I love that they have the sauces on the table so you can go as light as you want or drench that meat lol. I had the brisket moist and it was good. My son and god daughter had the pulled chicken and said it was dry they dont care for BBQ sauce but like the juicy smoked meat. The bread pudding was good and they had plain brownies at the registers. Staff was super nice. Lots of seating and they are military supporters but dont give military discounts but the person at the register shook my friends hand and thanked her for her service. We thought that was nice but a discount would have been nicer. Plenty of shopping nearby. Prices were not great. Higher a la cart so a meal ends up being $20-$25 a person.

This place has been my favorite place to eat since visiting AZ. Who doesn't like BBQ? It has a wide selection of food soft drinks and sides. Service was excellent and the ambiance inside is great. They have football on all the walls from navy football to firefighters and police men and women. The food was very tasty they give complementary small drinks to all children. Plenty of seating outside and inside. Everyone in the establishment was so nice and welcoming 10/10!

Pulled pork, potato salad and cornbread.

Service was friendly and responsive. They explained how things worked for us. I got pulled pork and potato salad. The plate comes with corn bread. I tried several sauces but the Smokey mountain was my favorite. Potato salad was excellent. They gave me a generous portion of pork I even took some home. My husband had pulled pork and classic sausage and baked beans. He said it was all excellent! His favorite sauce was the honey hot. Worth a try if you're craving BBQ. Very clean restaurant and extremely friendly employees.

You can see your food being prepared.

Top notch service. I stopped in for meat to go and I wasn't thrilled with the way it was cut. No problem. They remade it for me with no fuss. I wish I lived closer. I probably said that in my original review!

Visited this place for the first time for lunch today. Conveniently located right on Cactus in Paradise Valley on the cusp of Scottsdale. Super clean entryway. Tons of ample parking. Tables and chairs were clean. Plenty of seating for you, your family and your closest friends. Walk in. Place your order. Fill your drink. Find a seat. Pop a squat. And chow down. I went with the brisket sandwich. You can order it lean - with all the fun, fat and flavor cut right off. Or you can order it moist - full of fun, fat and flavor. I opted for fun. The bun was fresh. The brisket was flavorful, tender and each bite made me full of glee. I opted for fries as my side They were a wee bit on the salty side for me but still full of flavor and nice 'n hot! Pricing was reasonable for what you get. Their claim to fame is there's no microwave nor freezer which would indicate everything is made fresh to order. Not quite sure how they're pulling that off with a smoked meat menu, but I'm not here to challenge their business model - just informing you of what they informed me. I'll definitely be back to try other meats. If you're looking for a smoked meat joint, give these peeps a try!

Mission BBQ New restaurant that opened up at the old Paradise Valley Mall along Cactus Rd. Wanted to see what Mission BBQ has to offer in BBQ. We ordered the Moist Brisket which seemed more like Lean Brisket, wanted that taste of a little bit more fat infused juicy brisket. Brisket was just a bit dry for Moist Brisket, added bbq sauce to help a little Sausage is always a favorite of mine so if you have good sausage, generally it comes from bits of your brisket, ribs or other meats to combine a good flavorful link. Their sausage was good to okay. Smoked Hawaiian Ribeye sounded like a winner but was on the dry side and a little tough. Baby back ribs were good, probably the best entree that we had tender and flavorful. Cornbread is another favorite of mind with BBQ and was delicious. I very much like what the restaurant stands for and their support of the military

Tried out this new BBQ spot in Paradise Valley with high hopes, but unfortunately it missed the mark. I ordered the sampler to get a feel for everything, and every meat on the plate was dry and served cold -- brisket, chicken, pulled pork, all of it. Not what you expect (or want) from fresh BBQ. On the upside, the sides were decent and came out hot, which was at least something. But when you go to a BBQ joint, the meat should be the star -- and here, it just wasn't. If you're looking for a spot with a similar vibe but much better execution, I'd recommend checking out The Thumb instead. Better flavor, better quality, and you actually leave satisfied. Here's hoping this place can work out the kinks, but as it stands, I won't be rushing back.

The smoked turkey sandwich was pretty good. It had 3 thick slices of turkey. There was no option to add onions or pickles and the bun was standard. The turkey didn't really distinguish itself, but was good. I tried two of the six sauces. Also its $6 to add a side and drink. The sides are tiny, so I passed. Sandwich was about $10 59.

I love the concept!!! I was there with an officer from the marines. It made a huge difference in his day to have veteran parking. It's the little things that really honor our men that served!! We then ordered. The food was nice portions and we loved all choices of sauces... I ordered the sausage and brisket and mac n cheese - excellent . They also give back to first responders and military personnel/ causes. Love that we had a great meal and supported a great cause.. try it!

