a la cart. All of the beef were good, no comments on the pork cuz I didn't eat them. This by far is my favorite Korean bbq place!! We drive an hour to come here. Their quality of meats is unbeatable. I prefer quality over quantity. It isn't all you can eat and I'm okay with that. They have different combos. We always get a pork and beef combo. Their ribeyes and pork belly are my favorite. So tender and delicious. Was have also ordered the side mushrooms, Brussels sprouts and cheese corn. They are a wonderful accompany to the meats. I just wished they had the fluffy egg side. This place is great! First off, this isn't your normal kbbq experience where it's smoky and loud, blasting k-pop, and all that. Instead, it is a pretty fancy, quiet, and upscale restaurant where you choose your selection of high quality meats along with potential side dishes that you may want to add. I have been here a total of 3 times and every time it was very good service, quality, and environment. The staff are very professional and also help with ordering process in case you want to know what are options are best for a certain # of people in the group. It's definitely pricier than your usual kbbq, but the quality is a couple of notches higher. This is superior korean bbq dining, one of the best I've had. My husband and I drove an hour and a half to try this place out, and it was worth it. We ordered the premium beef guide for 2, which came with dry-aged ribeye, ribeye cap, prime short rib, and marinated galbi. The quality of all the meat was excellent, and just melts in your mouth. If we had to choose a la carte, I would go for the dry-aged ribeye and ribeye cap. The others were good too, but those were probably our favorite. It came with a soup (soybean) and a side (brussel sprouts), but we ordered an additional side (steamed egg). The egg was the silky kind which was a nice touch. The service was also excellent, with our server cooking for us and constantly checking on us. My husband usually doesn't like mustard, but he enjoyed the dipping sauce, which was sweet, and I enjoyed dipping my meat in salt. The standout for me though was the side dishes. All of the pickled veggies were perfectly balanced (radish, pickle, 2 kinds of kimchi), and it made the meat taste even better. Honest Grill is touted as an upscale KBBQ place so we selected it to celebrate my sister's retirement. When we came in, the entrance was hot and humid. The air improved once we were seated. The meat quality was decent and the tofu soup was delcious. However I think the panchan selection, quality, flavor and portion was very much lacking. 3.5 stars. I had high expectations of this place after my friend raved about it. I got really excited when I heard they had dry aged steak. I love KBBQ so its a win win. This place reminds me of Cote in NYC/Miami, but it's just not nearly as good. The service was great. I was let down by the taste/quality of the meat. It just did not justify the pretty high prices. I went with my family and we had the signature beef guide and the dry aged ribeye. We actually liked some of the beef in the set menu more than the more-expensive dry aged ribeye which we thought was weird/funny. Centreville is a far drive for me so I most likely won't go back unless I am in the area. I will stick to the KBBQ restaurants that I love around Annandale. The restaurant setting was nicely done. It's great for groups small to medium size. Their seating is bench style and it limits the tables to 6 normal to 8 super tiny people. It's not too loud (i.e., loud music). The meat that came out in our order was fresh and just about the right portion of fat. It's good. The servers were super attentive. They grilled the meat. We went to Honest Grill for a special occasion recently. They seem to be going for steak house meets KBBQ vibes, and doing a decent job of it. I am a little conflicted with how to review this. The meats they serve are good, but also very expensive. It is like paying to go to a high end steakhouse, but I don't know if the meat quality really justifies the cost. In an area with so many great, good quality KBBQ options (all you can eat ones at that!) I am curious to see how Honest Grill finds its niche. You can bring your own wine and they will uncork it free of charge, which is very nice especially if you are going to a nice occasion. Lol. My friend doesn't have any of those physical attributes but this was one of the first Hawaiian bands I saw live a decades ago & I was so happy to see her!! My brain works in mysterious ways. Just hearing the word "Honest" must've been the key... *shrug* Some of you may know that I've lived in Hawaii for majority of my life. Music & food are my true loves. Piano & guitar (although I doubt I can play either anymore), Italian & Mexican/Korean cuisines. They all play the strings of my heart effortlessly. My friend was visiting me from Hawaii & I had heard mixed reviews about HG just based off on cost. Quality was never questioned. I've eaten in some very "high end" & "low end" KBBQ in & throughout South Korea & HG definitely reminds me of