There's a reason these guys have low reviews. Listen, don't waste your time, nor money. Honest John's is not so honest. My house was sold a few days ago, and new owners started moving in today! My agent found this company to certify the septic for escrow docs and pump. There was a previous company that came before Honest was called by my agent, the previous tech sprayed pavers, said he'd have to dig up, then out to my front gate, blah blah an entire mess they would have caused. Another horrible company that didn't know what they were doing. Now, mind you, I'm at work, hired an agent to take care of my sale. I receive a call, and it's from the office manager, Roxanne?? Or whatever her name may be- so RUDE! She called me and started with, I'm calling because (name of agent) isn't picking up, so have to call you( still have no clue what this is about) she sounds aggressive, and she starts making up elaborate stories about 2 companies coming out prior and the grass is marked at pavers, that's where her guys also measured it to be, they have to pull out pavers, and my agent was adamant that this must pass?? Blah blah, running her mouth nonstop. I had to cut her off, let her breathe. First off, never call owner directly. I hired an agent for a reason, second, don't call with an obnoxious, rude, abrasive tone, when I had no clue as to what is going on. And third, don't tell me where my tank is, when I know damn well where it sits, not on pavers! I interjected and cut her off.. and even in the midst of it, I could hear her talking to John at a distance and repeating what he was saying, in a low tone to where I couldn't hear. She lashed back and said to me- Well I'm tempted to pull away from this job! We're not gonna pass it anyway because it's too close to the column blah blah shut up already. I wouldn't want to be married to her. ( woah..lady, don't threaten me.. ) I told her, please do, and I hung up. Called a company, that I was referred to and had them connect with my agent, they were there next day. Zero issues, dug under grass, dirt only, no pavers, no need to dig all the way to my fence.. pumped and certified.. Certification sent to escrow, and owners are now occupying their new home. So I'm a new home owner don't know shit about septic. I didn't know the location of the septic so they use the probe and make a bunch of holes all over the yard not even close to the septic to find the septic at the corner of my house. Long story short I had to remove 18 inches of concrete fucked myself so I can get it done. They charged me 255 but I gave 300 they had no change for moving the dirt which had exposed one full lid fully and the other had concrete on it which stopped the job. Because the 18 inches. So I get it done. Call them back. They truck caught fire or something when I was ready so I had to wait a week. They charged me a new $530 and it took maybe an hr for them to finish. To me I feel like I shouldn't have to pay for a complete service which means they made $785 for a $530 job. Now Jake said he had a text saying that I had a $300 credit and balance which was $230. So that's what I paid. But I get a call saying no you have to pay total of $490. Smmfh but I called and got opinion from other septic companies and they clearly said I wouldn't pay anything cause no work was done. We won't charge you for digging the dirt like they did. USA septic is only $370 with lids exposed in my city. Good side of it Jake was cool he broke my water pipe and came back to fix it. Thanks though it's done and water under the bridge. So if you use this company know where your septic is located, expose the lids, and make sure the tops are clear so they don't charge you 2x for the same job read more

