So my boyfriend apparently raved about how good the food was at this place and since we ran out and purchased a smoker he decided that he had to have some of Honey Bear's bbq sauce in our home. So last Sunday we jumped in the truck with our fur baby to head out and run errands so while we're were out we headed to Phoenix to pick up sauce. I stayed outside for the most part since we had our dog in the truck I did however go in long enough to look at their menu it was small inside and the girl at the counter wasn't very friendly. What I didn't realize is that he decided to get lunch to go he ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a side of mac and cheese. I wasn't impressed at all the hamburger bun was so soggy that you couldn't even eat the sandwich and the pork had absolutely no flavor to once so ever it this was a soggy, plain tasting hot mess . The Mac and Cheese was cooked but here again lacked any flavor I personally wouldn't eat it again but by the sauce it's the only thing that has any flavor to it. read more

We went non-traditional for our employee Thanksgiving meal and decided to use Honey Bear's BBQ. The service experience was troubling as we kept reaching out for confirmation and had many delays in getting communication from their catering dept. On the day of our meal, we called repeatedly and were told they did not have the order even though we had received a confirmation. The meal was delivered over an hour late and the peace offering was a 5-piece order of cornbread for a 20 person catering order. If you want your team to eat on time and enjoy it, don't order from here and definitely do not expect good service. read more

And well they are expensive but you are paying for the long cooking times best pulled pork I ever had cooked for 24 hours no idea how long it takes them but man it is great and will support them. This location has been here for ages and is a little run down visually and is easy to miss driving by but they do have good food. Today, the lady at the checkout counter was very friendly and eager to help. The food was taken to go and was well packaged in styrofoam containers which helped to retain the heat. Even the slider rolls were still fresh and warm by the time we got them home. The prices are a little high for the portions but to be fair, this may be tied to the current meat shortage. I could be wrong about this as I haven't been here in a few years. If the prices were a little lower I would have given them 5 stars instead of 4. We paid over $50 for a total of one pound of meat, two smaller sides (beans and greens) a few slider buns and two small individual peach cobbler desert scoops. We got the brisket sandwiches, with fries for my husband's side, and mac and cheese for me, along with more 2 more orders of mac and cheese for the kids, a slice of sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, and some Kool-Aid. So, we didn't get the Kool-Aid, which was strike one. The brisket was dry, and lacking in seasoning, but the sauce was decent. My husband was upset that the sandwich didn't come already put together, but I assured him that was normal of BBQ spots, and tried to give y'all a chance. We tried the fries, which may as well have been frozen, as cold as they were. The mac and cheese had nice flavor, but it would have been good, if it was hot, and wasn't a Stuart Little-sized portion. The desserts both could have used more time in the oven. It looked and tasted like whoever was in the kitchen just threw some canned peaches and uncooked puff pastry in a container and called it peach cobbler, and the sweet potato pie, was just as underbaked and just as disappointing. We called in an order for a family event. Spoke to Anna and we knew what we wanted to order. She told us she would take care of it and send a payment link. This was at 11 am. Payment link was not sent until 3:45 our pick up time. When I arrived to pick up order there was confusion on payment end. The food was ready and it was delicious! The ribs were best we have ever had! The cole slaw was so good. The BBQ sauce is my favorite! Just wish it was a little thicker. They were out of most of the sides and the ones I received were in such small containers and the rolls they provided were dry and stale. I buy from them at five certain times of the year. Total Cost: $19.63 which BTW was a great year. The food was out in 5 minutes so you know a lot of care was taken in the cooking and preparation. The Chicken did not taste fresh. It was soft and moist like it should be but it tasted like a reheat from 2 days past. Presentation was HORRIBLE! My friends pulled pork sandwich was served on a white hamburger bun and the sauce saturated it so much that he could not hold it to eat it. The bun should have at least been toasted. I was extremely embarrassed as my friend threw more than half of it away. In the not so distant past I ate at the Honey Bears on Elliot and Priest. It is close to my home and the food was consistently good and we went every other month. I guess every chain has a BRONZE store and I guess HB's on 5012 E Van Buren St Phoenix, AZ 85008 is the B@$T@RD child of the chain.