eating in Korea... yo an extent. I do feel HG is currently the best KBBQ in the DMV based on quality of meat. Kogiya was nice & there are other KBBQ in the DMV that do have "premium sets" but I have yet to find one in the DMV that rivals HG. Even though I've rated HG the same as Kogiya. I'd choose HG any day. See below for why.., I'm one to enjoy quality over quantity any day. I'm willing to pay premium price as long as the food delivered to me meets the expectation for grilled meat. Tender. Juicy. I'm a firm believer that meat should "stand on its own". Pardon the pun. I want to taste the meat. Marinades, while delicious, tend to hide the beefy or porky goodness. Also, most are too sweet for me. Ask for lettuce, ssamjjang, garlic & jalapeños if you eat your KBBQ that way. I didn't ask as I forgot & it wasn't delivered to us (automatically)... The banchan was average. As they say... you get what you pay for... HG is definitely not cheap although you can opt for other menu items. I didn't even get Steven's last name because I was so happy with my experience there. Steven served us and he needs to get promoted. In fact, not promoted because I need him EVERY SINGLE TIME I'm there. He was THAT awesome. Give him a raise! That man knew exactly what to do with the meats we've ordered (dry aged rib eye, marinated galbi, prok belly and the capacero), his timing of refills and not intruding our space(s) was impeccable, any question we had, he was able to answer them with confidence and his overall service was perfect. When I say he knew what to do with the meats we've ordered, I mean he flipped the meats once, then when they were ready, he would cut them up and serve them. He would explain to us each meat and where they came from. You go to Iron Age, Honeypig, any other KBBQ joint and I GUARANTEE you they will ruin the low quality meats even further by flipping them a thousand times, cutting them up incorrectly and splashing the oils all around. No, not this place. There's a reason why this place is so highly rated. Everything from the ambience, environment, music, service and food - it's all something you must experience to understand this place is alien. No other KBBQ, not even Meokja Meokja comes close. Banchan 8.5/10 - A fresh and different take to the typical banchan. Normal salad 9/10 - super refreshing, light and subtle flavors. Onion salad 9/10 - perfect complement to the meats. Soybean stew 9.5/10 - no other KBBQ comes close. This has real and strong flavors of fermented soybean. Dry aged ribeye 10/10 - Prime grade, good marbling, funky aftertaste but not too strong, super juicy, slightly crispy outside, tender inside. For prime quality, this was perfect. Marinated galbi 9/10 - we all know the flavor, but the char grilled taste, slightly crispy and at the same time super juicy and flavorful meat, makes this great. Pork belly 9.5/10 - pork all tastes the same, right? Every where true, BUT this place. Who could have thought pork belly would actually have a different taste? It's not a huge difference in taste, but you can tell by the texture, flavor and aroma that the pork belly they serve here is unique. Steven would apply the perfect amount of salt to the point where sauce is not needed, but not only for the pork belly, but to all the meats! Capacero 10/10 - imagine pork belly, but juicier, more tender and stronger flavor! Scallops 9/10 - perfectly cooked and flavored scallops with asparagus. Beef tartare with uni 9/10 - creamy, savory, slightly sweet, crunchy, smooth and subtle but great flavor combination. Cod roe, fish roe, uni rice bowl 9.5/10 - multiple flavor profiles that makes this dish a must try! It contains mayo. Triple corn cheese 9/10 - can't go wrong with this, but apparently most places do. The cheese on the bottom and sides with some buttery AF corn, imagine the texture and flavor! Out of the 30+ Korean restaurants I've been to in the DMV, this is in my top 3. If there's 1 place that will always be worth going to, it's this place. I wish I could give one star. This was my 4th time here and probably my last. I came here with my husband and young son for Christmas Eve dinner and was sat immediately. Unfortunately, it started going downhill. We ordered the 3-person combo and were so excited for the food. Our initial server was terrible at cooking the brisket and managed to undercook it and it was super chewy. The problem was that the grill spattered grease up! He told us there was not enough water and added some. The grilled popped another time, and our son got super scared. This is the first time we've encountered this at any Korean bbq restaurant. When we say popped, literally fire in your face. Our second server was much better as our first one got busy with 3 new tables and stopped paying attention to us. The grilled popped a third time, and the oil actually splattered onto my husband's face. Our server got the manager and this is why the one star! He proceeded to mansplain to us why the grill was being like and blamed the servers for it! He offered us complimentary cake and more sides and/or free stuff the next time we