I very seldom write Yelp reviews, only when something is exceptionally good or bad. My experience and interaction with Honest John's was TERRIBLE! The job was to take six (6) days. It took over three (3) weeks, the representative for the company was extremely rude to me on several occasions to include cutting me off mid sentence a few times! No return calls also. My yard was destroyed in the process of this job. They left mounds of dirt all over One so high it literally was as tall as the eaves. When I called to ask when they were coming back to clean the mess they made they had no idea the job wasn't complete? They broke a waterline in my front yard and when I brought it to their attention, she said they're not going to repair it...It's in the contract that we are not responsible! I asked as a courtesy for them to repair the waterline they broke to compensate for their horrible customer service and they said no! This is my second time having Honest John's help with my septic at my home located in Hesperia. They were fabulous as usual and exceeded my expectations. Such awesome people work there. ROXANNE is absolutely amazing! She is the sweetest and so helpful and understanding. She helped me set up all of our appointments, our quote, our payment arrangement. She also went out of her way to email me a picture of the parts of our yard that they have to up root to get a new septic system in. She even gave me some contact information on landscapers that could help us put our yard back together. I just really appreciated how much she went above and beyond to help me after the RUDE people at Burns Septic treated me like crap. Shawn is the gentleman that pumped our septic again at Honest John's and he is still a great guy! Hasn't changed since the last time he came to my home. Let me start from the beginning of my experience. My husband and I listed our home for sale months ago and someone made an offer so of course we had to have a septic inspection and pumping as part of the sale. Our agent , who we know and trust greatly, hired another septic company that she has used for the last 20 years for her other clients and never had an issue with. So we trusted her and went with them. They came out and the guys were ok. They talked to my husband and kind of walked him through what they were doing and in the end said that our septic tank is completely deteriorated and the seepage pit had sunk. We were bummed to hear that we need a whole new system but not super shocked since our home is over 30 years old. Long story short , the guys at Burn's only pumped half of our tank even though they charged us over $700 for a pump and certification. Their front office girls were EXTREMELY rude and their head Boss guy that quoted us on a new system was unreliable. Their quote by the way was HIGH. And to top it off, their rude office girls were insensitive to the fact that all this work was going to demolish our front yard/landscaping. I didn't like Burns at all, I hated how they treated us and how they spoke to us. So I went with my first choice against my realtor and called Honest John's. After they confirmed that we did need a new system and their quote came back thousands under what Burns was quoting , there was no doubt we were going to go with Honest John's. The guys that came to replace it were also great, came on time early in the morning of the appointment, it was a big job but as soon as they saw how landscaped our front yard was, they were so considerate and let us know that they can't save every bit of our yard but if there was anything in particular that we really want to try to salvage - what would it be, we said our light posts. And you know , they did save it. They worked hard but carefully and in the end they didn't destroy our yard as bad as we were anticipating. And a few days later after the city approved it, those guys came back and covered the holes With dirt and my yard didn't look too beat up. They really did a great job and my husband and I really appreciate the kindness , integrity and hard work that all the wonderful people at Honest John's Septic showed towards us. read more

Honest Johns is the absolute best Septic Service Business in the High Desert! Jake, Austin & Eddie came out for our service and we're extremely professional while being polite & friendly. They are sticklers for safety! Kept us informed the entire time. There was an issue with trying to find a gas line & not hit it. They went above & beyond to ensure safety. Finally found out that the line was buried much deeper than normal. I highly recommend them!! Roxanne in the office is great & made sure we fully understood the service & all details. Our experience turned into a nightmare. It started out good enough but then it turned really bad. The owners are nice, but they have some people working for them that just don't take enough care. They broke our mainline twice. Once before the City Inspector got here and once after he left and had signed them off.. They tried patching the lines with 90* angles. Our inside faucets and outdoor front yard faucet all got messed up with all of the debris that were coming through our lines. The owners came out and told them to replace that part of the mainline, but it was too late. There was just too much debris in the lines coming into the house. Little rocks, PVC pieces, and a bit of rust. They told us to just keep running the water and it should clear up. It didn't. It made it worse because it clogged up the lines/faucets even more. They just didn't take any responsibility for the messed up lines and even our washing machine runs more like an old fashioned wringer. I have to watch the water intake. Their plumber took out the filters and threw them away. He told us that he would come back the next day to help again and we even offered to pay him and he ghosted us. He didn't respond to texts, etc. They haven't responded to us sending them receipts for what we had to pay out because of their negligence. We had to hire a plumber and pay him. He advised us what we needed to do to do a whole house system flush, and he cleared the bathroom sink that we had already tried to use a snake on. He used a machine operated one on it, and it cleared it. They left the back yard a mess with big rocks piled up and a walkway that is missing steps. Another plumber came today to say that the way they left the back yard will probably result in pooling up of rain water/flooding where it shouldn't be. I am very disappointed. Roxanne is the worst person to answer the phone for this business she was demanding a payment to a repeat customer myself that has reached out to have our septic pumped for our rentals because she could not get payment immediately she threatened to have the technician throw the shit back into the septic which was very unprofessional uneducated and no class and she thought that it was a laughing matter that I didn't want to buy her plastic Septic lids for 65. I asked her if I can get a better deal and she laughed and said this isn't wheeling deal which is very rude and this is not the way that people or customers repeating customers should be treated so never again will I use this company and I will continue to give this company a bad reputation throughout our community of Apple valley. Honest John's Septic Service destroyed the concrete on my drive way in Apple Valley in two locations by driving thier heavy equipment onto my driveway. The cost to repair the concrete will far exceed the cost of $4,995 to relocate my sceptic seepage pit. They make you sign a property damage waiver. Don't sign it. Management would not take any responsibility for the driveway damage catastrophe. A simple metal plate located on the edge of the driveway could have prevented the problem. Better to pay more with a reputable company who will take the time to prevent the damage from happening in the first place. Don't waste your time, call a reparable company unless you're willing to stand over these people and babysit them. They told me my septic tank was sucked out completely clean within two days. Had water seeping up through the dirt. Had to have a plumber come out thinking there was a clog he dug up the septic tank lids as they were not even bolted back Down as he remove the dirt, the lids lifted up, and the holes filled with water and poop and the whole tank is still completely full, they are trying to tell me that the whole tank will completely fill back up in a week they are telling me it is not their problem and to come and suck it out is another $635 now I have to have another company come out to do the job they didn't and I had to hire an attorney do yourself a favor stay away read more