    Salmon with Coleslaw side

Great BBQ Ambiance with lots of photos and meaningful quotes inside. The food taste is also good but could have more of a smoker kind of BBQ flavor. The Salmon at $17.49 was a little too dry and didn't have much of a spice rub on it. It also was not moist as indicated. The Sausage was so-so but much better than many other places like Foley and Boo. The coleslaw was the best but if they can add some crunch to it like salted peanuts, it would be a winner. Soda machine area wasn't clean and one side was not even working. Overall, we liked it but they can improve on the BBQ taste. Sauces especially the Classic was delicious. Cornbread was way too sweet.

I had the brisket and pulled pork plate (I also wanted to try the ribs and sausage, but they were already sold out!). That gives you an idea of how popular they are. Great service as soon as you enter. The young staff were super nice and polite...great job by them. The indoor space (with cold AC to fight the Arizona heat) is small but clean and comfortable. They also have outdoor seating with fans and mist to cool you off. I took my order back to the hotel. Let me tell you, the food is phenomenal. That brisket was so moist and perfectly seasoned...gosh it was so good! The pulled pork was fantastic as well. The potato salad was great and definitely made on-site, not from a bag. The beans were really good too. I was really impressed with their offerings and will definitely go back on my next trip to Arizona.

Both come with 2 sides and I enjoyed all their options. The beans have chunks of meat and a bit of spice, the slaw & potato salad are lighter than your usual mayonnaise laden standard. The brisket & pork ribs were melt in your mouth tender! No knife required. The chopped brisket was moist and perfectly sauced, served on a delicious potato bun. The staff were all very friendly. This is definitely not a place to sit at if you don't have to. Very small inside and not much to look at. Now, weather permitting sitting outside and admiring their smoker might be a good option. It's a beauty!

Comfortable, sorta on the dark side. Classy. As I was not driving today, I decided to try their smoked Old Fashioned. Excellent -- and the dark cherries they use are the perfect addition to the cocktail. (The glass is coated with smoke from a smoldering piece of pecan wood, and the cocktail was served with a cloud of smoke under a coaster covering the glass.) The pig sickles ( ribs) were the perfect chance to make a pig of myself. Had the two meat plate, pig sickles and barbecued pulled chicken, If you like corn, you must have the side of corn with your dinner. The barbecue beans were delicious. Our server did a magnificent job tending to our drinks, appetizer, and food orders -- despite being very busy (the place was packed! -- and seemed like she was in constant motion. Very nice individual who liked la Prices? It was expensive, but the best barbecue always is. Eating isn't cheap. It was well worth every dollar spent. All in all, it was a perfect dinner. The perfect parting gift: a small paper bag containing four small donuts, coated with cinnamon. Our bag didn't make it home... I think we've found the perfect place to bring our family and out-of-town guests for dinner.

People come here for the meats: brisket, ribs, pulled pork, BUT!!! Have you had this GREEN CHILE BURRITO?! I beg you to try it if you have not... most people don't know they even have it, but luckily, for my coworker and I, Director of Operations Matt, walked up to us as we dined in last Wednesday and let us sample the Green Chile. As most of you know, I can't hang when it comes to spicy foods, but this chile is THE EXCEPTION (even though it's only "mildly" spicy). We each ordered the 2 meat plate, but we were so appreciative of the sample he gave us, otherwise we would never have known about it. We ended up ordering 2 burritos for our lunch the very next day!! You can also add cheese to it! I went in again for the 3rd day in a row on Friday, since I'm not sure when I'll work in that area again (I was 10 min away all last week)!! I asked my boss if I could work there on Mondays and Fridays, that's how good this burrito is!! They also have a MEAN Pecan Pie. It's called Bekke's Smoked Pecan Pie and it too, is a must try item! Matt told us it's a secret recipe from one of their employees and the crusts are hand pressed daily. Using a machine is just NOT the same, and I believe it! Since I am not sure when I'll make my way back there, I also bought another pie on Friday. So far, I've only had 1 slice because I need to ration accordingly! Prior to my 3 visits last week, I went to this location last July, when a friend was visiting from out of town. The place is clean and welcoming, and they have the best customer service! On Thursday and Friday when I ordered online and picked up, my orders were ready before the estimated pick up time! Mark was at the pick up window both times and he rocks!! I had forgotten to ask for the Banana Pudding I ordered on Wednesday when we dined in. I called as I drove home, realizing I left without it. Amanda was super friendly when she answered the phone and assured me I would have it when I came the next day. Mark delivered and had it in my bag the next day when I picked up our burritos. Service with a smile is what you'll get here! You cannot go wrong no matter what you order here! The meats are absolutely perfect and the flavor profile on everything is mind-blowing! Do yourself a favor and ask for the Green Chile anything next time you're here. Tell them I sent you! Don't sleep on the Banana Pudding or Bekke's Smoked Pecan Pie, either. Something about that smoking process makes the pie stand out from every other pecan pie you've ever tasted, trust me. It's also NOT super sweet like you're probably used to. If you call in, you can't place an order by phone, so do it online and you'll get a text with an estimated time of pick up. You can skip the line inside, too. Just walk up to the pick up window and you're good to go when you ring the little doorbell. There is plenty of parking outside and they even have a large patio space should you choose to dine outside. Thank you, Matt, Mark, Amanda and the rest of the crew at Little Miss BBS Sunnyslope for such a pleasant experience every single time!! I will be back for sure! Don't forget to try the Prickly Pear Lemonade (spiked with vodka -- my choice of poison)! enJOY!!