went. We nodded and say thank you. He never came back, and we never got any of the things he offered. He honestly didn't seem to care at all. I had never seen such bad management. I wish we had been more forward and just refused to pay for the meal or ask that the cost of the meal go to the second server as he helped a lot. After this terrible experience, with the bill totaling almost $200 (we tipped as the second server was not at fault and they share tips, on top of it being Christmas Eve). I never leave reviews because I try to be understand but this was too bad of an experience not to share. Just know that honest grill doesn't care you as a customer and only cares about money. Good service overall, but could tighten up a bit. Nice decor and cozy ambiance. Good side dishes apart from the cabbage/spring onion salad which was quite rich, spicy, and overpowering. This would be better if it was lighter and added acid as the more typical seasoning style. The lettuce for wraps was a little soggy. The meats were high quality with good marbling. I would say more 2.5 stars but will round-up for a local business. My mom wanted to try this place for mother's day and even made reservations very far in advance. The day of we were called and asked to bump up the reservation an hour later but there seemed to be a miscommunication with the hostesses and they considered us to be late when we arrived. It seemed like there was a lot of miscommunication with the reservations and hosts as we noticed the manager scrambling to fix the issue with other customers as well. We were offered a free appetizer which was very nice of them! Drinks: We were able to try out the cocktails but I was very disappointed. They really do need to get some nice cocktail glasses instead of standard water/soda cups. The cocktails themselves were very bland. Since they recently came out with the cocktails, I think there is major room for improvements. Food: We opted for the pork guide and beef guide. The only cut of meat that was memorable for me was the dry-aged ribeye and marinated galbi. The beef tartar was good, I would add a bit less sauce since the sauce overpowered the beef a little. I do wish it was served with something crunchy like bread or crisps that would compliment it. The egg custard was good, there were a lot of chunks of seafood in it so I think it was worth the price. Service: Here is where they can improve the most. I understand it was a busy holiday for them but they should be more prepared or maybe consider reducing the number of tables seated. We were really confused if we were supposed to cook the meats ourselves or have the staff cook them. I honestly didn't mind cooking it myself but once in a while a server would take over and flip a piece that I had just flipped a second ago so it was counterproductive. There seemed to be a lot of miscommunication between the expo and servers, expos would bring us other table's food and vice versa. The cap of ribeye is the muscle that sits on the backbone and is very seldom used, so the meat is very tender and only 6-8 pounds is yielded from a cow. +They use chunks of beef fat to season the grill. +The concept is pretty cool, but they could use some improvement. Two examples: 1.) better explanation of some of their premium beef and pork offerings; i.e., zambuton and iberico bellota? Labelling beef and pork with fancy names is not going to make it high-end. Do you guys still use Snake River Farms or D'Artagnan meat products? Where are the oysters from? How many days is the meat dry-aged for? 2.) customer service/communication - the table we were sitting at had the grill malfunction on us, so we were moved to another table. The chef owner came by and brought us a soybean stew, saying it was complimentary due to the trouble of moving all of our dishes/drinks/belongings to another table. The owner intentionally told us "Here is a soybean stew, as an apology for having to move tables. We usually charge customers for this dish", which came off a little weird when all he had to say was "this is on the house" or something to that effect. There was no need to emphasize that the soybean paste stew is something they charge customers, when it is clearly on the menu with a price. -Would be nice if they also used charcoal like some other high-end Korean BBQ places I've been to, across the U.S. -Some of the tableware was not clean; i.e., seasoning jars were extremely dirty and not wiped down. I came here for my birthday with a total of 7 people and the waiters were very polite even though there were several of us making a lot of requests. The mister and I came here for our anniversary. KBBQ is usually the one thing we always agree on, but I wanted to try one of these "nicer" spots instead of an AYCE. We had such a great experience trying the premium beef menu, the seafood pancake, and the Sea Urchin & Cod Roe Rice. I also appreciated that they continued to check up on us to make sure the meat wasn't overcooking and told us the best time to take bites. The second round of meat was about to be cooked but seemed like they had to keep