After a tough start -- I had difficulty getting an appointment and Micah Electric's scheduler disappeared for a week -- co-owner Anoush contacted me by email and phone and apologized for the error on their end. They sent a friendly and capable electrician to install a new plug unit, and do a few small electrical jobs. The job took a few hours longer than they initially estimated, and to make up for the scheduling confusion they honored their original estimate and waived the costs from the extra work. It's an odd thing to say, but after a bad beginning Micah proved to be exceptionally considerate. I felt very well taken care of. I'll be fair. This wasn't a quality issue with the work but a review for poor scheduling and communication. I never received an estimate, and the scheduling process was incredibly frustrating. I reached out through Yelp, sent them my inspection report, then called and texted, and was eventually given a time for a phone call. That appointment came today and no showed. After I followed up by text, I was told, "10 more minutes." Well here, I'm twiddling my thumbs still after 30 minutes. I'm a patient person and understand busy schedules as I work in a service industry with emergencies, delays, and things that don't going according to plan. This, however, is just unprofessional and almost feels like they're trying to deter me away. Unfortunately, I can't recommend a business that doesn't respect its customers. Good luck. read more

Just bought a house and I needed an EV charger installed. I was thinking if I had a good experience, I would use them for more. Micah came out himself to do a site visit and then the EV charger install. Then I had them get my outlets and some other wiring up to code as well as installing an outdoor outlet and flood light. Micah's team helped rewire my living room, dining room, and kitchen lights & receptacles. We moded away from knob and tube non-grounded fixtures to more modern wiring. Micah came to personally inspect and provide a quote for the job, and the team (5-6 guys) did a great job working with my old house finishing in 3 days. The site supervisor made an effort to point out various decision points that needed to be made, and worked with his team members to find efficient solutions to roadblocks. Great experience with Micah Electric. We had a different electrician than Micah himself, but he was wonderful: soft spoken, smart, efficient and professional. We had another company install a fan a couple of years ago which stopped working after a month. The company wouldn't come out to fix it, blaming the manufacturer. Had a discussion to replace an outdoor lighting fixture on a warehouse in San Leandro. After back and forth on service call, I was told they'd get back to me to schedule. Next day a cryptic note comes telling me the "owner won't warranty a new fixture. I'd have to buy it, and they'd install it". This is so wrong on many levels. Probably the most important is for them to investigate further to see if they couldn't just change the bulb INSIDE of the fixture. I called, pointed this out to Kaliah, she told me she'd talk with Micah and get back to me. I never heard back. It's a 1 for response and inability to capably set up a service call. read more

Micah and his crew were outstanding! We needed to upgrade the electrical system in a 100 year old home. The work was extensive, but they managed to get everything done from the smallest details to the biggest. We were on a tight timeline since my brother needed to move in at a certain date, but they managed to get everything done when we needed it. And with any old house, more work needed to get done than we anticipated in the beginning. We asked them to do everything under the sun beyond the electrical system and they were so helpful with that too .. update and change the bedroom, office, front and back porch lights ... some had light/fan combos, others had dimmer switches. I initially contacted Micah to set up an appointment to come check out an outlet and switch for my disposal. I had already changed out the outlet and upgraded to a much needed GFI. However, it still didn't work and the switch was fairly new having been replaced within the last few years. We knew for years that we needed to bring our electrical panel up to code and when we got an electric car and needed a charging station, we finally couldn't put it off any longer. I'm so glad we hired Micah for the job. The entire panel had to be relocated and in order to meet all of the code requirements, it was a bit of a Rubik's cube operation. Luckily for us, Micah worked tenaciously to find creative solutions, communicated and coordinated with city inspectors and PG&E on our behalf, and ended up making the whole complicated project completely frictionless for us. So I bought a bunch of Lutron Caseta wall switches because I wanted to automate my switches. The Lutron videos and the YouTube videos made it seem like changing out the switches would be simple for a person with no electrical experience, it wasn't. I called Micah, he changed out 6 switches within an hour. He let me know that the 3 way and 4 way switches needed the Caseta remote. He capped off the wiring for those switches and let me know how to install the remote when I get them. My garage GFCI outlet kept failing and Micah changed that also. I've used Micah Electric twice and both results exceeded my expectations! Micah first installed a bathroom fan, which required patching the whole in the dry wall from previous fan. The fan worked perfectly, and his associated patched the drywall and matched the existing ceiling color so that I didn't need to repaint the ceiling! The second job was installing an electric junction box and a bathroom light. It looked and functioned flawlessly when he was done. I've looked at other prices and I know that Micah's final invoice is very reasonable. I think that is in part due to the fact that he is an expert and gets it right the first time. Micah and his crew are friendly, easy going, responsive, and described everything that needed to be done to get to step one... & then to step two. They needed to cut out a part of the ceiling on the lower level to get access to the the space between the floors and they were very fast, efficient and had a minimal impact. They were clean, took steps to protect the space from dust and debris and cleaned up afterward. Unfortunately our wiring problem is waaay more complicated than anticipated. The damage was done by rats that wreaked havoc on the wiring of an old house on a steep hill, and there's no visible access to the wires at many points. And in spite of the difficulty of assessing the extent of the damage, or the best road to repair, Micah has been incredibly patient, kind, and generous about all of it. He gave a good recommendation that I return the new laundry plug and replace it with a safer one, and he'd provide the new receptacle during the installation. Our garage kept tripping our breaker. Last week we were at the door of the garage when the power went out. My husband when you turn the breaker back on and that's when I heard sparks and saw a pop of light. The wiring from the house to the garage was worn.
