    Mac & cheese with brisket
    Mark C.

I ran into this business because they also own a food truck that will show up at various cultural, arts, and music events in the greater Phoenix area. I decided to try their mac & cheese with brisket. So for $14, this was pretty small and the food was lukewarm. Although it was unique to have brisket that was sweet, I've had better quality brisket at other places. Overall, the food taste was pretty forgettable.

Lost of things to choose. They do special stuff. 1 lb. Beef Brisket, greens corn bread, potatoes salad, and Mac and cheese.

The food is so good. Service and you're treated like family place was clean like eating at a country barbecue spot. Bathroom were clean. We love the food, but mostly the people are the best.

The glorious entrance positioned nicely between a used tire shop and a gay bar.

Nothing says Van Buren St like honey bears bbq. Withered by the sands of time this place is a Phoenix original. Their sauce is the boss and the meat is smoked under the valley of the sun. The bun is no fun, but the sky's out for the sides.

    Buffalo Mac and cheese

I had high hopes walking in because some of the best bbq I've had was in a run down gas station type of location, but sadly this wasn't really the case here. That being said, I want to preface the review by saying I did not actually have bbq and that was my biggest mistake! The food I had was a buffalo chicken Mac and cheese, and I was pretty disappointed. The buffalo chicken completely overwhelmed the Mac and cheese, and the small bit of Mac and cheese I could get without the buffalo was soggy and underwhelming. I had fries as well, and they were also pretty soggy and the ranch was definitely not homemade. The space was empty and the entire sofa machine was broken, with only ice and tea working. The service was pretty subpar, just a couple of teenagers in literal pajamas. Overall I'd say if I did give this place another chance, I'd stay away from both items I tried this time

The meal. Catfish, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, and peach cobbler.

First, I had this delivered, as I had no desire to deal with Phoenix traffic woes. The order came with no serving ware - weird, as any other place that I've had deliveries from come with the handy package of a fork, knife, spoon, and napkin. Next. The catfish. Rated as the number one dish. I'm from the south; I love catfish! This one was too salty, and it came with Tabasco sauce. What? Where is the tartar sauce? The coleslaw was really good. The macaroni and cheese was a mushy disappointment. It looked really good, but it was seriously gummy and way too soft without texture. Nice flavor profile, though. Good seasoning. Not worth the calories. Peach cobbler. It was pretty good. Warning - super sweet, which can be ok. Have a drink of something nearby to help. Again, no texture, but that's really ok - it's a cobbler.

Best pulled pork sandwhich in town!

They also have outdoor seating with fans and mist to cool you off. I took my order back to the hotel. Let me tell you, the food is phenomenal. That brisket was so moist and perfectly seasoned...gosh it was so good! The pulled pork was fantastic as well. The potato salad was great and definitely made on-site, not from a bag. The beans were really good too. I was really impressed with their offerings and will definitely go back on my next trip to Arizona.

Had a good score (4.7) so we decided to give it a shot Nice place inside. Decorated with veterans in mind. Has a similar setup to Rudy's where you order/pay up front and they call you up when it's ready. Was kind of worried because the place didn't smell like bbq. Ordered the turkey and jalapeno sausage with a side of bbq beans. Has a selection of six different bbq sauces at the table. I wasn't too impressed with any of them. There is a mustard sauce up by the drinks that was pretty tasty tho. The turkey was dry. The sausage had decent spices but the skin was a little tough. Neither had a bbq/smoky taste. The beans tasted like canned pork and beans with sugar and bits of brisket added. All and all I wasn't too impressed and probably won't be back. The staff was friendly and helpful and I was hoping it would be better

The concept is simple: order your meat by the pound, pick your sides, grab a dessert, and snag a beer, specialty soda, or fountain drink on your way to the register. The dining room is basically a redneck cafeteria, and I mean that as a compliment. Long community tables, no table service, and everything is self-serve. Honestly, I prefer it that way. I can grab as much white bread as I want, refill my own drink, never have to flag someone down for napkins, and I've had some great conversations with other patrons. The brisket is consistently good, and I always order it moist. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is another favorite, but the baked beans deserve their own mention.