walking by to grease our grill with the piece of fat several of times .. like 5 times before next round of meat was placed on the grill and this happened the entire dinner .. so our dinner lasted for almost 2 hours ... The meats were ok... nothing to write home about .. Although I paid almost twice as much the first time, the second meal was just as enjoyable. If you are on a budget you should definitely just get the regular beef combo though. I was wowed as soon as I walked in! The ambience was so upscale and classy and booths were comfortable and cozy. The menu was recently updated and we went with the Marinated Beef Guide option (short rib, ribeye bulgolgi, rib finger, galbi) at approximately $95 for 2 people. We ordered the samgyeopsal and corn cheese a la carte. We went through the samgyeopsal first which was good but pretty standard. The way I like to eat samgyeopsal is with the meat dipped in sesame oil, topped with some pajeori and ssamjang, and wrapped with red leaf lettuce. They didn't have most of that on the table but I can't knock them down for it because each KBBQ joint has their own set of sauce and banchan. I just wouldn't order the samgyeopsal from here next time just based on my own personal preference. When they brought out the marinated beef plate, I was salivating! I really enjoyed the delicious aroma while it was cooking. The meats were soooo tender and juicy! You can just tell it's very high quality meat and the marinade was tasty. The corn cheese appeared to have 3 different types of cheeses but while I'm glad that we got it as a nice extra side I don't think I would order it again and would just concentrate on the meats. Service was also good. I felt like we had two servers that tag teamed and were pretty attentive the entire meal so I never felt the need to cook our own meats ourselves. We made reservations for 7 PM but got there early so I had called ahead to see if we can be seated earlier. Staff was very accomodating and got us seated at 6:30PM. We got the premium beef guide and sea urchin with cod roe rice. The rice was soooo good and creamy! Its definitely one of the things not to miss out on. When I first saw the plated premium beef guide, I thought we were not going to feel full from it but I was wrong. We couldnt even finish the marinated galbi in the end! I enjoyed the rib eye cap and prime short rib the most. They melted in mouth and was very tender. The dry aged ribeye was good but I personly wouldnt go out of my way to get it again. It had less of the "melt in your mouth" feeling and was more chewy than the other two but it was still flavorful. The set did come with soup and complimentary rice. I went there last Friday for my very first time I was surprised they aren't very busy on a weekend's night. The atmosphere, the food, and service are awesome! The price might be on a a little high end compare to other local Korean bbq, but the qualities are definitely worth each bit :) I was satisfied after dinner Highly recommend! Holy cow! Lots of hype and it's just hype. Truth be told or better yet to be "honest" here's the low down! I've read the many reviews from others and am gonna lay it out there. Our group of 7 ordered the beef guide and the premium beef guide, a few pricey pork entrees and some appetizers! Yes! We also checked in on Yelp for the free sodas. A couple of us at Elites so we were excited for the check-in offer. The food was good, the portions were ok, not generous. Don't bother with the appetizers. Seafood scallion was not cooked and was very soggy. So sad because it looked yummy. The beef guide(- platter of NY Strip, Skirt, Galbi and rib fingers) $170 and the Premium Beef(dry age rib eye, ribeye cap, Prime cut of short rib, more Galbi)... wait for it $300. .. the hype included "we do all the cooking", not the case, most of the tables were cooking their own or as you can see from my pic, your food would be burnt. It was almost a 3 hour event. Oh and check your cuts of meat, we ALMOST got a regular beef platter instead of the prime cut we had ordered. Thankfully we asked and they corrected. The side dishes and sauces are not like other Korean bbq places. Service was definitely lacking, you will be cooking yourself, and you will definitely be waiting for your water refills etc. Yes, it was Sat nite and they told us they were NOT used to the crowd.... This is my favorite restaurant of late. We love Korean BBQ and this was suggested by a foodie friend of mine. We love that the tables give you much more space than a normal Korean BBQ where you always feel cramped. The meat is very delicious and high quality and they have unique offerings like lamb...but the brisket is a must. The sides you get with your choices are yummy. Two different kimchis, pickled cucumbers and my favorite is a green onion and veggies salad (not sure what it's called). The Shiseido peppers and the garlic Brussels sprouts are great choices for the special sides! This is not an all-you-can-eat place. For the same price, you can get higher-quality offerings and can take home your leftovers. Highly recommend! read more

