This is a nicely appointed breakfast and lunch place with good service and food. Menu has all the expected dishes. Pepsi place, but I won't hold it against them. Parking can be tight and it can be crowded on Sundays. I usually get the French Toast.

We went back for brunch on Sunday and loved the food again!!! Our waitress was very sweet and made our brunch enjoyable. There was a little wait for around 10 mins and we were seated promptly. I got the 3 egg scramble with fruit and got a side of pancakes. We got the pancakes upgraded to blueberry bliss pancakes. These are hands down the best pancakes we've had!!! We also tried the west coast crepe. The crepes were a little on the sweeter side. It was nice to try something new. We'll be back again!

We dined here for brunch on a random Sunday. It's busy but we didn't wait too long for a table. The service was quick and my mom and I enjoyed the food. I would recommend and we plan on returning. I wasn't in love with the coffee but the food was tasty!r

Not the best food I've had... but I didn't get their brunch food. I came here probably over 8 years ago, but I don't remember how the food was back then. Anyways, I got the Elote Burger. I decided I was going to troll myself and order something that has flaming hot cheetos on it. The burger looked and tasted like something out of a dining hall. The patty was dry and sad, just like a Sodexho patty. There were maybe 5 or 6 flaming hot cheetos. The bread was pretty good! I will say the fries were also very crispy. So it wasn't all bad. But neither is dining hall food. So... my verdict stands that their burgers are pretty much dorm food. This is corroborated by my girlfriend's Hawaiian chicken sandwich containing extremely dry meat and a sad-looking pineapple. My friend recommended the skillets, but I made the mistake of not getting those this time. Would I come back? Um... not in a rush to do so.

Parking was not bad at the time we arrived but it can get obnoxiously packed. I like the Downers Grove one because they have their own parking lot. We were seated immediately even though it was starting to get busy. They have a lot of seating inside. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. I ordered the stuffed breakfast biscuit and it came with farmhouse potatoes. When you cut into the biscuit, you'll find bacon, scrambled eggs, and cheese. The biscuit itself was soft to cut and I liked the gravy. My cousin ordered the strawberry crepe and my girlfriend ordered the fried green tomato benedict. The portion sizes are enormous, you could make two meals out of this. I would say the prices are fair since they do give you a lot of food. If you find them expensive, Denny's and Ihop are cheaper alternatives. Everything was delicious. I forgot to mention but I recommend getting the strawberry orange juice. You won't regret it.

The fries are huge as well, and super crispy. Buttermilk's pancakes are probably my favorite pancakes, as they are light, soft, fluffy, and subtly sweet. This was a good spot for a casual brunch with family.

We sat in a corner booth area which was perfect for us because we have a very active 1 year old plus diaper bag, car seat etc.. it was spacious and perfect for our size family. My daughter said her pancake and eggs were so fluffy and delicious ^-^ and her bacon the perfect crispness. My chilaquiles were the perfect amount of mild spiciness. I am glad I chose the red sauce over the green because they were Delicious!! They come with a side of rice and beans that tasted very authentic also. The avocado was the perfect ripeness and so creamy! My husband's house potatoes and biscuits and gravy were also great. He really liked the gravy and asked for a side of it because he likes extra gravy on his biscuits. We also ordered the Nutella crepes and they tasted pretty good. They had a hint of cinnamon in the crepe mix so keep that in mind, next time I think we will ask to exclude it now that we know. Still they were very good We will for sure be back again!

From the moment we checked in, the room had no hot water. We contacted the front desk and were told to let it run. It never got hot. About an hour later, we realized the heat was not working either. We contacted the front desk again and explained that we would be leaving around 6:00 PM for New Year's Eve plans and would not return until after 1:00 AM, giving the hotel over six hours to resolve both issues. Maintenance came by and assured us everything would be fine. It was not. We returned around 1:20 AM, went to sleep, and woke up around 8:00 AM to a freezing room reading 52 degrees. The outside temperature that night was about 12 degrees. There was still no heat and no hot water. We contacted the front desk again and immediately checked out. Despite the room being unlivable and unsafe, management told us they would not issue a refund or credit. No heat. No hot water. No accountability. It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.

It's a beautifully converted old mansion with manicured outdoor spaces and an elegant interior. The white tablecloth atmosphere delivers on the promise of a special night out. That said, if you're coming expecting a transportive Spanish dining experience, temper those expectations. A few decorative plates on the walls aside, the space reads more traditional Southern manor than Iberian escape. Charming, yes. Spanish, not really. Now the food, because that's where things get interesting. The cream of rice soup was a genuine highlight. Buttery, brothy, deeply comforting. The kind of dish that makes you lean in after the first spoonful. The baguette served alongside it though? Stale. Sliced too far in advance and the butter arrived ice cold, straight from the fridge. At $100 plus per person, that is a detail that matters. The Queso con Pacanas had beautiful individual components but suffered from what became a recurring theme of the night: strong flavors competing rather than collaborating. The pungent cheese steamrolled everything else on the plate. The wine soaked pears showed up again later on the Chuleta de Cerdo, and while the idea is lovely, serving a pear half unsliced in a fine dining context means you're asking the guest to do compositional work that the kitchen should have already done. The Jamón Iberico is the most expensive item on the menu and the meat itself is worth every penny. Nutty, buttery, exceptional on its own. But the parmesan blanketing the flatbread crisps overpowered it completely, and a lone raw garlic clove sitting on the plate with no instruction is not fine dining. Our server was sweet enough to explain you're meant to rub it on the cracker yourself, and she handled it with grace, but that explanation should not have been necessary. The Patatas Bravas were well seasoned with a solid aioli but landed mushy rather than crispy. A miss. The Gambas a la Plancha was the clearest win of the evening and not by coincidence. It was the simplest dish. Well seasoned shrimp, bright lemon butter, nothing fighting for attention. Sometimes restraint is the whole answer. The Chuleta de Cerdo had a beautifully cooked, smoky and peppery pork chop and a mushroom sauce that genuinely complemented it. But then the cinnamon heavy root vegetable puree pulled the whole plate in a completely different direction. Our server was genuinely wonderful, funny and warm and attentive even while training a new hire. She was the clearest bright spot of the service experience and the one thing we left talking about fondly. We left the rest of the meal a little baffled. The head chef hails from Valencia, and we were told that influence shows in the food. Maybe it does and our palates just weren't reading it. But between the confused flavor profiles, the inconsistent execution, and a cuisine identity that felt more scattered than intentional, we walked out laughing and scratching our heads more than satisfied. Beautiful place. Lovely server. The food just never quite found itself.
