As a treat for my toddler, I made a quick search on Yelp for a spot providing shaved ice. Honeyberry seemed like the best option due to its location and the yummy photos. Our party of 3 arrived to a bare shop with only the staff member present. We walked in at about 6pm and were appreciative of such a clean environment. Roti buns seem to be extremely popular here. Shaved ice, gelato, smoothies, and waffles are also items you would find on the menu. After reviewing the HB's offerings, our family ended up with: *MANGO SHAVED ICE [requested for sprinkles to be added] *GOLDEN TOAST The mango shaved ice was not good. It didn't help that the sprinkles [requiring an additional fee] tasted terrible. I've never had sprinkles taste like that before and I hope to never experience that again. The topped mango were obviously not freshly cut since they had this shiny coating completely surrounding the pieces. Not sure if Honeyberry pre-cuts everything and leaves them in some kind of syrup?? The roti buns are warm and crisp on the outside, and nice and pillowy and soft in the inside. They're so good and not too sweet either! My faves are the chocolate butter and cream cheese. Order them warmed up and best to be eaten right away. Ordered a Jasmine Matcha. It was way too bitter, had no ice, and there was no matcha in it. I asked her to remake it and Liza said she can't remake, refund, or switch it unless there was something wrong with it. I explained the drink was not made correctly and tasted disgusting. After arguing back and forth for a while she just added more pumps of syrup and gave me the same drink back. I asked to speak to the manager and after more arguing she said she could call them on the phone if I wanted to speak to them. It was a $4 drink I have no idea why she was fighting and arguing with me so hard. I ended up leaving it on the counter with her and told her to keep it, and I calmly walked away. She argued with me for so long back and forth, told me I didn't know what matcha tasted like, told me I shouldn't of ordered it if i didn't like it, the matcha at Starbucks are different than theirs and dont taste the same if that's where im getting my reference from. Amazing place with delicious snacks! Don't come here expecting top grade quality food or drinks. It was my first time coming here and Liza was very helpful at explaining what each item had. She was also very patient when I asked her for samples of most of the gelato flavors. My favorite flavor is the mango one! I would highly recommend the matcha Jasmine if you love jasmine tea cause it feels like the flower is in there! It does not have any strong matcha flavor which is better in my opinion cause real matcha tastes likes grass I would also recommend the frutella if you're looking for a sweet treat. One of our go-to places after eating Korean food on El Camino. I first discovered Honeyberry after celebrating my moms birthday at Han Sung and I absolutely loved it. I'm a sucker for shaved ice and have been addicted this last year or so. I like this place because they have delicious shaved ice plus they offer other goodies like a full dessert bar, gelato and delicious drinks. This recent visit my wife and I brought our kids. We ordered the Oreo shaved ice for our kids, mango shaved ice for us, and a americano. The mango shaved ice came with a healthy amount of mango placed over a bowl of soft and snowy ice. It was topped off with a small scoop of mango gelato. The sweetness from the mango carried over to the ice and with a drizzle of condensed milk made for some satisfying bites. The mangos varied in texture. Some were soft, others were hard but overall the bowl had all the right flavors and texture. The Oreo shaved ice was a hit for our girls. They loved the jelly toppings you can pour on top and the combination of Oreo and m&ms. I wished they included a few full pieces of Oreo cookies like their competitors offer but overall the girls enjoyed it and the small size was the perfect amount for them. The americano was a big highlight for me. I drink my coffee black so I usually can tell right away if the coffee is a hit or miss but this one passed with flying colors. They have a nice espresso machine back there and as a result, this drink was quite enjoyable. The sweetness from the shaved ice carried over to each sip which made it a better experience. Last few times I've visited here, always have been able to find ample seating. Great place to visit with a friend or your family. Look forward to trying some of their specialty desserts! That's why spending a day in SJ - all sunshine and warmth - with my mom and sister got me all thawed out that I was craving shaved ice! Back in the days, Honey Berry was the spot to chill. It was also a place my ex would purposely drive to from Hayward to get me a slice of tiramisu cake. Young love...old memories. Tiramisu is non-existent now. They serve 4 kinds of shaved ice, smoothies, Roti Buns and gelato. The smell of their buttery toasted Roti Buns brings back all these memories of hanging out in SJ. I kinda wish they had a perfume made of Roti Bun aromas. I can smell it all day, everyday! Interesting how certain smells and tastes can bring back so much flashbacks. This review is specifically for the roti buns at Honeyberry. After a trip to Korea in 2011 and experiencing the delicious roti buns there, we were on a hunt for roti buns back home. Roti buns have nothing to do with roti pratha or roti canal from Indian or Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants; roti buns are coffee flavored crusted buns. Having found Honeyberry, we have been coming here the last 10+ years for their roti buns, seeing them go from a yogurt place to now a drinks/bingsu spot. We always just come for their roti buns. Having tried their other flavors (plain or cream cheese), we always get the chocolate butter flavor, with chocolate chips on the top, and butter inside. The white chocolate chip on top of the cream cheese roti buns are a bit too sweet for our liking, and we miss the butter from the plain roti buns. They used to have buns come out of the oven throughout the day, and they're so popular that you often have to wait for the next batch to come out. Nowadays, I usually see buns sitting on the counter when we arrive. Thankfully they're able to reheat buns for you should you decide to eat one right away; it's warm and crispy, and buttery inside. We usually have them reheat one to consume (inhaled immediately!), and buy a few to-go to reheat at home ourselves. Can't just have one, y'know! I am currently obsessed with roti buns. So my friend and I decided to meet up here to catch up. We both ordered the regular roti buns and a small mango shaved ice. They provide a small discount if you pay with cash! The mango shaved ice was nothing to write home about...I would not order their shaved ice again, but whenever I have a hankering for their buttery roti buns, I make my way all the way over from North Bay to get my fix. They are also located next to Roll House which is another old haunt of mine, so I love to eat their and pick up one or two buns before going back home. The interior is clean and very white themed with some Parisian cafe like wall decal. Customer service has always been straightforward and helpful. I liked the Matcha Bingsu but didn't like having to assemble the bingsu myself. Everything came on a platter with all the topping on the side except the gelato. The gelato was sitting on top of the ice.... I didn't understand why they did this... I guess to keep the gelato cold? Do they usually have the customer assemble the bingsu? Having to assemble the bingsu myself made it messy and almost unpicture worthy. I felt disappointed that the bingsu wasn't like the picture... In terms of service, the cashier was nice and helpful.