We have been here several times. Meat are really juicy and tender. It's friendly to kids too. Not a lot Korean bbq places have kid's menu, but Honest Grill does!!! Our kids loves kids menu and they always order Marinated Short Rib Galbi set. They include rice, side, meat, dried seaweed, and juice. We ordered Marinated pork Galbi and Galbi for lunch today. It was so good with all sides. The dinner set also good too. We have tried Signature Beef Guide for 2 and Combination for 4. We love this place. It's clean, comfortable, and good for party and family dinner. I highly recommend this place for your dining. read more

Worth it? Yes-ish Repeat? Yes! 5th time now + Beef Guide is still good. Not belly busting full but good quality beef +Beef Tartare is still good and probably one of the better ones around NOVA Beef Noodle Tartare was okay.. just not enough flavor and the tartare just doesn't taste as good mixed in with the noodle/sauce... rather just get regular spicy noodle. +++Cod Roe Sea Urchin Rice!! The meat here is very good. If you are going just for the meat and not any of the side dishes or salads, then this is the place for you! I was talking to the server and he mentioned how the restaurant has butchers at the restaurant. So, they cut up the meat right then and there and do not refrigerate, so the meat is extra fresh! I am not sure if there are any other Korean BBQ restaurants who do this as well. The meat guide included: NY strip, outside skirt, galbi, and marinated rib finger. My favorite was probably the NY strip because it just melted in your mouth (I think it was the most expensive too!). Second would be the galbi, which is just a classic. My least favorite was the marinated rib finger because it was just too sweet. I also got the spicy cold buckwheat noodle, which was better than the other places in the area. I wished the flavor was stronger though. The noodles were not spicy at all to me, just sweet. I also wish there was more vinegar in it, but that just might be my personal preference. Overall, I gave it a 4/5 because of the salad option. I personally love eating salad with my meat and a hardcore fan of restaurants that have their own unique salad dressing that I could never imitate. Well the salad here had Italian dressing, which was very disappointing for me. There was also the green onion salad, but that lacked flavor as well. The other sauces to eat with your meat was also not too special... Oh also, the restaurant vibes are very nice. The place is well-lit and gives off a fancy Korean BBQ place! This place is SO SO good. AH!! Fellow Muslims should rejoice at having another halal kbbq spot. All of the beef, lamb, and chicken options are certified halal! They can even show you the sticker label of where they get their meats from. The quality is incredible. I thought beef was beef before coming here, but the breadth and flavor is SO good. It's a flex to serve salt as a condiment at kbbq. Their honey mustard sauce tastes very sweet, honestly no mustard at all, and is ESPECIALLY GOOD with the prime galbi. Their ssamjang (red sauce) is so garlicky and savory. The banchans are delicious and it's awesome that we get to pick 2 additional side dishes. I'd recommend the soy bean stew, the mushrooms, or the egg, but would recommend staying away from the cheesecorn (not my favorite). Also, their dry aged meats are INCREDIBLE!! I cannot recommend enough to my fellow Muslim friends. Compared to the only other halal spot in the dmv (gogi yogi), this place knocks it out of the park in location, atmosphere, food quality, and price. It's cheaper than gogi yogi but much better in quality and seems so much fancier. I love it! The service is also very friendly. Excellent attentive waiters always walking around! This is such a vibe you guys! Different from other kbbq places. We decided to go all out and get the Premium beef guide (check out the video to see what comes with it). All the meats were very high quality and we really liked the kimchi stew as well. The egg custard is def a custard and not your typical egg dish in other kbbq places. So if you don't like custard, skip this one. Next time, I'd opt for the Sea Urchin and Cod Roe Rice instead. I think next time we will come back to try the a la carte menu more so we can pick the cuts we like. But all in all, a good time! This is on the pricier side but I do recommend trying this place out. I am so glad to be back in Virginia after two years away. The first place I eat when I got back here was this place. Awesome from the start. From the front of the house to our server, the attention is outstanding. Outstanding vibe as soon as you walk in. They are glad to tell you everything so that you can have a great experience . This place is not for the faint of heart when it comes to price, but it is worth it. They have all premium servings of beef and pork to go along with all the sides you get. Aged wagyu dry and wet. The Brussel Sprouts are absolutely wonderful, wow.. very nice. The kimchi's they bring out were all very good. The kimchi soup was a bit salty. The scallion salad was very good.