It's very sad to me we pay a lot of money to have things done right we had them put in a leach pit which then 4 years ago cost $3,200 my leach pit is completely full broke not working only 4 years old. I called but before they answered I already knew they were going to come up with all the excuses of why it might be broke, Example how many loads of laundry I have 4 people in this home that should not even be an issue. Then I was ask to take the washing machine hose outside and let it drain on the ground(that is illegal code enforcement would be there real quick) Then the manager came to my home and opened it to see it was full & still did nothing only got a quote of $5,200 and they could pump it for $1,000 Really? I would not give them another dime they know there leach pit is faulty its a real shame. This should have lasted me 10 + years not only 4 years it's a shame they don't stand behind their work. read more

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience. We understood there will be unforeseen issues as a result of having septic replaced, but many items we experienced from the septic removal appeared to be just careless. I get they couldn't lay a tarp down to save the rock from our landscaped front yard, I even understood breaking water lines to our trees and grass, but to break wiring to our ground lights and breaking a few feet of curbing was a little much. I understand there is damage, but the extent of this damage was just careless. I called the business and informed them of my concerns. Chelcea was rude and refused to assist me, until I mentioned I left a review on yelp. Her attitude changed and she offered for me to send pics to her. I did, but didn't hear back from the company. A week later I had to follow up and received a call from an employee from the company, who informed me that I just didn't understand how this work was done and proceeded to blame us for having them doing the project. "Not" so Honest Johns.. I called them for a septic Cert for my deceased moms house.. It took them almost two weeks to come and told me the pit needs replacing and a tree removed costing around $3700. I decided to get a second opinion. The pit was fine and he said the tree roots helped keep the pit dry. I saved thousands of dollars. "Not" so Honest Johns still charged me $700 and within a week had a lien placed on the house. I would strongly suggest anyone not to use "Not" so Honest Johns. read more

I wanted to put risers for my septic tank, but I recently just got my septic tank pumped about a month ago and I called the company that did it (not Honest John's) and they said my septic tank was not able to have risers on it, but they didn't give me too much information. I called Honest John's for a second opinion and they said they would happily map my septic tank and also see if it is possible to put risers on so when I get my landscaping done, the contractor would know where they would not place plants. I spoke to Roxanne and she was very helpful and knowledge in regards to septic tanks and landscaping. When They showed up to my house, Victor was nice enough to keep me updated and he confirmed that risers are not able to be placed. However, I now know how deep my septic tank is and where it is located and I wanted to make sure I left a good review because I felt that they went above and beyond on what I needed. read more

Disaster from beginning to end and the only good part of this story is Honest John's Septic SERVICE (emphasis mine and deserved!!). I contracted to have my septic service done a little ahead of the recommended schedule because I recently...covid recent...doubled the people in my house. Honest John's first flagged me that I might be able to wait a bit. One star for HONEST. Still I wanted it done, the pipes were making weird noises. They did the work as contracted and left. Immediately my bathtubs, shower, and toilets started backing up! I called in a panic and they had their field guys call me immediately. Turns out there was a blockage that had nothing to do with the septic. Two stars for service because they now provided suggestions on vendors who could help right away. They called back a couple of more times before the day was out. They earned those other three stars two days later when then came out to do some other work and found a broken pipe. When our septic pit leech line sunk and broke we were not sure what work needed to be done. Honest John's was recommended by a plumbing business that did not do work on septic systems. From the initial estimate by Honest John's to the completion we have nothing but positive remarks. It was necessary to relocate our pit and a 32 ft "hole" needed to be dug. Even with the amount of earth moved there was minimal "mess". The guys that came out worked quickly and efficiently and when it was determined that the overflow needed to be pumped additional crew arrived within the hour and completed that task. Chelsea, the office person took care of ALL necessary phone calls, including the appointment with the County Inspector, and kept us informed by phone of times crew would be at our house. Aside from having to redo some landscaping, mainly gravel ground cover, the trench refill is barely noticeable. We feel that their work was professional and that our concerns were met and that they are very competitive and reasonable in their costs.