The concept is simple: order your meat by the pound, pick your sides, grab a dessert, and snag a beer, specialty soda, or fountain drink on your way to the register. I can grab as much white bread as I want, refill my own drink, never have to flag someone down for napkins, and I've had some great conversations with other patrons. The brisket is consistently good, and I always order it moist. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is another favorite, but the baked beans deserve their own mention. They're loaded with bits of shredded pork that add both texture and smoky flavor, making them one of the better barbecue sides around. Rudy's is one of those chains that doesn't feel like a chain. I thought the beans would have a bit more flavor, but I've never been a bean kind of gal. You will need to try it for yourself! The Hot water Cornbread was great. The texture was a little gritty, but still yummy. The shape is what caught me by surprise. It was round and flat almost like a pancake. The service was outstanding. Friendly and hardworking. The food came out in good time. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Has a warm but rustic vibe. I would most definitely revisit this spot whenever in the area.

The whites stayed north because local industry made real estate in the southside less desirable. Slaughterhouses and rendering factories gave south Phoenix a black cowboy population. Sure, there are cowboy groups in California - West Oakland and Compton - but these guys are all LARPing. That is, they're playing the part. Weekend warriors. The afro-vaqueros of Phoenix are dyed in the wool, real deal westerners. So anyway, it's in this milleu you find AT JL BBQ. Alongside said cowpoke, you may, as I did, dine next to a couple 304s. It's an active neighborhood, what can you say? Neither here nor there, but the ephemera that adorns the walls is different than what you might find at a soul food place. It's decidedly more American as such. Speaking of the signage: one of them reminds you that bbq is not fast food and that a patient temperament is of the utmost. Yet, the smoker ain't going. The Cue been cooked. As for the sides, no one does greens and Mac n cheese a la minute. So if everything is prepared, why do I have to wait? I kid. I jest. The girl behind the counter was all by herself. Gave great recommendations. And even gifted me a bottle of water On this visit, brisket was sold out. Late afternoon: makes sense. They had pulled pork. Bites of the smokerd rendered fat therein had the effect of rocket fuel. Pork belly was even porkier than the aforementioned shredded butt. Ribs pretty good too. Mac: ultra cheesy. Pot liquor from the collard greens came in clutch for hydrating the more dry pieces of pork.

That pastrami- I'm an east coast girl--- like someone's mother made it in her crock pot! To put that on some bread would port you to NY or Jersey, STAT! The ribs are perfectly DEELICIOUS and cook out approved. Frijoles, ooooh nice, savory and filled with slow cooked love. The service is FABULOUS! You feel welcomed, it's very down home neighborhood feel. Me and my family went. (The 3 of us probably made too much noise.) but Eric's makes you feel relaxed and kicked back because the food is the show! It was our first time and there's no rushing you through the order process and they explain how it works, happily. It seems that everyone is humble and makes you feel like this is their love language. My family, the 2 of them had a burger and fries, chicken wings, pulled pork and brisket with Mac n cheese and cole slaw. When I reached the table, they both said the brisket was the best they've ever had! I feel like it's priced right! It's family style, so ordering by the pound makes so much sense. We ordered separately, but we each have good amount of food leftover for a day or two for me. We wanted to try SO many foods. We discussed needing to get the banana pudding next time. We all live downtown Phoenix but coming out to the suburbs for this, was A PERFECT TREAT for a Saturday dinner. My colleague suggested Eric's and WOW, she was SO ON POINT with this suggestion. Oh, they brew their own tea daily. Sweet and unsweetened. Oh, how could I forget the MUSIC! OMG, THE MUSIC! 70s RnB, SOOOOO COOL!!!
